What a great hotel! When my mom had to have procedure done at UCSF, she was told lodging would be free. I wondered what kind of lodging we would have. I was surprised how luxurious our hotel was. Beautiful rooms and bathroom too. But, the staff was phenomenal! Due to Covid we ordered a lot of room service. Food was very good and the service excellent. I will definitely look into booking at Marriott in the future due to experience at this hotel.

Stayed at this hotel three times in 2019. Love this hotel. Couple of blocks away from the Union Square. Lounge at the top floor has amazing views. Love the marble floors all over.

Service: 5
Atmosphere: 5
Cleanliness: 5
Value for money: 5
Recommendation: recommend this hotel for Bonvoy elites with access to a lounge.

Stayed for 5 nights for a conference.

It is a pleasant hotel with a friendly staff. It felt more "high end" than luxurious if that makes sense (no one was snooty, but on the other hand I didn't feel like anyone went out of their way be attentive either).

It is the little things that are memorable for me, though - such as: I found it strange to find such a quality difference between the hand towels in the common restroom on the concierge level (which were luxurious and felt almost like cloth) compared to the bathroom tissue in the guest room, which appeared to be an economical brand similar to what you would encounter in a gas station bathroom.

But overall, I would recommend this hotel, and will stay here again in the future (though I will bring my own bathroom tissue).

Beautiful hotel! Love the rooms, interior decor and beds were comfy. This hotel is in a good location and in the heart of SF, everything is walking distance in downtown. My family and I stayed here last year, it was my sister’s birthday, the front desk agent upgraded us to a nice room and we had a great stay. The only issue we encountered was valet parking but management was able to resolve the issue in a timely manner. Staff are friendly and the view lounge bar had incredible views and drinks!

4 star hotel with 2 star service and that’s being generous. I have stayed at other JW Marriott properties and they always exceeded my expectations. This hotel is not the same as others. Starting with the nastiest windows where you cannot even take a picture to the fact their outdoor atrium they have on the website was closed in July. Then I had to send repeated request to get extra towels while was listed on my profile as an elite member. I tried multiple times my day of arriving and the staff ignored me.

There are other nearby hotels that will provide much better service

The JW Mariott is a very beautiful looking hotel. The room was gorgeously appointed including a recently updated bathroom, and the hotel staff delivered top notch service. That said, the substance of the hotel could use a little love- the beds were very firm and a bit uncomfortable, the towels were serviceable but not very soft, and the hair dryer was cheap but cheerful. There was a good deal of street noise all night, too. However, the location couldn't be better for access to high-end shops and dining. In summary, a very pretty hotel that is close to everything but maybe won't suit your needs if you're a light sleeper.

This place was a good option for a stay near union square. Despite the semi recent renovations, it didn’t quite have the JW Marriott feel that is amazing in some other parts of the world. A few extra touches of renovation (maybe the elevators and public spaces, replace the over bed mirrors in rooms, etc).

Water pressure improvements and non-dehydrating A/Cs are also very much needed.

Very nice hotel. Rooms are recently renovated. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom with very nice shower. Good closet space. In room safe. Had drinks at the bar on the third floor and our server was lovely. Had lunch at the restaurant there also, very delicious burger and fries. Again, our server was lovely. Of course everything is expensive but it was mostly worth it. All service from bellhops to front desk was attentive and friendly.

The room was something out of the ordinary. The bathroom area had its own hallway that led to an open foyer with not one but two vanities , huge shower, private toilet and 2 large closets. Well designed no wasted space. Very appealing.

Enjoyed this hotel, the rooms were updated recently. We had the pleasure of staying in a two queen room which had plenty of space! The bathroom and shower was absolutely massive and had more space than we needed. You are next to Union Square so you are generously situated in a great shopping and restaurant area. I was happy being just a 5minute walk from halal guys!

I would stay here again!

Great location, close to everything downtown. Clean quite room, with luxury appointments. The bar closes early, so find nightlife elsewhere. The staff are top notch, professional, and welcoming. I'll definitely stay here again.

10

Excellent service. The lounge was closed during my stay, but I received a couple of thousand bonus points for that time. Great location. Close to the BART, local shopping, and convenient for sightseeing. If I could change one thing, it would be to have a bathroom located near the gym rather than going back to my room. I always have a good stay at a JW Marriott.

The hotel is well located at Union square and is beautiful. The elevators are fickle and sometimes didn't go where we wanted or took forever. The rooms are nice and of high quality. We had specific requests that the front desk forgot about and the room wasn't made up on the first day, but they were quick to respond to our comments. The weird thing is the way the hotel is laid out- you have to go up to the third floor to check in.

Very good hotel in a great location, one block from Union Square. The rooms are comfortable and stylish, but not very large. The gym is adequate. The 3rd floor restaurant is quite decent. Service overall is excellent.

High class hotel in Mason st very near all the action. So location is very good. Although the Hotel was under renovation ,previously alerted, high service and access were maintained. Marriott high standards are met here and the rooms are accordingly. The gym is equipped with high end gear and wide footprint. I love it. As for the breakfast- good variety and tasty food. I love the fact that you can choose the omlet's ingredients on spot. Overall very good.

4 star hotel but lack the services. I have to call to get basic amenities that should’ve been set up beforehand: bathrobe, slippers, and water bottles.

The light switches in the room are also very strange. They are set to automatically turn off but not turn on. They are also located at random locations making it hard to navigate at night.

The room also smell like paint. The one good thing about the room is that climate control is very easy to use and work.

Very nice hotel. Older style but well maintained. The glass elevator is really cool but moves quickly. My friend who gets easily motion sick had to be careful which way she looked while riding it.

The JW Marriott exceeded my expectations in everyway. It is so beautiful the moment the car drops you off and the staff are incredibly nice. The rooms are gorgeous and the elevators are super fast. The room service is superb - I left my watch and shirt in the room unknowingly and the staff contacted my cellphome to aware they have my stuff. Great stay. Highly recommend

When in San Francisco the Financial District is convenient to many things whether walking or driving. Good city views are abundant. The rooms are good size, clean, updated. The staff is courteous & helpful when on site. Overall a very nice property when in town.

This is an excellent hotel that focuses immense attention on service. Rooms are very spacious with high-end fixtures. Parking is valet only and $65/night but requesting your car is easy (you do it via text message) and fast. There are no fridges in the rooms but if you have things that you want to keep cold, call the front desk and they'll bring a fridge to your room. Great experience from check-in to check-out.

The JW Marriott at Union Square is a top notch hotel. The service was impeccable. The location is very convenient to many of downtown San Francisco's attractions. The rooms are nicely appointed and quite comfortable. I've stayed here 3 times and would highly recommend.

I have only stayed here once (i always stay at the Marriott Marquis when i can). it is a nice hotel and the lobby and elevator are worth a look. The main thing i remember is that other than when i stay in New York City (which is whole different deal) it is literally the most I have ever paid for any hotel. I don't know what i was expecting but it wasn't that amazing. That said, it is definitely a five star hotel.

6

Not a bad place in SF. A bit up the hill and away from Union Square but really just a quick walk. Hotel is everything you would expect from a JW Marriot, however checkout is super slow and parking fees are like having a second room.... $67 per night while staying at the hotel. Feels like a little gouge.

Very nice hotel. Great location in the center of downtown San Francisco, and super close to Union Square. Pretty much everything is within walking distance. The hotel staff are very nice. There was some construction going on when I stayed there but the noise is kept at a minimum during night time. I was also upgraded to a bigger room due to status so it is very nice that they are recognizing elite members. Will come back again if I am in the area.

5

The hotel was nice, good location. Here are my complaints: parking is a pain, valet only. The rooms are small, you have to request a refrigerator, and there's no microwave, meaning it's not great for long term stays. There are no ice machines, you have to request ice to be delivered; on many occasions the ice never showed up. Breakfast is really pricey. The staff here are friendly, but after two weeks I was ready to leave.

I heard from co-workers that the JW was a more premier Marriott so I expected such. Compared to the Marquis it is definitely not. I've walked through the main entrance over a half a dozen times during my stay and not a single look from the staff. The bathrooms are nice and the beds were very comfortable. The room I was in tried to show this apparent JW feel but it felt more fake and a cover up than anything else. The hotel is an easy walk from the BART and has many good places to eat around it. I would stay here again but that's because I'm out here for business and not pleasure.

Stayed 1 night (Saturday). With gold status, I received a complimentary upgrade to a suite, which, while big, was not particularly lavish (6th floor with no view). The beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was large with a separate tub and shower. The location is great (as is any hotel at Union SQ). The top floor are undergoing renovation. The club is open on weekends but does not have service (no food).

It's your typical loud down town over priced hotel. Parking is 66+ tax. Breakfast is about 30 bucks per person. The hotel is also under construction.

The staff is very nice the rooms are clean and comfortable. If we didn't need to be down town due to work I would have stayed someplace that doesn't try to nickel and dime you for everything it can.

Was staying here when the city had a 7 hour power outage. Talk about taking care of their customers. Provided food and drink to get us through and heroics from the bell staff hauling our luggage down 16 flights. Thanks JW, you guys are the best! Great property and loved out room. Wonderful service and accommodating staff. We'll be back for sure.

The rooms in the top floor was really nice. However, they claim that the rooms were remodeled, but I was at floor 16, so it probably meant the remodeled rooms were in the 5 to 10 floor range. Great view from my place!

As always, the Marriott bedding is superb. Service excellent, including ability to check in with a room available at 10a. Meeting space had low ceilings and felt a bit cramped, but again, the service was excellent. Restaurant was okay to me (fish tacos), but my co-workers loved their steak, said it was better than high end steak restaurants. Would stay here again.

JW is top of the notch and San Francisco hotel is not an exception. Service is outstanding and the welcome is very memorable. We stayed during a holiday weekend and the club lounge was closed for that weekend but the breakfast/snack choices are second to none. It's a nice hotel. Has all the amenities. The executive platinum lounge is super average though, and the maids aren't very personable. I like the Netflix on the TVs in the rooms. It's very centrally located to anywhere in downtown SF you might need to go.

This is a very nice, modern hotel in a fine location near Union Square. I was upgraded to a large suite, which was a clear plus. Service was quite good too. I had a meeting room as well. The room was fine, and the service, again, was very strong. I would happily return.

Had drinks with some friends who were in town for a convention. This was my first time visiting level 3, it wasn't what I expected. The JW is an impressive hotel so I imagined their much hyped bar would be a sumptuous experience with expansive views of sf. Negative ghostrider it's just a simple bar with one TV. Pass unless you must be there, with so many amazing places why waste your time on average.

Had a great stay here. They held our bags while we were waiting to be able to check into our rooms, and expedited the cleaning process due to our early arrival. Very tall building, with many floors, and a nice art piece or sculpture seemingly on each. I cannot vouch for every room, but ours did not have the best view. Out the window was just the side of another building, unless you leaned over and looked at a pretty extreme angle. Overall a great stay, and the staff were very nice and accommodating, with drivers always ready out front (there I only used Uber but it was nice they had the option).

This was a great hotel to stay in. The staff were perfect and the food in the concierge lounge was on par.

Very well located, one block from union squarer, and 3 blocks "3min walking' away from Market street.
Surrounded with many great shopping malls, restaurants, cafes and .......
Special thanks to Mr. NASIR MUBARAK who took extra care of us.
Defiantly would recommend it to all my friends and I will stay in it again whenever I'm in SF.
