Opal Sands was a nice hotel with great views. The entire staff, from the front desk, to pool side, to the restaurants, to the spa, to valet, all provided excellent service. A couple of downsides; they have guest pantries on each floor with ice, water, fruit & cookies, which they need to restock a little more often. There were a couple of plumbing issues in our bathroom. And most of the treadmills in the gym we're broken. But even all of those added together won't stop us from coming back. We'll definitely be back.

My boyfriend and I had gotten a hotel about 100 dollars cheaper than this one and we couldn't believe the difference. We stayed at our first one one night then found Opal Sands for the next 3 nights. It was so luxurious and incredible. The amenities are great... one of our favorite things was free bike rentals to ride up and down the sidewalk right next to the beach. The pool area is so great, we saw dolphins and manatees swimming just feet from the balcony on the pool! Also from our room balcony! I felt like I spent way more than I really did because it was so perfect. I will absolutely return to this resort both at clearwater and hopefully other locations!

Awesome place, free endless bottled water, fruit and cookies. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel's campus was clean and very modern. Our room was beautiful. Very Nice Place! I recommend it everyone. We'll come back again.

The Opal Sands was very nice! The staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel’s campus was clean and very modern. I really liked the guest pantry. I wish that they would have kept it stocked throughout the day, but it was very neat. My room was beautiful. I loved the floors and the layout of the space. The bathroom was beautiful and I enjoyed the plush robe. Very Nice Place!

I was in town from Missouri for my brothers wedding which was held at the resort. The views are breathtaking from every room since they are all ocean view! I recommend a corner room, we stayed in 901, because they have the wrap around balcony, complete with rocking chair to watch the sunset! All the things you would expect to pay more for at a nnormal hotel were all complimentary. I would love to stay here again!

Service was great. Front desk clerks were accommodating and patient. Loved our couples massages! Breathtaking "cruise like" view of the ocean from our room which we could see from inside the room. Large oversized balcony. Watched the dolphins play in the during the day from our balcony. Nice pool. We will definitely return.

My husband an I live in Florida and we just wanted a nice get away from our town. We choose Clearwater fl. What an amazing trip!!!!! We have stayed in a lot of nice places in our travels together. This hotel was wonderful, from the amazing spacious room with a spectacular view of the ocean and gorgeous white sand, we saw dolphin swimming by every morning. to the restaurants on site had great food and great service. The pool was gorgeous and every single staff member employeed at this resort was kind, very welcoming and helpful. If I could give this resort a 10 star I would. One of the very best places we have stayed at!!!!! WE WILL BE BACK SOON!!!! Thank you to Opal Sands for such a wonderful experience! 🏖🐬🐠🌝🍹🏝💙

The resort is beautiful and the scenery is to die for, I got married and had my reception here and fell in-love with the place. Sea-guini has amazing food as well, a bit pricey so for a nice dinner for 2 expect to spend at least $100. In the end it's all worth it everything is superb

I absolutely LOVED this hotel more than any other I have stayed at! The photos of the rooms online are precise! The view- unimaginable! I saw a manatee from the 8th floor! Incredible! The staff is so friendly and polite. The beach is glamorous. The food is delicious. The prices for the rooms are not bad, but for food- really expensive. The pool is gorgeous and plenty of lounge chairs for everyone. I was not a fan that the pool only went 4" deep, but still lovely. The hot tub, gorgeous but closed several times. Not sure why. I am posting lots of pics. Amazing getaway, and lots of shopping and things to do nearby! They accommodate large crowds! The reason I gave 4 stars- I HATE dirty windows and glass. The glass on balcony was not cleaned well, and same for shower doors. Fixtures in rest room were loose and needed tightening. While that was the ONLY thing that irked me, it did not take away from the experience. Loved my time at Opal Sands!

Our experience was amazing at Opal Sands. Upon arrival staff was very welcoming and friendly. As being first time guest a front desk clerk gave us a quick tour of the hotel/area and another employee was kind enough to give me tips on what there was to do and phone numbers of places to call for reservations such as dolphin cruises. They have endless fruit/cookies and water bottles which came in handy for our kiddos running around and the in room breakfast was amazing. Clearwater overall was great. Clean beach and surroundings, a perfect family atmosphere. You can clearly tell that Opal is one of the newer establishments and so worth it to stay in considering the view. the other hotels near by cant top the new establishment + View + Pool + Food!

Every room view is perfect. Great stay for a week or a one night get away.! Located on the voted #1 beach of clearwater in the USA!! Married here, honeymoon here. Staff is friendly and attentive! Leaving is the only disappointing part of our stays here!! 😁

Gorgeous stayed two nights. Stylish resort at the end of a very long white sand beach. Every room faces the ocean so the sunsets are perfect from your balcony. We used the pool and hot tub on premise and enjoyed several cocktails with Nick at the pool bar. Highly recommended experience.

The facility and staff are very nice. Everything was clean, and well-kept. I went for a wedding, and they served delicious food and had a beautiful outdoor space for the wedding. It was very windy, so my curled hair was blown straight. I'm not really sure if the DJ was provided by The Resort, or if they brought their own. He was wearing a suit and his music selection was not very good. He kept killing the vibe on the dance floor. I'm fairly certain he was provided by The Resort, so I would hope that they get a DJ with better sense.

What a great location on Clearwater! The service is great, breakfast is good quality, almost all rooms have a ocean view and the pool and bar view is just stunning. We were watching dolphins while having drinks at the bar. Concierge service could do with a bit of improvement other that, i highly recommend the hotel to both families and couples.

Not sure how these reviews are so positive. It is an okay hotel, if you like crowds and fighting for a chair by the pool. The view is great, but the beach belongs to everyone so you still have to wake up at dawn to get a chair and pay around $50 dollars to get a cabana and three chairs. Much of the rooms overlook a loud parking lot so it is hard to enjoy the balcony views when you have cars, crowds and music below. The beds are so uncomfortable, any Hilton Chain is so much better. I called down to complain about the sofa bed, a glorified cot, and when I told them there was a metal bar in the middle of the bed, they replied, "that is just the way they are made." The wait staff was really was nice and friendly, but you can't even wake up and get a cup of coffee for free...again even a Double Tree does that. I really appreciated the wait staff who seemed to know how over priced the food was, and allowed my older son to order off the kids menu. Also, don't listen to any of the staff's suggestions for restaurants...they just want you to eat in the hotel. The places they sent us were terrible. Lastly, there is thumping music playing in the hotel lobby, by the pool, even in the bathrooms from dawn to dusk...if you like to read and relax by the pool, this is not the hotel for you.

I almost don't want to give a good review, because then others will know how great this place is and the demand will continue to rise. Love the scenery, love the floor-to-ceiling windows. Stay the weekend and walk around trying out the various local faire. Even if you live in the area this is a great place to "get away".

Beautiful rooms and views of the ocean. This hotel is perfectly situated at the end of the white sand beach in Clearwater. I would not hesitate to stay here again. A more expansive room service menu would he nice, but with so many restaurants within walking distance, that is not a dealbreaker.

amazing hotel, excellent service, beautiful modern, clean and comfortable rooms. Hotel's restaurant is excellent! Here we had the tastiest food in Florida (we've already spent 2months in Miami Beach). it is right on the beach, all rooms have a view on the water and the beach.

What a beautiful place! It is so worth just walking into. Big, spacious and lovely. You will be located right on the famous St. Pete Beach with it's beautiful white sand. There is a gorgeous pool and a fabulous deck area. It is so nice to be within walking distance to everything! The whole experience is amazing!

Sandbar restaurant inside.Opal Sands: I Googled the best restaurant to view a sunset in Clearwater and, let me tell you, I was not disappointed at the Sandbar! Gorgeous!!! Beautiful beach front seating with a perfect view of a sunset. Peaceful waves splashing on the rocks a mere few feet from your feet. Food was good as well. I'll definitely go back!

Room was great. Stayed for a work conference. Easy access to beach and many restaurants. snacks and water on each floor such as bananas, coomies, apples and oranges were really nice. Parking and maintenance fees will sneak up on you and show on your final bill.

Very unique beach property, with waterfront that breaks directly outside the back of building giving all rooms a spectacular view of the ocean. Standing on balcony feels a bit like being in a cruise liner. Food is excellent. Banquet food exceeds other properties by a long shot. Have been here 3 years in a row for convention and we are always impressed with how consistent and delicious the food is even when serving very large groups.

This resort is the nicest place I've ever stayed. They have refrigerated water on each floor which was nice. The cookies weren't anything special. The rooms are nice and all the amenities here are also very nice. They have many pillows on the bed so you can choose the level of fluffiness you want. WiFi is kind of spotty though. Overall, I would gladly return. The place is not cheap though, be prepared to spend some coin.

Very nice and elegant hotel. Staff super friendly and a great place to have a conference. Modern amenities like RFID key cards, LED recessed lights in rooms, large flat screen TV show (estimated 40-50") and key card activated lights (never forget to turn them off) ac shut off with sliding door and stunning balcony views with glass railings. Worth the price, but more of an adult hotel as their are few kid centric amenities.

This was my second visit to the hotel. All of the rooms have a balcony and view of the ocean- which was amazing - and the staff are always professional and courteous. PRO: Love the 'eco' light features of the bathroom. CON: Wish there were recycling bins in each room as plastic bottled water is a standard amenity (the in-room literature states there are recycling bins throughout the resort but I haven't been able to find them in any of the public areas) and human nature is for people to forget or to not recycle due to inconvenience.

First time I went for a dinner which was excellent. The second time for my friend's wedding. Also excellent! This place offers a great venue for weddings and special events. They have a really nice place where you can see the sunset next to the pool and also have a ceremony on the left hand side. Note: parking can be expensive. I paid a flat rate of $15 plus gratuity for valet service.

This hotel is ahhhhmazing! I loved every little detail: from the friendly hotel staff who checked me in and who worked the floors, to the free courtesy food pantry (stored with complimentary water, and fruit during the day, and cookies at night), to the sunset views from my balcony. Some other awesome features to note are the fact that the AC automatically resets to 75° when the balcony for is opened (energy saving feature) and the complimentary chocolate and water left in my room on my last night. Even the restaurants were amazing (there are three!) I highly recommend a visit to this wonderful resort.

We came down for our honeymoon and had the best experience! When we got there we had reserved just a regular king room but because they had the extra availibility they gave us a suite for free! And gave us Complementary wine and chocolate for our honeymoon. The customer service was excellent. The views were breathtaking. The only bad thing we had to say was the restaurants at the resort are expensive (to be expected) and you HAD to use valet parking. Other than that we had an amazing time. We will be back!

Your staff and you managed to go well beyond our expectations. Service was great at the bar and pool. Coty is a fantastic bartender and went over the top to help my wife and I enjoy our experience. Best fish tacos I've had in years! On the other hand, room service was basically non existent this weekend. Must have been short staffed. Other staff all around made up for the room not being cleaned. Will definitely be back.

Great vacation experience. Nice, new, clean facility. Rooms were quiet and well maintained. Housekeeping upon request to fit your schedule. Staff is wonderfully friendly and helpful. Pool is not overly large, but is zero access at one end and steps at the other which is great for children and is also completely shaded in the mornings. Hot tub is clean and well maintained. Had a great week. No complaints.

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS HOTEL! BEST STAFF EVER! I had an issue with my reservation that I purchased through a travel company. The manager, Alexandra, worked with me to resolve the problem. She was kind, patient, and made it right...even better!!! Jennifer was the first person I spoke with and she was AWESOME as well. WHAT A GREAT WAY TO START OUR VACATION! One of the newer hotels. Not cheap but everything is nice. Limited pool and hot tub hours, but free cookies, bottled water, apples, and k-cups every day. Mandatory valet parking ($25 a day, even if you don't use your car). Mandatory bellhop if you want to use a cart to take your things to your room (of course you're supposed to tip them). Room service was great but not cheap. Everything is 21% more expensive plus $3 delivery fee.

Opal Sands is a beautiful resort. We stayed there for four nights. The valet folks and housekeepers were very kind and welcoming. The overall resort is kept very clean. On the first two days we visit, the pool was closed for maintenance, but we didn't mind. The beach is literally at your doorstep. It gives the most beautiful view of the Gulf Coast. There are so many things to do in the area, you do not need to drive. If you have picky eaters in the family, there is a McDonald's right across the street. I would honestly recommend this resort over any other one in the area if you can spare a few more dollars. It's beautiful, clean, the people are genuinely kind and I definitely would book with Opal Sands again. Thanks Opal Sands, for making our first stay in Florida a beautiful experience.

Opal Sands Resort went above and beyond to make my stay here the best it could ever be!! The staff did everything we needed in a timely manner and were very kind and respectful. Above all, they had a phenomenal chauffeur service!! My boyfriend and I had the wonderful opportunity to ride with Peter. Him alone made the stay here a memorable one! He was very kind and friendly. Gorgeous hotel and pool. Large, clean, modern rooms. The view was spectacular, service was excellent. The only negative was not telling you a $25 valet fee per day as well as a, mysterious "resort ammenity fee". They removed it when I questioned it, but look over your bill carefully..

You be the judge, the hotel and rooms were fantastic, the staff always friendly and the bed was amazingly soft. The pool at night is beautiful with all the colored lights and tiki flames, my gripe is the hidden fees or fees in super fine print. There is a 25.00 fee to park per day, never stayed at a hotel as a guest that I had to pay to park, I guess they want you to walk to hotel. Now there's also a 25.00 pantry free. On every floor there is a small room that they put fruit in the morning and cookies in the afternoon. It's also where they have ice, except our ice cooler was broken so was told to go to another floor and take ice from there. The refrigerator or should I say small pull out draw cooler was broke in our room. Called for maintenance who came and turned it up, which didn't fix the issue. So to get a cold drink had to go to another floor and get ice to put in glass to have a cold drink. Even though this is a beautiful place, I wouldn't stay again for the extra 50.00 a day in fees I could of had a nice dinner somewhere. Oh if you get drinks at the pool be prepared to fork out 12.00 for a frozen drink in a 6oz glass.

This is our second stay at Opal Sands in the last 12 months and this stay is as good or better than the last. The rooms are clean, modern, and comfortable. The views are unparalleled. The staff are extremely friendly, going out of their way to make sure that your stay is enjoyable. They shuttle the bags to your room. They park your car. They leave notes and chocolates welcoming you back (if you have stayed there before). This year we found that they now have a Rolls Royce to shuttle you around Clearwater... amazing! There are several restaurants nearby with great food so you will never need to get the car out of the valet garage if you do not want to. When the beaches are too crowded with tourists and locals, just head to the Opal Sands pool where it is a little calmer, but still close enough to the ocean to hear the waves lapping the shoreline. I have read some complaints about the small coolers in the rooms, and I would agree that they are basically useless as well, but the excellence of the hotel in other ways more than makes up for the cooler. I think we would have regretted staying at any other hotel in the area, even though there have been a few other new hotels pop up in the area that are trying to compete. Nobody at Clearwater has the location, service, and ambiance that the Opal Sands does!

Opal Sands is our favorite spot to go on Clearwater Beach! Between the downstairs tiki bar, poolside bar, and inside restaurant you have plenty of food/drink/atmosphere options. The pool offers fantastic beach and sunset views. It's also an easy walk downstairs to the sandy beach. Plus, it's important to note that the pizza is beyond delicious!

Do yourself a favor and stay at Opal! I don't just throw 5 stars around. This is a magnificent experience. Right on the beach! Stayed here the 1st week of March 2017 for a work trip, but wanted to add some personal rest and relaxation to the trip. It was perfect! Flew into Tampa and rented a car. I needed a car for business, but if you don't have to leave or visit anyone you do not need a car. a $60. cab ride gets you there and they have this AMAZING Rolls Royce "shuttle" to take you where you want to go! Peter, my driver, could not be a better human being. Thank you so much for the conversation and suggestions. The room is so sweet! Dolphins (at least 10) can be seen from the room balcony right in front of the hotel swimming and playing. The staff is so accommodating and really want you to enjoy your stay. Coming back here with the family no doubt.

Although the hotel itself is beautiful and the staff are helpful, I found the spa to be VERY lacking in customer service. I booked a massage there, and was told that the deep tissue massage would be good for my needs, but that many people couldn't make it through the massage because the pressure was too much. Nothing could have been further from the truth there. The pressure was akin to a very minimal massage to just rub lotion into the skin--nothing more. I was never asked by the therapist of the pressure was good...and if you are paying $135 for just 50 minutes AND an automatic 18% gratuity, they should be much more attentive to customer service. I also explained to the therapist at the outset that I had some particular areas where I would like focus on, and that request was completely ignored. At the end of the massage, I was told "that's the end of the service, I'll meet you in the hall with some water"...boom...done attitude. When I paid and found out that an automatic 18% gratuity was added, that added insult to injury (although my bad for not reading the fine print!). I also offered the suggestion to the person taking my money that the therapist should inquire about the pressure, and he just said "yeah, I'll let her know" as he rushed me out the door for closing. VERY disappointing service for an establishment like this.

One of the most magnificent hotels on Clearwater Beach. The Opal Sands is a true Resort and you will not be disappointed with the experience. Sitting on the very south end of Clearwater Beach you will enjoy beautiful sunsets in the evening with a nice view West and South down the Gulf of Mexico. The brand new building has an amazing two story lobby with a luxury spa just footsteps away from the front desk check-in area. If you are looking for the best in a modern beach resort. The Opal Sands will be the only stop you will have to make.

One of the coolest hotel rooms I have ever seen, and the view was the best I've ever had on a beach. Staff was really awesome and friendly. The restaurant could be better, but it's definitely not bad and there are plenty of great joints nearby.

I attended a Sales and Technology conference for my employer at Opal Sands Resort in Clearwater, Florida. The bedrooms and conference rooms were very spacious and well decorated. The food was spectacular and the overall service from the staff was quite above and beyond. This reseort met a complete 5 star standard

Newly renovated resort was gorgeous but during the week of Christmas there were absolutely NO activities, thank God for the breath taking views. It was so overpriced I refused to use any of the pay for facilities, including food. Do not be fooled by the refrigerator in the room ad. It is a very small drawer and they only leave two k-cups for regular coffee with the kurig in the room and lastly they are charging an additional $25.00 per day parking fee that is not made aware of before you check in. All in all, if you want to save a ton of money to spend on the excursions offered I would recommend finding another facility.

This resort is amazing! The rooms are new, stylish, spacious, and clean. The staff is friendly and they provide great service. So far my experience here is one of the best. I highly recommend this hotel if you are in Clearwater.

By far a great experience at the Opal Sands, such a definition of luxury, staff seem to have a passion for work like this, although I would recommend to have a more safeguard in letting non hotel members into the pool area. Very enjoyable 4 days, will be back soon! Hotel for young and old, just looking to relax! EAT AT SEA GIUNANI, great food, although pricey, but service matches.

Gorgeous views and amazing staff. Recommend for locals to stay even if for one night! Interesting cocktails, too. Must try the maple ice cubes in bourbon...quite sweet but good after dinner drink. Good food selection.

Beautiful resort. Came here in May 2016, three months after the resort had opened. My family and I enjoyed staying here. The staff was very friendly, especially the pool staff. I had a great pleasure getting to know Sharon. The restaurants were pretty good. The view from our room was phenomenal! My family and I loved watching the sunsets every night. I want to come back here again super badly. But I loved staying here and enjoy life away from home.

This is a first class luxury hotel. Grounds and building are spectacularly well kept. ALL rooms face the Gulf of Mexico, so there is always a beach and ocean view. Rooms are spacious and well furnished. Food in restaurants and room service is excellent. Staff is friendly and helpful. Beautiful hotel!

Excellent Resort for Adults! I am familiar with Resorts in Europe and the Opal Sands is up there! Your rooms and bathrooms are chic elegant. Love that all your rooms have private balconies looking over the Gulf! Beautiful Sunsets! My BFF and I had Massages and Mani-Pedis at your Spa and dinner at the Sea Guini was to die for. Chef made the best Lobster Bisque with Sherry Cream and the Diver Scallops were Half Dollar sized were tender and pan-seared to perfection. My Girlfriend had the Opal Salad with greens, pear, candied walnuts and oven roasted tomatoes. She also had the Gamberetti, which had had the largest Prawns I've seen yet in Florida. Kudos to Chef! The pool area is fabulous...we found it so calming and relaxing... the perfect escape for two frazzled adults. We had such a wonderful time and was thoroughly pampered by your staff..we will try to make it again next year! Sophia & Jo-Ann

Stayed for just one night and had an excellent experience. To start, we were able to get an early check-in. The pool area has beautiful view of the Gulf. All the rooms do actually because of the layout. We got upgraded to a suite and it was huge! Overall, the hotel is very clean, sleek, and modern which it should be as it's very new. Also, the service all around is top notch from the valet, bellhops, front desk, etc. Everyone was very pleasant. The restaurant, Sea-Guini, is excellent as well for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I'll do a separate review for them. The spa was also very nice and even well priced considering it's within a hotel. I would say the only "con" to the place is the limited pool area but then again, the beach is just a walking distance.

Fantastic hotel with amazing sunset views. Pool is great but gets crowded. Beach is public and packed with people.

Loved the room and the pool. Our view was beautiful. The guest pantry was a great touch. Only thing I did not like was that you had to valet your car, making it difficult to access to either get something we left in the car or make a quick errand somewhere. During the checkout rush it took nearly 30 mins to get our car. I would much rather self park and have easy access to my car when needed.
