Certifications

ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard that outlines how to put an effective environmental management system in place. It is designed to help businesses remain commercially successful without overlooking environmental responsibilities, such as:

• Improve their environmental performance constantly
• Comply with local and national regulations and other requirements subscribed
• Prevent water, air and ground pollution hazards
• Control and optimise water and energy consumption
• Promote waste recycling and recovery
• Raise environmental awareness among employees and train them to adopt good practices in their activity
• Use eco-label housekeeping products
• Use sustainable forestry certified paper

ISO 50001

ISO 50001 is based on the management system model of continual improvement also used for other well-known standards such as ISO 9001 or ISO 14001. This makes it easier for organizations to integrate energy management into their overall efforts to improve quality and environmental management.

ISO 50001 provides a framework of requirements for organizations to:
- Develop a policy for more efficient use of energy
- Fix targets and objectives to meet the policy
- Use data to better understand and make decisions about energy use
- Measure the results
- Review how well the policy works, and
- Continually improve energy management.

Staff are incredibly helpful and nice. The property was very clean and well maintained. Our room the huge and we brought our puppy and there was space out in the back for them to run, even had little poop bags.

Easily just as good as staying at a Hilton, or Hilton garden inn. The rooms have partial kitchens, which is good if your here for a longer stay. In the afternoons, they have a social, b in which they usually have dinner like food and free beer and wine.

The bed was comfy and the room was clean but the general upkeep was less than impressive. Broken tile trim in the bathroom a busted transition and water leaking somewhere in the bathroom all added up to a room that did not feel like it was worth the price we paid. We were also placed in a handicap accessible room. As someone who is rather tall this inconvenience is very frustrating.

Great location, clean room and friendly staff. Check in and check out were a breeze. Complimentary parking. I didn’t eat the breakfast but it was offered. Solid property.

Wonderfully quiet place to have a mini vacation or stay during work. It's pretty much no thrills and you get the bare essentials you need to survive. Everything costs money, but nothing is too overpriced at least.

From a location standpoint this place is great, being 5 minutes from downtown Portsmouth and 10 from Kittery, I highly recommend this place, but don't expect the room to blow you away. Great for individuals, but maybe not for the family.

Just beautiful, lot more amenities than I was expecting both at the hotel and in the room. Happy hour with beer, wine, and appetizers in the lobby and a full size refrigerator, stove and microwave in the room. The room was large and comfortable, even with three people. The staff were also great, helpful and friendly.

Our organization held a meeting at this Hotel and the Staff was outstanding! They all went out of their way to make our stay not only enjoyable, but they welcomed us like we were family! Special kudos to Deb, Garreth and Eric! We stayed in the Suites and the rooms were wonderful! It was like staying in our own little apartment.

Our room wasn't available at the normal time, but we were compensated by the friendly front desk staff. Due to this being a Homewood Suites, there's a nice common area on the ground floor where we could wait in comfort. There are many extended stay customers here, and the staff seems to have taken the time to get to know everyone. The rooms are large and the furniture is comfortable. The only reason I can't give this place more stars is the incessant whirring noise in our bedroom, which continued even after we turned off the loud heating unit. It appeared to be coming from the building's air ducts.

We stayed here with our dog for three days while our cat was in the veterinary referral hospital next door. The staff was exceptional and made us very welcome - reserving the room in advance for us indefinitely and completely waiving late checkout for us because of the touch-and-go situation with our cat. This really made an extremely difficult situation much less stressful and I can't even say how much I appreciated it.

The rooms were reasonably priced and the included amenities were a good value. The breakfast was average for a hotel breakfast. The indoor pool was a little cold for our liking so we couldn't really use it.

Great hotel! Staff is friendly and very helpful. Clean hotel. Walls are thick but I'm pretty sure the room above me plays some sort of jumping/running game all day! (I'm talking to you 311) Breakfast is great and dinners are edible. Very generous Happy Hour! A very short drive to downtown Portsmouth, the Albacore, Kittery Maine. York is about 20 minutes and worth the drive. Will stay again and would re comment to anyone

The Homewood Suites of Portsmouth was very accommodating for my family's stay. Rooms were immaculate, with plenty of toiletries. Housekeeping was very kind, as well as the rest of the hotel staff. Free breakfast is included with your stay, and it was more than I expect from any hotel. Perfect for a vacation or long term stay.

Room was a suite, nice and clean. Pillows on the bed were really nice and they had some extra amenities that would have been nice if we were staying more than one night. Breakfast offered do it yourself waffles which was a big plus for me personally

This is my favorite hotel overall of the other ones i have been to!! Great service. Excellent choice of foods during breakfast hours. There was a lady named Cindy who was extremely helpful. She later on gave us complimentary cracker jax for a little snack. Hopefully, when i get back in this part of New Hampshire i plan to come back soon.

Beautiful and luxurious room that was booked on a company trip for 4 months. Felt like home! Top brand bathroom products, quality linens and contemporary decor. Delicious breakfast and dinner menu and fun pool! Staff was always super friendly and eager to provide courtesy shuttles into downtown Portsmouth when our company (shared) rental wasn't available. Just a short drive away from the Atlantic Ocean and lots of historical attractions and events. 10 stars!

Great hotel. Josh the General Manager is fantastic! I say this not because he did anything for me, but because I happened to watch his interaction with another family. He really went out of his way to ensure he took care of them. Top notch customer service.

The rest rooms are great and the location very convenient to downtown Portsmouth. They have great breakfasts and evening happy hours. Also, they have a shuttle to downtown.

My only negative observation was that the quality of their wifi (WAP) was horrible, especially at night with speeds around 2 Mbits.

This is a relatively new hotel and I stay here often for business. It's a nice property with outdoor seating area with a fire pit, basketball courts, indoor pool and an ok fitness center. The hotel manager is very nice, as far as the staff it's hit or miss. They seem to be trying, hiring new people and that has improved thinks a bit.
My biggest issue with this hotel, besides it often being sold out in the summer (a typical trait for this area), is that cleanliness doesn't seem to be a top priority. The rooms are usually very clean but I have found stained towels, one of which was replaced by another stained towel when I complained. I often find crumbs in the corridors, which will be there for days. The breakfast area is often not replenished as late as 7AM when everyone starts to pour in. One time, my family was staying here with me and a staff member just opened the door and was about to walk in, if not for the safety door stop, no knocking. For the rates they charge I would expect much better.
In summary, generally a good hotel but seems to be understaffed and some of the staff seems to need some training. I am starting to see improvements at least. I hope they keep it up and solve these issues. It will easily be a 4-star review then.

I stayed at this hotel over the 2014 Thanksgiving holiday. It was my first time with this brand and it was as good as my usual Hampton Inn experiences. I needed a pet friendly hotel and these folks were all that. The room was very clean, the bedding was very good, the kitchen furnishings were OK too.
They provided a dinner each week night which was reasonably good, not what you would get if you go out to a restaurant, but better than a microwave dinner.
When I need to travel with my pet, I will be staying at one of these brand hotels based on my stay at this one in Portsmouth NH.

My husband, 1 and a half year old son and I stayed here for about 2 weeks while we waited for our house to be ready. To be honest, I could have lived here forever. Haha. The staff was amazing and understanding.

There were a couple of problems with our room. (We had 2 bedroom suite), the front door was broken, and one of the bathroom doors lock was broken. Both were fixed promptly.

My son was sick for about a week, and we were using the "playpens" they provided for his sleeping arrangement. He vomited in one, they replaced it then shortly after he did it again in the new one! I felt so terrible, but they were more than understanding. I offered to pay for them but they refused the offer.

The breakfast was more than enough, much better than you will find at most hotels (we have stayed in MANY, as we travel a lot!). If I had a reason to go back, I would. I have recommended Homewood Suites to friends and family when they are in town.
