Not bad, considering that it's a 2-star hotel. Towel swan is a bit goofy but kind of charming.

Pros:
- big, clean room
- well-appointed (fridge, microwave, iron, Keurig)
- soft and firm pillows

Cons:
- a bit of a walk from downtown Redwood City (only 15 min) and not really much nearby
- beds are a little too soft
- desk is a bit of a fail 😆 (see photos)

Two star hotel with clean, well appointed, modern rooms that are on par with most three star hotels. Enough room for a king size bed and a three seat sofa and coffee table. Walking distance to downtown Redwood City. The busy, commercial location is the only detractor. Recommend staying on the side opposite the Wendy's for a quieter stay. Sound buffering between rooms is typical of a two star hotel (wood construction likely, rather than concrete) but seems to attract respectful business traveler clientele, so noise wasn't a problem.

This is by far the best HIE I've stayed at, and they are my goto chain. The housekeeping staff was super friendly, the bed and pillows were fantastic and the breakfast was superior to the usual good HIE fare. I'll be staying here the next time I'm in the Valley

Best HIE I have ever stayed at!
-Classy (small) hotel.
-Extra helpful and friendly staff.
-Breakfast is better than normal HIE stays. They have Cinnabon and the coffee is wonderful.
-"Relay" the robot is awesome! He delivered snacks to us twice. First night, he delivered a birthday card and snacks to my daughter. That was the nicest touch I've ever experienced at any IHG hotel!!!

Will stay here again and again.

Very clean, very nice staff. Ac and tv are very aggressive with turning off. Amenities great. Breakfast was long and delicious. Checkout is an hour earlier than usual.

I've only stayed one night out of four so far, so this is based mostly on check in and the single night stay. Hotel is nice, had an easy check in process, free parking, complimentary breakfast and rooms have blackout curtains, microwave, mini fridge and coffee makers. These are all things I value in a hotel stay. Room is spacious and has a tub/shower. The downside is the windows are thin, so if people are hanging out in the parking lot having a conversation, you can hear the whole thing (all night long). Additionally, it is very perfumey, so if you have allergies or are sensitive to perfumes or certain scents, you will not be happy there. It is highly perfumed.

Only reason not a 5 is no pool but otherwise was extremely clean. TV was nice and big. Room was clean and very nice. Maid left towel animals on bed and fruit on a tray for a snack. Breakfast was wonderful with lots of choices and food was good not like your typical continental low quality hotels. Would definitely stay again. Lots of restaurants nearby.

Room is outstanding. Even the guest bathroom is elegantly decorated. The Continental breakfast was one of the best I've seen. Overall great stay.

The hotel itself is very weird for a Holiday Inn Express, with a tiny lobby and weird layout more reminiscent of a Super 8 than a modern Holiday Inn Express. The common areas are basically non-existent. I was all prepared to be super disappointed but the rooms are actually surprisingly lovely, and clearly very recently renovated. The furniture looks good and works effectively in the room. There are also a bunch of nice touches like fancily-folded towels and welcome notes that all speak to real effort on the part of the hotel staff to make the experience the best it can be in the building they have to work with. For what it's worth, my room was quite close to the breakfast room and I didn't hear any noise, but I was hit by the smell of breakfast potatoes starting around 6 a.m. Your call on whether that's a good thing. So, all in all, it's not mindblowing, but they clearly try hard to make their guests have a good experience.

Elegant modern & new interiors, very clean, professional staff, a robot to deliver snacks was novel and cute. Delicious, fresh, free breakfast. We planned to stay one night and move to San Francisco hotel. We loved it so much it became our hub for travel in central CA for the last few days of our trip. Sculpture towels, quiet & spacious. An oasis and unexpected gem.

Extremely nice rooms, great showers, extremely comfortable bed but the best part was the front desk service from Victoria. One of the most professional, polite, accommodating and friendliest personalities that I've ever dealt with amongst my many different hotel stays. A++ service from her and the housekeeping crew! I am extremely pleased with how she has handled everything we've needed, we will definitely book here again!

Stayed for a couple nights on business travel. It's a pleasant upgrade from 'budget' accommodations in the area with some nicer amenities for not much more money. They've worked on bringing an air of refinement into the lobby and eating areas that I appreciated. Well-lighted below-ground parking is a good plus too.

This is a great hotel. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. The breakfast is as good as it gets in my opinion. There is also a little robot that travels around the hotel giving gifts. It's great.

Location as I was driving to hotel concerned me a little. Once I was in, the staff was friendly and helpful. Room was fresh, clean, and very modern. Breakfast was good. I'm glad that I tried the cinnamon rolls last as a filler item as I could have easily eaten 10 of them if I had an empty stomach. Great hotel...would go back again.

Very nice little hotel. Staff is friendly, rooms were clean, and breakfast was delicious. The one big pain point was that every single morning, 3 days in a row, there was a semi truck right outside my window unloading or something and sounded like a dumpster getting thrown around by Ironman at around 4 or 5 in the morning. Extremely loud and very bad for sleep. It's not the hotel's fault, but it's a definite negative to the location, depending on which room you get.

Considering that I originally booked this hotel based on price alone, it was a super pleasant surprise! I've always had pretty good luck with Holiday Inn Express hotels, but this one definitely exceeded my expectations, with rooms that are modern and updated, plenty of free parking (not a given in the area), an excellent housekeeping staff (thank you for the daily towel animals!), and a super friendly desk clerk who will forever be my hero for getting me back into my room after I somehow managed to throw the manual lock on my way out the door. And of course, there's an adorable robot that made me smile in spite of myself! I will definitely book this hotel again!

Very friendly staff. Newly remodeled rooms. Typical HIE breakfast. Fruit infused water at the front desk. In my room, upon arrival, the was a handwritten note wishing me a good start. Every day, there's a new animal made out of towels on the bed. Today, there was also an apple and a pear in the room.

Wonderful place to stay from every angle! Really affordable (especially for the area) with more than adequate free parking. Good location central to SF/SFO/San Jose, but still quiet at night. Front desk staff was fast and responsive. The room was prepared with so many cute, unique touches beyond what I would expect for a Holiday Inn Express - towels folded into intriguing creatures, hand-written welcome messages (with stickers!), and a toilet paper bow to boot. And of course there's the adorable R2-D2-like room service robot. Breakfast was delicious, especially the cinnamon buns. Used the gym - rudimentary but functional, well-stocked with clean towels and sanitizing wipes. Only theoretical issue - I was here for vacation and could care less, but if I were here on business, the slow WiFi and minimal business center amenities might have been frustrating.

In all, the bay area always feels crowded, but this hotel has really made the best of the limited real estate, and even though the lobby and rooms are on the small side, it feels cozy rather than cramped thanks to the above-and-beyond attitude of all the staff.

This hotel is very nice and modern. Lots of outlets in the room and the TV connections are even in front of it instead of on the side or behind, if that is a concern of yours. The Relay robot is a neat feature. It even visits you at breakfast to ask how it went. The staff were very nice. The only problems I can think of are that the breakfast did not have many options and the view from the window was not great.

Clean, quiet, and modern looking rooms with lots of accommodations for every technology you may have. Great complimentary breakfast, and the room prices were very reasonable and comparable to others in the area. Relay, the robot was very cool and brought us a welcome snack to our door!

I am a repeat visitor. The location is clean, the people are friendly, and cost is reasonable. It's been weeks since my last visit, and the topic came up about hotel television remotes, and how nasty they could be. So I mentioned how this hotel disinfects them between guests. My friends were impressed. Also, the breakfast is very good.

My husband told me it was not a very nice hotel, but I disagree. Helpful front desk, very comfy room, good breakfast food - why is it not nice? Ok, there's Wendy's drive through right next to it, so you may hear it from the window. But I slept well and noticed only positive things about my stay.

Nothing screams Silicon Valley like a robot house keeper! Love the little robot that delivered a goodie bag to my room! I also love knowing a human works here too with the hand drawn flower with my name on it. Was one of the best experiences at a Holiday Inn I've ever had, would love to return.

Listed in Yelp 2015 Challenge, San Francisco
Even though Redwood City isn't too close to SF, the stay at Holiday Inn Express was definitely worth it! The hotel was a bit pricier - around $100 something a night, but with all the amenities and little things that the hotel did, the stay was, again, worth it.

The location of the hotel is about 45 minutes away from SF. It's located close to a McDonald's and another popular breakfast joint. There's also another hotel right next door. I also liked the fact that this hotel recently underwent a renovation, making everything look much more modern and comfortable.

PROS:
-My sister and I were completely caught off-guard by the little robot that the hotel uses to deliver items to guests. We ran into him on our way back to our room, and being the curious hotel guests that we were, accidentally blocked him from the elevator in order to take photos of him. Of course we went back to our room to request Relay the Robot to deliver an item to us. Seriously the best part of the hotel trip! He gets programmed to take items to the guests' rooms, and upon arriving, will call the room to let the patrons know he is outside. The hatch on top will open and you basically take your items and he goes on his merry way back to his charging station. Super amazing!
-The free continental breakfast. Even though we were in SF to eat, I couldn't help but sneak a few bites of their breakfast. They had a wide assortment of items - oatmeal, bacon, omelets, cereal, muffins, bread, biscuits, yogurt, milk, almond milk, fruit. And everything was tasty! There were hotel workers standing around to help refill and clean the tables to make sure the breakfast area stayed clean.
-Neverending bowl of fruit. They have bowls of fruit in the lobby and in the breakfast area where guests can swing by to grab an apple, banana, or orange (while they last). This made me super happy.
-1 minute pancake maker! Super amazing. You push a button. It makes a pancake. And then another one. And they're incredibly tasty!
-Covered parking lot and a few electric charging stations. However, the covered parking spots are limited, so if you return too late, you have to park in the outdoor area. There aren't too many spaces, but we never had a problem finding parking.
-WiFi was pretty fast.
-They have printers and computers on each floor (I believe) after you exit the elevators. This comes in handy if you need to print a coupon or directions to a place! They even provide the paper!
-The rooms are super nice. There's a fridge and microwave, along with a hairdryer in the bathroom. They even included a personalized message on the notepad welcoming us to our room. And - they had cute towel animals on our bed each afternoon they finished cleaning.
-The bath soaps and shampoos were good quality. I believe it was from Bath and Body Works: White Citrus scent.
-They have a small fitness center. Granted, there's only one treadmill, one elliptical and one bicycle inside, but it works if you just want to do a little cardio. There's also a water fountain and complimentary towels inside of the fitness center area.
-They have complimentary cookies in the lobby that are baked fresh daily! We always tried to catch them bringing out the cookies, but we always came when they were all taken. There's also fruit water in the breakfast area as well as hot water and assortment of teas that are available 24/7.
-Bed was comfortable. There's air conditioning and a heater.

CONS:
-The walls are a little thin, so you can hear into the hallway.
-Redwood City is still quite a drive away from SF.

Seems like the pros really outweigh the cons!

its a good hotel, stayed in here for 3 week in HQ visit, The rooms are clean well maintained. The front desk guys are very friendly and ready to help anytime.

The breakfast was good initially but boring with repetition a bit later during stay. Same menu everyday, pan cakes, cereals, break, yougurt, fruits, juice, milk and coffee. The best of all was their cinnamon rolls and coffee. Chef is very friendly

The eatery options around the hotel are abundant. Accessibility is good as this is right on el camino,

Hotel room was perfect. The hotel itself was great too but not in the best location. Our room overlooked a restaurant drive thru and the area is not family-friendly. I would not be comfortable walking around the area.
