I flew in from Chicago to attend the Dallas VS Bears game. The hotel is luxurious and stylish. The room were very clean and bed was very comfortable. The Complimentary coffee was delicious, room service was on point, the lobby area is spacious and luxurious, the pool area is very stylish and up-to-date design. This hotel have a dine in restaurants in it. Whenever I flying to Dallas I'm booking a room at this hotel.

How does this place stay open?

That's what kept going through my mind while staying here on business, because I couldn't find anything except the super soft toilet paper to recommend it and multiple reasons to warn business travelers away.

I had my administrative assistant make last-minute hotel reservations when the reservation I had fell through at a nearby Marriott due to a SNAFU and she booked me at The Lumen.

Right off the bat, we were not given a heads up that valet parking cost $30 nightly and is not optional. The hotel does not offer self-parking. That alone put it on my "do not return" list.

The room was nice, but no hair dryer, no microwave, no coffee maker, and a super small fridge that required a key to turn it on (so it wasn't cold the first night) and only allowed beverages to be stored in it as there was no shelf.

The shower pressure was so low it could never in a million years get the shampoo out of my hair if I chose to wash my hair. Since the shower head was non-adjustable and there was no tub, a quick check of the water pressure in the sink with both faucets turned on high informed my decision to go sans clean hair for the upcoming 3 days.

I arrived in the lobby a little before 7AM the next morning and asked the front desk staff where the coffee was and he pointed to a closed off area and said it would be available at 7:00.
(What hotel does not have coffee available before 7AM?) At 7:00 the door opened up to.. wait for it...A coffee bar. I could now get my 6 oz cup of joe for $2.75 while I waited on my car to be retrieved from a parking space that was literally 20 feet from where I was standing. I chose to cut my stay from 3 nights to 2 nights to avoid any further ruination of my otherwise cheery disposition.

When my boyfriend and I got to our reserved room, we had a severe issue almost immediately. However, the staff was amazing about solving it and upgraded us to a suite. They were very accommodating and considerate.

Also, the elevator was down during our stay.
