Great hotel with a great staff. Breakfast was solid and it was easy to get in and out. Room prices for a suite were good for what I needed. Would recommend for a stay in Downtown.

Excellence is the key word for HVMG Properties, they will make sure you have a great visit. However dated, and soon to be renovated, this classy building and all it's amenities will impress and lots of staff willing and ready to meet your needs. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed an overnight weekend stay with our family of 4 another couple & their 2 children.

The pool was okay, the evening manager’s reception with snacks & drinks was okay and the staff were very pleasant. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet even though there were only pork meat options. Downtown Winston-Salem was alive the weekend we were there, however nothing really kid friendly. The suites were well stocked and the beds comfortable, but there’s no such thing as a comfortable pullout sofa bed, so, no other comment there.

We stayed in a suite on the 9th floor, and the room was excellent. The pool was nice but cold, and the fitness center was nice for a hotel. Breakfast was very good with a wide range of food.

I did not get the chance to stay in the Embassy Suites, but did go for a college fair. The hotel is very nice, welcoming and clean. It is right in the middle of downtown Winston Salem and you do need to be prepared to pay for parking as your main option is a parking deck connectes to the hotel - luckily the parking deck does accept cards.

A little tough to rate. The positives: nice spacious two room suites, right in downtown, they have a breakfast buffet that I didn't try but I've been told by coworkers is very good, clean with decent amenities in the rooms. The negatives: the decor is showing a LOT of wear, especially the carpets and the hallways. They are overdue for a remodeling. For the price I (my company) paid on a government contacting rate, I have no complaints. But for the standard nightly rate ... I'd probably look for something a little less "weathered".

No hot water the day I signed in, but warmed up enough by morning to shower.
Coffee maker nonfunctional but replaced by staff.
Tubs and furniture are due for an upgrade
Staff are helpful, courteous, and go the extra mile to make a guest comfortable
Love the breakfast and the evening hospitality food/drinks.

Friendly staff. Very spacious rooms with separate living area and bedroom. Bed was little too firm. When making reservations, we requested extra towels and coffee which was in our room upon arrival. All the extra coffee was decaf though. The evening happy hour with snacks and beverages was nice. Breakfast was absolutely phenomenal! Overall happy with the stay and we would stay again.

I stayed here for one night while in W-S on business. The hotel is a pretty typical Embassy Suites. The room was comfortable and spacious as you'd expect. My breakfast was good. Parking costs a little bit, but it was very close to the hotel.

The carpet is a little tired. There was a bag of trash left in the hall overnight, which I thought was a little sketchy. Although it's not the newest or freshest place to stay it is where I will stay again the next time I'm in W-S overnight for business.

The shower adjustment ring screwed off before I was able to turn it to a new setting. Do not expect we'll maintained facilities. The bar does not serve more than two drinks since "it's against NC law" although it's not. Overall a nice looking hotel but don't expect anything more than skin deep.

Very nice staff and very nice looking hotel. The suite I had was very large with great big windows. The bed was comfy. The breakfast was very good and also the evening social hour was nice. My only thing was there were wet washcloths left in the bathroom upon my arrival. I think the staff didn't see them where they were out, overall the room was very clean.

I had a wonderful time. I loved the personal note that our housekeeping staff member, Kimberly, left for us in our room. Everyone was very helpful. There was a brown stain on one of sheets. That was the only minor issue that I experience

Minor areas in need of paint. We did not go to the pool. Room clean upon arrival however 2nd day housekeeping appeared to be running behind on cleaning schedule. We decided to clean our own room and just asked for clean towels which was quickly brought to us. We had no major issues. Service and friendliness of staff was average.

It was a comfortable room. A refurbished hotel. Over priced for what we got. The breakfast was great and the hotel staff wasn't rude but not very pleasant either. The breakfast staff was very pleasant. The parking is a headache and the company who owns it (separate company from the hotel) was incredibly rude. I normally really like Embassy Suites and this visit won't change my opinion of the hotel chain. But Winston Salem can step it up a bit.

I chose this location due to the price and location. You do pay for parking but it is still less than many other hotels. The reception downstairs nightly was a nice treat with light snacks and free drinks. The restaurants close by were highly rated and met my expectations. My room was spacious and clean.

The Embassy Suites - Winston-Salem is one of the nicest hotels in town. There is a great view of the city and the rooms are cozy, fancy and clean. The kitchen are is nice to have in a home-away-from-home.

This hotel is usually great for me. Had a not so great experience this trip. I had to contact the front desk two separate times to come fix my air conditioner that wouldn't drop below 77 degrees. After they left the second time, and saying it should be working, it never got below 76 degrees in the room. I mentioned it again as I was checking out and the only thing that was said to me was, "I'll tell maintenance". Not impressed.

While the facility is dated and needing redecorating, and some renovation. The staff (and i mean all staff --waitstaff, restaurant, housekeeping, maintenance, front desk) all work diligently to make your stay a great experience. The complimentary breakfast and cocktail reception are well done and the value for the dollar is better than the neighboring Marriott or Kimpton Cardinal hotels. Granted those hotels are newer and updated...but we are staying for a 5 week stint in a 2 bedroom suite, and the other properties would have cost a fortune, while the embassy suites is an amazing value ...

Loved that breakfast was included with the stay. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Room was well cleaned and very comfortable. 2 things I did not like.
1. When we got there there was a plate of food put out on the hall way. That was around 830 pm. When he checked out at 9 am the plate was still there.

2. You have to pay for parking.

Visited the hotel for 2 nights due to being in town for a conference. Found the staff extremely helpful, the hotel clean and well maintained, and the bed was very comfortable. In advance, I felt the hotel was a bit overpriced for the city - however, after my stay , I felt the value I received was worth the price for a business trip.

Hotel was going through renovation on the ground floor. Other than that, it was convenient and this hotel was also connected to the Marriott across the street. Great place to hold professional conferences.

Nice hotel. The room was a "Premier Suite." The biggest issue was that there were no USB outlets in the lamps or the alarm clock. Room service was good; however, it took 3 calls to get in touch with them.

5

Convenient location but dated and aged interior leaves a lot to be desired - lots of wear and tear showing on metal and wood-finished surfaces. Downtown Winston-Salem seems to have a shortage of hotels and occupancy, so the fact that we were able to stay on Hilton points was great. Parking is $15 for self-park which also is a bit of a stretch. Would be nice to see a cosmetic makeover at this property.

The Embassy Suites in Winston Salem are very interesting. I was up there for HDF (Hellenic Dance Festival) and everything seemed to be normal. The hotel is tied to a convention center and the Marriott across the way. Embassy Suites has always taken unique designs from what I have seen. However, this one felt off; very off. I have gone to the one in Atlanta and I felt wowed by the whole experience, but the whole atmosphere felt off here. There were balconies that had fake vines on them and they did not feel sturdy. I use to have a weird fear of elevators, this place gave me that same feeling. They have a large open space on the 2nd floor (this is where the balconies jet out to). There were really only tables and chairs, and it seemed really unnecessary. The rooms are great and have a standard 2 room layout, that from what I can tell, all Embassy Suites have. Overall, it's nice, but I would much rather stay in the Marriott across the street.

I wish there was an option for 4.5 stars as this would be more reflective of my overall opinion. But I'll err on the side of caution in this case as there were some flaws that a 5-star hotel would not overlook. We just got home from a 4-night stay for a convention and I ended up being pleased. But when we first arrived, my husband and I had 2 queen beds instead of the requested King (our friend who arrived the same day solo was given a king). Ok, no big deal. The FABULOUSLY spacious suite was such a treat. I brought an extra monitor so I could work in the room while the hubs was at the convention, and there was plenty of space to spread out. It felt very homey with a living room, two tvs, a desk with plenty of seating, etc. On to my next complaint, the day after our arrival, I planned to run to the grocery store while housekeeping did their thing. So they knocked, I let them in and left as planned. Came back 1 hr later to a room that had not yet been serviced. What?? She came in a few minutes after I got settled into my work again and said that she took a lunch break while I was gone, now she can clean. Ooook. No big deal, the absolutely insanely awesome hot breakfast bar that is included was the best I've ever seen and totally made up for it. Even the bacon was top quality, thick cut and perfectly cooked. And made-to-order omelets. Wow. OK. Next complaint. This one is somewhat out of the hotel's control, but it is an important point to note. Our window from the second floor overlooked a massive ongoing construction project. In itself, no big deal. But the work started at 7:30 sharp every morning with the full outfit of jackhammers, jig saws, etc. That's fine, I was up anyway. But it was INCREDIBLY hard to concentrate on work with that going on, especially when the primary reason for my coming was to get away from the distractions of the office environment so I could actually concentrate. Consider avoiding this place if that is your driver for coming. But all-in-all, the good far outweighed the bad. Except for when housekeeping forgot to make our beds or leave toilet paper on the 3rd day. Or leave coffee cups, sweetener or creamer. Those were pretty epic fails.

My mother-in-law made reservations and we were upgraded to a premium suite. The vending machine for Hilton honors members does not work. There were plates and wine glasses outside our door for at least 10 hours, and the interior was very dated. Our room was moderately clean, the glass to look out from our room wasn't clean. The door entering into our room was hard to open/close. The shower was great and had great pressure. When we had dinner and breakfast, the food was great! These are my only complaints.

I would certainly rate this property as 5 star in ALL areas. The room was perfect, beds were very comfy, felt like home! Cleanliness was very noticeable and fresh smell. The large home style morning breakfast, complete with omelets was one of the most awesome amenities. The Managers Special from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres and drinks was another wonderful amenity. The service was tops in all areas. The hotel is located in the heart of the city and there are so many other restaurants and shops in walking distance. If I ever make it back to Winston-Salem there is no where else I'd rather stay. It was a perfect stay.

Massive rooms, amazing location, friendly staff, cheapish parking, good price. Wish it wasn't as dated as it was however. Also, the rooms, while dated in layout, we're recently refurbished at least.

Update
I've had two weeks now with bad air conditioners. I'm switching to a better Hilton renovated Hilton property that has free parking and better beds. This could be a great hotel but needs a renovation to bring it up to standard.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I only have one complaint. I can't for the life of me figure out why they don't allow delivery to bring food to the room. I would understand if there was a keycard required for elevators etc but I've never had this problem at other embassy suites or hilton properties. Is there really a criminal problem locally that is more pronounced than larger metropolitan areas? Does some misguided individual think that by inconveniencing their customers it will encourage them to order room service? I sure hope it isn't something as ignorant as that. It is a very nice solid hotel otherwise outside of this one annoyance.

Two night Stay. Worst coffee I have ever tasted but main issue is the sirens. Did not get any sleep. Apparently there is a fire department in the hotel or really close and something burned every night between 12 and 4. Room was big and breakfast was good. Had issue with A/C and they sent someone right up and got it fixed.

A/C didn't work in first room. No WiFi signal in corner room on 7th floor. Housekeeping didn't show up until well almost 4pm to clean room. The front desk offers little help and the head of housekeeping wants to argue about what is a reasonable expectation.
