ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard that outlines how to put an effective environmental management system in place. It is designed to help businesses remain commercially successful without overlooking environmental responsibilities, such as:

• Improve their environmental performance constantly
• Comply with local and national regulations and other requirements subscribed
• Prevent water, air and ground pollution hazards
• Control and optimise water and energy consumption
• Promote waste recycling and recovery
• Raise environmental awareness among employees and train them to adopt good practices in their activity
• Use eco-label housekeeping products

ISO 50001

ISO 50001 is based on the management system model of continual improvement also used for other well-known standards such as ISO 9001 or ISO 14001. This makes it easier for organizations to integrate energy management into their overall efforts to improve quality and environmental management.

ISO 50001 provides a framework of requirements for organizations to:
- Develop a policy for more efficient use of energy
- Fix targets and objectives to meet the policy
- Use data to better understand and make decisions about energy use
- Measure the results
- Review how well the policy works, and
- Continually improve energy management.

Worst hotel experience ever. I usually like Homewood Suites but this one is awful. I prepaid for my room as a Hilton Honors member and upon arriving (after a 9 hour drive) I checked in quickly, got the room keys, and drove around to park near the room at the suggestion of the hostess. We carried all our bags up to the 2nd floor, including our two 4 year olds, got to the room and the keys didn’t work. My husband went back to the front desk and got a second set of keys to try, and those also didn’t work. So I went back to the front desk and she reassigned our room, which was 2 floors up and on the opposite side of the building. We dragged all our stuff to that room, went in and it was the wrong room we paid for - we upgraded to the better room. Again, I went back to the front desk to be reassigned a room. She had no record in her computer that we paid for the better room, so I had to show her my email confirmation as proof. FINALLY she gave us our last and final room which was actually right and we had working keys. No apology, no accommodations, just rude front desk employees that seem like they have nothing better to do than torture their guests. As a cherry on top, I went down to get breakfast for my kids the next morning. I had a lot of stuff to carry up so I requested a tray, which I have gotten plenty of time at other Homewood Suites locations in the last. She told me I had to go back to my room to get the tray from there and that she was not authorized to give me a tray, it was against policy. All the employees here are AWFUL! We will never stay here again.

Update: The day of our departure, the hotel manager called me and gave us a full refund on our room. It was a bad experience but she made it right by refunding our money, so I changed my review from 1 star to 3 stars.

Very disappointed. The suites were small although cosy. Then in the morning we had to use the stairs because the elevator was out of order. At that time I did not realize there was a second one at the rear of the building which was quite far from my room. Then I was sadened with their breakfast. Very few choices and no sausage. I usually like some protein with my breakfast but all they had was a sandwich with croissants which looked shapeless and too cheesy. I enjoy Homewood suites but this one is really low in my list.

Fairly nice, but had a very annoying problem with the keycard system. We weren't the only room, we had to go back to the front desk about five times before it finally worked, and the lady next to us said it took more times.

Could be an isolated problem, but as I said this was a major annoyance and we're pretty easy going. The room was clean, and well set up.

I haven’t stayed here but we have our monthly Hagerstown Civil War Round Table Meeting here and the meeting facilities are great. The staff that prepare the room and the meal are just the best. They serve dinner to guests in to lobby. Our guest speakers sometimes stay here and the rates are good for the area.

My apartment was recently burnt in a fire, and this hotel gave my family excellent service and a very practical room. It was easy to communicate with the staff whenever we had issues or needed things for our room. The daily breakfast buffet and evening spreads were awesome as well! Would definitely recommend staying here!

It's a great family place and we've stayed at HW Suites a dozen times and at least 6x at this location. Unfortunately there were some issues this time. The card machine wasn't working and required 3 efforts to reprogram while the family waited to get in the room following a long drive as I went back and forth to the front desk. Next the sofa-bed, once opened up was covered in crumbs. The night assistant manger was great and helpful changing the mattress cover but it's too bad that housekeeping missed it. I'm a fan but these things can't happen.

Nice room. Fairly well appointed. A/C not terribly cold, the ceiling fan was set on the lowest setting up on a 12 foot ceiling with no way to increase the speed. The coffee station had nothing but cold coffee and cold "hot water" apparently not replaced since breakfast (the room manual states there is hot coffee in the lobby 24/7). The reception dinner or snack had barely anything salad and soup and chunks of bread and a little bit of lemonade and water to drink. I don't drink beer and wine and with cold coffee, the choices were slim. No huge deal, but if you've ever stayed at the Homewood Suites in Slidell, LA, this one here in Hagerstown, MD will leave you sorely disappointed. Mostly OK, just not as good as other HS. The ladies at the desk were polite and cheery. Always appreciated.

Rooms are ok. Nothing special and a little dated. However, we chose it because it is pet friendly but they charge $75 per pet, which is way above norm. The happy hour was nice, but they offer no executive lounge. There is no benefit to being a gold hilton honors member. I didn't even get bottles of water.

This was an average Homewood Suites. Room decor was slightly dated and the refrigerator kept freezing everything that I put into it even though I turned it down 3 times. Nice hotel though and I would recommend it if staying in town.

Hotel was well kept for its age but was in obvious need of remodeling. The free breakfast was actually really good for hotel food. However, one of the kitchen staff members for breakfast was very rude and grumpy. Several guests asked for various things about 15min before breakfast "closed". She refused to replenish those items. She replied with "what time is it?" When guests showed up at 10 AM for breakfast she said "we are closed". I'm no hospitality expert but I've stayed enough hotels to know that breakfast is generally fully stocked until the tie they say it end. Usually, at that time they begin to clean up and allow guests to get whatever they would like until it is all cleaned up.

We had a one-night stay on October 17/18. This is one of our very favorite hotels. Our 5th (top) floor room was completely quiet. Never even heard a pin drop. The room was located on the back side of the hotel and faced a wooded area. The manager's evening reception and morning breakfast were both most welcome. Upon arriving home I discovered that I had left my specialized Chromebook charger in the room. We called immediately and the agent said they'd check and get back to me. Ten minutes later I got a return call telling me that they had found the charger and would send it back to me immediately. Top notch operation. Highest marks.

The room was comfortable and nice, the public areas of the hotel were up to date and in good condition. The pillows were not conducive to a good night's sleep. At breakfast the next morning, someone had dropped a sausage link on the floor and the employees walked right past it until a guest took care of it.

We took a chance with the Hagarstown MD exit, traveling from Princeton to Nashville. It turned out there was a tournament in town and there were no vacancies at the first hotel we tried. They (other hotel) directed us to the Homewood Suites and what a treat! The staff was wonderful, the room was spotless and the facility in general was very, very nice. I would recommend this hotel highly!

I have stayed in this hotel several times since it opened a few years ago. The rooms and amenities are very nice and clean. Also, most of the rooms, if not all, have a kitchenette included. The staff are always very pleasant and courteous. The hotel also provides free Internet access and a business office if needed with a printer for boarding passes for your flight. The free breakfast is very good with many options. I would recommend this hotel to any traveler in this area.

I booked a one bedroom suite for a relaxing weekend, just myself, no kids or husband. I chose a one bedroom because it has a bathtub, whereas the "studio suite" is just a shower. When I first entered my room, I squeeled with joy! Really, I did! There's a flat screen TV and DVD player in both the living room and bedroom, 2 burner stove, coffee pot, toaster, dish towels, paper towels, dish soap, pots, pans, silverware, REAL plates and mugs (not paper), complimentary popcorn, microwave, full-size fridge, and black out curtains on both large windows. Very clean. Very quiet. It felt almost like home.

Breakfast includes juices, coffee, tea, milk, a waffle maker, different breads (muffins, bagels, etc.) fruit salad, cereal, yogurt, fresh apples and bananas, and depending on the day scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns.

My only complaints would be...

The pool. It had so much chlorine in it that it burned my eyes just being in the room. When my wet hand got near my face...forget about it! I was terrified to think what would happen if I actually got water in my eyes!

The bed. Now this is purely my individual opinion, but it was way too soft. The same with the pillows. They started off nice and plump but as soon your head hits the pillow, it sorta "deflates" and ends up as flat as a pancake. Nothing major, but it did affect my sleep.

Overall, I would definately stay again. I was very impressed with all of the little extras and it makes you feel like you're at a four star hotel.
