Environment

Property's Green Action

We believe that incorporating societal and environmental factors in our business strategy and operations will play a vital role in the long-term viability of our business and the travel and tourism sector. We manage and minimise our impact on the environment by tracking and reducing the use of energy, water and waste. We also use bio-friendly cleaning materials and promote local sustainability initiatives such as low carbon alternative means of transport.

Certifications

Green Engage

The IHG Green Engage system is our group-wide online sustainability program. It allows hotels to track, measure, and report on their carbon footprint and utility consumption as well as recommending more than 200 ‘Green Solutions’ which help deliver greater sustainability.

The IHG Green Engage system:
• Measures energy, waste, and water use
• Recommends over 200 Green Solutions to reduce the impacts our energy, waste, and water use have on the environment
• Supports hotels to create environmental action plans and targets
• Promote local sustainability initiatives such as low carbon alternative means of transport
• Biodiversity: keeping the disturbance of animals, plants, and their natural habitats to a minimum. A set of recommendations aimed at preserving and protecting on-site local flora and fauna and the wider regional ecosystems has been developed. This includes advice on the management of green spaces and long-term strategies for protecting local environments.

Green Globe

Green Globe’s International Standard for Sustainable Tourism is a certification scheme that requires hotels to report on their sustainability performance throughout their supply chains. It traces its roots back to the United Nations Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit in 1992, where 182 Heads of State endorsed the Agenda 21 principles of Sustainable Development. The standards are a collection of over 330 compliance indicators that are applied to 41 individual sustainability criteria - these can be divided into four themes:

• Sustainable Management
• Social/Economic
• Cultural Heritage
• Environmental

Clients can calculate their CO2e footprint, the financial cost of that CO2e, and track their performance of energy and water consumption and non-recyclable waste production. The certification is only awarded to members that have a compliance rating of at least 51%. The award can then only be maintained if members continually improve by 3% every year.

My wife and I had the extreme pleasure of being a guest at the Recently reopened and completely renovated Carlton Cannes hotel. The hotel is an architectural marvel and the renovation was entrusted to well known Interior Architect Tristan Auer who designed so many magnificent design details into every aspect of the hotel and hotel experience - it's a feast for the eyes! The team is so proud of the final product they are happy to explain anything to guests including for example the painstaking work to uncover and restore the marble columns and ceiling frescos that had been covered up for years. We were in a premium city view room with a peak view of the mediterranean - the room was large and extremely comfortable. We were told that during the two year renovation about 200 of the staff were kept employed throughout the period - that helps explain why the staff is so passionate and experienced - a surprise for a hotel closed for two years! The breakfast buffet was expansive and delicious and you can order many custom items - the Riviera cafe and terrace are also gorgeous - eat on the terrace if you can! We dined one night at the Riviera and it was delicious - we enjoyed the Sea Bass and almost enjoyed the way it was prepared and served right in front us as much as the fish itself! Finally the Carlton Beach club is a great place to relax - we went a few times around sunset and thoroughly enjoyed the expert attention from Quentin who has mastered any drink you wish and has also developed a few custom ones of his own. Olivier took care by helping us with our our rental hybrid EV vehicle and Thierry gave us great overview of the hotel history and Marielle was lovely at the reception desk. The only slight disappointment was that the outdoor pool and gym were not available and soon to open. We can't wait to go back. It's expensive but definitely worth it if you want to feel a little like a movie star!

First time returning to The Carlton and unsure what to expect. Nothing to worry about as a great hotel that was slightly tired has just had amazing refit making it the best hotel in South of France in our opinion.
Staff super friendly and proud of new hotel, every request had a simple yes and whole set up was professional and well organised
Only regret was new pool and spa and gym not open yet but reason to go back soon.

Regent Carlron Cannes is one of the most prestigious hotels in Cannes.
It is located right in front of the Mediterranean and perfectly near to all the hot spots in Cannes.
It was renovated and reopened days ago.
Hotel facilities and amenities are a typical 5-star hotel.
My experience was not quite good, I came days after the renovation, and I had a problem with the room key, it was fixed in few hours but someone from the hotel staff had to come with me every time I'm going to the room.
The breakfast area is always full, and I can't reserve even if I'm a hotel resident.
The safe box was not working.
The staff is quite friendly and helpful and tries to overcome the new operation obstacles.
The food is quite good at dinner.
My room wasn't quite big, but efficient and all my needs were met.
I still recommend this hotel for luxury travelers.
