This hotel is very classy. The front desk is very friendly, polite, and super helpful. Rooms are very nice, some have soaker tubs and stand-up showers. Very clean. Style is hip-modern feel with a touch of old school elegance.

A very classy hotel. I was given an upgraded room as an IHG member and I was very pleased. Very spacious and the bathroom was my favourite room. A very well equipped gym and in fact everything was classy. Staff was very helpful and very kind. I truly enjoyed my stay.

No complaints about the hotel. Most staff was friendly and courteous. Room was decent sized and comfortable. Only complaint was room service and in-room snack bar was a bit more expensive than similar hotels I've stayed at in the area.

Excellent staff, very considerate. Sarah at the front desk checked us in. She was the friendliest reception staffer I've seen at any hotel recently - a perfect welcome to Chicago. Everyone from the room service, housekeeping, to the doorman was exceptional. Thank you guys for making us repeat Kimpton guests. Sarah - thank you so much for the thoughtful gift! Besides the staff, the hotel is in an excellent location - short walk to Michigan ave and Navy Pier. The rooms are well appointed. While we didn't have the best view from our room, the pool and patio have perfect views, great to relax by the water or lounge around. Noise is a consideration, but to be expected being in downtown Chicago. Ambulances, firetrucks, and generally noisy partiers over the weekend. Great stay overall.

This hotel is in an absolutely great location, in downtown Chicago. It’s walking distance to many great restaurants and shopping. The bellmen are super friendly. When I was leaving one saw I had a lot of stuff. I planned on walking, and he insisted on me letting the driver that was just waiting, take me around the corner where I needed to pick up my car. Both men were very polite. The room was nice and all areas including the bathroom were clean. I also used the gym, which was pretty decent compared to other gyms. Additionally, the pool and terrace were nice as well. Though I never ate at the restaurant or grabbed a drink from the bar, both areas appeared to be fun places to dine at and have a drink. My only complaint would be that I called the front desk to make sure housekeeping made it to my room while I was out, since I accidentally left the do not disturb sign on the door. The lady at the front desk said she’d take care of it, but my room never got cleaned that day.

The hotel staff was such a delight to interact with. From pulling up in valet to the host at the front desk. I was just there to attend a conference but i am planning a stay here soon.

I spent one night at the Kimpton and everything was provided exactly as needed. The rooms were spotless and quiet. The staff is extremely helpful; the smoke detector in my room was out of battery and they came to my room to immediately change it. Nothing more I'd expect out of the stay.

First and only hotel we've been in for Chicago. The service is great, and location is amazing. The room is massive and beautiful. The gym is pretty good for a hotel gym. The food served is very good and if I were to return to Chicago, this would be the hotel. It's surrounded by nearby restaurants all over the place that are amazing and it's a short cab ride to many museums like the Art Institute of Chicago and other things.

We recently had a business meeting at the Palomar Hotel and had a great experience. The staff and service was great, especially Stephanie Adams the manager who accommodated our last minute requests efficiently and gracefully. Thank you and we'll be back for sure!

Gorgeous, large room (we were in a King Spa Room) with deep soaking tub in bathroom. Floor to ceiling windows. Quick, tasty room service. Front desk staff was kind and attentive. The location is amazing, it is so close to everything you want to see and do, amazing restaurants, and easy to get where you need to go via Lyft/Uber or train.

Really nice hotel. Lobby is tiny, but it is connected to sable's bar. Lobby does have a nice fireplace. Appears to have free wine that ends at 6pm. Rooms are big and nice. Has a pool and a decent hotel gym. In summer has a rooftop terrace on the 17th floor that looks nice. Solid 4 star hotel, would have no reservations suggesting others to stay here.

Didn't stay at the hotel but when in town I frequent Sable Kitchen & Bar located at the hotel. Don't get caught up that this is a "hotel bar". It's top notch when it comes to food and especially cocktails and spirits selection. Get in there!

An impressive hotel. Centrally located and within walking distance to all central attractions and also the subway. The welcome was warm and friendly the bedroom was warm & fresh. Rooms are a good size with plenty of room to work and move around. There a pool and gym located on the top floor. Overall a very good stay in a very good 4* hotel.

The hotel is centrally located and well serviced by transport and entertainment. Included in the hotel is a very comfortable lounge for social or business meetings and also provides evening drinks. The Sabre bar and dinner venue is professionally serviced and high in quality.. Should we be in Chicago again, and being professional travellers, we would most definitely stay again.

This hotel is gorgeous!! My favorite Kimpton property in Chicago. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms feature a stunning bar wood door with a mirror, huge showers, plenty of space to move about. The gym is really nice and fully functional for business travelers and there is a pool as well! Both are located on the top floor with expansive views of the city. Meeting space is lovely and flexible. The wrap around terrace makes such a difference. The chandeliers are my favorite feature.

Favorite hotel in Chicago - the people who work here make every stay absolutely special. I brought my mom here for a night to celebrate her final chemo treatment, and the kindness of the staff was so beyond what I expected or imagined. Love Kimpton hotels and this one did not disappoint. Friendly and professional staff. Start off with the valet welcoming us as though we were old friends. Next, we meet up with the desk clerk and she was super friendly and totally excited for why we were visiting Chicago. Our room was wonderful. Great style, very spacious and awesome floor to ceiling windows. Location is great too. We were a short walk or Uber ride from where we wanted to go. Will definitely stay here again!

Great hotel. Customer service was top notch, they upgraded my room to a bigger size for free because they were 5 minutes late with the room. Very prompt room service. They were very accommodating with special requests as I asked to leave my car at the valet parking after checking out and they were ok with that. The room itself was clean and great with a Jacuzzi. It also came with the usual stuff like mini bar, bathrobes, etc. Highly recommended!

Not a bad hotel, but I'm not sure there's the delivery on the price. Everything is fairly maintained, amenities are middle of the road. The cleanliness is something that can be improved on greatly. Probably the high point about this hotel is the friendliness of the front desk. All in all, I wouldn't pay this much to stay here again.

All I hear about is how great this place is and it's alright. I lived in SF and they have a few Kimptons there and I think there just average. I didn't find the bar service exceptionally friendly or knowledgeable. I wouldn't recommend this place to friends to meet.

I have been to the restaurant, Sable, multiple times. The menu is creative, and I have always enjoyed the food. However, it is the bar that makes this place special. They have an extensive collection of wines and liquors. The mixologists really know their craft and seem to enjoy what they do. When I can, I prefer to sit at the bar.

I was impressed by the staff and quality of service from the moment we set foot on the property. The valet service is slightly higher than neighboring lots - but the convenience was worth it to us. Our room was in a corner (ending in 01) and had a decent view of the city, with two corner windows facing south and east. The rooms have an abundance of electrical outlets to cover our needs. The sliding bathroom door was somewhat heavy, but not a problem for us to open or close, and the furnishings were all clean and in good condition. The hotel offered a complementary wine tasting in the afternoon which helped us relax after arriving. The staff was able to provide good guidance for a dinner location, as well as recommendations for routes to get around to various activities in the city. We also enjoyed the breakfast; the options were adequate, and tasted fresh. The only negative is the nearness of a fire department a block or two away, which you could hear sirens when they were called out. This wasn't a big issue to us, but light sleepers may want to get a higher floor or get a room without a south-facing window. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and the hotel will be our preferred choice on future visits to Chicago.

Hotel is located downtown. There are several restaurants within walking distance. A 7 eleven and grocery store within 2 blocks. The rooms are spacious. This hotel is perfect. The staff is amazing at every step of the way, to the valet guys, the opening of the doors, the server pouring wine during happy hour, and the front desk staff. We attended a fundraiser evening event. The discs was nice, staff was friendly, bar was nice. Had a few complaints. Bar tab out of assistant drinks 2 hours before they closed, good was rarely resupplied and there were no plates after an hour or so, then coat check line was long and they couldn't keep up with people. Great event space, but service was lacking in some spots

My family and I stayed here in January 2017 for a long weekend. The room and facility were everything you would expect from a hotel in the Magnificent Mile/River North neighborhood. However, the service was truly exceptional. They really went above and beyond to provide exceptional service to my wife, son and I. From the wait staff and chefs in the restaurant were great, Michael the hospitality staff taking care of our room really went above and beyond, and Blue the doorman was johnny on the spot with anything we needed.

I had a great stay at this contemporary and cool hotel. We came with a little dog and a cat and they are very pet friendly! The pool was clean and warm, the room was spotless and tastefully decorated, the bed was big and comfy and the view, (which you can enjoy through a massive window,) of the surrounding skyscrapers was beautiful. Receptionist was friendly and helpful. Had a delicious breakfast at the restaurant "Sable" downstairs. The doormen are funny and nice. I would definitely recommend the Palomar for any kind of traveler as the staff can make anyone feel at home.

Great hotel with very friendly staff. They have wine hour from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM and the day we were there they had pizza. We had issues with our thermostat the first night we were there and asked if they could look at it the morning after. It was fixed when we got back to the hotel. The location is great...it's in the middle of downtown and the train station is literally right next to the hotel.

We had an amazing stay, staff was nice and helpful, and the view from the room was beautiful. Pet friendly, swimming pool and bathtub was a big plus for me. The only downside was the room being too cold, without the possibility to crank it up, and without extra blankets/sheets. Will come again.

The location was good and easy to find. Just a slight discrepancy with checking in as check in was at 3:00 pm and our room was not ready until approximately 4:30-5:00pm, but the plus side to that was that were accommodated by a $50 credit to the restaurant downstairs. Also we requested and extra pillow and a blanket and they arrived immediately within 5 minutes to deliver. Overall good service.

I was there visiting a friend staying at the hotel. We were drinking a few drinks on the terrace in the top floor, and one of the workers told us we couldn't drink with glass in that area. He came back soon after with some plastic cups that we could pour into which I thought was great service. Overall, we had a great time!

This is a lovely hotel. Rooms are great. Free coffee in the morning on the patio and the wine at happy hour were a treat! Great donuts a block away which we brought back to the hotel patio- logistically, very helpful. It's in a great location. My kids (7&9) and I easily walked to Millennium Park. The pool was small, but they had fun. Cantina Laredo across the street was delicious. We will be back!

This place is the best. We had our daughter and son in law's wedding reception there in September. It could not have been better. We live in Kansas City so we thought the planning process would be stressful but that wasn't the case at all. Alyssa - the director of catering - was always a step ahead of us and was very responsive. She was the main reason we chose the Palomar in the first place. The food was excellent and the servers were great. We were at the hotel for the entire Labor Day weekend. The rooms and staff were top notch. If we had to do it over we wouldn't change a thing.

Where do I even begin to describe the WONDERFUL experience of staying at Hotel Palomar in Chicago. I am a huge fan of Kimpton Hotels and this one is no exception. Before I even arrived the concierge Mark exceeded every single expectation I had (and they were high to begin with.) Mark helped me plan some very special details of a surprise birthday trip I was planning to Chicago for my husband. He went in my opinion well above and beyond his job description to ensure my trip was perfect!! Major Kuddos to Palomar for employing the BEST of the BEST in concierge, Everything at the hotel was fabulous like you would expect to find at any Kimpton resort. The decor was amazing and elegant. The lobby like most Kimpton's was comfortable and offered awesome coffee and tea service in the am. I particularly loved the Iced lemon water every day. The front desk staff was so very friendly and helpful (especially Alexis) and literally bent over backwards to assist you with anything you needed. We had a City View King Spa room which was incredible!!!! The view was amazing, the spaciousness of the room felt more like an apartment then a hotel room....and that spa tub.....to die for!!!! Every detail of this hotel from the wonderful doormen to the attentive housekeeping staff is 5 stars all the way. I can't fathom for the life of me why anyone would rate this hotel less than 5 stars. Not only would I stay here again and again, I will certainly be recommending Hotel Palomar to all my family and friends traveling to the Chicago area!! And as a side note- if anyone from this hotel management happens to read these reviews, please take special note that your concierge Mark is a true gem. I hope you know what an asset you have working for your company!!

What makes a Great Hotel? 8/13/15 Does a great shower or a comfy Bed make the hotel great? My answer is No! An amazing staff that understands your wants needs and desires does. I had just walked 7 blocks dragging my suitcase and was truly weary, I was hot and tired and just wanted to take a shower. The Front Desk said my room was not ready, BUT he said I do have a room available its a upgrade be we can get you in the room now. I was so thankful and when they upgraded me for free I did not know what to say. I think i said awesome and thank you. They did update the Living Room its very Comfortable and they had Wine tasting for 5-6 pm which was a nice touch. The hotel also has this wonderful smell to it, i find it comforting and relaxing. Sometimes it the small things that make you comfortable. I don't know what Hotel Palomer did to find the staff they currently have but everyone from the doorman to the hostess at the wine tasting EVERY one was awesome! I am terrible with names but when I checked in the gentleman that helped me was shorter and had dark hair. The other guy was bigger? Any how again GREAT JOB! I know its hard to find good people, but hey you did it! The shower and the bed where great also! My original review 2013? The staff is very friendly and cheerful! They made my stay Fantastic. The reason I gave the 5 star rating was due to how friendly and helpful the staff was! The room was great my favorite thing about the room was the shower it has great water pressure! The pillows where soft the mattress was a bit firm but it was fine. The chairs in the room where not very comfortable but I suspect it was do to age. The living room is a great meeting area but not super comfortable. I love the location and staff! Insider tip sign up for the Kimpton InTouch loyalty program its free and it has a host of benefits : You Raid the Bar, we pick up the tab. Now you get to spend $10 ($15 in NYC) in your room's mini bar or at the restaurant bar, at every eligible stay And free WiFi plus other perks!
