LEED Gold

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) standard, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), recognizes best-in-class building strategies and practices. It certifies that green buildings meet standards of energy efficiency, conservation, and community sensitivity.

LEED-certified buildings reduce energy and water by as much as 40%. LEED-certified buildings save resources and have a positive impact on the health of occupants while promoting renewable, clean energy.

USGBC's rating system has four levels: Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Green Building Councils in other countries have similar programs.

Green Key Eco-Rating Program 4

With more than 1,200 hotels certified in Canada since its inception in the 1990s, the Green Key Eco-Rating Program awards hotels an environmental rating of one to five Green Keys. Green Key members are then given guidance on how to "unlock" opportunities to reduce operating costs and environmental impacts - and in turn earn more keys.

The Green Key audit looks at nine major areas of sustainable hotel operations:

We stayed here one weekend just to explore our city and had a lovely time. The decorating is so fun to look at and explore. Our room was large, comfortable, clean and had all the amenities you could want. Ordered room service late in the evening and it arrived quickly. Hotel connects to the Red Owl Tavern where breakfast is served each morning. Within walking distance of all the historical attractions that make Philadelphia such a special city. Horse and carriage rides are right outside the entrance. Staff is friendly, helpful and courteous. We will definitely be booking again for another weekend getaway.

Very nice views and colorful decor. The hotel room was very clean considering the wear & tear of the room, the super cute spacious bath tub was the highlight of our stay. Parking (not free) it takes 30+ minutes for them to retrieve your vehicle so text in advance. Breakfast (not free) WIFI (not free) Snacks in room are OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced (not free). If your looking for one time experience this would be a recommend.

This hotel's location is wonderful. Located right in historic center city Philadelphia. The hotel itself was very well maintained, beautifully decorated but what really made our stay was the southern staff. They were very attentive and the made us feel at home and welcome.

Beautiful hotel. Our room was lovely and the complimentary champagne at check-in was a nice touch. The young lady (Davida?)who checked us any was very welcoming. The location is wonderful as well. I'll stay here again.

Spectacular design! I have to admit, I was never a big fan of art but this Design is so special, I couldn’t ignore it!
On my first day here, so far excellent service and very clean. Very nice staff

The Kimpton had a beautiful reception hall and the rooms were phenomenonal. It was a perfect place to bring my whole family; dog included. We got a dog bed and bowls for our for legged child and a great crib for our baby daughter. The concierge was always helpful and they had complementary drinks throughout the day. Plus, you could see Independence Hall from the window. It was a perfect location. The only downside was that parking was pricey. I would definitely recommend this hotel, especially to pet owners.

The hotel is very nice and whimsical. It's very dog-friendly and there are treats at the front desk. Our room had a light Alice in Wonderland theme. I'm not sure if all of them are themed. I stayed in a corner room with a king sized bed facing the Liberty Bell. There was an amazing soaking tub in the room. Overall, the decor was playful and my experience was great. There is a night club within as well. Judging from the line up in front, it seems popular.

Clean room and friendly staff. Very close to several historical sites. Across the street from Independence Hall and Liberty Bell. One block from subway stop as well. 24 hour room service available although we didn't use it. Only complaint was that the shower did not have much pressure and also didn't have a door. This just caused water to splash on the wall and floor. Doors and walls were thin too. Could hear people coming and going when the door closed. Do not regret staying here at all.

Very, very nice hotel. The staff at the hotel or very, very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are always clean here, and spacious compared to most hotels. The location of the hotel is outstanding, as there is a lot to do in the area. Getting in and out can be a bit tricky, but there is valet parking.

This hotel is so much fun! The decor is so different than anywhere else I've ever stayed. It's in a great location right by Independence Hall and there is plenty to do in the area. The suites are also large enough for a wedding party to get ready!

This is an excellent hotel! We stayed the weekend for our 28th anniversary and everything was perfect. The room was clean and very pretty (love the eclectic decor!!) The staff is attentive and friendly and we loved the complimentary happy hour in the "living room". You can't beat the location of this hotel as our room overlooked Independence Hall and so much is in walking distance. To top it off, the Red Owl Tavern and Stratus Lounge are excellent. Can't wait to go back!

Most of what you pay for here is location. The overall decor is great, but the rooms not a 5. The rooms were nice but small. Unfortunately some of our pillows had visible dirt and stains. They also seemed a little understaffed, it took about 45 minutes to check in and multiple times during our stay when we dialed 0, we got no answer. Expected a little more for the price.

The best hotel experience I’ve ever had, beats Ritz Carlton any day! Sam Jung at the door remembered our entire family’s name, got us everything we needed, gave great advice, even brought us some wine to our room (at no charge!)!!! The amazing lady at the fest let us check in two ours early and gave us a ridiculously cool room. Honestly, our stay was 100% flawless, I would not change one millisecond about it. This has been and will be my favorite hotel in the world, and I’ve been to many!!

Aside from the fact that there was a dead body found according to the news. The staff was on point. Dan the doorman showed commitment and professionalism. He needs to get promoted or a big raise. I can't get enough of the light fixtures and the details-decor of this hotel. Best light fixtures I've ever seen in all the hotels I've stayed in. Also very clean and doesn't smell for a hotel that allows pets. I would definitely stay here again.

Great stay during graduation week. Rooms quiet and adequate in size.
Asked to change rooms due to hardness of bed...no problem.
Had to ask for coffee maker.
No tub in many rooms if that’s an issue.
Great location... handy to history walks.
Desk courteous.

Can't say enough good things about the Kimpton Monaco! Excellent staff, beautiful hotel. Spent part of our honeymoon there. The breakfast is amazing! The only issue we had was with the valet parking being a bit late which caused us to lose money on our rental car. But the hotel fixed the situation! They gave us the $50 back for the valet parking, which shocked me. Very great service, particularly by Kayla! Thanks to everyone at the Monaco! Highly recommend. Valet parking employee Sam was cool too, talked about the Sixers. Lastly, amazing location. Would I stay again? Absolutely.

We went to Kimpton to meet our cousins for a wedding and we did not have the perfect stay.... the room is fine and good, but the restaurant is horrible. We found eggshells In the eggs in the morning and to get a muffin it’s 4$ and more ridiculous priced meals too .we don’t mind that it’s expensive....but the food should be more than average if it’s that much. On the last day, we switched to a different , more comfortable stay,,,,,,,do not go here because the only thing fun is sightseeing.

Spent this weekend at Hotel Monaco Philadelphia. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and everything one would hope for in a boutique hotel. The staff is extraordinarily friendly, helpful and accommodating. The rooftop bar was spectacular for relaxing and having a few drinks. The room was elegant, spacious, spotlessly clean, and well appointed. When traveling to Philadelphia, I will only stay at Hotel Monaco.

I recently attended a wedding at the Monaco and it was a beautiful affair. The ballroom and rooftop bar were absolutely gorgeous and even though it was January, the heaters outside made the rooftop deck accessible! The drinks were fantastic and all of the staff were very nice and accommodating. Wedding food doesn't have the best reputation, but the beef short rib that we got was absolutely fantastic. It was a beautiful night in a beautiful venue!

I have stayed at Kimpton's all over the U.S. and Hotel Monaco in Philadelphia is my favorite. I am slightly partial because I had my wedding reception there but beyond that have come back for a weekend getaways from time to time. During my most recent stay I was celebrating my birthday and the staff sent up a bottle of champagne and two of the most delicious cupcakes I've ever had. They didn't have to do that, I didn't expect them to do anything when I mentioned it was my birthday while making the reservation, but they went out of their way to make me feel special anyway. The rooms are excellently decorated, the amenities are exceptional, and the staff is the best around. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Monaco in Philadelphia or any Kimpton Hotel if you have the chance.

Beautiful hotel, with an eclectic vibe.....only steps away from liberty bell and all museums!! Pristine, nice size room, comfortable for two. Nice size closet and bathroom. Check in was a breeze. Valet parking 50 dollars daily. No matter how many times your in or out. Great price for the location!!!

Amazing location, beautiful building, great customer service. Unfortunatel a few bad sides. Fish they gave my girl and I died within an hour so kind of a bummer to deal with on Christmas eve and the bed was rock hard and the pillows gave no support. Woke up with neck, back and shoulder pain. Because of the bed I will probably not stay there again. But if they changed the mattresses I would definitely give it another try.

Fancy hotel! The room is very nice, the restuarant was very nice too. I love this place. My only gripe is the valet was rather rude, he also takes a while but you can text in advance which was nice. Despite that I would stay here again. Cool decorations and clean.

It lacks some amenities, which is why I assume it's a 4 not 5 star. The room is small, but perfect for one person, or a couple. Stayed on the 10th floor in a king suite. Beautiful view of the independence park right across the street. The food was good. Overall satisfied with the results. Valet parking was nice and fairly quick, especially for the location, have no idea where their parking garage is but it only took ~10 minutes for my car to be picked up and dropped off

This is an amazing hotel. The staff was very friendly and the room was amazing. It was clean, well decorated, and there was even a good view if you looked outside of the window! I know not everyone would be able to get a good view, but it is a nice addition to the already amazing hotel. I would definitely recommend this to anyone staying in Philly - especially tourists. It is in a very convenient location.

Eclectic design, good service, comfortable amenities. Penthouse suite features vaulted ceilings, separate dining room, a large bedroom and two bathrooms. The hotel is an enjoyable venue for a celebration with multiple overnight visitors. Iconic experiences from mid-range to high-end. Unique rooftop lounge and bar for daytime and evening photos and events. Notable restaurant and bar on ground level. Conveniently located in Old City a half block from Independence Hall. Many nearby restaurants and points of interest.

Pros:
Exceptional location
Multiple dining options
Good for large groups
Caters to a range of budgets ($150+ per night)

An excellent example of Kimpton hospitality and style. The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of many of Philly's best attractions. The rooms are large, and of course come with all of the essentials, including atelier bloem (yes!!) products. The staff were excellent at suggesting off-the-beaten path places to check out, and offered nice selections for dining. The price is justified by the location, quality, and service. Highly recommended!

The room was absolutely beautiful and comfortable. The front desk people were also super friendly and tried to accommodate our needs. We needed to check in a bit early and when the room was available they texted us so we could settle down earlier than planned. The location is pretty much smack down in the downtown area and easily accessible to many different neighborhoods for exploration. Overall, a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend it.

Another fantastic hotel from the Kimpton family. Although each hotel is unique the excellence in service and quality is guaranteed. Location could NOT be better. The neighborhood is so lovely I opted to walk home from Zahav and could not have been happier. Feels like stepping back in time. The staff were wonderful-everyone from the valet to the front desk to the housekeeping staff was wonderful. Can't wait for my next trip.

Very clean hotel, spacious rooms, and superior customer service. A doorman opens the door and valet parks your car upon arrival - both very courteous. Entry is clean and open, but lobby is a bit tucked away through an open doorway on the right. Reception desk was staffed by a team knowledgeable of the hotel and area. We were warmly greeted and promptly handed keys to our room. Rooms were a perfect size for our family. King spa room was very spacious with a unique soaking tub and shower (see photos). Concierge was very helpful, offering advise for our stay duration and discounted admission to several attractions. Red Owl Tavern, connected to the hotel, offers a casual dining experience with good food and service. Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, and Visitors Center are all directly across 5th Street from the hotel – literally steps away. Just a few blocks down are other attractions including the Museum of the American Revolution (newly opened in 2017). A perfect getaway for our family!

I was there to shoot a wedding party recently. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Something I noticed just waiting in the lobby for my contact to get me. I have been to the Stratus rooftop bar in the past and me and my crew thoroughly enjoyed it. I had never been in any of the rooms until the photo shoot and the decor looked great. I only gave 4 stars because I have not actually stayed there being a local.

Conveniently located adjacent to Indepence Hall and the Liberty Bell and within walking distance of many other historical attractions and museums. Service is top-notch. Guests are given champagne upon check-in while the bellhop delivers their luggage to their rooms. Room service is prompt and attentive. The rooms themselves are clean and furnished with comfortable furniture and modern decor. And a lot of towels. The Red Owl Tavern on the ground floor offers interesting dishes and tasty drinks. There's no pool though. And they only have valet parking and it's $50 a night.

The rooms were clean and whimsical and the location was great. We were counting on the rooftop bar which turned out to be closed on Mondays, the only night of our stay, which was a bit of a disappointment. However, the staff was perfectly friendly and hospitable, and the room was so comfortable and non-generic, we have absolutely no complaints and will gladly stay at this location again.

Place is very nice , one of the best qualities is the people working here. They are friendly and very helpful even giving tips about the area and good Help ful advice about attractions and popular eating dives. The only complaint I have is that the windows are thin and you can hear the traffic, it's worse at night because you can hear people doing burnouts or reviving their cars down the streets. All in all I am enjoying my stay and love the welcoming staff at the hotel.

Loved this hotel. Room was very comfortable with delightful robes and little shampoos and soaps. Bed was very comfortable, as were the pillows. I LOVED the decor. Very bright and fun. The only part I slightly didn't like was the shower. No tub and the tub only had a half glass door, which meant the floor got fairly wet. Would 110% stay at a Kimpton property again.

We arrived to the Hotel Monaco for a wedding and quickly navigated around the Independence Mall traffic to the parking garage around the corner. The hotel staff was courteous and polite answering questions. The ballroom where the ceremony and reception were held was beautifully decorated, with the cocktail hour being held on the rooftop deck. The food was delicious and well prepared. Drinks were plentiful. Overall, we had a wonderful experience attending the wedding at the Hotel Monaco.

This hotel does not have one specific style but rather blends several together. The front desk and lobby area have comfortable, tasteful furniture, with one wall covered with various decorative paintbrushes ranging from small to massive. The 10th floor room I stayed in was well decorated, each wall having a mirror, a painting, or a large artistic wallpaper graphic. The bath area was luxurious, with a rather spacious tub.

The Monaco is superior to the Palomar just based on the decor and views available. Sure, the Palomar might be a little more trendy and convenient for business travelers, but the Monaco is the way to go of you're on vacation.

They let our dog stay with us and the room was absolutely gorgeous, overlooking an area over independence hall. Honestly, I'm from Philly and that view was still worth the price of admission.

So I woke up on a Friday morning and I get this story from my sister that is rooming with the other sister. She had the most delusional wake up call from her older sister in the room. To set the story straight the older sister was still awake already because, she couldn't sleep due to neck surgery and a constant neck brace she had to wear. The wake up story was when the older sister shook her awake and said: "if she had to pee that she should only walk on the yoga mat. " In her delusional state she had no idea what she was saying and could only think of the really old kids games when they were playing step on all the obstacles to avoid the imaginary lava. However, the end if that wake up call finished with "there is nail polish everywhere." Long story short the older sister got burnt by the sink water and pulled her hand away from the facet in the bathroom quickly enough that she knocked off a glass bottle of nail polish that shattered as it hit the ground. The floor and many other surfaces were covered in a darker nail polish color. Needless to say the staff was helpful and understanding and helped clean up this landmine of glass and polish with no extra charge. They did a great job at cleaning up the evidence but at least the story still resides.

One of the most awesome boutique hotel experience! My friends and I from Southeast Asia absolutely loved our stay at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Philadelphia. Great hotel! Had a great view of independence hall from room 304! Only reason I gave them 4 stars is because they tried to charge me for mini bar items I didn't partake of. But other than that, the staff and service we're warm and friendly.

The hotel gave us a very glamorous feel. We loved the hotel and the decor. The staff was very nice. I'm not sure if all of the rooms have this but the only thing we did not like was the shower/bathroom. It was a standing shower and there was no glass door. Water went everywhere and we could not understand why they decided to not put a glass door on a shower. My guess was to be modern, but it was just not efficient at all. The bathroom had a sliding door and it was right by the bed so not much privacy. Over all we loved the hotel, we love philly, we just hated the bathroom.

Really great hotel in an excellent location. Try to request a room on the Liberty Bell Park side, fantastic view of the park and downtown Philadelphia.

They have a free wine happy hour for guests seven days a week. You can't beat that!

There were plenty of dogs there, so I'm certain this is a pet friendly hotel.

A little pricey. Definitely not for budget travelers. Also, parking is $46 a night!

I have the fortune of staying at alot of hotels in the city and this is my favorite by far. It is a great location for sightseeing and you can walk to all the old city bars. This is our second stay at Hotel Monaco. We loved the hotel so much the first time we had to come back. Since our last stay we welcomed a puppy to our family and figured since it was pet friendly we would stay with them again and bring our four legged baby with us. While the experience was overall positive, the hotel was fully booked this time with lots of weddings and while the staff was great, especially with the pup there were a few areas (exchanging a comped bottle of red wine for a white that we would actually drink being denied by the concierge and a lack of the list of dog friendly area activities being available although I called ahead to verify that given the mention of that on their website) that could have been improved for a one night stay of over $500. Other than that I would say we would consider another stay.

Eccentric decor but a very comfortable and well equipped room. Only downside was the tolling of a bell every hour, even at night. If you're a light sleeper ask for a room on the other side. Free wine from 5 to 6 is nice but can be hard to get a seat.
Perfect location right alongside Independence Hall, Liberty Bell and the Museum of Jewish American History.

Quite an eccentric hotel with nods to local history in its decor. This hotel is perfectly located in Old Town, the historic district in Philadelphia. It's within easy walking distance of great restaurants like Buddakan and historical/touristy spots like the Liberty Bell. It's a beautiful hotel; customer service was great and friendly, from the doorman to the bell service, and the cleaning staff. The lobby and room was very clean and inviting. The toiletries provided are great (one's you'll actually opt to use). I'd stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent all around! Location, decor, customer service, restaurant, rooftop bar, doormen. I couldn't rate hotel Monaco high enough. The only negative thing I can say is it took vallet 27 minutes to retrieve our vehicle at 12:45pm on a Tuesday; however it is operated by Laz and not the actual hotel.

Staff was very friendly and attentive. Room was clean and comfortable. The overall appearance of everything is definitely designed to be playfully ostentatious. It was a very fun experience overall,, if we ever came back to Philly I'd definitely stay there again. As for location, you're right next to independence hall... So pretty solid in terms of a short walk...

It was a fabulous, eclectic hotel that was conveniently located diagonally from Independence Hall. Parking was sparse so we used valet which was certainly easier but expensive. The evening cocktail hour was a nice touch. We would return but probably leave the kids home next time as there was no pool.

Stayed here for a law school competition. The front desk staff was extremely nice and helpful. Not only were the rooms were very nice and clean, but I also need their interior decorator to decorate my house. Also, the fitness room, while not huge, was on the larger side of the hotel fitness rooms I have personally seen. Would definitely stay here again!

Hotel Monaco is THE ONLY place to stay in Philadelphia. The decor, service, & overall experience is second to none. As soon as you walk in the luxurious lobby, you will immediately feel like you are on vacation. Treat yourself to a deluxe one-bedroom suite. It is amazing. And-don't forget to do brunch at the Red Owl Tavern. We are already planning our next trip back!

+1 star for staff, very friendly, nice
+1 star for location, cannot be beat for the "heart" of Philly
-1 star for tacky pricing (blame management): $8 bottle of water next to the bed? "gotcha" charges EVERYWHERE
-1 star for style: shower has half a wall, decorations over-the-top at expense of quality

That leaves 1 star up in the air. Since I can't give it 2.5 stars, and I was there for a wedding and had a great time, I'll give it to them. If I had been on a business trip, this would probably have been 2 stars.

NOTE: Park yourself around the corner (less than 1 block walk) for $25/day instead of their $43/day valet (which I hear takes a long time, too).

I had room 302 which is directly over the Red Own Tavern and faces Independence Hall diagonally across the street - the room was amazing and the design elements in the room were spectacular. The bed and linens were extraordinary and the bathroom was huge. You could not be closer to history unless you were a part of the Continental Congress yourself. Being so close you avoid the hassle of getting around and can walk to everything in the Historic District whether it be the Liberty Bell or extraordinary restaurants - was great to venture out at night too because security is everywhere due to the historic sites and not because of safety concerns. The staff at the hotel are very attentive and accommodating and the only complaint that I can make is the cost of the overnight parking which exceeded $40.00 a night - not the hotels fault - just the cost of the area.
