We like the location being near shopping, restaurants and the highway (this is why 2 stars)

But and while we understand renovations just started, this process should have started much, much sooner. To say things are "tired" in the room is kind in certain cases. Plus it looks like they stopped maintenance some time back knowing renovations would be starting some day.

Since we are in covid times, I've had to bandaid a few things since we dont want anyone in the room. Some staff dont feel facemasks or distancing necessary. And some with masks weren't exactly well covered. Back to some issues at hand....

The ac ductwork was rattling like mad as we walked in (Cleaning didnt report?). I had to adjust (just sheetmetal) so we could sleep and hear each other talk. The electric stove top burners didnt work. It looks like the socket came out of the holder so had to fix/reconnect the socket into the holder and then the burner into the socket. (Sorry if you have no idea what I am talking about and unless you've seen it before, this may not make sense). My description may suck too. Sorry.

What else, the curve shower curtain rod is hanging down so the curtain likes to open while taking a shower. (Water all over). One of the toilet paper arms is barely hanging in the wall and waiting for that to go. Bottom of tub is very well used (worn). There are other things for repair but those are the highlights....

For cleanliness, it is generally ok. But the details so have to wonder....so we had to use the pullout sofa. Yeah I know a mixed bag sometimes. Oh man the mattress pad was gross, freshly in parts. We had to take it off sleeping on a sheet. Let's not talk about the mattress that looks like it was pick up off the street.

Dishes and pans shoved in dishwasher and run. Normally that's ok but one pan is (was) non stick. The nonstick is beyond gone and falling off (health hazard injesting?) Add to that some excessively burnt, very well baked on, thick substance. Ewwwww.

The experience was certainly a huge disappointment for all of us, even trying to give benefit to the doubt they started renovations recently. Again things should have been let go for this long and no excuse for some of the cleanliness items. And please remind your staff to follow the guidelines to help keep the guests healthy.

Wifi slow when it works and would hate to see the performance when there are actually a number of people here at the hotel. There are also periods of repeated disconnects having to accept the captive portal multiple times in less than an hour creating for a frustrating experience. Sorry kids.

Sorry (sorta) for all the rant but pushed all the buttons.

And as for the property, please don't bother posting the canned acknowledgement or apology. You know what you are doing, or not, already. Or what the issues are.

Great local lodging. This establishment is CDC compliant in its practices of social distancing and sanitary upkeep. Rooms are spacious, beds are plush with fresh linens, the bathrooms are well maintained, but have wipes on hand for quality assurance. The staff is courteous, unpretentious, and friendly.

The Good: it's a beautiful hotel! Clean and up kept well, the staff was also very nice and accommodating to our needs. The room was nice as well!! Didn't get a chance to really do much else as we had just driven 9+ hours & had an event to go to later in the evening.

The Bad: The rates online were $40 cheaper than what we were quoted when we went in... Was pretty disappointed that we were charged more and then on top of it a $50 feet that's held for 7-10 business days.
Didnt come with a microwave
The shower door didn't close? Was strange there was only half a glass panel there to protect you from the cold / to block the water from escaping.

Rooms were definitely spacious enough. The gentleman at check in could have been a little less gruff, but the women who checked us out more than made up for it. Breakfast was adequate (some of the warm food was cold) but they do allow you to share amenities with the connected Hilton. They are about 15-20 mins away from downtown which was nice. Parking is in an outside lot down the road which was a little challenging.

Ok hotel, not the best location I've stayed at but, a decent place to stay minutes outside of the city. This particular location is quite outdated. I arrived on a Tuesday afternoon. The toilet seat was hardly attached. I called to get it repaired, they were there in minutes! The TV didn't quite work the first half dozen times of off and on, I figured it out. When I asked the "cleaning supervisor" in the Hall about the dirty carpet and stains on the couch, she brushed it off as "the furniture is 13 years old". What a horrible response! At just under $165 per night, these things shouldn't be a question, or a problem. As a hotel that has only suites as rooms, my room was rather small compared to other locations I've stayed at with the same name!

Decent hotel, about 20 minutes outside of Center City Philadelphia. The breakfast is good, and during the week they have an afternoon snack/meal with free beer and wine. The pool is actually next door in the Hilton, and it's small and grungy. The fitness center is also in the Hilton. The hotel staff was friendly.

The rooms need some attention. The thermostat didn't work in our room, so it was constantly freezing. One of the toilets had a leak and you could hear it fill every 20-30 minutes, which was enough to disrupt sleep because of how the rooms are setup. I brought this to the attention of the hotel, and they shrugged it off.

Don't assume there will be dish soap in your room, and don't expect housekeeping to do any dishes (including loading/unloading the dishwasher).

We had a good stay in Philadelphia this weekend.(7/6/18-7/8/18) I have to start by saying that Toni is an All-star. Room was great. Staff was great. But I have 2 problems. First the pool area is very small and the floor is very slippery. My 3 year old daughter fell 3 times. The next day we made her pull on water shoes. Second this hotel has very bad internet access. Fix the internet please. Overall we had a great stay and would stay there in the future. Thanks Homewood staff. Great job.

Our go-to get away not far from home. Homewood Suites meets our special needs for both shared and slightly separated spaces. Two rooms allow us separate spaces, but my husband can get to me whenever he needs to. Wonderful, caring staff always eager to help. Amazing Delmonico's restaurant always excellent food and superb service.

Parking is horrible. If you don't want to pull your luggage up a steep incline, don't stay here. Also, every time you have to leave the parking lot you have to stop at the front desk and get the ticket validated and pay $8.00. Moreover, housekeeping did not clean our room on one of the nights we were there. When I called to the desk to inquire, the lady (young, black) was rude. Next time, we will stay at a Marriott brand.

Nice place. Big rooms. Connected to the Hilton. Shared indoor pool. Hot breakfast buffet. Parking is available down the block in a lot for $8 a night or if you can find on street parking. Walking distance to many chain restaurants. Staff was very nice.

Late staff is great but housekeeping need to get there together... I had a housekeeper who talk on the her phone and didn't completely clean and the day staff got mad at me.. I couldn't understand it.. And call me and said i don't think you're happy here.. I said how do know you don't no me to say that it became a big thing.. And contacting the Gm wasn't good either.. But other then I had a good stay...

Nice rooms. Easy lobby. You can find places to chat. HOWEVER the pool area had green mold/slime/algae on the walls and windows. That was really gross. For all the events & meetings being held there, I hoped it would have been more appointed

This one is tough. The staff were excellent and the only reason this review is two stars. BUT... Our first room was filthy, so we moved rooms. The second room was missing the mattress from the pull out sofa, so we moved rooms. The third room I found bed bugs, so we definitely moved rooms. The fourth room, now with four exhausted children in tow and almost 11pm seemed fine. Took the following morning, when I found bed bugs. Now we're decontaminating everything that we had in the room so we don't run risk of infesting our house.

The staff refunded us our money, and we're very receptive to my criticism and accommodated us as they could. But I'm not staying there again

Staff was above and beyond...kind, friendly, and respectful (in town for family funeral). The hotel was clean. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was lacking, but edible. The parking lot was 1/2 block away. But it wasn't awful. Unless it snowed or rained, then it would have sucked.

I rate it 4 stars due to the fact that some minor housekeeping was overlooked but for the most part the room was clean. The only complaint is the walls are thin and you can heard everything ppl are doing in their rooms and Vice versa. Overall a pleasant stay and i would do again. Few recommendations. Please steam clean the curtains, carpet, couches, chair. The sheets need to be wash daily and thrown out after 90 days. Same with towels. The heating was an issue as well but eventually it got warm by the time i went to sleep. The beds are comfy and clean. I didn’t feel grossed out by the sheets. The bathroom was clean as well. I was impressed how clean the lobby was and saw the cleaning lady vacuuming and deodoriszinf the chairs in the am. So kudos to her. So 4 stars cause 5 would mean it’s perfect. Thank you to the city of Brotherly love for the good night rest. I’ll be back.

We celebrated the New Year 2018 in this hotel. We liked it, more pluses than minuses. The staff is friendly, comfortable location, modern interior. We liked the large spacious rooms, comfortable bed and pillows, but the linen did not look fresh. We took a room with a kitchen, very comfortable. Breakfast very early ends at 9.30. For those who like to sleep, such as me and my youngest son, they will not manage to get there. Therefore, I can not say anything about breakfast. From the hotel there is a paid parking. The site writes a price of $ 5 per night, but for some reason we paid $8 per night. In general, we liked the hotel. If on a regular day the price is lower, we would like to return again.

Wasn't able to check into our room early. This would be fine because of the check in "policy" but I know of at least 2 different rooms that were given to people AFTER I had tried to check in. Was promised that if a room was available, I would get a call. No call came. Luckily we were able to get ready for the wedding we were going to in a friend's room. I will never be back to this establishment.

Typical Homewood Suites but staff comes across more business-like than hospitable. Workout room is shared with the Hilton. Only 3 treadmills total and one is broken. Breakfast area has very few outlets to plug into; hard to conduct meetings or get work done. Uber drivers have a very hard time finding this location as well. It is nice that you are in walking distance to restaurants, etc.

My family and me came to visit for a week. I stayed in this hotel for the week. I took a few pictures. I should've taken more. I'm going to start that this hotel is affiliated with Hilton so I expected upscale customer service and the most cleanest, nicest rooms I've ever seen. It was connected to a Hilton hotel as well.
A couple of other guest mentioned this but I stayed in a smoking room on the 3rd floor. I don't smoke but I didn't mind because it didn't smell like smoke when I walked in. There is peeling wallpaper. The carpet was so nasty my socks was dirty walking around the room, housekeeping just walked in without knocking while me and my boyfriend was asleep. Thank goodness I had the chain on the door. The front desk staff wasn't very friendly. Never said hi or anything as I was walking through the lobby. My mother and fathers room had a roach in it so they moved to another room. Breakfast wasn't very good. They kept making eggs with all these extra ingredients in it. I felt like that wasn't good just in case people don't eat all that, which we didn't. Nothing ever happened to my car but I hated parking in the lot down the street and having to have my ticket validated by front desk to be able to get out for free. Otherwise, it's $5 for parking for each exit. The pool was very cloudy. I don't know if it had a lot of chlorine in the pool but I found it to be a little disturbing I can't see the bottom.

I'm still going to call corporate to make them aware of my experience.

There were still pros. I enjoyed the kitchen in the room and I was able to open my window to let in some fresh air.

Fantastic service from everyone here! We stayed two nights as we toured up the coast with our 12 and 13 yr olds. Tony at the front desk came out to the car to greet me and directed the kids to go ahead and take the bags in while I parked across the street in the municiple lot. By the time I got in, she had directed them to the lounge for salad, lasagna and other treats. The next morning she gave us fantastic tips on where to sightsee (Franklin Institute was a huge hit! and Franklin's Creamery amazing!) and how to get to everything. She really went above and beyond with all the time and effort! Many thanks Tony, you're a gem!!!

Great view from my room, kitchenette, nice bed, full breakfast, and a gym. My go to any time I'm in Philly!

Note: downgraded to 4 stars due to second rate laundry facilities. One laundry room with two old washers, one of which is broken. Plus, for what I am paying to stay in a suite, the cost per wash is expensive. It wouldn't be a big deal, but I stay here because my trips are longer than a week.

We arrived very late on Friday, June 3rd after a somewhat hellish night that included having to relocate from a clearly unsafe no-tell motel we booked online. We found this place nearby and were so relieved to find a clean, safe place to stay with a very friendly and accommodating staff.

The room was spacious and comfortable, the free breakfast had a lot of options, and the front desk staff continually impressed us by acting double as concierge when needed. I sincerely thank the front desk staff for all of their help.

Stayed here for a night and liked it for the most part. Room was clean, beds were comfy, and staff was friendly. The only problem? The walls are horribly thin! You can hear everything from the person in the next room taking a leak, to full-on conversations. At one point, my friend heard a guy belching in the room to the left of us. Sort of ruined the ambience. I don't need to feel like our neighbors are in the room with us.

Great clean comfortable beds and room. Staff was super friendly and had personality. Very refreshing for sure. The complimentary Wi-Fi really sucked though. Probably the only complaint I have. They have other paid for options but I was cheap and chose not to spend the $4.95/day. The area seems safe too. We had heard horror stories about certain parts of Philadelphia and were glad this was safe. This Homewood suites is just a part of the same building as the Hilton so its easy for guests to get confused. It is about 15-20 minutes from downtown Philly where most of the tourist attractions are but the drive was pretty easy. Not a walking distance for sure. The business center was also easy and had couple printers too that we able to print a map and our boarding passes for free. The pool here is actually at the Hilton part of the building. Never used it so couldn't tell you anything about it. No hot tub though. Always have a good time at Homewood suites. Not the cheapest but worth the extra money.

My experience was not the best. I stayed during labor day weekend. I booked the room back in July on Expedia. Despite booking it on Expedia I still checked the hotel's official site for anything I may not know of from Expedia. But when I arrived Saturday afternoon I almost had a meltdown. I was of age but still charged for an incidental fee. I was told that they would charge me $100 for incidental on top of the $644.50 they already charged me for the room. I was told that if I paid with a card it would be an extra $100 or if i cashed out it would be $215. The manager kept brushing me off and acting as if I was a nuisance when in all actuality the incidental was discretionary. The confusion and frustration was avoidable I even expressed to him I didn't budget to spend that much when planning the trip.

Dear Mr. Delmonico:

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Homewood Suites, 4200 City Avenue

in Philadelphia on the 30th and 31st of July. We want to express our pleasure and appreciation of the desk clerk, who identified herself as "Toni." I referred to her as a "desk clerk," but she was much more than that. She is a desk clerk, a concierge, a manager--and just a friendly, resourceful, and helpful human being, doing everything with care, celerity, and grace. It's been a long time since I saw someone handle so many things at once, and I worked as a chef for some twenty years. Please convey to her our deep appreciation.

I travel to Philadelphia regularly and choose the Homewood Suites (HS)on city avenue as my first option while booking a hotel. Since last I was there for a longer time, I decided to take my family along.
It works perfect giving you the convenience of an extended stay and premium amenities of a hotel. This HS is perfectly located as I needed to be near to downtown and NE Philadelphia. Some of the major kids attraction , zoo and the museum are also nearby. You get a lot of good eating options on city avenue, in manayunk and the city center.
At arrival We were greeted with a 'Welcome Home' and made to feel the same.. the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Requests for a room change or additional utilities in the room were promptly and cheerfully taken care. breakfast was served fresh and hot every morning and the rooms were kept clean everyday.
Robert and his team with Tony, Alicia, James, Jasmine all made sure that we were treated to the best comfort available.
I recommend staying here for your long/short stay in Philadelphia.
