Environmental challenges have an impact on the wellbeing of people and ecosystems around the world. We strive to operate as efficiently as possible across our entire value chain. For a low carbon future, we reduce and monitor energy and water use. As part of our commitment to reducing our waste to landfill, we created a comprehensive waste strategy and we collaborate with WWF to reduce food waste in our operations and supply chain. Certifications

ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard that outlines how to put an effective environmental management system in place. It is designed to help businesses remain commercially successful without overlooking environmental responsibilities, such as:

• Improve their environmental performance constantly
• Comply with local and national regulations and other requirements subscribed
• Prevent water, air and ground pollution hazards
• Control and optimise water and energy consumption
• Promote waste recycling and recovery
• Raise environmental awareness among employees and train them to adopt good practices in their activity
• Use eco-label housekeeping products
• Use sustainable forestry certified paper

Green Key Eco-Rating Program 4

With more than 1,200 hotels certified in Canada since its inception in the 1990s, the Green Key Eco-Rating Program awards hotels an environmental rating of one to five Green Keys. Green Key members are then given guidance on how to "unlock" opportunities to reduce operating costs and environmental impacts - and in turn earn more keys.

The Green Key audit looks at nine major areas of sustainable hotel operations:
• Energy conservation
• Water conservation
• Solid waste management
• Hazardous waste management
• Indoor air quality
• Community outreach
• Building infrastructure
• Land use
• Environmental management

ISO 50001

ISO 50001 is based on the management system model of continual improvement also used for other well-known standards such as ISO 9001 or ISO 14001. This makes it easier for organizations to integrate energy management into their overall efforts to improve quality and environmental management.

ISO 50001 provides a framework of requirements for organizations to:
- Develop a policy for more efficient use of energy
- Fix targets and objectives to meet the policy
- Use data to better understand and make decisions about energy use
- Measure the results
- Review how well the policy works, and
- Continually improve energy management.

Update to this review, stayed Aug 2018 for another conference. Was informed that pull out sofas had all been replaced! Did not hear one complaint this time! Good job!
We enjoyed our Deluxe King Kitchenette Suite! Spacious! Pretty clean. Nice to find all the different bits and pieces needed in the kitchen, including can opener and water filter jug. Little things show attention to detail. Staff this year seemed better trained and more helpful than last year!
Lots of parking at this location makes everything so much better for large groups! Tip...don't pay at the machines in the parking lot until you confirm whether you group has a special parking rate set up or not! They will try not to refund your parking fee!
When booking, staff informed me, no rooms at our group rate were available. Called our company, they assured me rooms in our block were available, staff called me to correct the issue and my rate. So am satisfied. However, especially with groups, staff should have a better communication system to facilitate group bookings.
Overall, enjoyed our stay at this location. Especially the Zen Garden!

Previous Review Aug 2017...
It's a nice hotel. Pull out couches are notoriously awful! Went with a Conference and everyone who tried the couches complained avidly! Nice, large meeting/event rooms. Staff always seem a little lost. Friendly enough. Good parking.

Hands down, the BEST hotel!
Rooms are very spacious & clean.
Bakery is amazing . Must try !
We had breakfast at the restaurant and my daughter ordered off the menu because she was too late for the buffet. She ordered 2 egg whites and the chef prepared 4 egg whites because the portion looked small.
We traveled with our 1 yr old puppy for the first time and the hotel was very accommodating. Hotel is very pet friendly and there was plenty of grass to walk the dog.
Bakery even got him a small glass of cold water after his walk.
Staff is very friendly and so much fun to talk to.
The only complaint is that housekeeping staff (not manager) talks among themselves and complains about people at the hotel .... for example - how there are too many dogs at hotel and some people leave a mess.
We put booties on our puppy so that he does not track mud and grass in the room. Our puppy is trained not the bite furniture and chew personal items.
They weren’t directing the remarks at us, but my daughter was offended because they were talking right beside her in the hallway.
Above all, I would DEFINITELY return to this hotel.

Very clean cozy and comfortable hotel. Stayed in a king suite for a friend's wedding. Room was beautiful with 2 large tv's, 2 couches and a king bed in a separate room. Bathroom shower didn't have a closing door which was strange, but I liked it. Amenities are quite pricey. 4 dollars for a regular coffee in the lobby.. 50 dollars for breakfast.. Ouch!

Stayed here for 2 weeks.. Nice suites.. Will be here for two more weeks. Nice amenities. Grocery and a park near by. You can do your own laundry. Cook.. Super chlorinated pool is a downer but.. They have a decent gym. The homeservice is only decent. Not exactly warm ladies. Not used many other amenities but these are good enough...

Compliments to the chef! I was there for a work event for 3 consecutive days and it was neat, tidy, very well put together, and they took really good care of us at the hotel. The food was absolutely delicious each and every single day and that also included the desserts! I would highly recommend it! It is a great place to host events.

This review is specifically for the executive lounge. I am a Hilton Diamond member and have been for years. I work nationally in the USA and spend 75% of my year staying at various Hilton brand hotels. This trip was a vacation with my family. After my wife and son entered the executive lounge for a light snack, we immediately blocked from the refreshment bar by the hostess who asked what room we were staying in. I gave her my room number. And that was that I thought. I sat down and watched if she did this others and she seemed to be selective only asking those who were not "white" the "what is your room #" question. Several guests who were Indian, Chinese, Middle Eastern were asked, but white males and females were not asked what room # they were staying in. How sad to think that this particular employee who herself is not "white" was profiling their guests. This is completely unacceptable and should be looked into by management.

This place is super nice. It's one of the better hotels on the outskirts of the city, but it's still close enough to commute in. Lots of parking and the rooms are very modern. The staff provided amazing service for our professional event. There are large rooms for conferences and dinner. Great experience!

We attended the Conference Centre for a wedding reception. It was gorgeous.
The lobby has an open concept and feels very inviting. The bar is quite large and can entertain quite a few standing patrons at one time.

It's the only area of the centre that offers free WiFi.

The banquet hall we were in was beautiful and accommodated approx. 150 of us. Plenty of room and space to mingle.

The staff were great and very friendly.

I would recommend this place to anyone who's planning a reception or any type of large group event ( this was also the place where they held the PC Leader event).

Nice and spacious corner room. The room is clean. The furniture is not dated but didn't have a new feel to it like other hotels. . The technology is decent with two 50" TVs and a good selection of channels. The pool is heated and clean with an okay hot tub.

Great location at warden and hwy 7. Always great customer service from the ladies in the front desk. Rooms are clean and roomy. We love the spacious living area and how there are TVs in both areas. My dad loved the beds as they were very comfortable. No complaints at all

Value for the price-3.5(could add more items as you charge 22$)

We did not stay at hotel just went for breakfast. They do not make you feel welcome at the restaurant. Staff need training on being nice to guest stating with smile. They were very moody. The front lady was nice.

I attended the Hilton for the Annual General Meeting for Navy League of Ontario. The hotel is beautiful. Rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable beds. I stayed 2 nights. The only small points I can make are about the bathrooms. They were usually very clean but the sensor toilet flushers may require adjustment. Some would flush several times with one use while other times they would not flush at all. The toilet paper was thin single ply which was a little surprising when you see the other high end finishes. I enjoyed my time. Didn't have a chance to check out the pool or amenities. Overall it was a pleasant stay. I would return.

I used the gym at Hilton before, it was pretty good. All equipment are well maintain and most of the device has own TV, so meanwhile doing work out, never feel bored. And went there yesterday voting for community, conference room is huge and staffs are friendly.

I attended for a Union conference. The food was good. Bar service was good. My room was clean, big, a couple TVs. Only thing it didn't have was a bathtub/Jacuzzi. Stand up shower only. The conference rooms are equipped with projectors, and there was good audio equipment. Everyone could hear everything. Overall, I'm quite pleased with my stay.

Internet speed has finally been upgraded. However, the service is deteriorating. Last time when I was there, I have to line up for 30 min to get checked in, app didn't work. You still have to wait for the front desk to get the keys. This time, the cleaning is so unprofessional. We left a glass on the table in the morning, it was still there at night when we came back. The cleaning is not done and bed was made poorly, as good as mine. Thanks God, a new Marriott nearby is opening soon.

Absolutely loved my stay. Parking was available everywhere, and easy access from the hotel rooms with the seemingly endless walkways. Room was spacious and comfortable for a small or large group of people. McDonalds is right across the street, so good is not an issue. Shopping centres are only minute drives away and is easy to get on the highway from here. The ONLY complaint I have is signs leading towards the pool and gym, as we spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out where we could swim. As well, the pool did look slightly deceiving from the picture. Overall, this was an amazing experience and would love to attend again

Hotel is in a great location. Especially with downtown Markham developing just around the corner. There is a lot of parking around the hotel which is also a plus. Service was good. Rooms were clean and also well stocked with all the essentials you need. All in ask this Is a nice hotel especially for how old it is.

The hotel is beautiful and modern. The reception and service was average and not, as one would expect for a four star hotel top notch. Rooms are spacious and clean and well appointed. The bathrooms are rather small but clean. Room service food was above average but not great. Truly disappointing was that room service shuts down at 11 pm. All in all a very nice hotel but needs work to be a true four star experience.

I was there for a conference. Spaces are nice, lots of options. Not awesome in terms of accessibility if you've got mobility issues. More signage would be helpful! Staff overall very friendly, but when I tripped in the lobby, not one on staff offered assistance even though one clearly saw me on the floor. Thankfully, I was with some helpful colleagues.

Good place to stay for a weekend hockey tournament. Would have gone with four stars but the pool is not ideal for a youth hockey team. It's not part of the hotel but rather part of the gym that's connected to the hotel. So it's not ideal for a dozen nine years olds to get in and throw a football around. The rooms are nice but oddly setup. There's a living room like space when you first enter separated from the bedroom by a small hall and a door. This makes for two small spaces as opposed to one great room with more space to move around. They also have a policy, which was explained to me as an insurance issue, that limits the use of the baggage cart to the doormen. So unless you're willing to tip the doorman for wheeling your cart up to your room or back to your car, you'll end up making a few trips back and forth with your bags. On a positive note, the breakfast is fantastic! It's a must try part of the hotel.

I was here for a meeting and the hotel staff was friendly and courteous. The hotel conference rooms were clean and we'll stocked. Complementary coffee and tea was provided at the meeting. There is also a great fitness center where you can play sqaush. A physio center. After the meeting, went to go see a chiropractor by the name of Jonathan. He is amazing. Highly recommended if you have any back or rehab issues.

Room was modern and clean and also featured an interior door to separate the bedroom from the decent sized sitting room. Both the bed and the pillows were super comfy. Front desk staff were friendly and checking in was done quickly. Housekeepers would always smile and say hello if you saw them in the hallway. The conference rooms were good and buffet meals offered were good as well.

Nice 4 stars hotel in central Markham! You won't miss it if drive along Hwy 7, the big clock on the building kind of a signature!
The Spa is good & busy always, as well as the gym! They always have function in conference room & every year hold Christmas & New Year party for public!
Rooms need a bit update due to the high traffic! Overall, 4 stars for the hotel!

We went to have the brunch buffet at Essence. It was our first time. The food and service was excellent. However, the price I would say is too pricey that I would probably not do it again. It was good food but I can eat good food elsewhere and pay significantly less. $130 for brunch for my wife and kid is a bit too much.

Very nice hotel conveniently located near Markham civic centre. There are walking distance some restaurants, but if you want to go to nicer ones, you will definitely need a car. It is the need hotel gym that I've seen (as it is an external attached gym that you can access). Breakfast is not included by default

I was at the Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites for a celebration event. We used the Markham Ballroom. It was a beautiful room with wonderful and helpful staff. The food was buffet style and was delicious. The bathrooms were clean and presentable. The audio system did need a bit of improvement and to be easier to plug in, but overall it was a great experience.

The staff were pleasant and helpful, even though I arrived at 1AM. The facility is beautiful and modern, and the rooms are all recently renovated. There's a separate bedroom and living area in each room, allowing two people to comfortably share space.

The Hilton Markham is a beautiful hotel. I highly recommend staying here if you have business in the area.

The only reason a star is missing is that the room service never picked up the phone... I went there to get a good night sleep before a race the next morning and the fire alarm went off in the building, 3 times, keeping us awake till way past 9 p.m.... it's not the fault of the hotel but.. yeah... rooms are clean and big. Service is courteous.

I was on the 4th floor right by the elevator. It was a good room even with wedding guests and parties going on we couldn't hear much of it when on the bed. However, the bed itself was very soft and bouncy which we didn't like as much. The pillows were nice and plump though. Our shower head had a tendency to droop down as the water pressure decreased, which made it difficult to shower at times. Other than that our stay was very nice, the cleaning service was great and respectful.

Great hotel, great service. Only issue is when you order room service, note that there is a $3 fee for delivery, 15% fee for gratuity, $3 fee for "misc.". I have yet to figure out what that is, plus it is still expected to tip on top of all that. Otherwise this hotel is awesome. The suites are huge!

We checked in earlier tonight. We booked the weekend getaway plan and the plan name also appears in my confirmation e-mail. However, two ladies at the front desk first denied breakfast and late check-out as promised by the plan. To be honest I don't like their attitude which makes me feel like I am a theft. But I PAID FOR IT. Even if the confirmation specifically says it's a weekend getaway plan, staff still said it was just regular discount. Eventually, they found the plan and apologized in a pretty reluctant manner. Room is good, but staff needs more training.

The Markham Suites Conference Center & Spa is a very nice hotel located in Markham, a suburb of Toronto.
The hotel offers ample parking around the spa, hotel, and in a separately located garage. Rooms are large and well appointed; not overly luxurious, but very comfortable.
The hotel has a nice restaurant serving meals throughout the day. The hotel also has an executive lounge for Hilton members to enjoy. While I stayed, I had meals both in the restaurant, and using the room service. All meals I had using both methods were very good.
The hotel is a nice place to stay and is conveniently located to many attractions in the downtown Toronto area.

I stayed here for 2 night for a wedding banquet. This Hilton looked decent based on how to lobby looks, and the conference centre and banquet hall look classy and fit for a wedding.

The rooms are all suites - meaning they are a very good size, with a living room area and a separate bedroom area. However, you can see that the interior is very dated, as the paint has chipped off and the doors looking very old despite having a modernized bathroom and bedroom. The bed itself is very comfortable.

2 our of the 4 elevators broke down during my stay, and I frequently have to wait a long time for them.

The breakfast buffet is poor - the food selection was very limited and super expensive for what it is. There is a Cora's nearby (within a 5 min walk) and I would recommend going there for breakfast/brunch instead.

Overall, this Hilton is just OK

Nice lobby. Some of the workers at the front didn't know about restaurants in the area and were not up to date with closing times on various places in the hotel. Celebrated my friend's wedding reception in the ballroom. The staff were very friendly, the venue was beautiful, and there was plenty of space for guests to mingle. We did have a bit of trouble getting high chairs (had to ask a few times - the hotel had lots of events going on at once, so there were many families around). Brunch at the restaurant was very good with a great variety and tasty desserts, just a bit pricey ($100 for two people after tax and tip). The dim sum we had at the Chinese restaurant before the wedding was delicious, too. They could have done a few more cleaning sweeps of the washrooms and need to put changing tables in the men's room - my husband had to be escorted to the ladies room by a staff member to change our little one. Overall we had a great time and the wedding reception was fantastic!

I was extremely impressed with one of the reception staff members. After the first night in the hotel I asked her if there is anything to do regarding bed sizes: they were small and we were not very comfortable. She tried very hard and I was able to get much better accommodations for my family at an excellent rate. I came back to say thank you and she said something amazing: "I'm very glad to help: you are smiling now; you weren't a few minutes ago."
Now that is exceptional. EDIT: Said staff was Mme. Grace Cowan.

Visited and stayed at the Hilton in Markham for a wedding. The facilities were far beyond expectation. The venue was VERY well maintained, cleaned, and organized. Horrible service from the bar staff. I arrived early for an event and sat at the bar. Ordered a coke.. after a little while waiter comes back and ask what other drink I want. I said no more and she said then I have to leave the bar area if i don't order any more... why?!? The function venue was great but the wait staff was rude and very unprofessional. What an embarrassing staff for a nice hotel. If I wanted a nice function for my business, it wont be here just by the staff. Great hotel, poor services... they need to retrain.

I really love this hotel. It is clean, full kitchen we have, no smoking rooms, stuff is very friendly, very nice gym(full size). Sauna, swimming pool, bar where you can get some drinks, breakfast (free), it is very nice place. Most important for me that it is clean and all appliances like new. Also want to tell that parking coast me $10 extra dollars. And if anyone planning to come visit you they must pay for the parking. I saw people who is working on the parking lot walking around and monitoring where you go and if you pay. So don't think you the lucky one.

Convenient location. We had a room with 2 doubles and a kitchen with a pull out sofa. Ended up sleeping on the sofa instead of the bed because the bed was too soft. Other than that, no complaints. Room was smoke free, shower pressure ok not great. Room was quiet.

The location is perfect, to accessed the hotel at different angles. The workers were very courteous and helpful. They treated us like we were their only guests. Lots and lots of parking. The parking for the overnight guests are completely separated. There are coverage for those parkings. I would definitely go back also recommend this hotel anyone for their next stay. Keep you the good work. Absolutely, absolutely incredible service.

My firm frequents the Hilton for conferences. Love the breakfasts there! The conference rooms have all the audio and video equipment you need. And, the staff are friendly and helpful with whatever you need.

Very nice hotel. I was upgraded with my silver status which surprised me to a room with a kitchen. Great staff.

I've stayed here repeatedly over the years. When I was first here about 10 years ago it was very impressive. Recently the rooms are definitely more dated and worn than they should be for a Hilton. Although I would have to say the service remains quite excellent.

I don't normally go through the trouble of writing a hotel review but this is the best Hilton property I have ever stayed at. Rooms look very new and front desk service was great. Executive lounge is nice.

You get a hint of luxury in the decor and architecture of the Hilton Suites, with a convenient location near the 407, and spacious rooms. The beds are quite comfortable, and although the rooms start to show their age on occasion, they're fairly well kept. For meetings, an overnight business stay, or personal travel this is a pretty good property.

I've made a handful of visits to this hotel for business. We always arrive late and are always upset by the bar closing at 11. Going to your room after a 4 hour flight already upset make the lack of Chromecast connection on the TV is another setback for an otherwise very attractive hotel. Overall it's a nice place for someone looking for a place to sleep, but business is changing and the new business people want more than looks and overpriced food.

Rooms are nice. Free Internet is slow and paid is expensive. Hotel food is fine but cost way too much. Typical Toronto hotel experience in that regard. Would still recommend for a professional event. Good venue for that. A lot of rooms and conference space available. It must be their specialty.

Overall a nice stay. Interesting suite rooms. There was some garbage left in the bed side table drawer; cleaning was not completely thorough. Would recommend for an affordable stay.

Have been here numerous times for conferences. Most recently met a few old friends for drinks. A bit irked to have to pay for parking. In the suburbs! Wine was so-so, cappuccino was acceptable. Service was attentive but then it was a snowy Sunday afternoon. Place was not exactly hopping!

Pros: Nice suits. Good views from the upper floors.
Decent food. Nice staff.
Cons: The local programming on the TV didn't work therefore leaving pay-per-view as the only choice.
The air in the hotel was very dry.
The safe is attached to the wall in a way that the door was opening towards you thus making access to the safe very cumbersome. It could've been easily moved to another wall but clearly this wasn't thought through by the hotel personnel.

The rooms here are big and comfortable, the amenities are sufficient and there is a Eforea spa. The hotel restaurant closes early but there is room service which I did not find satisfactory it seems they often get the orders wrong... I have ordered over 4 times and 3 of those times it was a wrong or incomplete order, which would have been okay if the food was not so expensive. Water is also a problem. No water fountains and $3.00 a bottle for vending machines. But the overall experience is good. The spa is excellent and I have visited it many times and will do so again... as for my staying I will probably explore other places when I visit Markham.

Had our wedding reception at the Hilton about a year ago. It was amazing. The staff on site, especially Loraine, was very accommodating. A year to the day we had our anniversary dinner there, and they were able to get the chef that cooked the meal. It was as delicious as I remembered. Would definitely recommend and go again

Room very spacious, comfortable and clean. Little gift shop was great with pleasant staff. Room service was prompt however food was hit and miss. Appetizers good but will not order steak again missed that 2 times. Customer service did offer me free dessert which made me happy but lost appetite so it was wasted on me. Rating just on the stay would be a 5 however the food hurt my experience.

Was there for a wedding. Elegant and comfortable setting. Attentive service, though a bit lacking in professionalism in terms of food service.

I was there for a work event recently -didn't stay overnight. Parking was easily accessible, nothing too complicated. It is a paid parking lot though - just be aware. Walking in, I was greeted by the concierge, and some other staff, with a smile. They were very helpful. The lobby and bar area were clean and had a nice modern feel.
There are a multitude of conference rooms to suit any event. The catering was good - breakfast was ok (the fruit tasted odd) but lunch was really good (fish sandwiches, salads...).
It was overall a nice experience.

The lobby bar is very nice, the restaurant is satisfactory (desserts are excellent), but the service is only passable. The room was a little worse for wear. Overall a 7/10.

Very nice hotel, personable staff, good food. Only problem I encountered was the hotel has a $1500 cap on the bill. I believe the hotel front desk will adjust it properly.
