Property's Green Action

A Sustainable Development approach. The Grand Hôtel Cannes is a dynamic palace which evolves with society. The property is always looking to be as sustainable as possible by improving its operating methods and by paying particular attention to the nature and origin of its stock. All of its operations and activities are carried out with the environment in mind. Some significant information and figures from 2014: More than 70% of the products and food used or consumed on site originates from within a 160km radius. The hotel has signed the Mr Goodfish charter in support of sustainable fishing. The breakfast buffet primarily consists of organic products. 72% of our wine menu (excluding champagne) comes from either sustainable and organic vineyards or those that are in progress of becoming so. 80% of electrical appliances used carry the Energy Star label, with the other 20% soon to be replaced ! The large majority of the cleaning products used by our maids are eco-friendly. The Grand Hôtel is committed to removing all harmful substances from its daily activities Rubbish sorting has been introduced in our bedrooms and in public areas.

Certifications

Green Globe

Green Globe’s International Standard for Sustainable Tourism is a certification scheme that requires hotels to report on their sustainability performance throughout their supply chains. It traces its roots back to the United Nations Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit in 1992, where 182 Heads of State endorsed the Agenda 21 principles of Sustainable Development. The standards are a collection of over 330 compliance indicators that are applied to 41 individual sustainability criteria - these can be divided into four themes:

• Sustainable Management
• Social/Economic
• Cultural Heritage
• Environmental

Clients can calculate their CO2e footprint, the financial cost of that CO2e, and track their performance of energy and water consumption and non-recyclable waste production. The certification is only awarded to members that have a compliance rating of at least 51%. The award can then only be maintained if members continually improve by 3% every year.

Agriculture Biologique

Organic farming (AB ) is a sign identifying quality and origin. It guarantees a quality attached to a mode of production that respect the environment and animal welfare.

The food is composed of at least 95% of ingredients from organic production, implementing agronomic practices and breeding respectful of the natural balance, the environment, and animal welfare; Compliance with the regulations in force in France; That certification is under the control of a body approved by the French authorities, that meet the criteria of independence, impartiality, competence and efficiency as defined by the European standard EN 45011.

Energy Star

ENERGY STAR is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency voluntary program that helps businesses and individuals save money and protect our climate through superior energy efficiency.

Buildings that have earned the Energy Star label use an average of almost 40 percent less energy than average buildings, and emit 35 percent less carbon. LEED-EB buildings must achieve a certain Energy Star score as a prerequisite for certification.

Service was slow and hotel rooms need a remodeling. The grounds are nice and ocean view is beautiful but that is it. Would definitely not rate five star probably a bad 4 star. The concierge mixed up requests and gave bad information. I even stayed in one of the nicest rooms the panoramic jacuzzi suit and it was still sub par (though the balcony and views were spectacular that doesn't make the hotel better). The shower was also pretty bad it only had a wand with light water pressure (no shower head) but maybe other rooms are different

With a light remodeling and staff training the hotel has potential.

Absolutely 5-star. Stayed for 4 nights in May and it was expensive but it was worth it! It is right in front of the beach with direct access to private beach and a restaurant. The breakfast is buffet style and 36eur (I think) but it is excellent. We got breakfast for one morning and my boyfriend said it was the best smoke salmon he has ever had and the croissants are AMAZING! We had the city view suite which was very roomy and you were able to customize your stay. I order a dozen macaroons and a bottle of champagne and it was in our room upon arrival. Our traveling partner was in a sea view room and it was breathtaking. Next time we go we will be staying in the sea view room as well. Close to all the luxury shops, cèline, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, and close to the theatre were they hold the Cannes film festival. Top luxury hotel with spacious rooms and great, personalized amenities.
