Hotel Ellington

In an elegant district in the heart of Nice, just a five-minute walk from the beach, the Ellington has an air of casual refinement, a subtle blend of styles. Handsome architecture, typical of the 1920s Nice, a patio with a hint of southern Spain, moulded ceilings, rich wood floors, designer furniture… and a bar straight out of the swing era.

This new charming hotel with its 110 rooms, opened since January 2007, offers a warm and welcoming ambiance.

A bar with a jazzy atmosphere, cosy lounge, sunny patio and the meeting rooms with beautiful daylight… whatever your reason for being in Nice, should it be to relax or for business, the Hotel Ellington will be delighted to have you discover their unique universe.

Direction from cannes :

This hotel is in s fairly good location, central to the train station and beach. The bedrooms are functional, but not spacious but clean. The only true letdowns in the room was the over the bath shower and one of the mattresses was uncomfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very good and very reasonable. If you pay at the hotel, it's only ten Euros per person per night which is much better value than paying in advance.

Perfect location and staff that is attentive to details. Club Room is small, so if you are not small and thin, I would recommend a larger room or suite. Newly renovated old building it is charming. Breakfast is excellent and plentiful.

Absolutely Fantastic! Lovely cosy hotel with '40s style, yet modern amenities. Perfect location for seeing the "old town", getting to the beach, the Marina or Place Garibaldi. The staff were totally amazing! Friendly, polite, professional and exemplify customer service! The breakfasts are soooo good! So much selection, and every bit tastes great. Got back Yesterday and I'm missing the place already. Can't wait to go back. 100% Recommend!

Great location and, despite what others have said, the AC in the room worked well enough (no shop or store or restaurant in France has blasting AC). Elevators are small and slow. The morning staff is as cold as ice and the blond lady in the front desk in the mornings is unable to crack a smile, even to children, and generally appears to hate her job. There are front desk members here who don’t speak a word of English. There is no restaurant for food after the breakfast closes (10:30am).

For location this hotel is really great. The city shopping is 3 minutes away. The old town and promenade is also just a 5 minutes walk. If you don't mind the quaint charm of an old building you will overlook the small elevators, AC which doesn't work great and a cramped ambiance. The morning breakfast has a great selection of food and will satisfy even a gourmet.

Very good location. Short walk to shops supermarkets, old city and promenade. Since its not a new hotels you have to expect minor quirks. The hotel breakfast is very good and has a decent selection including gourmet teas.

5 starts for the location. We were so close to everything. The room was ok, the breakfast was ok for the price that we paid: good coffe, good pastry products. Nice and friendly staff!

Friendly reception staff, good location, an average breakfast, cheap happy hour but the rest is poor. Old tired rooms that smell. A bar that closes at 10.30pm on a Saturday.

My hubby and I stayed between 12 and 19 May 2018. A lovely hotel situated centrally. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel bar has happy hour between 5 and 8pm with 30% discount, and the lady tending the bar (on some evenings) was extremely efficient, runs a tight ship and makes a great Kir, so well worth a visit (or three!)
The only negative for me was there was never any Jazz music playing in the Jazz-themed bar!! We have already discussed returning to Nice (we sadly missed Cannes because of the film festival) and staying at the Ellington again.

The hotel's lobby is very tiny but the staffs are really friendly. I love its lovely patio and its elegant breakfast room. Breakfast is simple but as long as there're fresh fruits, breads, pastries, egg, cheese, tea & coffee and there's even porridge ... well those are enough.

I love the room: spacious, clean and classic.Free wifi and speedy. Great location, only 5 minutes walk to Place Massena.

Staying at this hotel as I write. booked via Secret Escapes, thought it would be a nice place to spend my husband's Birthday, Location good, breakfast good, terrace nice and relaxing. Staff very friendly.
Now for the BAD. Supposed to have a Deluxe Room, which is on the front the hotel, very busy and noisy. Have to have window open for air. Bed very hard. very small shallow wardrobe not deep enough to hang our clothes up. 1 door fell off when we tried to open it on arrival. Aircon not very good. Bedroom furniture looks very cheap. Bathroom very very small. Not at all what we were expecting for a 4* hotel. OK, we got a last minute deal, but a Deluxe room would be the same for whatever you paid for it.

This was a well earned holiday, and this central location was ideal. Within easy reach of the local restaurants Ang high street shops. Also only 15 minutes walk to the beach.

Excellent ! This is a comfortable hotel with some quirky Frenchness about it. Close to the beach and the Old Town in quiet streets, and very reasonably priced, this is a fun place to stay. We paid the extra for a deluxe executive room so can't comment on the basic accommodation, but have been delighted with ours. The staff are friendly and efficient, too. Glad we came and chose the Ellington.

7

Great little hotel with a nice character and amazing location to old town and the sea front.

Room was pleasant enough with nice views but was so hot it was almost unbearable at night as air con did not work.

Saying that the hotel staff were great, the bar at night was a good place for a drink a d breakfast was super tasty with plenty of choice.

Overall we loved our stay here and would have probably gone 5* was the room a bit more comfortable to sleep.

Great hotel, took our luggage up to the room and service was lovely. Happy hour in the bar in the evenings, cocktails hit or miss depending on the server. Bed was comfy and I had a great and peaceful sleep. Would recommend!

Very friendly staff at the front desk. Our room was one of the smaller ones; traditional style which we liked. Yet we have seen better bathrooms. Breakfast was basic, but ok. Using the valet parking service was a good idea as parking spaces are very limited.

This hotel and rooms are small but very comfortable. The room and the bathroom were very clean. The street outside is silent. The area is safe and you can find spa hotels around. There are quite nice pastry shops around and you can taste the most delicious chestnut (as desert) Personnel is friendly and very helpfull.

If you really want to enjoy your holidays, Hotel Ellington****, Nice is the perfect place to be!!!

The staff is all very friendly and helpful, the always clean and tidy rooms have been recently renovated and refurbished and the breakfasy is just arresting. The hotel proposes a large variety of cold and warm dishes like the homemade biscuits and cakes, cereals, cold cuts and cheeses, bacon, eggs, potatoes, pan cakes, yogurts, fruit salad and fresh fruits, all accompanied by a wide selection of luxury brand of tea, coffees, hot chocolate and fruit juices.
You can start the evening during the Happy Hour with a delicious cocktail at the piano bar or the lovely cozy courtyard outside where you can spend some pleasant time in the fragrance of jasmine flowers.
The location could not be any better. Only 10 minutes walk from the sea front and 10 minutes walk away from the main restaurants, old town and the train station.

Since I'm a high demanding person I really recommend this hotel to everybody.
