Green Engage

The IHG Green Engage system is our group-wide online sustainability program. It allows hotels to track, measure, and report on their carbon footprint and utility consumption as well as recommending more than 200 ‘Green Solutions’ which help deliver greater sustainability.

The IHG Green Engage system:
• Measures energy, waste, and water use
• Recommends over 200 Green Solutions to reduce the impacts our energy, waste, and water use have on the environment
• Supports hotels to create environmental action plans and targets
• Promote local sustainability initiatives such as low carbon alternative means of transport
• Biodiversity: keeping the disturbance of animals, plants, and their natural habitats to a minimum. A set of recommendations aimed at preserving and protecting on-site local flora and fauna and the wider regional ecosystems has been developed. This includes advice on the management of green spaces and long-term strategies for protecting local environments.

The Green Key

Green Key is an eco-label awarded to around 3,200 hotels and other sites in more than 65 countries worldwide. Achieving the Green Key award requires compliance with a range of criteria, including:

• Comply with legislation and CSR policy within the areas of environment, health, safety, and labor
• Prepare an environmental/sustainability policy and action plan
• Train staff on environmental/sustainability issues
• Display information about Green Key and other environmental/sustainability initiatives
• Display information about local transportation and nearby parks/conservation areas
• Implement water-saving initiatives in guest rooms, e.g. flow restrictors in taps and showers, smart watering initiatives of the garden, etc.
• Install program for the reuse of towels and/or sheets in guest rooms
• Separate waste and implementation of waste saving initiatives (including food waste)
• Avoid the use of chemical cleaning products with dangerous compounds
• Safe storage of chemical products
• Stationary and paper are environmentally friendly produced
• Implement energy-saving initiatives in guest rooms, e.g. energy-efficient light bulbs, standard-defined heating/cooling temperature, etc.
• Purchase of food/beverage products that are organic, eco-labeled, fair-trade labeled, and/or locally produced
• Avoid chemical pesticides and fertilizers in green areas
• Staff areas fulfill the same requirements as guests and public areas
• Encourage cooperation with suppliers and local community on environmental/sustainability matters

Polite staff, rooms are well kept and clean.

Breakfast was good, reasonable variety.

Rooms tend to run small, but we'll appointed.

There is an ATM near the car entry point at end of small shops.

Snacks can be found a shortish walk to the east. About 0.5 to 1km east are some places to eat as well, to varing types.

Comfort , nice A wonderfull location -

All staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel was neat and clean. Room was spacious and comfortable.

not too far from the metro station. Valet parking is just behind the hotel. From check in to check out this place has been very accommodating. Bedroom was of a good size with a good size bathroom with separate wetroom with a 7 head shower and stand alone bath with views across Dubai. The electric bind and curtains were a great touch.

The pool is a good size - always found somewhere to relax in the sun. Pool is open until 9pm which is great for nighttime swimming and then using the spa facilities (jacuzzi, steam and sauna) located inside the locker area. Don’t be fooled it - it’s a hidden spa area. Definitely would stay again

The InterContinental Jordan was the first place I stayed when I arrived in Jordan and I couldn't have asked for a better first impression. The first person from the hotel I met was Farah and she was fantastic! She was very welcoming, quick to get us sorted, and spoke flawless English.
The breakfast in the morning, as well as the gym, were two of the other highlights from my stay here. I would definitely recommend staying here and be sure to ask for Farah if you need help!

Lovely hotel. Quiet area. Perfect location to stay in Amman whether on business travel or vacation. Staff very knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. Hotel has three restaurants to dine in, and taxi can be called if preference for city dining desired. Security taken seriously here and all staff very attentive. A delightful breakfast served here with wonderful array of items as well!

Wow this city hotel is fantastic. Restaurants are great with lots of choice as have the bars. (There is a great falafel stall outside the hotel. Well tasty and good value.( Also an Irish bar opposite hotel) The pool area outside is great but is closed in the winter. Health club, gym and sauna. Rooms are luxury as are the beds. Recommend having eggs Benedict for breakfast through room service lush. Also must see Roman ampitheater in centre of town.

The hotel lobby is very nice. I only attended a wedding at the ballroom, so I don't know anything about the rooms nor the restaurants.
But the ballroom was really nice, good decorations, sound system is ok. The food was relatively good. And the public toilets were clean.
The flowers at the entrance and lobbies were very nice.

Impressive panoramic views from the well appointed 8th Floor where I attended a business meeting; but the sandwiches provided were extremely lack lustre and tasteless.

Lettuce and mayonnaise is hardly a palatable sandwich!

And judging from the brown colour and plastic texture of the contents of the the 'turkey' sandwich it definitely bears no relation to that feathered fowl.

The only redeeming features of the mediocre 'meal' were the beverages.

The fresh, cold orange juice (i asked for carrot & orange as per the offerings on the menu but apparently the hotel did not have any carrots today!); in addition to the excellent strong coffee which helped to redeem the 'meal'.

Frankly, all in all it was a disappointing experience for a 5 star hotel.

Friendly staff, good food and ready support
I was hesitant to be here after my stay in their jubail branch . But, it was very good. The team was friendly and helpful, they found something I had lost too quickly.
When the room was not what I had asked, they changed it and upgraded, the sleep was the best I had in weeks. (Though my ac was loud, but I didn’t have time to speak up about it)
Breakfast is varied and security is tight. Overall great stay

The InterContinental hotel is very close to the bazaar shopping area. When you arrive, you get the feeling that you have arrived at a 5-star hotel in the heart of an old city. Overall the lobby area is nicely laid out. When I checked in, I provided my membership number to ensure I get my point but when I checked my account (a few weeks later) I had not received credit for my 5-day stay.
They supposedly upgraded my room, and it looked ok, but had no access to the executive lounge per the contracted agreement.
During the day, I got myslf a massage (I recommend if you stay here to get a massage). I also spent some time in the sauna and steam room. That night I had the Lebanese chicken delivered to my room. The next day I contracted an illness (according to my doctor it was a bacterial/viral infection and pneumonia). I was not the only get in my party to get sick, a number of us had food poisoning -and we all ordered the Lebanese chicken.
I am giving the hotel a 2-star rating because I ended up being hospitalized the moment I got home. From now on when I visit Amman, I will stay at either the Marriott or Sheraton hotel.

I was always a big fan of this hotel. Best service best food. But unfortunately yesterday Friday June 9, 2017. I went for iftar and it was shockingly the worst food i tasted in Amman for iftar. The quality was not worth 10 JD. And they charged us 60JD. We paid thinking we will be eating the best buffet in town. But very disappointing 👎 When we finished we went and ate somewhere else cz we left hungry 😡
I hope they pay attention to this because it was very very poor and nothing fresh and tasteless 👎

The place felt a bit tattty and in need a refurbishment. Service was quite poor at breakfast and the reception. We used the hotel car and driver which was certainly the redeeming factor. Our driver (Majid) was lovely and did an awesome job of showing us the best parts of Amman even getting us into jerash after official closing!

5

Large hotel complex that, it is starting to feel the time.
Large rooms with very old mattress and too much old bathroom.
Minibar are so old and noisy that you will have to turn them off during the night.
Great staff, and a good choice of quality restaurants.
Breakfast is really disappointing, with a poor and not diversified choice.
Good level of security.
Still one of the best in town but, really dated.
If they will not start to update the structure soon, with the new competitors arriving in town it will be soon empty as the quality is not justifying the price.

I had been twice to this hotel in 2015, & it would be definitely my first option the next time i go to Amman. Rooms are quiet. The lobby is so big, and there's a corner for smokers. Food is nice, the Staff are so nice and helpful. The Gym is big which let you do the workout comfortably, the swimming pools are good, though indoor one is a bit small, the Mediterranean breakfast not to be missed in any circumstances,

& at last but not at least if you can don't miss the grills at the Burj Al Hamam restaurant.

The Top Security in the hotel can be annoying sometimes but it's for our own safety & security as you know the situation in the neighbor countries. I two Head of States in this hotel.

There are several restaurants, cafes & juice shops near by, just a walking distance, and who admires the local sweets, there's Halawaiyyat Nafeesa just 3 minutes walking from the hotel. It's a must.

Than Adhan (Call of Prayer for Muslims) can be heard if you open the rooms' windows, & mosques are in a walking distance.

If you want some souvenirs and travel agencies, there are some shops at the Hotel Entrance, and an ATM machine as well.
