Environment

Property's Green Action

We believe that incorporating societal and environmental factors in our business strategy and operations will play a vital role in the long-term viability of our business and the travel and tourism sector. We manage and minimise our impact on the environment by tracking and reducing the use of energy, water and waste. We also use bio-friendly cleaning materials and promote local sustainability initiatives such as low carbon alternative means of transport.

Certifications

Green Engage

The IHG Green Engage system is our group-wide online sustainability program. It allows hotels to track, measure, and report on their carbon footprint and utility consumption as well as recommending more than 200 ‘Green Solutions’ which help deliver greater sustainability.

The IHG Green Engage system:
• Measures energy, waste, and water use
• Recommends over 200 Green Solutions to reduce the impacts our energy, waste, and water use have on the environment
• Supports hotels to create environmental action plans and targets
• Promote local sustainability initiatives such as low carbon alternative means of transport
• Biodiversity: keeping the disturbance of animals, plants, and their natural habitats to a minimum. A set of recommendations aimed at preserving and protecting on-site local flora and fauna and the wider regional ecosystems has been developed. This includes advice on the management of green spaces and long-term strategies for protecting local environments.

Green Globe

Green Globe’s International Standard for Sustainable Tourism is a certification scheme that requires hotels to report on their sustainability performance throughout their supply chains. It traces its roots back to the United Nations Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit in 1992, where 182 Heads of State endorsed the Agenda 21 principles of Sustainable Development. The standards are a collection of over 330 compliance indicators that are applied to 41 individual sustainability criteria - these can be divided into four themes:

• Sustainable Management
• Social/Economic
• Cultural Heritage
• Environmental

Clients can calculate their CO2e footprint, the financial cost of that CO2e, and track their performance of energy and water consumption and non-recyclable waste production. The certification is only awarded to members that have a compliance rating of at least 51%. The award can then only be maintained if members continually improve by 3% every year.

The Green Key

Green Key is an eco-label awarded to around 3,200 hotels and other sites in more than 65 countries worldwide. Achieving the Green Key award requires compliance with a range of criteria, including:

• Comply with legislation and CSR policy within the areas of environment, health, safety, and labor
• Prepare an environmental/sustainability policy and action plan
• Train staff on environmental/sustainability issues
• Display information about Green Key and other environmental/sustainability initiatives
• Display information about local transportation and nearby parks/conservation areas
• Implement water-saving initiatives in guest rooms, e.g. flow restrictors in taps and showers, smart watering initiatives of the garden, etc.
• Install program for the reuse of towels and/or sheets in guest rooms
• Separate waste and implementation of waste saving initiatives (including food waste)
• Avoid the use of chemical cleaning products with dangerous compounds
• Safe storage of chemical products
• Stationary and paper are environmentally friendly produced
• Implement energy-saving initiatives in guest rooms, e.g. energy-efficient light bulbs, standard-defined heating/cooling temperature, etc.
• Purchase of food/beverage products that are organic, eco-labeled, fair-trade labeled, and/or locally produced
• Avoid chemical pesticides and fertilizers in green areas
• Staff areas fulfill the same requirements as guests and public areas
• Encourage cooperation with suppliers and local community on environmental/sustainability matters

Beautiful place about 150 year old. Doesn't feel like though, in mint condition. The service what you would expect of such a place. Quite, safe, good for a conversation, dalliance ;-)
They have a ball room which had been grabbed by Napolean III and is an exact replica of the Opera near by.

Great hotel inside and out. Beautiful rooms. Loved buffet in hotel lounge club on top floor. But it does cost some, but if a Priority Club member of Holiday Inn, might get a discount. But the charm for me, was the view from the balcony (although small), there was a great view of the Eiffel Tower. If you want to see it, be sure to have a balcony or window facing it.

Great central location, beautiful common areas. Received a complimentary upgrade to a superior room with an "Eiffel tower view" which is only obtainable when standing out on the balcony theoretically. Sadly this was obscured by the construction in the adjacent building. Service was great at the front desk. There is no swimming pool contrary to what it may say on certain review sites.

I definitely prefer the modern. This hotel is with a classic style. So if you like this type of design you might like it. Large rooms and shower area. Sanitary in other separated from shower area. Comfy bed. Attentive staff.

Absolutely beautiful on the inside so I'm really only rating it for the amazing conference room, although kind of tricky to find on the street due to so much scaffolding around it.
Also, there were too many tickets sold for cheese night, making us have to leave early since it was no longer enjoyable and practically impossible to try anything else. Probably will not return next year.

Incredible hotel. Probably one of the best InterContinental hotels in the world. I love the location. It's in the middle of everything that I love about Paris. Some rooms tend to be a little noisy. There are many amazing restaurants within 10 minutes of walking. The rooms are very pricy just like all Paris hotels in this category, but it's money well-spent. Staying here feels like having a time machine that allows me to travel back into history.

A really nice spacious hotel for Paris. The buffet is one of the best I've had in France with a wide range from Chinese, to western to Japanese or your fruit and veg. Staff are nice and helpful and the rooms feel clean. It can be very hit or miss depending on what room you get as I once had a massive room with a big long hallway. One thing to note is that if you take something out the fridge just be moving it, it will charge you so be warned. The area feels really with security always at the front entrance with regular bag check on entrance. The water pressure in the shower is good and strong too.

AMAZING. 5 star. Have to say. I couldn't believe how amazing the quality in the rooms there was. Also the sraff can speak fluent English which really helped. However I think they should put the price of drinks down as 1 glass of wine was £23.

It feels like you are living in one of Paris's historical sites, and you actually are. Beautiful interiors and one of the oldest hotels in the city, it also houses the famous Cafe de la Paix which had a great breakfast spread every morning. Rooms are also comfortable and more spacious than most.

Nice traditionally designed hotel. However rooms are very small especially given the price. The cafe and lounge are great however.

Absolutely amazing experience. Located in the heart of paris and the opera. Walk to metro, bus, shopping and grand tours. The hotel staff will bend over backwards to make your stay extra comfortable. The buffet breakfast was scrumptious.

Awesome location, walkable to quite a few places. In room dining is great service is absolutely on time, front desk and concierge are really efficient. So full 5 stars to all of these services, I hate to reduce one star in the over all rating as the housekeep staff did not do a good job of cleaning, there was dust on our tables even after cleaning, mini bar was not replenished with consumed items, tea bags were not provided on day 3 and 4. Small but annoying things when you pay so much money to stay for a few days.

Over all I would definitely recommend this place, for short stays to cover most of the city.

Stayed here Aug 15-19 2017. Very close to everything. As an ambassador member my room was upgraded to a small junior suite with an opera view. This hotel is historic and close to everything. Staff was friendly to me but I did see others complain about rooms and costs. I will agree the rooms are a bit dated but hey it's Paris. If you want a quiet room get a room on floor 3 or higher because the subway runs under the hotel and your room will rattle from 6am until well after midnight each day. Also as an ambassador member you have to book a club lounge room or greater if you don't your wasting your time trying to get complimentary club access you will be denied. Instead they will offer it to you for 130 euros per night. All in all my family and I had a pleasant stay!! My husband and I did come to the conclusion that if you travel with kids this hotel isn't the place unless you want to pay top dollar for the over priced prestige suite but if he and I are just traveling together we would stay at the LE Grand again!!!

Nice room and good view from the Opera room. Rather disappointed with the overall experience unfortunately.

First on I was checked into absolutely stank of smoke - for a partner with asthma this was not good. The second room was already taken, after I had stood outside for several minutes trying to get in.. the bellhop let me in to find someone was in there. The third room we got, after complaining was much better. It was small and didn't have an Effie tower view like we had originally expected, but had an opera view which was magnificent. The guest services did a lot to help but it took me to convince them they needed to help me after my experience to do something about it. I can't fault the lady as she was doing her job and ended up being very helpful.

The concierge were polite and always willing to help but again we're not the most attentive, despite the huge tip we gave. We asked for one dinner recommendation and it was a bad experience. We asked for another evening tip and again we're hugely disappointed.

Stayed with two other rooms and they had terrible experiences too. Particular one who is a Spire Royal Ambassador, their second highest tier (I believe) and had to argue/convince staff why he was having a bad experience.

The hotel itself was nice, though a little outdated. Generally the staff were polite and helpful, they just couldn't quite seem to get it right, time after time.

Doubt we will be staying again, despite our 600,000+ IHG points.

Although we were only there for a wedding party, I was pleasantly surprised by the standards of not only the building but the vert helpful staff. Situated right next to the amazing opera house, i would almost dare to say that location wise its one of the best hotels in Paris. The staff were always helpful and the wedding party had a great time.

On vacation and so happy to stay here for 3 nights. Location is near perfect. Beds super comfy. Bathroom very nice and roomy. A little disappointed in our 5 star room. Too small. Could not open fridge door without rearranging table and chairs which also blocked access to window. Service friendly. Beauty all around.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HoteIRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around...

By far one of the best experiences i have ever had at a hotel. Just in the first day alone I had 3 great experiences. When I checked in there were two other people being helped so i had to wait a few minutes. Not long at all in my opinion, like 5min but when i did get checked in the manager (i think) upgraded me to a superior suite! Wow! Just for waiting a totally acceptable amount of time. Then the staff called us maybe an hour later just to check in and see how we were doing. Lastly about 2hrs later house keeping dropped by to also ask if we needed anything. This was all in just one day! Amazing. I really don't have any negative feedback for this place.

A solid 4.5 stars. Spacious sites (for Paris they are really spacious), twice a day cleaning, everything in the hotel looks very very good!!!
I took out half a star because of two things: I found some mildew on shower head and the second is that of you touch anything in the mini fridge - it is on your bill. Yes, everything in it is on sensor.

Top shelf in every way. Attended a party here. Possibly the most amazing hotel ballroom in the world. If you are looking for the ultimate wedding room, this is it. We were in the lower level party room and it was perfect for our 180-200 person party. We had hors d'oeuvres in the main dining area which was epic. Great setting and the perfect vibe. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and all speak English.
