ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard that outlines how to put an effective environmental management system in place. It is designed to help businesses remain commercially successful without overlooking environmental responsibilities, such as:

• Improve their environmental performance constantly
• Comply with local and national regulations and other requirements subscribed
• Prevent water, air and ground pollution hazards
• Control and optimise water and energy consumption
• Promote waste recycling and recovery
• Raise environmental awareness among employees and train them to adopt good practices in their activity

ISO 50001 provides a framework of requirements for organizations to:
- Develop a policy for more efficient use of energy
- Fix targets and objectives to meet the policy
- Use data to better understand and make decisions about energy use
- Measure the results
- Review how well the policy works, and
- Continually improve energy management.

Beautiful place and a wonderful breakfast. Rooms appeared to have been recently updated but the shower was really weird. You had to step up to get in it and it doesn't have a door to close it. Made the whole bathroom kind of wet and steamy. Really good location for downtown stuff if you like that.

The hotel stay overall was nice. Comfortable accommodations. Very friendly and professional staff. Centrally located and walkable to attractions, food, including the local free trolley. I was in town for a conference. Impressed with meeting facilities and hotels ability to manage the needs of a large diverse group.

Hotel lobby very nice, rooms need updated! Could not adjust shower head, felt like I was breaking it. Room was dirty. Breakfast was actually the best part of the hotel. Made to order omelettes and pancakes. Salt water pool was warm, needs a hot tub. Will look elsewhere next time in Des Moines!

Great location. Nice view. Grand lobby. Nice staff. Clean updated rooms, except the bath could be updated a little better or differently to make it look more modern.

I can't say enough about this hotel! Great service. Lisa is one of the shuttle drivers who will go above in beyond to take care of you. Rooms are clean, spacious, and the view is beautiful. They have reception in the afternoon and the bartender makes her own Bloody Mary mix which is delicious! I will continue to stay here when I visit DSM.

My room was on the third floor overlooking the river and amphitheater so I had a great view. It was in fine condition when i arrived. I requested some extra pillows and they were delivered in about ten minutes. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable about the local nightlife. Dinner was a great experience. Staff was friendly and attentive without smothering me. Went for a stay-cation and i had an enjoyable evening.

Very nice folks at the desk..was looking forward to a nice bath after a long travel day but tub stop was broken and drain was full of hair. It was fixed promptly when reported but seems like housekeeping should have reported it instead of me. Mattress not as plush as others I've slept on. Breakfast was great and "happy hour" was very nice. Would come back but would have lower expectations.

I am a fan of the reception and free breakfast. That's a huge perk while traveling. The wifi works well and the room is quite spacious. Would stay here again. It's located near some fun bars/restaurants.

Very near the events downtown. Beautiful views, clean rooms. Most importantly it was quiet. The rooms appear to be on the expensive end, but after staying the prices appear to worth it. The breakfast in the morning was better than your normal hotel breakfast, and featured a make your own omelette station.

Stayed at this hotel many times. It's always very nice, including the awesome breakfast and happy hour with free drinks and snacks. I am disappointed in their parking that was recently upgraded. Now parking costs money unless you want to be shuttled. It used to be free.

8

Was there for a conference, and the overall experience was great. Very clean, and my room beat my expectations. My only complaints would be that the wifi isn't included with room fee, and for a hotel located in downtown, it didn't have a lot of information of things to do/see. However, the event staff was wonderful, the desk help was great. Would definitely go back.

Very nice place to stay with great facilities. Rooms were clean and nice with good views of the city. Breakfast was very good and they have free drinks in the evening. Where they came up short was with the shuttle service. I told them when I needed a shuttle to the airport and they said no problem, just show up and we will get you there. When I came to the desk for the shuttle they were full and I had to get a cab. Shuttle holds 11 people and there was 18 that needed a shuttle at that time. They should have a sign up sheet and when they are going to be full, run the second van.

Our entire stay was terrific. The room was very clean, the check-in staff was helpful -explained valet parking, shuttle, breakfast and other amenities. I'd like to especially mention "Little Mike", the shuttle driver. He took us to Splash and later to Wooly's. He was so friendly! On one trip there was an extremely obnoxious person riding along with his family. Mike was very pleasant and professional with this man. Pretty impressive for a young man! (The rude man's family even apologized for his behavior when they got off). We will definitely be staying there again!

Good location, well kept and clean interior. Check in was quick and easy. Valet was fast and they even turned on the heater, seat warmers and heated steering wheel which was nice on a 20F Midwest morning.

I was among a group of college theatre students who stayed here about a week ago. The hotel itself was very nice, very clean and well kept. Our room was spacious and comfortable on the whole. Most of the staff was decent. However, my friends and I had the constant feeling that we were being babysat.

One morning, a couple of my friends got locked out of their room because of an error with our professor's card and were not told about it so they had to spend 45 minutes out of their room with no wallet or keys or anything.

Another night, a few of us were in one room playing cards. I admit we were being loud so I was not really surprised when "hotel security" knocked on the door and said that there had been complaints. That killed the mood, so all of us but the guys who were staying in that room left. They were in the back of the room talking when the security guard came back again and said they were being too loud. Finally, a bit later, they heard the guy on the walkie-talkie being told that if they were loud again they'd be kicked out.

The last big thing was the dirty look we got from a breakfast attendant who told us to go put on shoes if we wanted to be in the breakfast area. I can understand a rule like that but it wasn't posted anywhere and I don't think violating it warranted being treated like children.

We paid to be there just like all the men in suits and not being their usual clientele is no excuse for treating us like children.

I wish we had had a better experience.

The lobby was clean and staff was welcoming as always. The pool area was well kept and the pool itself was clean and very warm, which is definitely a plus in Iowa during the winter months. The room was clean and comfortable. The shower pressure could have been better, but it was far from terrible. There was a nice selection of free snacks and drinks included in our premium suite.

Nice rooms, very spacious! Excellent, EXCELLENT staff. The valets were super friendly and pleasant and the front desk was very helpful in getting us into our rooms (we were the first members of a group to check in). The atrium smells a little like a pool from the waterfalls, which I will happily accept given that there are waterfalls. I stayed in a suite room, which came with a little living room and kitchenette with minifridge and microwave, and also a (somewhat cramped) bathroom, and a bedroom that was the size of an average hotel room. There's a sink in every room! The view was decent as well, but like many hotels, the windows were bolted shut.

I hear tell they have a solid breakfast buffet, and I believe they have a 2p-4p happy hour where you can get free taster sized drinks. (Dunno if there's limits.)

Beautiful hotel but not prepared for the volume of women that attended this event. The toilets were not flushing and the sinks wouldn't work. Valet tried their hardest to keep up but still took very long. Everyone was nice but not ready. We went to the restaurant and waited 15 minutes for someone to ask what we wanted. We finally got our order of just soup because they said everything else was going to take too long. We never received our water and had to track down our waitress to get our bill so we were not late for our event. We had an hour and only got soup. My soup was shaken around and was all over the napkin underneath. My crackers were saturated in the broth. Not a horrible experience but not a great one.

Downtown Countdown was a great party. The food was delicious and the entertainment was excellent. My only complaint was with the bar service. The drinks were so overpriced. After people pay a premium price for the party, I don't think Embassy Suites needs to gouge them on the cocktails. Other than that, it was a fun evening.

I stayed at the hotel in the dead of winter, so basically didn't leave the building. The rooms are nice, two-room suites in great condition. West-facing rooms have a great view of the waterfront. Staff is very friendly. There's a fun multi-story sculpture/waterfall that's nice to look at and creates a great white noise in the central part of the hotel. Minor gripes: shower heads are mounted a bit short (I'm tall and notice this), and the hotel pool was pretty cold.

Heat wasn't working in lobby, restaurant, or pool. Wife sat in coat and mittens in pool area while the children and I swam and shivered. Checked thermostat in public area and temperature was 64. Reported to management they said they hadn't noticed but had huge commercial turbo fan heaters blowing on them. Heat in room was nite working well either. We were on the 7th floor and because heat rises the atrium at our level was the warmest area of the hotel, we propped our door to let the heat in. At dinner our food was room temp before we could finish. Breakfast was typical embassy suites breakfast but the dining area was still chilly i see several people eating in coats. We were given a free upgrade to a corner suite due to very low occupancy. the view from our room was very nice of both the capital and the river. The furniture in the room was distressed, ottoman had heavy staining, couch appeared broken in. Beds were very bouncy inner spring and didn't offer the best night's sleep.

We were out walking our dog and we need to use the facilities. It is a beautiful spot to stay in. The waterfall is amazing and everything was very ornate! It is right next to the amphitheatre and the Des Moines River. It is right by downtown and the Court Ave district for some good eats! It has valet. It can be pretty pricey depending on when you go, but for where you are staying it is fair.

Easily accessible, with valet parking as well. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. Room service is prompt and good quality. Front desk staff member Cameron was best hotel concierge worker I have ever met. Valet worker explained other parking options in the area and offered to give directions. Breakfast was busy but plates were cleared quickly and tables turned over well. Only issue was bacon and sausage was kept behind the omelet line counter not on the main buffet line so you had to wait in mind with the omelet folks and the chef did not seem thrilled to be working alone.

I cannot say enough about the managers and staff at this hotel. I had a very big snag in my travel plans while staying here and everyone from the front desk staff to the valet made sure that I had what I needed to solve the problem. They were exceptionally accommodating and helped me through every detail even though they were busy and I was working with a rigid schedule. I would highly recommend this hotel for business travelers.

Very quiet suite, ask for a room with a river view. The Manager's Reception is better than other Embassy Suites I've stayed at because several craft beers were available on tap and the bartender was willing to make most any type of cocktail (at other ES, I've asked for a Manhattan for instance and was told I'd be charged for that drink). The breakfast choices were excellent. My only two negative comments: I was unable to connect to the internet and the front desk couldn't help but gave me the phone number of technical support and I called and they were able to get me connected. Also, there is no free parking, only valet parking at $23/24 hours. However, the parking attendant did tell me that I could find a free parking space on the street (this was Sunday afternoon) until 8 am on Monday morning when the parking meters would go back into effect. Photo is view from my room.

I stayed in this hotel with my cousins, aunt, and uncle back in 2015, and it was the best experience yet. Breakfast was very good because of all of the choices there versus a lot of other hotels, but they're good as well. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who likes/loves to vacation anytime, especially myself. The pool was really nice and I really liked the model of the hotel rooms. Can't wait to come back here someday.

The large open area inside is beautiful with cascading waterfalls. The staff was very accommodating to our large and demanding bridal group, bringing us robes and extra pillows for everyone. The shuttle service was also very helpful. The location is great walking distance from many restaurants in downtown Des Moines.

Room-wise, Embassy Suites is one of the best hotels I've been in. Maybe not saying much for some people, but I'm a pretty average guy, so it's nice in my book. Parking is tough, either valet, or park it on the street, if you can find a spot. And that's probably the only negative. All in all, I plan to keep coming back.

Nice downtown location. Staff is amazing and very accommodating. Beautiful footbridge gets you across the river right at Wells Fargo Arena. Many bars and restaurants within walking distance. Even the Papajohn Sculpture Park is a nice walk, little longer, but a nice walk. (highly recommend the park, it's lit up at night).
Good variety of hot/cold for breakfast. Evening reception was nice too.
Only negative is you're pretty much forced to use the valet parking. We asked about other parking and we were vaguely told it's 6 blocks away and they don't tell ya much more. We stayed a few days and no discount, each night is full rate so it wasn't cheap. All parking on the street near the hotel on the bridges, etc is reserved by the hotel, not open to public parking.

The staff and accommodations are fantastic, no other way to put it. Ryan, Lindsey, Cameron, and Rachel are absolutely amazing, best hotel staff I've had the pleasure of encountering in Des Moines, possibly the entire Great Plains. This Embassy Suites is now my go-to hotel when I'm in the city.

Very nice hotel. Beautiful lobby, all rooms are 2 room suites, amazing free breakfast, and free happy hour drinks! The staff was very friendly and helpful too! The only reasons I did not give it 5 stars was because our room had a terrible view (Although my parents room had an amazing view) and there was a tack sticking up through the carpet in our bedroom which I stepped on twice (reported it to maintenence for fixing).

The fastest and most readily available elevators I've ever experienced. Such accommodating and kind staff. Especially, Graciela. Fabulous, fresh spread for breakfast (included) and the evening reception (included) has a stocked bar and simple snacks. Fabulous location. Walk to shops in the East Village and next to the river. Highlight for me is the water flowing from 6 stories up. Helps with that typically dry hotel air and the sound is lovely white noise. Big suite rooms with microwave and fridge.

Parking was a bit rough, had to find a spot on the street if you didn't want to Valet. Otherwise, our stay was fantastic. Our rooms were spacious and well decorated, with quality furniture. The complimentary breakfast was beyond stellar, and the staff was exceptionally courteous and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

I attended a dinner event. Good service. The food was good. The servers rushed it though. Everything was obviously optimized for getting people feed as quickly as possible. I barely finished my salad before the main course was brought out, and the desert was sitting on the table from the beginning.
The venue itself was lovely. Unfortunately, the large waterfalls and lack of sound padding in the lobby made conversation hard.

This hotel is by far the nicest place I have ever stayed in. Clean, accommodating, friendly staff. Special shout out to Mike in valet parking. He went beyond his regular duties to assist me since I had recently gone through knee replacement.
I highly recommend Embassy Suites in Des Moines for a fabulous stay.

Nice downtown location.

It was a very nice hotel. The lobby has a very fancy set up. While there for March Madness the staff still helped us even though teams were staying there!

Great place to stay. Not a lot of parking options so kind of forced to pay valet when all they did was park it on the bridge on the city street overnigtt right outside the hotel. Shuttle service was awesome . Very clean room and breakfast was amaZing.

Wonderful experience!! Conference rooms were well maintained, snacks and lunch were good. Suites were wonderful and clean. Only thing for improvement would be showers with half doors. Water was all over in spite of being careful. Some mildew on tile is probably the result of water puddling on floor of shower. Staff were very friendly and helpful at all times!! Highly recommend the complimentary breakfast and happy hour snacks!! Thanks for a great stay.

While the embassy suites may be somewhat pricey, the quality of the rooms are top notch. The employees are always ready to help out and the breakfast is pretty awesome as well. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are going to be visiting des moines.

We had an amazing stay. We have stayed at a couple others and this was the best stay I've had. Great service! The food and beverage manager is amazing. He was out talking to guests and told kids to come to the managers reception for cotton candy and a magician (who was very good and also did Ballon animals at breakfast). It was great to see it tailored for kids too. They had a wii and bags too. The children in our party had a blast!

This hotel is in a great area, centered near a lot of local eats and local art installations. Rooms have been upgraded in the last year. Staff is very helpful and nice. I stay here every time I'm in DSM.

The location was great. Within walking distance of all of the downtown area. The breakfast and happy hour were great guest services. The only problem we had was requesting housekeeping and being told a certain time that didn't end up happening.
