The location of this hotel is wonderful! Located on the harbor with access to trains, trams, boats, and walking. It is also one block from the cruise ships. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent. The staff are helpful and cheerful. The rooms are luxurious and have great views. I will stay here again, and I will highly recommend this hotel to others.

Checked in at 3:30-ish AM and found out our room had been upgraded with an amazing view. Staff was so friendly and helpful even providing plates and cutlery so we could enjoy takeout in our room. Views are gorgeous and the suite was very clean.

We had a brief stay in Chicago due to a canceled flight. The flight cancellation and stress about fitting in video conference meetings for work the next day was relieved by being so well accommodated by their staff. The hotel is beautiful, rooms are comfortable, and the location perfect, but their staff was truly amazing. I can't speak highly enough about all of them, but Alexandra really went the extra mile to help us out. We will definitely make this our hotel of choice in Chicago.

The experience was outstanding starting at the door. The doorman was welcoming and helpful. At check in we were greeted warmly and I was give a bottle of wine and a room upgrade to a river view. What a great way to start my birthday weekend. The room was comfy and clean. It had everything you could ever want in the mini bar. The soap, full size body wash and shampoo and conditioner smelled delicious, made with essential oils. The fruit infused water and complementary coffee each morning was a great way to start the day. The rooms were very quiet, we never heard the other rooms, or anyone in the hallway. Thank you for hosting my husband and I. We will definitely keep you in mind when we come back to Chicago.

Snazzy boutique hotel with tons of character all around. Great location in the city. Staff is super helpful. Can't complain about the wine happy hour every day from 5-6!

I don’t know what happened here. I stayed here years ago and remember it being quirky and cute. This time around my corner room seemed to have awkward proportions and a mystery musty smell I simply can’t get over. Plus the small thing: my TV looked like it was from 2005, the shower curtain wasn’t that clean looking and the bathroom just doesn’t seem to match the rest of the experience. Perhaps it was just my one room. There are a lot of lovely things to consider: great location if you are traveling for business; big robes available, yoga mats in every room, wine- happy hours available daily and free coffee at 6AM sharp daily. This gets the job done, but it just seemed to have lost it’s appeal from when I last stayed about 6 years ago.

Very nice hotel. Great location within walking distance or a short Uber ride away from virtually anything one may want to do or see while visiting downtown Chicago. I was most impressed with the friendly and engaging staff! They were all very eager to help and provide information to make my stay pleasant. The valet service is great!!

We had a pleasant stay. The hotel is very clean, the staff courteous and the hotel is centrally located. Too bad we missed the complimentary wine at the designated hours. But we had complimentary coffee and it was excellent. Oh, we also love the window seat. We will definitely book at this hotel the next time we're in Chicago. FYI: River view rooms are the best but they all do face the Trump building.

Wonderful hotel! The staff is very attentive and friendly. My dog was treated like every other guest. This hotel is in a great location. It’s blocks away from Michigan Ave, Millennium Park and the Riverwalk. The decor is awesome. I will definitely be staying here again.

We truly enjoyed our stay. The room was immaculate, the staff were very hospitable and the lobby refreshments always hit the spot! We did have an issue with a mini bar charge that we were incorrectly charged and it was a bit of a pain (multiple days of calling) to have it finally removed; however, it was eventually taken care of. Otherwise, we loved it!

We loved our stay at Kimpton Monaco! The staff was helpful and courteous, especially Antonio! From the moment we checked in, we were greeted by name. The room was large and comfortable. The blackout curtains truly work to have a good night’s sleep. The coffee in the morning was great, the tea wonderful, and the happy hour hopping. We will come back!

Wow! The staff at this places goes above and beyond. We were greeted with a warm welcome and every employee was friendly and professional, especially Antonio and Jonathan. They made our stay very enjoyable. We loved the complimentary cocktail hour from 5-6 and the free bike rentals! I recommend riding along the river all the way to the Lake. You can access the riverfront path right across from the hotel. We also enjoyed our room. It was like a vintage bedroom - small and quaint! Perfect for a few nights. Lastly, they are very pet friendly! We will be back! Thanks Monaco!

Upon checking in we were greeted by attentive and friendly staff. Jonathan (who opened the door for us, and later got us outfitted with bikes, and put our bags in storage) was very friendly, and Michelle at the front desk provided us with excellent suggestions for things to do around town during the day and at night. Rooms were nice with good beds and good views (very thick blackout curtains for a good nice sleep). Wine hour is a nice touch, and the location is perfect for exploring the Loop and River North neighbourhoods. Close to the rail line for further exploration, but far enough away to not get the noise.

Friendly, helpful staff, Very nice rooms, and a great location. If you are visiting Chicago, and want to be close to it all this is the spot for you. Drive up, hand them your keys and enjoy the city.
Kimpton hotels offer more of an experience than the cookie cutter big name hotels. Unique atmosphere with all the amenities you expect from a modern hotel.

You feel like you've been transported back to the 40s based on the ambiance when you walk into the lobby. But don't let that fool you. All the modern conveniences, good food at the restaurant, craft cocktails at the bar. Central location makes this a lovely retreat for those new to the city, or a weekend get away for locals.

Did I mention the free wine and snacks every day from 4 to 6, so you can get to know your 'neighbors' as well as the locals! Friendly people and superb staff.

This is our favorite hotel in Chicago. So much so, we make an effort to come here every year. The staff is very nice, responsive to any issues you may have. The wine happy hour every afternoon is fun. Plus their location is excellent to everything you’d want to do. Pay extra for river view. It’s worth it!

The staff have been extremely courteous and helpful. The room is very comfortable with a high ceiling and a comfortable nook overlooking the river. The hotel is in very close proximity to Michigan Ave, Navy Pier, Grant Park and many other great places to visit. The fitness room was clean and had nice equipment. I'll definitely look into staying here again next time I'm in Chicago.

Get away from hustle of Chicago but close to River and amenities. Set a block back from Michigan Ave and Riverwalk so you benefit from what the hotel has to offer without fighting your way in and out. Huge fan of service and staff friendliness. Michael at the front door is sort helpful and always saying hi to all guests, even your 4-legged ones! Hotel is dog friendly

I Love this hotel. The window seats are beautiful. It's a great little retreat in your street facing room. The staff is wonderful, Luis was great sport. The lobby is warm and inviting too. The only reason for the 4 stars is the mini bar prices are totally unreasonable...but I believe every hotel is like this. Would stay again and will recommend. The locations is Perfect!!

We're staying for four days, and so far, the hotel and people have been wonderful. Doorman is very friendly, everyone at the front desk is all smiles and more than happy to suggest restaurants or other locales if you ask. Our room is comfortable, clean, the hot water is endless and delightful.

Nice hotel, comfortable, clean room. Restaurant is currently closed for renovations. There are no coffee makers in the rooms, and they only have a coffee pot in the lobby for a few hours each morning. Convenient location (although in -5 degrees F, even the Starbucks a block away seemed far)

Very nice hotel with great staff. The service was excellent, and the addition of little treats like the wine bar, hot cocoa, etc really set Kimpton hotels ahead of the pack. Monaco or the grey will be our go-to choice for hotels whenever we visit Chicago.

I stayed here over Christmas. The hotel is built around people. There are lots of options for meeting people, the lobby is set up like a living room, and pets are warmly welcomed. If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around...

We stayed at Hotel Monaco this past weekend and it was everything we needed. Our room was cozy and the service is outstanding! However if I could rate the in-room massage experience it would be a 2. The massage therapists arrived 15 minutes late to start, and I left in more pain than before I started. The therapists performed very little of the deep tissue we paid for, instead taking it upon themselves to perform multiple chiropractic maneuvers that they certainly should not have been performing. Do NOT waste your money on this painful experience. I did not want my rating to affect the hotel in any way because the hotel and our room itself was exceptional.

Stayed here for one night after flying into o'hare. Really nice staff. Wine hour is a nice touch: 5-6pm. Most of the rooms have huge cozy window seats about four feet off the ground. Makes you feel like a kid looking down over the river. Highly recommended.

I'm not a an avid traveler but after staying at this hotel I certainly aspire to be one. Stayed 3 nights and didn't want to leave. The king suite room was huge and very comfortable, the first day I didn't even want to get out of bed it was that good. I was also on the 14th floor and it was super quiet, I swear I got the best sleep of my life ! But what really stands out about this hotel is the customer service, from the time you arrive you are greeted with a warm welcome and the people who work there are very professional. I ordered food during the am and their system was malfunctioning, so because of that they gave it to me for free, they also gave me an extra juice because it took the guy too long to bring it up, talk about superb customer service. There's also bikes you can ride and don't forget the free wine ! Beware though that when you open your fridge and drawers it's stocked with all kinds of snacks and your charged for everything you take and it can get pricey but hey it's Chicago, a dry burger on the lake cost me $20 so go figure. If your new to Chicago and want something in a super convenient location go with this place as its centrally located. Highly recommend this hotel.

Came to Chicago for the weekend. Location was great for us as it was in between everywhere we wanted to be downtown. Room's were excellent. My girlfriend's only gripe was lack of counterspace in the bathroom. Bed was super comfy. Slept like a baby. Seems like a great place to bring a pet. Staff was very courteous.

I previously stayed at the Kimpton Monaco in Philadelphia, so when I came here I had high hopes. The hotel and rooms were good but I wouldn't say great. Now, I don't know if it's just the room type we got but I was hoping for a nice walk in shower, instead I got a pretty regular tub and generic old shower head. There was a microwave and fridge in the room. Not much clothesline storage besides the one night stand in the corner (3 drawers). For trips with a few days, I like to unpack, especially business trips.

My wife and I stayed here while visiting family in Chicago. It was the perfect stay. The hotel was comfortable and clean and close to everything. The Kimpton is a fantastic choice. We only had 1 day to explore Chicago and the Kimpton was perfect. It is centrally located between millennium Park and the magnificent Mile. The location is pretty nice next to the river, and is within walking distance of a plethora of restaraunt and tourist attractions. The service is great, and all of the employees seem knowledgeable about the area. The room is a good size, with a clear space to setup a yoga mat that comes with the room. My only complaint is having too look at Trump tower out my window, but that is not a problem with the hotel.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff was polite and helpful. The room was also very comfortable. I had ordered from the restaurant attached to the hotel and they forgot to bring my breakfast to my room. Everyone from door holders to reception desk are friendly and helpful. Rms are clean but could us uplift like Wood looking plank floors instead of carpet. Carpet tends to get soil ease from constant traffic. Love the 5-6 wine and appetizers. Also, the $10 filled refrigerator credit is a rewarding item. Kimpton will match 3rd party prices so get price then call them to make reservation. You get the $10 drink credit and awarded stay credit towards future stay.

I struggle with this review because this is by far one of those cases where I wish I had the ability to choose a 3.5 star rating.

The hotel itself was nice. It was clean. It was different than your usual Marriott, Hilton, Westin chain type Hotel. It had its own look. A look that crossed between Old Chicago and old Bordello.

The room itself, king size bedroom, was large. The bathroom too was large. I did find the bed quite comfortable and the pillows as well. Extremely important for me.

I do have one major complaint though. When I'm in a hotel room, I prefer it to be cool if not cold. No matter how low I turned the thermostat down, the room never seemed to get above moderately cool. In addition to that, the room felt very damp. I was on the 10th floor, the windows don't open, I did not expect that. After the first night, I did contact the front desk and they said they would have somebody take a look. I never heard anything back from them and over the 8 night stay that I had there, this never changed. However, this is really the only bad part that I can say.
Would I go back? This too, is a difficult question. And in a city like Chicago, where your hotel choices are almost limitless, it makes it difficult for me to say yes. So, on one hand, yes I would return if the opportunity was there. However, I don't think I would go out of my way to seek it out when I visit again.

In town to attend a youth football tournament. The tournament sucked but the best part of the trip was the hotel and the staff. Really nice, modern clean rooms. The staff at this location we're always smiling and willing to assist you. The interior was clean and well-maintained in our room. In the lobby there was water and unsweetened iced tea available for guests. They also have bicycles that you can use to bike around Chicago.

There's a free happy hour between 5 and 6. The only the tracking thing during our experience was we found cobwebs buy a corner and they immediately took care of it once they were told. We told them on our way out the door and they were on the phone getting cleaning to come down and deal with it right then and there.

I have stayed at Hotel Monaco in San Francisco and loved the experience, so when I was looking to reserve a room in Chicago and saw that Hotel Monaco was an option, the choice was easy! I love this hotel! Its charming and unique and the location is terrific. The entire staff has been incredibly professional and welcoming (Erica greeted us at the front desk - extremely friendly and helpful). They have spoiled us, I had mentioned that my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary in the notes section of the reservation, thinking that they will probably ignore it like most hotels do - but NO! They took it to heart and provided us with the perfect room with a river view and bubbly treats upon arrival.

There is nothing typical about this hotel, from the super clean rooms and sassy decor to the leopard/zebra bath robes, this hotel is unique in every way. They also offer a friendly companion for your room, where else can you request a goldfish?! "Charlie" has made our fun room even more homey. I will never need to look for a different hotel when coming to Chicago again, I have found my go-to stay!!
