Stayed at the Marriott for the Detroit Jazz Festival. Got a great room with a view of the river well worth it. Staff was courteous and helpful. Room service for breakfast was timely and tasty. Pricey but it's room service. my only complaint is with the Renaissance Center itself not the Marriott. Despite efforts to improve signage the circular design of the Renaissance Center and the multiple-entry floors makes it very difficult to get around the center or exit the center where you want to. Fortunately there's usually a staff person to give you directions.

The hotel itself was great. We had a nice, clean room with an amazing view of the city. We spent the night here after our wedding. It was a good call for the evening. A handful of our friends also had rooms and we all met at the Volt bar on the 3rd floor. Tiffany at the bar is quite possibly the most rude, condescending, and awful bartender I've ever had in my life. What had begun as a great evening with friends was quickly spoiled by her terrible attitude when we went to order drinks. If you hate your life and job that much, you should probably reconsider your current situation instead of forcing your garbage nature upon other people. Our friends were all as pleasant as could be and tried our best to avoid Tiffany, and I suggest any future guests do the same.

I must to go to. A city-within-a-city in Detroit. Great Vista views of Belle Isle Detroit River the Ambassador Bridge and Caesars Palace in Canada plus great views of Tiger Stadium Ford Field, Little Caesars Arena the Fox Theater and a ton of other wonderful venues of downtown Detroit. Go there. This place has a number of great restaurants on the promises Plus if you're staying at the hotel wall to wall ceiling to ceiling curved window view of everything.

The General Motors HQ is mind blowing. There are lot of exhibits of GM cars in the ground level which are very fascinating. The food court has lot of different type of cuisines. The Views from inside the building are priceless. The waterfront is beautiful with an amazing Panaroma of Canada on the other side of Detroit River. A must visit Place in Detroit.

Staff is very friendly and kind. The meals provided to my coworkers and I were great. The whole Renaissance Center is also very, very clean. But the rooms from the Marriott were exceptional. Fridge, big TV, A/C, and a beautiful view. No hairdryer or microwave in the hotel room, but that's okay with me for a single nights stay. Overall, I'd have to recommend staying at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center even with the hefty price tag.

Stayed here during a trip moving my daughter to Michigan. This is an amazing hotel with incredible views. There is something for everyone to see and do either right at the hotel or close by. Once the snow started rolling in, it made for an even better time! I will definitely stay at this hotel any time I visit my daughter.

I visit Detroit at least a few times a year and the Marriott was probably the best hotel experience I've had out of all the hotels I've stayed at there. Great room with a great deal. All the staff I encountered during my visit were beyond friendly and helpful. Let's not forget the pool, hot tub and gym you can use too.

I enjoyed everything about this hotel except the wait for my car from the valet parking and the fact that there is no microwaves in the rooms. The service by the valet was good, I just think you should be able to coordinate your need for your car with the delivery from the valet a little better to cut down on the wait, especially at peak times, and when the hotel is very crowded, this place is massive. The other amenities and the location is superb, right near the River Walk, GM towers, clubs and the casino.
Other than the microwave and the parking situation with the $35 daily charge, this hotel was extremely convenient. If you find a good value for your stay, it's a great value.

Everything was great except the response time of one of their services. We brought an air mattress, but it had a hole in it; so we requested an extra comforter to ease sleeping on the floor. They said it would be there in an hour. We waited two, then had to call again. We eventually got it. The hotel at the time was very busy with a big volleyball event and the Ford fireworks show. Like I said, everything else was great, hence the four stars.

7

Nice hotel. Right downtown and close to all the attractions. Hotel is attached to the GM headquarters and showcases all the latest GM cars in the basement level. Rooms were nicely appointed and clean. Staff were very friendly. Only 4 stars because hotel is a little dated and in need of a renovation.

Stayed here with a wedding group, on the same weekend the Detroit GP was taking place. The rooms were nice, and the lobby is classic cool. Our standard room on the 50th floor had a nice view of the river, but another member of our group paid for an upgraded view and could only see a tower out their window, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend the upgrade. The group rate block of rooms were almost all 2 double beds instead of a single king bed, and we couldn't pick the room type. I suspect they use group blocks to fill double bed rooms, since those are generally less popular among guests. They also managed to lose my father in laws luggage between valet and the room, and by the time the luggage was delivered they only had 20 minutes to dress for the wedding. Overall, it's a big, high volume hotel. Individually, the staff were friendly, but I saw room for improvement in the communication between staff departments.

Great location. The rooms were large and nice. The front desk was very helpful and polite. -1 star because when we got into our room it hadn't been cleaned from the last guest. Would definitely stay again.

The upgraded Renaissance Center is gorgeous. Has a nice showroom full of both new and oldschool cars. The design of the building interior is very modern and pleasing to the eye. I also love that they have added outlets to more locations. The good court is also nice with a decent amount of options

The rooms in this hotel are awesome, I have never had a bad view! We had a family gathering in one of the hospitality suites and adjoining queen room. It was a great experience. All of my out of town visitors really had a great experience! The area surrounding the hotel is very walkable with bars and entertainment(we went to POP+OFFWORLD ARCADE).

I know this is going to sound like a typical whiny online review but... This hotel is very overpriced for what you get. The rooms are acquitted, the hotel amenities are lacking, and the Renaissance Center is one of the most difficult to navigate buildings I have ever attempted to get around. A great example of the opposite of human design.

I have stayed here twice and each time I got the same impression. Next time I stay in Detroit I will definitely look for a different Hotel.

I had a great stay. It is nice to see downtown Detroit coming back to life. The view over the river into Canada at night is also a cool sight. We had plenty of options for food and entertainment in the surrounding area. The nicest part was actually feeling safe walking around outside.

Nice hotel. The staff were friendly. Very convenient having multiple restaurant choices nearby. A bit confusing navigating around the first three levels where the stores and restaurants are. Took me a couple days to figure out where everything was. Also had to call housekeeping to come clean since they didn't stop by on the third day after we removed the save the environment card from the from the door handle the night before. Otherwise a nice hotel.

Really good vibes here! I've visited The Renaissance Center several times for business meetings and interviews. Nice space to read, plug in your ear buds and get some steps in or get work done on your computer. Lovely building and friendly staff. #goodpics

The room was very nicely furnished with a relatively new view. In my room I was missing a remote to the TV and there was no microwave; however, from what I've heard from my friend staying in a dinner room across the hall, if you call the help desk they should be able to help you with these shortcomings. The service was super friendly. They even have a rather nice gym.

Room was nice. Great view from 63rd floor. TV connected to Netflix which was great. Checked out the club level and they had a good selection of food drinks and desert. Lobby was dated and parking $35 a day. Mattress is not very soft. Bedding is plush but pillows seem smaller then normal size. Very noisy in the morning with strange grinding noises in the walls.

I had a great time with my friends! The room was nice and comfortable and the service was excellent. Only thing I didn't like is that we were unable to access the pool that was at the Courtyard Marriott across the street at the Millender Center. The Renaissance Center's Marriott did not have a swimming pool, but is still a great hotel nonetheless.

Location downtown was great, especially with the people mover in the building. The parking is either valet ($28/night, includes in/out privileges) or $20 for self park, but no in/out. The pullout bed in the king room is a double. With that out, there's is still plenty of room for a rollaway or a pack & play. There were no additional towels in the pool room, so we had to go back to our room to get towels. It seemed like some things were still being updated in the lobby (there was no bar or dining in the lobby). Staff was decently helpful. We would probably stay again.

Ended up staying here after an event downtown. Check-in staff were polite and helpful. The room was clean and well kept. We ordered room service and it was promptly delivered. The signature dessert was pretty good! Breakfast in the morning was great. Plenty of options including salmon and a custom omelette station. The only downside to the stay was that the valet was very slow. We ended up waiting almost 20 minutes after we used the automated call system.

Our stay at the Marriott was flawless! The staff is incredible. If you require a bit of guidance during your visit to downtown Detroit; seek assistance from Marriott's Concierge. Angela provided us with suggestions that did not disappoint. The hotel is immaculate and our view was great!!

My time at the Detroit Mariott at the Renaissance Center was wonderful. I stayed 2 nights on floor 18 which had a great view of the Detroit River and the Windsor skyline. The gym facilities were substantial having many treadmills and elliptical machines, a fills eight room with a good selection of dumbbell and two yoga studios all with accompanying views of the city from the 40th floor. There were also many accessible restaurants right on site. My only complaint is that most of the restaurants shut down around 9pm. Overall a fantastic experience and I will be back.

We had an absolutely terrific experience at this hotel. The building was amazing. It’s in the GM headquarters and there is so much to do and see. There’s countless restaurants, shops, etc. GM has all of their cars out on display and even have them unlocked.
Our room was perfect. It had floor to ceiling windows with a great view of the city and the river. You can also access the people mover from right inside the building. The bridge to Canada is right next door. The building is very hard to navigate, though. It’s huge and round, so you find yourself going on circles.
There is a bar in the main lobby-Volt-that serves great drinks, food, and desert.
Overall, our stay was amazing and we will definitely be back.

Elegant Dining Rooms & friendly staff. A delicious dinner and dessert was served, that included a wonderful vegetarian option that i usually have to wait for someone in the kitchen to scramble to put something together. Or I would have had to order ahead of time. Not the case here . I received my meal at the same time everyone else did . Valet parking. There are renovations going on.

The building itself is one of the main landmarks of Detroit and the major part of its skyline. Located in the heart of downtown and facing the river walks and the Canadian city of Windsor, this hotel is the best choice to access the local restaurants and events. An overall good service and amazing panoramic views.

I was excited to become a new long-lasting customer as I am new to the area. Unfortunately my experience was not what I expected it to be like. The customer service was great, but I was kept from my room for over a couple hours because the lock was out of batteries. My recommendation for the Marriott is to think about what they can do to prevent this from happening in the future. I spent $320.00 on my room with a work discount, so I should have received better service overall. What did I get to compensate? Two free drinks. I work for the biggest company in this area and I will recommend against this hotel because very minimal effort was put toward my comfort as a guest that’s paying a lot of money.

The Rooms are nice. The bed was very comfortable. The Lobby is dated. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bar/restaurant was under construction and its stand in left a lot to be desired. The hotel is in Downtown Detroit and is walking distance to Greek town, Ford Field, Comerica Park.

My husband and I stay here at least once per year for a night away and have done so for years. We had intended to do the same last night but our young daughter became suddenly ill. My husband called the Marriott well past our check-in time to see if there was any way they would allow us to change the reservation to another night. They were very kind and allowed us to cancel at no charge given the circumstances. We are very grateful for their customer service and are planning to reschedule for the next few weeks. Marriott definitely has a loyal customer in us for the service we were given.

I do applaud the front desk crew for handling 753 Marines in for Marine week at the beginning of my stay as well as the conference check ins I was there for. I am a Rewards member and choose to be green on the housekeeping. I reuse towels and make my bed. With a longer stay like this was, they are still supposed to come in and clean every 3rd day. They never did this. There were no can liners for me to put my trash in and put outside the door. I did see the housekeeping cart on the floor and heard them cleaning other non-green rooms every day. I would have been happy with simple trash pulls and a replenishment of toiletries. Certain areas had great service and others not so much.

Hit or miss in terms of what quality. Good valet service depends on the time you're there. Overall though it's good. Great location too

The room was nice with a decent view. Pretty well maintained and overall OK. The valet is a complete s*** show, I mean these people are rude and incompetent. I've always wanted to stay at this hotel because of the views it offers (and I was not disappointed with that) but if you're going to stay here, park elsewhere! You have no choice but to valet here and its a mess.

One of the big benefits though is the ability to walk down to the first floor and eat at the food court or walk right down to the river walk. That's a huge plus!

Stayed for one night as we had a wedding downtown. Detroit is too busy of a city for me so this affects how I feel about the place. It was a great hotel with great service. A very nice hotel in a great location. Views are unsurpassed whether it be a river view or city view. Volt, their Restaurant, is also pretty good. Reasonably priced considering where it's located. The beds are really really uncomfortable....the location should have more to do. There is no movie theater close bye for guest to attend and pass time....the hotel is very confusing and its very confusing to get to the food court.....the breakfast is way to expensive....it cost more then hotels in LA. And we are in Detroit....

While the layout of the ground and main floors of the hotel is confusing, the staff was friendly. Front desk was helpful during check-in and check-out. They also accommodated a late check-out request. It's clear they try to do the little things to make your stay convenient and comfortable. My room had a king bed with plenty of light during the day and enough power outlets to charge my computer & phones. Bathroom was clean. In-room refrigerator was appreciated. Parking in garage adjacent to hotel was expensive at $25 for one night.

We stayed overnight to attend a Tiger's game. There was only one towel in the room and my husband and I had to share it as we didn't have time to wait for towels to be brought up. Three friends and I stayed on the 47th floor of the hotel and the view was AMAZING! The room was very clean and the beds were super nice! I really like the fact that each room has its own thermostat and the temp change happens very quickly which is a plus. The only thing that was irritating was that there were 4 of us staying in the room and we got 1 hand towel, 1 wash cloth and 2 full size towels.

I just wanted to say that Arlissa Jackson, who works in the fitness and health area, is an amazing woman! Every time I walked into the fitness center she was so kind and always had a positive attitude. She gave me a banana and water each day and knew my name after the first time going in there. She didn't need to go out of her way to have a conversation with me but she did. Very sweet woman and she really cares about the people staying there.

Was here for business and enjoyed the convenience and the facilities/amenities available. It's important for me to stay active while traveling for work and this hotel has one of the best fitness facilities for Marriott properties (and I stay at quite a few of them). Arlissa the health club attendant was one of the nicest and caring individuals I've ever met. Thank you so much.

The Detroit Marriott is a fantastic upscale hotel located in the Renaissance Center. The location is excellent, within walking distance to most major sights and attractions and has amazing views of both the Detroit River and downtown. I've stayed at the Renaissance Center three times now and have always had a good experience there. The hotel is close to several great restaurants. Staff was slow , got there at check in , did not have any rooms available so they ended sticking us is a handicap accessible room with no view (even though I had booked a delux room with a view ) . Lines at check in took over an hour with only 2 people working the counter. Not the friendliest. However the hotel was nice. Just wish we didn't have to stay in a room where our window faced a building and the sink was 2 feet away from the bed.

I have stayed at the Marriott RenCen many times and enjoyed it greatly as a deluxe accommodation. The building and views are second to none. I have also enjoyed the concierge lounge split over two floors. After the novelty and excitement of this unique facility has faded, though, I have found myself inconvenienced by the glass room-walls and their susceptibility to heat from the sun and cold from the winter, as the hvac system does not fully balance-out the temperature variations. After repeated stays looking for more culinary variety, I have also found the long walk to Detroit’s many other downtown restaurants and attractions to be a disadvantage for this location. But for occasional visits to the D, this hotel cannot be beat.

The room was great and hotel was, in general, higher class than your standard Road Star Inn. The valet was spot on; kind, courteous, and as fast as a Chipotle-fueled bowel movement. However the concierge could have used some improvement. She seemed be ignoring us because we didn't "look" like high-class guests. I understand I wasn't wearing a tuxedo like the other guests present that night, but my Express shirt and slacks certainly weren't lacking in style. Honestly, this hotel didn't provide the experience I have come to expect being a Marriott Platinum Elite for life member.

This hotel has a great view of the city and Canada if you stay in the upper floors. Food court has big variety of place to eat, there's also a CVS inside if you any med, snacks, etc. Prices for hotel are a bit on the higher end, but you pay for what you get and the room are pretty nice. Only thing I didn't like was a valet parking employee ask me if I had the tip for getting my car. I understand that you would tip them because of convenience of getting your car out, ready for ya but that not acceptable. Overall my stay was good and I'll be back for youmacon 2017.

We had a double bed room for one night. Our view was to the south, facing Cobo Hall and the Ambassador Bridge. Lovely view! Great location and a great price. Staff was friendly and helpful. We will probably be staying there again soon.

Great Hotel at a great location. Stayed here 3 separate times and whenever we asked for a room either with a better view or on a higher floor our wish was granted. Very friendly professional staff on hand. This is and always will be my #1 choice whenever I stay in the city. Enjoy!!

Do what you can to get a room on one of the upper floors, since the view can be amazing. The people mover leaves from one corner of the building--follow the signs or ask anybody. Pretty much all the good eating places you can walk to or take the people mover, which is 75 cents per ride. You can buy a token at the station or put three quarters in the turnstile. The hotel itself is just your ordinary Marriott, nothing unusual, but a great place nonetheless.

I was at the Marriott for Youmacon 2016. It is a rather large venue that might look a bit complicated to navigate at first, but most areas circle the elevators so it's hard to get too lost.

As for the room, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean with a slight modern look, and the showers had just the right amount of pressure. Room service was also very fast, and of good quality.

My only issue was the long line ups for the elevators. Although that's kind of expected when they're hosting an event with 10,000+ people.

Service was great!! Staff was very kind and helpful. Really made me feel at home. Really loved the overall atmosphere and layout of the place. Nice areas to just hang around and it's right on the river. Beautiful views and great restaurants in the hotel and nearby

I didn't have the pleasure of staying, however the atmosphere is fantastic. The overall feel of the facility combined with the RiverWalk experience is truly more than was expected. I can't wait to experience to downtown area again.

The bathroom was very small, it was akward to shut the door when inside. This hotel is HUGE and not well marked for where to go if you're not familiar with the area. Also check out procedures could have been more user friendly. Other than this it was a beautiful hotel with very comfortable bedding and tons of amenities.

Stayed just one night for my girlfriend's birthday to spend the day in Detroit and attend a Tiger's game. The Renaissance Center is beautiful and the river walk is lovely. There is plenty to do with the downtown shops and restaurants. A great place to spend a weekend or at least a day.

The Detroit Marriott at Renaissance Center is a great hotel for visitors to Detroit. Conveniently located on the Detroit River and within walking distance of the Riverwalk, many restaurants, Comerica Field and Ford Field. The rooms were very comfortable, nicely decorated, and wonderful views of the city. The staff was very helpful and prompt with any requests or questions. I will definitely stay there again.

I hated how it didn't have free parking the amount you spend on a room here there should include free parking at least or discount at dinner. It is not within walking distance to many places in the area. It was nice to be close to the river. I also didn't like how most of my view was of office space in the other tower building. The staff was kinda friendly. The room was nice and had a big comfy bed and big T.V. We were going to stay there again but I couldn't stay there again based on the view we had last time and we are not going to pay $400 for a different view not worth it so now we are going to try Greek Town Casino Hotel. Hopefully that is better.

Recently renovated in the heart of downtown Detroit, the Marriott RenCen is the place to stay. Convenient to downtown the river walk and more. People Mover stops here. It's own ecosystem inside with shops, restaurants +. Worth the stay and you can check out GM vehicles on display on the bottom floor.

Stayed at the RenCen Marriott for Youmacon 2015, had an overall good experience with the hotel itself. They provided parking comps for people who parked in the Atwater and Beubian parking structures, however Atwater claimed the Mariott didn't actually buy them and they tried to pull a fast one on us. Everything was clean and staff was friendly.

We stayed at the hotel for a convention and found the staff to be friendly and helpful, and the room clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that the bar was woefully understaffed for the event, and it took nearly 30 minutes of waiting in line to order a single round of drinks. Because they would only serve one drink per person it would have taken hours to have a few drinks with friends from the area, and after the first round we gave up and left.
