Certifications

Planet 21 Bronze

AccorHotels created an action plan that offered 76 actions to promote sustainable development, tailored to the hotel context. It sets out 16 mandatory actions for achieving the “Bronze” level, which must be obtained before moving on to the higher levels. Those initiatives are structured into 4 pillars & 2 axes:

- PEOPLE: Raise employees’ awareness of eco-friendly practice
- CUSTOMERS: engage guests in a sustainable experience
- COMMUNITIES: work hand-in-hand with local Communities for a positive impact
- PARTNERS: co-innovate to open up new horizons

- BUILDING: Move towards carbon neutral buildings
- FOOD: Strive for zero food waste & healthy sustainable food

Then, to go even further, each hotel selects other actions from over 60 additional initiatives. This flexible system enables it to build its own program in line with AccorHotels’ commitments, but also reflecting the hotel’s local characteristics:
- Its prior level of progress on sustainable development
- Its priority areas for improvement
- The environment and local issues

A weighting mechanism establishes the action achievement level with a score that places the hotel around the higher levels. Each level marks the progress hotels are making in implementing the Planet 21 program.

It's a beautiful and quite luxurious building, perfectly located within walking distance from Place de la Défence and near the Esplanade de la Défence metro station, so you can easily get to inner Paris from here, and the staff is very welcoming and helpful. Also, the restaurant is excellent.

Everything is good. Room, breakfast, environment is good except this hotel does not have a space for the bus. So it will be very difficult for group tour. I was riding 40 people of bus could not go in near to the hotel. We have to pay another service for luggage service to bring all the luggage. The nearest parking is around 1km.

Very well appointed hotel, the bed was amazing. I had the best sleep. Restaurant was quite expensive though. However, the food was excellent. There is a Starbucks next door.

Nice place to stay when you are in La Défense Paris. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious (this is a singularity in Paris where everywhere is so small), well kept and well decorated. The staff is very professional and nice. Even the food is good to some extent. I will definitely recommend this hotel or come back whenever I visit Paris.

Sofitel is a great hotel chain. I have stayed a lot of sofitel. In Budapest, Lissabon, France... Great food. Great rooms. Wonderful service. I had saved over 200.000 points. In give one bad score because the took these points away because I wasn't in a Sofitel hotel for a year...

Great hotel, the building is a bit dated and typical for the style in la defense. But the hotel made the absolute best of it. The styling is nice, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is perfect. What really makes the place worth a five star rating is the staff though. It is the most friendly staff I have experienced in any European trip. They behave on levels generally only seen in Asia. On all my visits the staff do everything to make me feel at home and no request is to much. Despite the weird building it makes me feel like coming home every time. Also worth mentioning is how Sofitel manages to create that special European luxury feeling in all their hotels. Highly recommended!

The hotel is good, but it nerds some routine maintenance in the rooms and in the common areas. Breakfast is very goood, but the buffet is not replaced as often as a 5 star hotel should do. The front office staff was excellent. Anyway, good value for price paid. Recommended.

We came here for our 1 year anniversary and the hotel did not disappoint. The service was amazing, and the room was excellently furnished. The bed was the focal point for me! The hotel is also close the the Metro which is on line 1 and gets you to the central tourist part of Paris within minutes. We will be back!

Reception experience is not note worthy. Room looks very good, but quality (and attention to detail) fall short. Bed, temperature and blinding curtains are very good. Price is high compared to the experience offered, but if you're in for a good nights rest, this is a very good option.

We booked through American Airlines vacations. Having traveled to Paris five times now (my wife loves this city), I knew that this property was just a short Metro ride from downtown. We couldn't have been more satisfied with this hotel! The room was fantastic and the staff was very nice and helpful. A particular front desk person (his name escapes me) always remembered our names and was eager to provide assistance. We will definitely return to this wonderful hotel.

Stayed here for three days... a very classy hotel with pleasant staff. It is not cheap and even though they have a wide selection of VERY GOOD wines... the prices will make your head spin. The breakfast is well presented in a very tasteful restaurant... it is VERY near a metro station to take you to the heart of Paris... there is a Mall nearby as well as a wine shop (a three minute walk from the hotel) with possibly the best selection of wines I have ever seen! I would stay here again and again. Even though language is a BIG issue in France... this hotel made efforts to have fluent English speaking staff... pleasant pleasant experience...

We both loved our stay at Sofitel. The location was great for us as it is a stones throw from the metro which allowed us to get in and out of Paris easily. The hotel room was spacious with a very large comfortable bed. The bathroom was also fantastic. After long days of travelling around Paris we looked forward to the luxury of our hotel room. We heard good things about the staff at the hotel before we booked from reviews and we were not disappointed. The staff were all extremely friendly and went to great effort to help us whenever we needed it.

Kristel was so helpful checking in and Quentin was awesome with the bags and making sure I had a stereo that worked in my room. Late check out was no problem and the concierge was happy to book a massage for me at my next hotel, Sofitel Boutet, make sure all my luggage was in a taxi waiting for me to go. Very comforting.

We loved the hotel: comfortable bedding, clean and spacious room. Good quality breakfast buffet. Friendly staff. Very warm welcoming. But: No shoe shining available - No disposable tooth brush and paste available - The Bose speakers automatically turn off: it would be good to keep the Time display on Overall, we liked the hotel and we felt at home.

I spent the long weekend of the 14 of July at the Sofitel, La Defense. I was upgraded to a junior suite in order to accommodate a special request that I had. I am very thankful for this and this showed great customer service. I will return to this hotel, and I will recommend it to friends.

We loved the hotel: comfortable bedding, clean and spacious room. Good quality breakfast buffet. Friendly staff. Very warm welcoming. But: - The daily housekeeping is not as expected: staff sometimes forgets to put napkin or toilet paper; we used 2 bottle of water from the minibar but they never refilled and worse than that they recorded them for us as a consumption of 2 bottles a day!!! very unprofessional: they corrected the mistake at the time of check out after explaining that to them so they didn't charge us. - No shoe shining available - No disposable tooth brush and paste available ( sometimes people travel in a rush and forget their brushes...) - The Bose speakers automatically turn off: it would be good to keep the Time display on Overall, we liked the hotel and we felt at home. Very special thanks to the lady who welcomed us when we checked in. She was very welcoming and we felt bad as we had only bank cards on us and no cash to give her as Tips.

No standard for room service. I paid full room fee but you treated me less than half. The room was for 2 persons and you should have prepared everythings for 2. I got only 1 bottle of water and 1 set of bathing each day. Although i wrote a note to ask for 2, i still got 1 the days after!!!! I changed the bottle on table with the one in fridge and you charged me for cold fee !!!!!! The receptionist has rolled her eyes in front of us while we were asking her to correct our receipt. Sorry but we will never stay with you again.

Stayed at the Sofitel La Defense for 1 night for a business trip; i was upgraded to a deluxe room upon arrival. Spacious and clean modern room, with view on the pedestrian area (Esplanade). Check in was relatively quick, and check out as well. If opportunity arises, will stay again there.

I think the location of the hotel is great, very close to my office. I do find the menu in the restaurant should be updated with more vegetarian options. I think the hotel décor in the rooms is starting to look a bit dated but the functionality is fine - the tv stations are good, the bathroom is well stocked with products. It is my first choice hotel for La Defense.

Pros: Good location; friendly staff; quick checkin and checkout; OK breakfast. Cons: 1. The iron in my room was rusty and had a dangerous flex. 2. Very poor lighting to work in. Needs a proper desk lamp. Too dark for serious work.

Room - very good, nicely appointed. Food choice specially for Vegetarians very less. Staff - very helpful and friendly. Location - not so good for us as we came for tourism and this hotel is just outside paris. Excellent if you are here for business and your office is one of the high rises in this area.

Very nice 4 star hotel. The rooms are slightly older than I expected for a hotel with 5 star acclaim, but what the rooms lack the friendly, outgoing and welcoming staff most definitely makes up in. Continue the good work staff of the Sofitel, I will be back soon.

Would be great for a 4 star hotel. Closet was pretty scuffed up and dirty. Room service came in even when we had a sign out to request privacy. Otherwise decent location near the train with spacious rooms(for Paris). Just beware that taxis and Uber may get lost as the entrance is underground and very hard to see for vehicles.

The hotel itself is quite nice. The location is excellent. The restaurant has good quality food, but service and details are not as expected in this price range (see pictures of seats). As an example for the details: They do serve Affligem but instead of the correct glasses, they serve it in blank pints.

The room is really nice and spacious, the staff were very polite and helpful. It's located outside the main touristic attractions, but the metro station is at a short walk and it wasn't too busy near the hotel.

4 star plus hotel. Having stayed many times here, I find the hotel to be great. The rooms are modern, well equipped, fairly big and beatifully decorated. The Junior Suites are not significantly bigger but offer a "separate" sitting area and a bit more space - I find it very useful and worth the extra costs. The staff is very friendly and helpful and always make me feel that this is home away from home. For those who visit Paris - the public transports from La Defense are VERY good. Metro line 1 is just outside the hotel, for fast travel across Paris (much faster than the metro) there is an RER station at the Grande Arche which connects La Defense with Auber (Lafayette/Printemps/Opera) in 7 minutes and Chatelet in 10 minutes - not even Taxis can beat that ! When I stay here, I usually leave my car parked at the hotel for the week (Parking is included in the Junior Suite price, otherwise 25 EUR/day) and rely on public transports and taxi. The valet service is very good. So, what makes this great hotel only a 4 Star hotel ? The restaurant - the food is good but not great and the choice is limited. Since there is a very limited choice in the La Defense area I expect the hotel to compensate for this with a very good restaurant so I feel that this is a little bit of a let-down. Nonetheless, with good planning you'll probably schedule your dinners elsewhere in Paris anyway, since transport to La Defense is great this single flaw will not spoil your stay. Keep in mind that there are several nice reataurants in Puteaux (10 min by foot). Oh, did I mention the beds !!! Sofitel (the group) have the most comfortable beds I have ever encountered in hotels. In fact, the beds alone makes Sofitel a preferred choice. I have only two words to mention: Down Mattress !

This luxury hotel is a mere pretty facade remnant of a dingy, out dated and much need for improvement, has been establishment. Fairly nice on the inside, actually wonderful bathrooms facility, but is definitely seen it's days. The entrance is a maze of stone stairways, broken down escalators as one must carry their own luggage to an obscure lower level elevator which wisks you back up to this crazy entrance. For as much for the Sofitel reputation the Reception was quite stoic, as they are not happy enough for your business as they must upsell to fill their so called Suites, and Excutive Rooms, which they push hard for you to consider. The rooms are nice, but non-smoking rooms linger aromas of a all-smoking rooms lifestyle of years past, bedding reeks. Air Conditioner in the middle of a cold Paris Winter is no consolation, as the heating lingers around 69 degrees ONLY...they would not provide another room only a blanket...brrrr in the a.m., let me tell you. Restaraunts seems nice, but as one knows, Paris is pricey and nothing below 25 euros exist, even for a meager breakfast in these stogey hotels is...25 euros, thats about $35-40. I was a bit dissapointed that we had to be stuck with chilly environment in an overpriced room, and nothing convenient to dine on after a late check-in and had to retire with an empty stomach, really was dissapointing. If you are going to consider this bargain off the likes of Expedia, Orbitz, good luck. I made direct reservations through Sofitel, and I was treated as if I had been there on a Priceline Bargain Basement, so remember this review, it is accurate, not a bitter repent. I do not know if I was just tired and fatiqued, but I feel like a strong anti-americanism here in Paris, hmmm, ya think?? Sport a Canadian flag I think is your best bet on the streets.
