Certifications

Green Engage

The IHG Green Engage system is our group-wide online sustainability program. It allows hotels to track, measure, and report on their carbon footprint and utility consumption as well as recommending more than 200 ‘Green Solutions’ which help deliver greater sustainability.

The IHG Green Engage system:
• Measures energy, waste, and water use
• Recommends over 200 Green Solutions to reduce the impacts our energy, waste, and water use have on the environment
• Supports hotels to create environmental action plans and targets
• Promote local sustainability initiatives such as low carbon alternative means of transport
• Biodiversity: keeping the disturbance of animals, plants, and their natural habitats to a minimum. A set of recommendations aimed at preserving and protecting on-site local flora and fauna and the wider regional ecosystems has been developed. This includes advice on the management of green spaces and long-term strategies for protecting local environments.

Green Globe

Green Globe’s International Standard for Sustainable Tourism is a certification scheme that requires hotels to report on their sustainability performance throughout their supply chains. It traces its roots back to the United Nations Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit in 1992, where 182 Heads of State endorsed the Agenda 21 principles of Sustainable Development. The standards are a collection of over 330 compliance indicators that are applied to 41 individual sustainability criteria - these can be divided into four themes:

• Sustainable Management
• Social/Economic
• Cultural Heritage
• Environmental

Clients can calculate their CO2e footprint, the financial cost of that CO2e, and track their performance of energy and water consumption and non-recyclable waste production. The certification is only awarded to members that have a compliance rating of at least 51%. The award can then only be maintained if members continually improve by 3% every year.

Wonderful hotel. Rooms are beautiful and comfortable. Staff superb--helpful, courteous, friendly. We ate at two of the restaurants, which had delicious food. Centrally located--walking distance to transportation...walking distance to Buckingham Palace and parks.

Great Hotel with great service staff. Immediately from the second your door is opened into the hotel you feel welcomed. My immediate thought after I’d been checked into my room was ‘Wow, these guys know hospitality’. Coming from a service background myself, I can truly appreciate the extended effort that staff at the hotel go to to ensure guests are let happy and have a joyful stay. Would gladly recommend this place! And the location is arguably one of the best in London

Gorgeous. Wonderful. Get the included breakfast. The food is good but the restaurant staff is hit or miss. The hotel staff on the other hand is terrific. The bar off to the left from the check in is a great place to have drinks and people watch. It's right in Mayfair and about a 10 minute walk to Buckingham's wrought iron gates. The rooms are pristine and will spoil you. You will feel welcomed here and you will enjoy your stay. Funny story from a morning we had breakfast here... the French fellow who was taking our order one morning and I asked for the waffles to NOT have the ricotta cheese on them. He clarified my order by asking "You only want syrup on your waffles?". I said "Yes please." Then in the most oozing, fetid, sarcastic tone, while rolling his eyes he groaned "A-maaaay-zing". He was a hilarious, and the waffles were, in fact, amazing. And the experience was priceless. We still laugh about it today. We will certainly return!

Excellent stay overall. Dining was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful. Transportation always available and everyone basically waiting on hand and foot. Also a beautiful location within walking distance of many popular areas. Would highly recommend it and will come back soon.

Lovely place. They always have special scent sprayed in lobby which is amazingly combined with beautiful flower arrangements.
Some rooms are very nice and modern but some are outdated. But still will give 5* as it's great hotel and staff is very polite and helpful

What an amazing experience. The room was spacious and very well appointed. Shower and bathroom first class. Great views from the room. Staff were quite remarkable, friendly and professional in every department.
Restaurant Theo Randall is well worth a visit. Everything they say it is. Thanks.

Great air conditioner at night.

Clean rooms, comfortable beds, pillows okay, but that is an issue with everyone. The air conditioning was super cold, which was a major plus. This fact alone will make us stay at this hotel again. On the other hand, the staff in the lobby needs to take classes on how to be friendly. The help desk has an attitude problem, to the point that it makes you want to lose your manners and turn on them quite nastily. Also, housekeeping needs to be reminded to knock before entering a room, especially at night, we still are pondering why she/housekeeping came in our room one night. Even so, we would recommend this hotel because the a/c worked great.

High class hotel with all the amenities and service you expect from a 5 star. Virtually next door to the London Hard Rock Cafe and opposite Hyde Park. Close to Green Park and Hyde Park Corner tube stations (Hyde Park a bit closer). Staff are very professional, helpful and friendly. Breakfast is expensive. The buffet option is more than enough.

Nice hotel in Fantastic location lovely and clean and very helpful staff the guest services manager went out of his way to make sure I'll stay have the wow factor and he succeeded we would definitely stay again the room we had was a sweet that overlooks the Wellington Arch and was worth every single penny it was huge and very lovely bed was comfortable comes with feather pillows as standard but they're happy to change if you have a preference would highly recommend.
The hotel has a spa but does not have any pools, hot tubs, saunas or steam rooms it is purely a treatment suite which is decorated to a very high standard with fixtures and fittings that's exube class and taste

My husband and I stayed at the Intercontinental for two nights on vacation in London. It's a truly beautiful hotel. We were upgraded to a Superior Room, which included a bit more space. The room was very nice, comfortable, and traditionally decorated. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

A quiet, clean and decent hotel. I got a complimentary upgrade on arrival. Breakfast was served in relatively small space, with no view, but still decent. A few minutes walk from Hyde park corner Tube station, close to major sites along Piccadilly Line. Just above 330 pounds per night. Room not big, typical of European hotel.

It was a pleasant stay in a nice hotel, but there are two things that weren't as perfect as the rest of things in the hotel:
1- the lightning in the room is bad
2- the service in the lobby was very very bad, I sat on a dirty table for 25 minutes and no one came to ask me if I need to order or to clean the table, the staff were passing near me as no one was sitting on the table! After 25 minutes one of the waiters came to me "after I called her". This experience ruined my night "I lost the mood to order anything" and it's a bad memory from this hotel. but rather than that, every thing was almost perfect.

We had a very nice stay. The atmosphere was nice, the excellent doorman was so hospitable and helpful it made going out and returning a pleasure. The room was very nice and the bar and cafe area was a very nice setting. The cocktails were a bit ordinary but the service was engaging and please tell. All in a great hotel experience.

Great staff, huge lobby, location is good BUT there is no sauna and steam baths which was very strange and when i asked them, they told me the building was not designed for them 🙄. The check in process was lengthy although i am an intercontinental ambassador member. They did however offer me some coffee at the lounge until my room was ready. This is how it is in London, you have to compromise when it comes to hotels.

High end hotel with a bunch of amenities. I am a platinum member of this chain of hotels and was treated well. I got a complimentary upgrade but the view was facing other rooms. 😑 was also offered a complimentary coupon worth £25 for food and drinks in the mini bar. Overall a good experience

This was our second visit to The Intercontinental Hotel for Afternoon Tea. Last time we had the standard Afternoon Tea menu. This time we had the Nordic inspired Christmas Afternoon Tea Which was different but very enjoyable. A very tasty, alternative take on traditional Christmas flavours.
The surroundings for the tea room are bright, contemporary and comfortable.
The service is professional and prompt with the staff being very knowledgeable about their work.
It can easily compete with, and in fact defeat, some of the supposedly more luxurious venues serving Afternoon Tea. Especially when one considers that the standard Afternoon Tea is only £29!
Which is amazing value for the standard of quality, comfort and service!

The service provided and the facilities were excellent and at the high standard that was expected. We attended for a meeting and refreshments were kept topped up and staff were always on hand to assist if needed. The only slight downside was needing to drop some 100ft into the congestion charge zone to access the hotel as you still have to pay, but this is hardly their fault.

From check in to check out, the staff were perfect. The facilities are impeccable, the rooms comfortable and the overall vibe is welcoming.

A sharp contrast to the poor experience I had at the location in Amsterdam... If you have the option to stay here, I suggest giving their hospitality a try.

Excellent hotel! This hotel is the definition of luxury in London. Larger rooms are gorgeous and service is impeccable. Highly recommend the breakfast.
"Jade" who checked us in at the front desk is THE true example of how a hospitality staff should be; efficient and at the clients service. We truly appreciate the extra kindness Jade showed us as it made our visit to London truly memorable.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around...

I visited the InterContinental London attended a wedding. The reception by staff was very friendly, the ball room was wonderfully set up for the wedding. The event I was attending with my wife and family lasted all day. The ball room changed purposes multiple times through the day. I've of my family members also stayed over, as the event required a few wardrobe changed we used the room for this. The room was immaculate, well presented and for once in a hotel nothing was damaged. Each time we returned to the room we discovered house keeping had either added fruit as a snack, tidied up and on our final visit they had removed all the quilt toppers and display pillows so my brother in law could easily dive into bed at the end of the night. Finally we had a few drinks at the bar, the staff were again friendly and full of smiles. Our bartender was friendly and engaging. He had a real passion for mixing drinks; he was kind enough to explain the what he was doing, my father in law has a cocktail and he loved it. Not enough good things to say. Oh they allowed early check in and late check out as they knew we were attending the wedding being held there.

All Inter-Continentals are good, so this is a better hotel than most but it's not the best by a long way. New York wouldn't put up with the poor service and signage. Try finding the toilets from the lobby without asking. Indeed, try finding someone to ask or to get you a taxi. I may have been unlucky - the facilities are excellent but when I was there the staff were poor.

We went to Intercontinental for dinner at Theo Randall. Expectations were high as the menu and prices make one assume the service would be impeccable, it was lacking. Attention to the table and meal was not consistent for a restaurant that prices itself like that. Food was good, but unremarkable. There were excellent ones like the calf liver main and the souffle starter, but that was the only 2 out of 12 dishes. Consistency is lacking. Chef was apologetic about two of the dishes that had problems and was gracious enough to remove them off the bill and offered some puddings at no charge but that did not take care of the feeling that we paid too much.

Beautiful superior room. Staff were so lovely and caring but also very respectful. I enjoyed the room service cuisine. HOWEVER through all 3 nights of our stay (in the middle of the night) our door kept being opened, not sure if it was the adjoining rooms on either side but it was quite annoying and we couldn't understand why it was happening every night.

Would have been 5 stars if not for the last minute incident at the spa on Wednesday 7th October.
Amazing customer service throughout the stay, from the moment you step in and out of the hotel. Very welcoming and friendly staff. All the lovely things they had provided for us without request made it even more special.
I would say avoid the spa, I got a facial and almost lost my right eye because of it. I don't believe it was intentional but I would have assumed that the lady, Anna, would be more careful with strong chemicals around sensitive areas such as the eyes, as it burned for a long time and can still feel slight stinging.

The hotel is really lovely. From the moment you walk up to it when you arrive you can see its somewhere special.

That feeling continues at check in too. We were travelling with your 4 year old and they gave her a lovely little cuddly bear toy. Our little one was really pleased.

Rooms are a fairly good size for London hotels. Our was impeccably finished, a really upmarket feel.

I would recommend eating in Theo Randall's restaurant inside the hotel. Its very delicious and the super service continues here too.

Nights here aren't cheap but the service you will receive and the experience you will have should be faultless. A highly recommended hotel if you want something special in London.

A decent 5* hotel on park lane. Nice room - free upgrade for my birthday was a nice touch. Hotel felt a little lacking in facilities (no swimming pool/gym for example) and there was no real lobby area to meet up / sit in. Breakfast staff were poor however - kept getting the order wrong - not what you would expect from a hotel of this standard.

Fantastic hotel. Stayed here with my teen daughter for her 1st trip ever to London. For her it was an unbelievable experience. I stayed here a few years ago and wow this is a fantastic restaurant. They have a great clean hotel, with very friendly staff. In the late afternoon, they offer a tea and snack hour with small appetizers and drinks, and it is a great time to relax after a long day of exploring. The hotel has fantastic views of the Wellington Arch, and is just minutes from Buckingham Palace. The tube station is also right outside of the front entrance, and we couldn't have been happier with the location of the hotel. If I ever make it back to London, I will be lucky to get to stay here again.
