Planet 21 Gold

AccorHotels created an action plan that offered actions listed below to promote sustainable development, tailored to the hotel context. Those initiatives are structured into 4 pillars & 2 specific issues:

- PEOPLE: Raise employees’ awareness of the eco-friendly practice
- CUSTOMERS: engage guests in a sustainable experience
- COMMUNITIES: work hand-in-hand with local communities for a positive impact
- PARTNERS: co-innovate to open up new horizons

- BUILDING: Move towards carbon-neutral buildings
- FOOD: Strive for zero food waste & healthy sustainable food

Then, to go even further, each hotel selects other actions from over 60 additional initiatives. This flexible system enables it to build its own program in line with AccorHotels’ commitments, but also reflects the hotel’s local characteristics:
- Its prior level of progress on sustainable development
- Its priority areas for improvement
- The environment and local issues

A weighting mechanism establishes the action achievement level with a score that places the hotel around the higher levels. Each level marks the progress hotels are making in implementing the Planet 21 program.

The hotel itself is not up to its five stars from maintained facilities and quality, BUT....and that's a big but...they have the MOST amazing professional staff...very friendly, very welcoming, and very helpful.

It was my first time there at this hotel, I stayed there for one night and it was really great. The service and the rooms were amazing! The room I was in had an amazing view and was super nice! Highly recommend coming here!

Great service! Classic-feeling rooms that don't feel outdated.
The service is what made the stay really stand out. The gentleman that welcomed us, took our bags, politley explained the shuttle routes, and greeted us in the morning was extremely polite and approachable. The service style also seems to match the classic ambience of the hotel.

It's rare that I write bad reviews on Google, and I normally try to be positive and flexible, but I wasn't happy with this hotel.

I hadn't been to Seoul before, so chose this hotel as it was an Accor Hotel, supposedly Pullman standard, and I'm an Accor Plus Platinum member.

Part of being a Platinum member is receiving a complimentary upgrade on your room category, however, we were told on check-in that we would receive no upgrade as their weren't any higher category room with twin beds. It's disappointing that there are 3 higher categories of room than I booked and none have twin beds.

The rooms are a little dated (I don't think mine was a refurbished room) and the bathroom in particular was quite old and tired.

The hotel is really not in a great location - Myeong-Dong would be a much better location to stay for a tourist - and whilst the hotel does have a shuttle bus, this is only hourly, so if you just miss it you'll need to walk to the subway which is about an 8 minute walk away, and about 4 stops from where you want to be in the centre of Seoul.

I was also told prior to my arrival that the KAL Limousine Bus would take about 90 minutes, but it ended up being about 2 hours and 20 minutes - the hotel is one of the last stops on the route. Far better to get the AREX train to Seoul station and then a taxi (which will be about a 10-15 minute journey if no traffic).

I found the staff to be robotic and not very friendly - especially on the front desk. However, Julia in the Executive Lounge was a wonderful lady and very helpful, so please pass on my thanks and appreciation to her. If only the other staff we as helpful and friendly it would help a lot.

Note there is no convenience store close to the hotel at all and the hotel takes advantage of this by having a mini-bar with ridiculous prices ($6 USD for a Coke!) To really make you feel bad, if you're in a room with a coffee pod machine, you are charged $5 for additional coffee pods if you use more than 2 of them - even Accor Platinum members. Room service prices were way over the top (more like an ultra-5-star hotel than this 4 star property) and don't even think of doing laundry there without having to sell your house to do so. The whole pricing system of the hotel felt mean and greedy.

I'm sorry to write this negative review, but I really didn't enjoy my stay at this hotel and I was glad to leave. Next time I think I will be much happier staying at a Mercure or Ibis closer to town, and I think I would also be made to feel much more welcome. If this is how they treat Platinum members who stay over 60 nights per year at Accor Hotels, how do they treat other guests?

I won't be coming back anytime soon.

Lovely views of Namsan and clean and spacious rooms. Enjoyed the free shuttles to Myeongdong and Dondaemon. As we needed directions and travel guidance we found the concierge service one of the best I’ve experienced. Highest complements to Marine, who is poster perfect in all her mannerisms! She was more than patient and enthusiastic to assist in our daily queries.

I stayed at the Grand Ambassador in Seoul for a little over three months. From the very first day to the last day the staff was extremely courteous and helped me in many ways. Mr. Son in the sales office helped ensure my arrival to the hotel was well planned and smooth. He ensured everything was taken care of. Even before I arrived he communicated with me and ensured all my questions were answered timely. The front desk staff went out of their way to ensure my stay was comfortable and relaxed. The inside of the facility as one could expect is beautiful in every way imaginable and it is meticulously kept clean. The facilities at the hotel are world class and everything is at your fingertips. The ladies (Jade, Jessica, Elena and Julie ) all contributed immensely to ensuring anything I needed help with was provided. You will not find a more pleasant, professional and courteous group anywhere. Each of the ladies provided world class travel assistance, directions and advice on places to go and see. They were always positive and had a smile on their faces daily. Thank you Mr. Son for your help and world class service. A special thank you to Jade, Elena, and Jessica for you warm and glowing smiles!

It is a five star minus or maybe 4 star hotel.. Not a five star pullman commonly. The lobby, officer, and service is good. The taxi easily to pick up and every taxi driver know the hotel. The location is near to myeondong market. The room is spacious enough and clean.

It is very good hotel. The room is very clean and comfortable. Their stuff are friendly. Near to dongdaemun shopping complex and there a bus stop in front of the hotel that can take you to namsan tower. It also near to the subway station, Just about 5 minutes walk. And there a shuttle bus that can take you to Myeongdong. If you are not in hurry, from airport to this hotel, you can take a bus and it will drop you just in front of the hotel, it is the cheapest and comfortable choice but it take about 1,5 hours riding.

Expected more from this chain of hotels. Stayed in numerous hotels under this chain and this is by far one of the most disappointing ones. The restaurant, while pricey, has unfriendly staff. Used jelly beans as decoration and told my 4 year-old off when he asked if he can have some. Who would know those jelly beans are just for decoration? >

Undoubtedly one of the best hotels in Seoul.
I stayed here for 7-nights during my first visit to Korea in July 2017. The hotel is clean and well maintained, and the staffs working inside and outside are very welcoming and helpful. Seen a lot of foreigners flocking in for accommodation here, showing how popular it is.
They also provided bus services to some places in Seoul, and also provides buses to the Incheon International Airport on the specific times. Alternatively, the Dongguk University subway station is a few minutes walk south-east from the hotel (the walkway is steep).
It have a big auditorium for holding events, and have wide variety of options in its buffet meal service.
The staffs are well trained in first aid. There was an incident of broken glass been left over on the corner of the auditorium floor which had cut the foot of a delegate. The hotel staff came running with the first aid kit, when they were informed. He calmed the situation and told guests to not to panic and prevent overcrowding there. After talking carefully with the victim, he calmly applied the bandage.

I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions. I find that it's in a food location, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are comfortable and clean, although some are looking a little dated. No issues with English anywhere throughout the hotel, and the selection of restaurants means that you're unlikely to go hungry, although the prices are a little high.

Had a fabulous 5 night stay at this hotel.
The first room we were allocated was just above the outside air conditioning units which were quite noisy. When we mentioned this to Reception there was no hesitation in changing rooms and we were actually upgraded for our inconvenience.
The room was very clean and spacious and the facilities were very good - fridge, safety deposit box, mobile phone charger, coffee and tea making facilities, toiletries.
All the staff were lovely and spoke good English.
There is a hotel shuttle bus every 15 minutes that takes you into and back from the centre of Seoul and the bus continues until quite late in the evening which is useful.

Really nice hotel and rooms although a little dated now. People are very friendly and helpful. Drinks in the bar are very expensive and probably to be avoided unless on expenses !.. we had lounge access with our room and the food and drinks were included which were exceptionally nice. Location was OK any easy to find and navigate from . Overall very nice and would recommend.

Yes the room is a bit old, but clean and very much comfortable. They also have n espresso and other amenities inside the room. Utmostly, the service is exemplary. I had packages sent from the U. S and I emailed them before hand, they replied promptly and no mistake was made. I have those boxes waiting for me when I checked in even when I forgot to ask. Mr Eui J Kim in the reception is really welcoming, efficient and very helpful. Staying in this hotel really adds my gratitude for being an Accor Plus Member. Thumbs up, Ambatel.

I was there with a group of Korean War vettrans from the U.S.A. for a revisit tour. The room was very nice. The food at the buffet restaurant "The Kings" was simply amazing. The hotel staff were always a joy to interact with and always extremely helpful. The hotel is located within a reasonable walk to the Chungmuro station on the subway. I had a wonderful time staying here and I would definitely recommend it.

Really handy free shuttle bus to multiple locations. Also reasonable price for limousine bus (KAL)from/to airport.
The hotel is nice and really helpful staff.
The only reason I give them 4 out of 5 is the bathroom and shower really need renovation. Otherwise perfect place to stay.

The service is great in every part of the hotel. And the staff speaks mostly English. The staff is always very friendly.
They offer a great breakfast and various restaurants for lunch and dinner. I like especially the Korean restaurant.
Not the newest and the oldest hotel of the city. The rooms are good enough for a longer stay. I stayed twice for two weeks and I say anything bad. I love the Grand Ambassador Seoul.

Stayed in the double single bed room. Facilities are good as well as basic necessities such as hairdryer, comb, potion and lotion are provided. Close to the subway. Rooms are clean and comfortable if a little bit small. Plenty of services at hand within the hotel if you are prepared to pay a little more for them such as massaging and hairstyling. Service itself is outstanding with English speaking staff to help you out with most of your annoying questions!
