Green Key Eco-Rating Program 4

With more than 1,200 hotels certified in Canada since its inception in the 1990s, the Green Key Eco-Rating Program awards hotels an environmental rating of one to five Green Keys. Green Key members are then given guidance on how to "unlock" opportunities to reduce operating costs and environmental impacts - and in turn earn more keys.

The Green Key audit looks at nine major areas of sustainable hotel operations:
• Energy conservation
• Water conservation
• Solid waste management
• Hazardous waste management
• Indoor air quality
• Community outreach
• Building infrastructure
• Land use

This hotel is great. It's in a amazing location and the staff is nice. The rooms are beautiful and homey. During my stay I had to sleep on the sofa bed and they could improve the comfort of those.

Always love staying at Kimptons. They're always quiet, clean, very modernly designed, and have great amenities. Breakfast would be my only add-on to the great stay we just had. Also lovely that they allow pets!!

Desk staff were attentive and courteous (Bruce at the front desk provided exceptional service). Rooms were spotless, modern, clean, and beds were very comfortable. The hotel restaurant was very good, drinks were overpriced though. Only issue was the cleaning staff who while friendly, kept banging on my door 3 different occasions even though I had the do not disturb sign up, it woke me me and was unnecessary. I stayed in room 1004 on 11/30 -12/2. I would stay here again.

Kimpton is a nice boutique style chain with hotels like the Palomar. Most of the rooms are large and comfortable. The hotel has a wine happy hour with free red and white wine between 5pm and 6pm. The mini bar has many adult beverage choices. Good food and nice staff. The beds are a little stiff. They do have a great pool, gym and yoga mats to stretch after a long meeting.

I was at the hotel for three nights to attend a work event, so I got a decentfeel for rooms and services. The hotel has a great modern vibe in both the common spaces and the rooms, which was enjoyable. The room itself was a little tight, but overall had everything I could have wanted during my stay including a personal robe and shampoo that was a bit better than the usual. The bed wasn't anything special, but neither was it uncomfortable. Additionally, outlets we conveniently located for your charging needs. Beyond the room, the staff was friendly and willing to help if you need something. The hotel location is great and the wine hour is a nice start before heading out for the evening.

Excellent staff, very glad we are IHG rewards members. Bruce at the front desk is the best. If he is there, your stay is impeccable. He takes care of everything. The room was huge. Complimentary cookies for the kids. Great location.

The Kimpton Hotel staff was accommodating of us and our two kids. The room was modern, clean, and spacious. There is a happy hour for guests with gratuitous wine. The concierge is energetic and friendly. The location is walking distance to a variety of solid dining options, including Thai, Sushi, Indian, and a French Cafe. Starbucks is also close if you prefer something you know. The location is a $10 Uber from the airport or from the Mall and the DC attractions. Would recommend to anyone.

Nice hotel, very comfortable and close to the city. The staff were very nice and willing to help. It is a pet friendly hotel, meaning that you will come across some dogs (bonus points for that). They also offer you dog toys if you have a dog staying with you....that is very nice.

Cute hotel~ Love the decoration. Every morning, they serve hot coffee & tea in the lobby for a few hours. The service is absolutely A+. There is always someone at the front desk if you have any questions. There is always valet guy standing by getting taxi for you. The room is clean and cozy. Walking distance to convenient shop or restaurants.

Location is right close to Dupont circle. The staff is super accommodating. I didn't bring deodorant, toothpaste, or a toothbrush, and they brought some up a few minutes after calling the front desk. I got a great deal for 2 nights. Definitely recommend.

Stayed for four nights in a large room with two queen beds and city views. The layout and decor of the room was nice and the views of P street were solid. However, we were a bit disappointed with several things about our stay. The room had a musty odor like a wet dog and the windows did not open making it impossible to get rid of the smell. The sink in bathroom did not drain well. Also, the windows were not at all clean on the inside, with layer of grime obscuring the view. Some of the furniture was also visibly dirty. On the last day, we left our bags with the front desk. When we returned to retrieve them, they were initially unable to find one of our bags and I noticed other guests having the same problem. We did eventually get our bag after about 15-20 minutes but were rushing to make our flight as a result. Overall, the hotel is decent but I would consider other options next time before booking this one.

I went for a company meeting. The hotel was fancy and neat. The bathrooms were clean too. The employees at the front desk were smiling and nice. Overall, their decor is appealing too. Some parts of the hotel were a bit dim and somewhat lonely, but in general, I had a good experience. People were nice.

My experience was over Memorial Day weekend. The staff was very nice and the room was beautiful! The pool was not open as promised on the website. I mentioned something twice to staff and the suggestion was that I walk to another hotel to use their pool. No thank you. I also talked to another guest outside of the pool that stated they were comped a day and their parking for the pool not being open. I was not offered this deal. We also paid an amenity fee but again, did not enjoy all of the amenities. Probably won’t stay here again.

Was in Washington, DC visiting a friend for a couple of days and to visit all the cool museums and history of America. I am glad my friend chose this hotel for us because it was in a prime location. The bed is very comfy and the room was very nicely decorated beautifully with the colors. And the good thing is you can’t hear your neighbors lol. It’s a very nice hotel not over the top but chic.

Perfect location - heart of the city. Plush luxury with great rooms (large, comfortable, cozy, amenities, ...). Polite staff always willing to lend a helping hand. The only con would be no breakfast included and the restaurant takes forever to serve and bill you. This could set you back if you're looking for a quick grab on your way out to a meeting.

The staff was acceptional to myself and my wife. The hotel is dog friendly which is a plus for us. Our room was very spacey, the bed was a king and comfortable, the bathroom was terrific. The only thing I didn't care for was the amount of pot smell in the hallways.

We were lucky to get upgraded and had sumptuous quarters in a property which seemed recently renovated and was in bet good shape. The restaurant and bar are well appointed and the drinks menu was well appointed. Friendly personnel throughout our visit, and the neighbourhood is great.

The hotel was very nice! Our room was huge and very clean. The hotel staff was very kind and friendly to us. The hotel isn't a far walk from the metro and near so many things to do in the area. I definitely had a great nights sleep in the very comfortable bed.

We loved our stay at the DC Palomar! The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating from the front desk to the valet to the bell hop to the maids. Can’t beat the free happy hour either. We had a huge room too. Will definitely go back our next time to DC!

This was a beautiful hotel with fort class service. The rooms were big, clean, and well decorated. When the front desk learned we were a couple of moms getting away for the weekend they sent up a bottle of wine and told us to have fun! I would highly recommend staying here!

We called ahead to make sure there would be no issue with a later check-in and we were told this was fine. When we arrived, our spa room I reserved in advance was no longer available. We were upgraded to a suite and the hotel comped our breakfast in the morning, but we were disappointed because the only reason we booked this hotel was for the jetted tub. We are looking forward to being transferred to the correct room this evening.

Very nice hotel with an absolutely excellent bar and bartenders! The rooms themselves are gorgeous and big, and at least mine included a lovely robe for use during the stay. The reception was very helpful when trying to find a bit to eat late on a Sunday evening. In addition, laundry service was easy to find nearby. Would definitely recommend!

I stayed at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar in Washington DC in January 2018 and found it to be absolutely amazing. The service was incredible; the staff did everything they could to go above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying our time there. All the employees were so nice and helpful. The room itself is very nice, luxurious, and in a great location. The views from the room are nice.

This is an excellent property in the Kimpton line. Service was always prompt and thoughtful. The facilities, including the gym, are top notch. Urbana, the restaurant, is a wonderful change from normally horrible hotel fare. The rooms are plush. I couldn't have been happier.

Good location, not far from DuPont Circle metro station. Hotel is pet friendly (did not have a pet with me, but there was water bowls available at the entry and on my floor, door hangers indicating there were pets in room, etc.). Room was generously sized, bathroom as well. I liked the full size toiletries in the shower. Bed was less fabulous, springs and lumpy, but the linens were very nice. I enjoyed the evening happy hours with wine and morning hot beverage options.

First impressions are key and it didn't feel like a 5-star experience when no one comes out to get your bag, especially when 3 people are standing there. Following this, the reception was extremely kind and helpful but once again we were left with the bags. The rooms were very large and the beds are extremely comfy, in the bathroom, there is the cost saving feature of large bottles that can't be taken; this isn't a huge deal but at the price small features count. Every evening there is a wine 'tasting' (it was more of free drinks rather than a tasting experience) which lasted an hour and was a great touch to the lobby. Having a 12-hour pool (8 am - 8 pm) was very good as the weather here is hot, to say the least, the 24-hour gym is excellent as it has everything you could possibly want.

It was OK. Room was nice, clean and I had lots of pillows. Bathroom was nice, well lit. Front desk agents were polite and respectful. So it was OK. But just OK. I guess I expected more from a 4* hotel than I should've. I was a bit underwhelmed because it was not noticeably better than the Springfield Wyndham which costs about half of what I paid (at a discount) here. Oh, and ladies, bring your own shampoo and conditioner. That which is provided is rough on the hair and takes out the moisture.

We were in Washington DC for our daughter's wedding over the Labor Day Weekend. We could not have asked for a more courteous and responsive staff from the moment we arrived in our car filled with wedding supplies through wonderful breakfasts with attentive waitresses and in the end carefully guided each step of our checking out and repacking our car for the trip home. This was wonderful service any hotel would have wished their staff provided.

We stayed in a Premier City View Queen Queen room and the room was HUGE. They bathroom was also gorgeous. I love staying at any Kimpton because the service is the best. The fitness center had lots of equipment and overlooked the pool area and was stocked with fruit. There was always lemon water available in the reception area and the wine reception from 5 to 6 every night was a great place to relax and speak to other tourists. Housekeeping was quick to bring me whatever I needed. The suggestion that I made was that there should be a 4 hour limit on the loaner bikes because they were are gone by early morning and people would have them out until dusk. If you get the chance, take out the bikes because it's a great way to see Georgetown or the National Mall and there are many streets with bike lanes in the area. I have stayed at several Kimpton locations and I think that this one was great. A bit further away from the National mall but it is a nice area with nice buildings and reasonable priced pizza, Indian food, burgers, Pho, liquor store, pharmacy and Sunday farmer's market all within 2 blocks.

Great chic hotel. This recently renovated hotel was a treat to visit. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were extremely spacious and the pool allowed the kids some downtime. The bar and restaurant were eager to please with great food and cocktails The Metro is just a few blocks away and several restaurants and coffee shops are close by. Being located in Dupont Circle places you in the heart of it all and easy transportation by POV or local mass transit.

The room is very nice, clean, and big. The bed is very comfortable and clean as well. The staff here is very helpful by giving directions, talking to me, and holding doors. The only thing I would complain about is that one of the elevators isn't working so sometimes it takes a little while to get from our room to the lobby.

Pleasantly surprised with our stay. Room was quite spacious and well appointed with modern furnishings. The minibar in our room seemed to have been locked and the room service was the most expensive I've ever seen ($8 initial charge plus 20% service fee). But it made for a good reason to visit the restaurant, Urbana, which had a great vibe for a weeknight with a mix of locals and guests, some of whom were doing work. Friendly and accommodating front desk staff, as well. Would stay again.

Nice hotel, huge room, convenient location to the metro and several restaurants. They are pet-friendly. They offer a red, white, or sparkling wine and Chex Mix with peanuts from 5-6 nightly and coffee/tea in the morning. The elevators are incredibly slow, there is no laundry on-site, and no coffee makers in the room. You can empty the mini bar to use the fridge and then put everything back. There is a restaurant available for breakfast, dinner, and room service, but it's pricey.

Customer service is great. We originally reserved a room with king size bed, but when we got there they gave us a room with 1 queen size. After a quick chat with the front dest, they upgraded us to a much larger room with 2 queen size since they do not have any room with kings left. The location is convenient as there are many restaurants next to the hotel or within a few minutes of walking distance. The only cons is that the room we ended up with had no vent in the bathroom, not sure if all rooms are like that.

We just returned from a week's stay at the Hotel Palomar and we couldn't have had a better experience. We are Disney Vacation Club members and booked through our exchange. We had such a wonderful time exploring DC from Dupont Circle; the hotel is right off of a Metro Station and there are several great restaurants within walking distance. The restaurant in the hotel was perfect for breakfast; large portions and friendly service. The room was spacious and fit the five of us very comfortably. I would say that the the staff was the best part - friendly, accommodating and good natured. Well done! We will be back!

Great attentions from the staff. Very close to historic and lots of restaurants. A few minutes walk to Dupont Circle, it was perfect location and they even lend bikes to go around, now that's service! Breakfast in the restaurant was a big portion, I enjoyed it, specially the natural orange juice. They have wine hour at five pm in the lobby every day, don't miss it. Would definitely stay if I come to DC another time.

This is a hip, trendy, and modern hotel is a hip and trendy DC neighborhood. We would not normally choose a hotel like this. This is just not our style. It was our 2nd choice for a stay in DC, but we could not get a room at our first choice. So we decided to try something different, and we could not have been more pleased. From the doorman to the front desk to the housekeepers good service is practiced well here. It does not seem forced. They actually seem to care that you have an enjoyable stay. We spent a week here, and not a day was not wonderful. Rooms are large and roomy and bright. Every evening in the lobby a complimentary wine bar with snacks certainly add value. Not the best wine to be found, but it is complimentary and decent selections that are enjoyable. Coffees and teas in the lobby in the morning with complimentary newspapers...NY Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post. But the neighborhood was probably our favorite part of the stay. Easy access to the Metro and all of DC, the Palomar is nestled right in the middle of the DuPont Circle neighborhood. A fun and lively neighborhood when you want it to be and a tranquil and relaxed environment when you need to relax. Great beers, food, and sights all within a reasonable walk. Don't hesitate to make this a landing spot for your DC travels.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked this hotel on there and they had the cheapest rates around... Right off Dupont circle, so it's easy to get to. The staff was pleasant, and the restaurant on site was OK. A little over priced, but it's DC so that's expected. My wife and I got a room with a soaking tub. The first night we were there we were in the tub and roughly 30 minutes later a maintenance person came to the door (it was around around midnight), and asked us to drain the tub as it was leaking onto the room below us. We were able to get another room that was comparable the next morning, but we still lost a night of usefulness of the room we paid for. Getting the breakfast option added to your room is absolutely worth it, and the valet is good too if you aren't taking the metro in.

I truly do love staying in kimpton hotels. Hotel is in a great location. The rooms are nicely designed. I just think that the staff should be a little be more with it. They forgot a couple of amenities in the room. Overall we love the hotel and we will not let these couple of things ruin our love for the kimpton.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked this hotel on there and they had the cheapest rates around... Easy to get to and to get around from this location. The service is top-notch. We arrived after the wine hour so they gave free drink coupons at the bar which we enjoyed. The room was large and comfortable with all the expected amenities (2 robes, minibar/fridge, and a snack drawer) and a couple unexpected (yoga mats). Without trying we managed to time our return from our first long day of siteseeing to coincide with their complimentary wine hour. Red, white, or water they catered to your needs with cheery dispositions. It was a great way to make small talk with other guests and share our findings around the city. From that first encounter a staff member learned my husband and I were vacationing there as part of our first anniversary. Soon after we returned to our suite, room service appeared at our door with a complimentary bottle of wine and a small sampling of charcuterie as a gift.

Well we started off having problems because we booked it with hotwire who "garunteed" we would have a two qeen room. But we got two our room and it was 1 king and we had three adults and one infant so we couldn't fit on that. The very nice guy who brought up our stuff told us that hotwire and other companies van garuntee anything and you not get it. So he then called to see if their were anymore rooms available and they said none. So we personally went down and asked and we got one king and a pullout sofa. While I was waiting at our old room with our stuff the guy from before came in and checked on us and brought our stuff to the next room. Only complaints with hotel was hard to get into GPS led us to the wrong side three times not really their fault though and the ice machine wasn't working on seventh floor.

If any of you guys are looking for dirt cheap hotel deals I would check out HotelRaven. Com I saved a ton of money using that site. Overall a great hotel. For the money, would come back again. Staff were very courteous if not always the most knowledgable. Pros: Room was great. Big, and more than comfortable enough, with no problems whatsoever. Location could not possibly be better. Central DC. Near bars. Near businesses. Near restaurants. Near everything. Staff get an A for effort, and an A for friendliness. Cons: The hotel is understaffed. The first 15 minutes of the experience were really not great, with significant difficulty pulling up/getting a valet, and only 2 people working a VERY crowded lobby. Once I was being helped, everything was more than fine, but the person managing staffing may need to reevaluate scheduling. The staff are very courteous, but not the most knowledgable. The concierge knew nothing about local dry cleaning options for my suit. While they did an excellent job researching and getting back to me, it strikes me as something that one would want the concierge to be more familiar with. They also made a good effort, but were unable to help much finding me a dinner reservation, which I eventually found on my own. Additionally, while it was of no consequence, it was quite funny to hear the person at wine hour serving "mer-lot". The TV I had couldn't be (easily - I couldn't figure it out) used with outside devices. 24 hour room service is only kind of/sort of 24 hours. Overall, for the money, great. Even not for the money - still somewhere to consider for your next stay. However, there is some room for improvement.

We had the pleasure of staying at this hotel from 17th to 20th August, we loved it.The hotel is in a perfect position for all the sights. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The pool was fantastic to chill in and around after sightseeing in the heat. The breakfast and evening meals were superb. We would recommend this hotel to everybody.
