We love our stay! The bedroom was spacious and comfortable. There is a coffee machine and a TV with a great choice of channels, lovely bathroom, lovely bed linen, robes, and towels. It is worth paying extra for a lake view because the view is stunning. Every staff member is so well-trained, they are friendly and helpful and put the guests' needs first. This place is highly recommended!

The experience was really great, and I think this hotel is the best and recommendable place to stay in this area. They have a complete package of service when it comes to its facilities, and the amenities are complete too. Also, the foods here are really good, and I highly thank them for that. Great work! Thanks for the great service!

I was not mistaken about choosing this Hotel for my night stay. I am lucky that I found this place right away. Great interior from the outside until the inside part! The dining area was spacious. The lounge bar serves good mixed drinks. The best of the best Hotel ever! Try their services and you won’t regret it for sure.

It's a boutique hotel. Very modern room. Everything was boarded up and closed. No gym or restaurant. But they are making the best of everything. Good precautions in place. No daily cleaning service but I liked how they brought me new towels in a bag... No contact. On a great street right next door to the house of blues. I would come back.

This hotel is absolutely fantastic! The service was phenomenal during our visit. The location is close to great restaurants which made getting food super easy and accessible. The rooms were clean and the view was great as well. HIGHLY recommend staying here.

The lobby has a cool atmosphere, starting with the oversized front door. The room is spacious; I appreciate the two separate rooms, the living area and the bedroom is separated by a door. The balcony in our room is a nice touch and the view it provides of downtown San Diego is spectacular. The pool and adjoining bar is a great way to relax and the service is impeccable.

Love the giant door at the entrance (although it makes getting in a little bit of an ordeal). The lobby is nice, didn't wait long even though there are only two desks. The wine hour is an excellent bonus as always at Kimpton properties. My room was a pretty standard King, a little bit on the smaller side but nothing I would complain about, and the bathroom was a good size. The surrounding neighborhood is mixed -- hipster donut place, some restaurants (open late), coffee shops, a big CVS, but also not someplace I would recommend walking around alone at night if you're not from a large city (which I am, but still felt less than safe with the men trying to talk to me on the street...).

Stayed in room 1210 with my wife and daughter. The room had a balcony, it was clean, and nicely decorated. We Forgot to bring several items i.e. headphones, toothpaste, and other products, the front desk was more than accommodating and had everything brought promptly to our room. The Palomar is by for our families' favorite hotel, and we regularly travel. We will be staying again several times this year!

I love all Kimptons but I'm not too fond of the area that this one is located in though it's not too far from the other Kimpton in downtown San Diego. If I have my dogs with me, it's nice that they are absolutely welcomed in any Kimpton hotel however, I feel so unsafe walking them around this hotel. Now when I was here for a show at House of Blues which was right next door, it was really nice to not even have to cross the street! Inside the hotel everything is sunshine and rainbows and the rooms I've had are just lovely. The staff is warm and welcoming, everything I've come to expect and appreciate, and look forward to when I book at a Kimpton hotel.

We stayed at the Kimpton Palomar for 4 nights and loved it. The rooms are very neat and clean, but tend to be on the smaller side. The amenities really made up for it. The games area (shuffleboard, foosball, and 3 old school game consoles), daily wine hour, pool area, and location were stellar. The best part has to be the staff. Everyone we spoke to was friendly, helpful, and seemed to love their job. Astrid went out of her way to accommodate us and her customer service was out of this world, she is incredible! We will definitely be back to stay, thank you to the Kimpton Palomar for everything! Astrid, Otto, Angelica, and Michael all deserve praise for what they do! Can't wait to come back.

Had a blast celebrating my Birthday and the 4th of July, the staff went out of their way to make our stay incredible! The room was gorgeous, and the bed very comfy, can’t say enough about the showers also! We were close to everything. Thank you again for an amazing memorable stay!

This was the view from our room! The staff was great! The rooms were clean and smelled fresh when we walked in. This is near the airport but we really couldn’t hear the noise! I enjoyed watching the planes! Also, they are pet friendly, I think, they are near a nice dog park! I wish I had known because I left my puppy with family when I could have brought her with me!

Location is central but the immediate blocks have a homelessness problem. Lobby and shared spaces have great interior design, with good amenities. Staff is fantastic in the hotel, less so in the joining restaurant. Hours for pool are strangely short and if you're here during the week the place is dead after 8p. Rooms are a more mixed bag. Everything you need is there but little issues like poorly laid out lighting, weak showers with temperature issues, and small TVs with terrible remotes really add to a sense of irritation. My room also faced a parking garage that beeps every time someone comes out, causing me to wake up early in the morning.

Great stay at the Kimpton a few months ago! While the rooms are a bit tight, they’re very modern and well laid out. Despite being in the heart of downtown, noise wasn’t much of an issue allowing for wonderful nights’ sleep. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.

Very nice downtown San Diego option. Downstairs restaurant is a high end Mexican street food style spot with a small menu; went there once and it was a little pricy but very tasty. Moddern interior design is classy and they have a free wine happy hour each night. The second floor has a pretty cool hangout area also. Room is spacious and comfortable, very satisfied with the beds. Bathroom shower is also phenomenal. Overall great experience.

I stayed here for 5 days for a conference and absolutely loved it! Great service! Very friendly and kind staff. Located in a very good place as well smack in the middle of downtown around 18 mins walk from Seaport Village and Civic Center. Also loved the wine and snacks hour in the evening which is supposed to be for an hour but always was more than an hour. I would surely come back and stay again!

Love this hotel. We have stayed at another Kimpton in Savannah and it was nice as well. Parking is expensive but the valet guys are top notch. The Mexican restaurant next door is awesome as well. We ate there every night (3) that we stayed. When we were down eating we went up to the mezzanine level and played some games. The homeless issue is bad in downtown. We won’t be coming back to this location even though I gave it 5 stars.

Was greeted with royalty by staff had a basic room check out the pictures for further, the only thing that they forgot to tell me or didn't tell me was that you need to have your room key card to access the elevator to get to your floor. The restaurant that shares with the hotel isn't so bad either drinks are definitely good staff is definitely friendly. Would definitely come here again probably upgrade my room next time.

Was there with my family. Hotel is not very exciting. They serve coffee, tea or hot chocolate in the morning hours in the lobby but they do not fill it up. Bathrobes are all of one size, extra large. No chance to get another one. Using elevators needs a room card but the card reader there is tough to operate. So usually you are fetched by anyone else before you could choose your floor. Shower heads were calcified, so we had to request a change.

Okay I've stayed in a lot of hotels in my travels around the world and I have to say I have never been so impressed with the service at this hotel. Phenomenal restaurant connected to the hotel amazing service staff going above and beyond to give you everything that you need. Perception is friendly and great willing to help you and specifically I'd like to call out the housekeeping staff which has kept our room in phenomenal shape day after day literally organizing to super fine details that I wouldn't do to my own house. The rooms are modern and Chic and have a balcony and the mattress is very comfortable. I will always be sure to check Kimpton Hotels at any of my destinations in the future they have earned my business. Let me State I have super high expectations and not only were these met and exceeded all at a very reasonable price.

Service was great! Location was nice for food. Rooms were okay. The killer was the sound carries from room to room. I had the pleasure of waking up to my neighbor snoring. Not what you want you spend over $200 a night on a room.

The room and staff were excellent! Room was clean and comfortable. There are daily wine tastings from 5-6pm and a taco window from 9pm-1AM. One word of warning is that parking is valet only and is $45 per night, so factor that into your cost calculations if you're budgeting.

Comfortable, clean well appointed hotel in a nice location. Very friendly and considerate staff. My room was somewhat small with a small tv but bedding and bathroom fit a luxury hotel. Almost a five-star but just a few of the "little things" missing.

Everything you've come to expect from a Kimpton hotel.

Staff was exceptionally friendly and cordial.

Room was smallish but not to the point of being a deal breaker.

Complimentary evening wine and sangria and morning coffee is a nice touch.

The location of the hotel feels somewhat seedy. As soon as we stepped out of the hotel, we were immediately accosted by a number of homeless people. That seems to be an issue throughout the entire district.

I stayed here for 2 nights on my birthday, and it was amazing. Being treated at the door, the front desk was very friendly, and I got two surprises delivered to my room for my birthday which was so cool. The room was great and also the view from the 17th floor!

Their attempts to be chic and modern have gotten in the way of their hotel operating functionally. Their shower is awkward. Bathroom door is inefficient. Everything looks stylish, but doesn't function too well. Their beds are very small. The sheets don't fit the small beds which is weird. For the price you pay, there's no free parking or wifi. The saving grace is that their staff is very accommodating and that it's a very visually appealing hotel.

Located downtown on the Northern fringe of the Gaslamp (tourist/entertainment) Quarter, this is a wonderful refuge from the business/convention properties further South. Though the area is still accessible from the Convention Center, it is more a part of the downtown business district, and a bit far from the Bay. The hotel features many of the trademark Kimpton attributes: great staff, evening wine and morning coffee in the common areas. A sweet stay.

Staff, food, atmosphere, and location were all top notch. The room was beautifully furnished and the view was amazing. Electronics are a bit outdated, and the AC vent was just a slit in the ceiling, seeming unfinished. The noise from the street while trying to sleep was a bit excessive, and this was from the tenth floor. The only option for parking is valet at $45 per 24 hours, though that is reduced to $30 if you have a hybrid or electric vehicle. Overall, the experience was a good one, and I'd definitely be willing to stay here again.

I love Kimpton hotels. This one is stylish, comfortable and fill of amenities (fruit-infused ice water, great food, pool). The staff is fabulous. My complaint for this location is that it's hard to get the valet's attention because the street is always so full.

We were there for 5 days for a conference and high expectations since it was a Kimpton and the Solimar was great. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed for remodeling so things were pretty sparse. Even the happy hour wasn't really up to par in a windy, chilly and cramped lobby. Maybe it was the remodeling.
Otherwise, facility was great.

If you have a family, stay away! The hotel is not equipped for babies, no changing trays in common bathrooms, no infants mattresses. The service in the front desk is pretty bad (which is not unusual for Kimpton's properties), and the breakfast was absolutely aweful.

Four of us stayed in two rooms from Nov. 7 - 11 and all 4 of us complained about the beds in room 804, 801, and 604. I was in 804 and had to move rooms after one night. We told the hotel the most important thing is your beds. This needs to change as we won't stay there again. The location was good, the rooms were nice and the food was great. Just the beds are awful!

I loved this hotel. We had a balcony and there is nothing better than sitting outside on the balcony with a fresh cup of coffee in the morning. We were within walking distance to everything. This is a great central location in the middle of the city. The room and bathroom looked to be updated. A great shower! I also like that they stock the shower with large bottles for shampoo and conditioner, when you travel light this is a plus. I will definitely stay here again!

The room was small but well equipped and the staff was very friendly. Plus they have this sweet giant front door (like 9' x 15').

I'm from Florida so it seemed like the price was a crazy high, but online it was by far the most value for our money we could find.

Booked through priceline.

Full disclosure - I've been to this hotel on multiple occasions and everything had been wonderful. The beds are amazing, clean floors and counters, and friendly staff. The last stay was less than stellar. The shower was filthy and the service (other than the always amazing Saltbox) was not great. We had planned on staying at the pool for a full day only to be told the pool area was closing for a private party at 2pm. What's more, the pool bar wasnt opening until said time. So, we had management send up someone to take drink orders (assuming there would be no service charge considering the circumstances) only to be hit with a service charge, mandatory gratuity, and a delivery fee for each of the 20+ mostly-peeved people who'd ordered. This is a major aberration for the Palomar. After 30 minutes of grumbling a very sweet assistant manager showed up and said all of our bills would be comped, but only after a ridiculous back-and-forth between patrons and service staff. I think all parties involved would've liked to have seen management step up earlier and be their usual, reasonable selves, but IMO *almost* too little too late. We'll for sure be staying at the Palomar again, but next time we see anything that doesn't resemble the requisite level of service we'll be headed to management as they're always there to make things right.

Breakfast was yummy. The chilliquiles were great, the bloody Mary was average but good. My husband had the smoked salmon which was good. Over all was above average, just wish the bartender was more attentive, otherwise was great.

Parking is a bit of a hassle, but that is downtown for you. 50$ valet is a bit much. The rooms are modern and comfortable. The only knock is that the televisions are small and far from the bed. The staff was super friendly and we even received complementary wine when we arrived. The bar is also very nice.

The location is great the hotel is nice the rooms are a tad small but its still nice! Unfortunately the pool closes at 8pm and we were looking forward to checking in and going for a swim because of the photos online of the pool at night. We checked in at 7:45. We didn't have time to swim. Although the swim deck is very nice along with the bar we did not have a chance to experience it which we were bummed about it still is a nice place. But I do not think we will be coming back again anytime soon.

First off I must let you know I am a huge fan of the Kimpton Hotels. We have stayed at several different properties and have never been disappointed. I will say that the staff here is excellent. Do not stay on the lower floors as you hear the sirens and loud banging noises. We checked in with Nikki who is awesome. After explaining to the hotel management that we had little to no sleep Astrid (one of the managers) was so sweet and understanding and wished we had called and let her know earlier. We are here on a short visit to see our precious little 4 month old grandson. Thank you Astrid for helping make our stay a beyond pleasant experience. Every guest, all the hotel staff have been such a pleasure. They went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful!! Thanks you Astrid for being an angel. :)
Even grabbed a little happy hour in the hotel and Nolan was a delight and such a great server! The burgers are amazing!

Great hotel and first class staff. They were extremely helpful with a room change. Nick Gillio the Front Office Assistant Manager went above and beyond to ensure a great stay. The room was spotless and tastefully decorated with a first class bathroom. Room service to Housekeeping was there at any time. Room service food was exceptional and served hot! We cannot say enough good things about this hotel. We will be back!!

Just book it. We've stayed in lots of 4 and 5 star hotels over the world. This one is one of the best. The whole building is designed beautifully, the distance to everything is great, and if you get a skyline view...wow. Exceptional service from valet to room. It really is a lovely hotel, anyone with complaints about it must be used to standards reserved for royalty perhaps. Or just unlucky. This is a beautiful well run hotel.
