Excellent location, nice rooms with interesting views, pet friendly. The elevators are a challenge... Shared as a service elevator, wait times are long. The parking garage is small also, so spaces late in the day are tough to find.

From a perspective of a family of two adults and two little kids. The rooms are a tight fit but we made it work. The room is nicely appointed with your basic amenities and if you've forgotten any toiletries the front desk should be able to help you out. There is also a small fridge and coffee maker for those wondering.
We picked this place because it was located in downtown Halifax, it had a pool for the kids and had overnight parking. The Inn is located on the west side of downtown, less than a 10 minute walk from casino Halifax. Most places are within walking distance but we drove to places located on the east side of the city like the Discovery centre and Seaport Market (approximately 20-30 min walk from hotel). The pool is small but good enough to get the kiddos energy out. They even have fresh towels available. The pool does however get quite busy in the evening. We paid $22 dollars for overnight parking and there were a lot of spaces available.
Added bonus to our stay was the free breakfast. While not the most fanciest affair, most breakfast staples (yoghurt, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, pastries, drinks) were covered. We had pancakes, ham and eggs available on our morning.
Check in/out was quick and service was stellar. Overall, I would definitely recommend the Hampton Inn.

Great rooms, parents mind the pool

Thanks to TripAdvisor I called early and asked for a room on a higher floor and got a newer room facing the water. Despite being rainy/foggy while we were in town the view was still great.

Loved the room, was a good size and the washroom was big too. Helpful as I had my small kids with us. Larger fridge in the room with a very user-friendly contemporary design.

I took pictures of the art because all over the hotel was this contemporary Maritime photography that was so vibrant - really loved it.

Location is good and central.

Breakfast is included and free, sausages and French toast the day we left, was great. Waffle maker was a big hit.

Staff were professional and very cool and collected, fabulously fast check in and out.

Parking is $25 and has in/out but it fills up by early evening due to the fact that this hotel shares a property with the Homewood Hotel.

Which brings me to my only real negative note (otherwise would be five stars) and a big warning to parents - I travel on business to Halifax a lot and there are other hotels I like in town but I paid more than I would usually pay to have a pool for my kids. This pool is small, no exaggeration it’s less than 10 feet wide AND it is a shared facility with the other Hotel. There is an odd design that blocks your view from the seating area - and since there isn’t enough room for parents and children it is like a bathtub full of kids with parents (in bathing suits because we all intended to swim until we got to the pool) sitting around it. Do not book here if a pool is a priority.

On business or looking for a central location, then this is your place.

*There is a good sushi place right across the street (Roll it Up) that has big party trays you can walk over or have delivered.

Nice location within walking distance to the waterfront, Pier 21 museum, Halifax Citadel, the Natural History Museum, Discovery Centre etc, etc and countless bars, restaurants and shops. Hotel has the standard you would expect from a Hampton Inn--nice pool for the kids, good breakfast, comfy beds. Nice addition was the in-room safe.

Very nice and contemporary hotel. Clean spacious rooms. Nice staff. Parking seemed a touch high at $22/night. And a little bizzare that all the cutlery and dishes to be found (coffee cups, water glasses, plates, etc) are disposable. Location is very good though. Nice waking distance from everything. 4/5.

Stayed here while in town on business. Very friendly staff at the front desk. Good sense of humour too, which is great.

Room and bathroom were both clean and fresh. BIG screen tv in the room was a bonus for watching TSN highlights while working late at night.

Hotel bar has happy hour I think Mon to Fri? Very cheap pints of Keith's. (Brewery is basically next store. It will be the freshest you've ever had!)

Mid to higher end hotel in Halifax. Rooms are nice and clean, top floors have a nice view. Not much on site (pool on bottom floor) but everything is within walking distance so no problem. Drop off / pickup is off the main street which is nice.

This was always our go to hotel chain, but we will be shopping for another on our next visit.
Our stay this week, while on spring break was less than good. There were major lacks in the cleaning department. Our room was dirty, previous customers hair in shower, dirty remote, dirty sheets/bed linen. (I cant upload the photos :/). The pool was so cold our children did not want to swim in it.
All personnel was very friendly. That's why they at least got a 2 star rating.

Customer service was weak. Fruit was not consistently available as it usually is. A particular desk clerk was unresponsive to an immediate need of a house phone with an outgoing call capability. When the fruit situation was addressed there was no corrective action. A manager did finally allow us to use the desk phone. Rooms were OK, although I believe the device outlets fried my adapters as none of them worked when we returned home. Not the typical Hampton Inn experience.

Close to downtown. Surrounded by restaurants. Mall nearby. Rooms were a little small but definitely sufficient. Parking structure not attached to building so it was a little windy this time of year - would prefer an attached parking structure. Also only served breakfast. There was no option to buy lunch or dinner there.

Highly recommended! The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast (included) had great variety, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I was here for a business meeting as well, and the conference centre staff was very accommodating. The conference rooms were well equipped, and the chairs were comfortable. It's well-situated in the downtown area, close to several good restaurants and hot spots, a short walk from the waterfront, and right next door to a craft brewery!

Hampton Inn is an amazing place to stay in Halifax. Its a good option and its not that far from downtown Halifax. The location seems little quiet in the night and there are not many restaurants nearby except a sushi place which is amazing btw and a brewery. The breakfast served every morning is the best thing of the restaurant. Please do not miss this. Its lavish and it feels great to have so many options. The rooms are tidy as well. They don't have their own in house restaurant which is a bummer. The staff is well behaved and very courteous. This hotel gets constant new bookings. So make sure you book in advance. They also have an in house laundry and dryer service. Halifax downtown is usually quiet in the night. Also its a stone throw away from the Citadel. Take the 13-16 floor corner room as an option. Amazing view of the Citadel.

The rooms are really nice and updated, showers are great, but no HDMI cable for the TV unfortunately. Parking is extremely expensive at almost $20 a night. Hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. Staircase access as well. Breakfast buffet was good but it's a bit of a waste as they only had paper plates and plastic cups that everyone would put in the trash. Not very environmentally minded.

I was very happy with the service, the hotel room, the cleanliness, and the conference rooms. I was also very pleased with the complimentary breakfast buffet and the lunch we had. My one complaint is that my pillowcases were dirty! They looked like they had spots of mildew or mold on them. I told the front desk about it and they said they would let someone know about it. It made my experience very unsatisfactory.

Great place to stay! Really clean rooms, quiet, and secure. The breakfasts are pretty good, with plenty of choices of fruits, drinks, cereals, and hot eggs and meats. Though, it's pretty obvious that artificial eggs are the staple there; not a huge fan of "egg jello."

I'd stay there again, though. And I'd recommend the place to my friends.

Easy walking distance to everything downtown.

Pro: Very clean and nice looking room! Bed was comfortable and we had a great view! We were super close to the scotia bank center making it a perfect place to stay after the bluenose marathon. I loved the need for a key card to use the elevator, it made me feel safer. Con: hard to get to the hotel with a car because of the evens going on (even though it's not the hotel's fault)

The Hampton Inn by Hilton is a wonderful hotel close to everything downtown Halifax. 5 minute walk to the casino, the Scotiabank center where many concerts are held as well as some of the best restaurants in Halifax. They have a indoor pool as well as I nice sized weight room right beside the pool. The best part I found was the complementary HOT breakfast which had amazing roasted potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles which also had the option to put fresh fruit on and MUCH MUCH more! It is one hotel I would very much recommend!

Great rooms at a fair price. We paid 119.00 +HST. Their complimentary breakfast was outstanding. The kids loved the waffles. As you can see in my photos, they were indeed a big hit. The coffee was good. There was fresh fruits and yogurt. Toast. English muffins. Sausages, eggs, home fries. Cereal, juices, and plenty of seating. The location was excellent. Park in the parkade and walk just about anywhere downtown. The staff were helpful and friendly. The amenities were acceptable. Aside from our alarm clock going off at 6am for some random reason, I give this Hotel a 10/10. BTW the pool is salt water. Not chlorine. I wouldn't hesitate to book here again.

Not too bad of a price for such place. There is still room for improvement though. There were instances where I thought they could have done better but that's just my experience it might not be happening to everyone. ie. (1) An almost finished roll of TP was still hanging on the dispenser when I checked it. (2) the breakfast service was a little slow and very limited (3) long blond haired lady before me left her DNA specimens on my pillow! (4) $20 a day for parking was just not right...
Those are the negatives but... The staff were exemplary! Even the slow breakfast staff very super kind and polite, but over loaded maybe.

To get the best rates for a school group, we booked rooms at the non-refundable rate. Unfortunately, an 'act of god' occurred with a massive snowstorm that prevented our trip to Halifax. Initially I was only offered a credit, but this was useless as we would not be returning for this event. Eventually was able to speak with the manager, Megan, who was able to arrange the refund for us. It also occurred much quicker than she predicted. Thank you for your help.

The room was nice, the view was of the police station so I felt nice and safe! House keeping came knocking at 8am, I don't stay in hotels that often, but 8am on Sunday morning after we were out till 4am was a little irritating. Do all hotels have house keeping knock for a one night stay? Complimentry breakfast ended at 10am, would be nice to stay open till 11am for people who use hotels as a get a way and rarely get to sleep in!

Very nice hotel but not cheap for what it is. Friendly staff but they didn't go out of their way to make the stay special, either. Paid for a 'room with a view' and got a sliver of the Halifax harbour between two neighboring high-rises. Very nice location, though; minutes from everything seemingly in the while city.

The Hampton Inn provided everything that I could have asked for my needs, and did so artfully and easily. The room was thoroughly comfortable, being slightly larger than the typical fare for economy travelers, and offered relaxing beds of good make. For the mundane travelers like myself, the Hampton Inn gives a step towards the luxurious that we infrequently find

Great room with comfy bed and up to date amenities. My only gripe is the "free" internet, which is supper slow and unusable with the option to purchase the higher speed Internet. This turns out to be a greasy money to grab rather than a nice gesture.
