I did not stay in this Hotel, but my reason for being there was to acquire information. From what I can see this Hotel is very popular, with ocean views, a fun happy eatery, it's the place to be in beautiful Surf City, USA, in Huntington Beach, CA while vacationing. It has Valet, underground parking, and it is very clean.

This review is based on a stay from Memorial weekend 2020. We didn’t realize that the beaches and city reopened just prior to our visit which is completely not the fault of the hotel however does impact the experience at the hotel. We had hoped for a quiet relaxing stay but instead were met with a bustling city and the hotel was packed with guests. The hotel lobby was packed and seemed to be more of a “party” environment with guests walking around and spilling drinks and just off the beach with barely there clothing. We attempted to check in around 4:45pm after waiting in a long line for about 30 minutes. Our room was not ready at check in but the hotel texted us about 40 minutes later saying our room was ready. We went back to the front desk to get our room key but were told we needed to get back in line again. We waited another 20 minutes in line and got our room key. The staff was super busy and I’m sure doing their best but came across as unconcerned that our room wasn’t ready and very matter of fact when they told us to get back in line. I had booked an ocean view but instead had a view of the street and surrounding businesses. From our balcony we had just a mere glimpse of the ocean - not what we were expecting. About 11pm loud music started blaring and we first thought it was coming from the beach. It quieted down for a bit and then I was woken up again to the same loud music around 2am which lasted until around 4 in the morning. By 9 am the music was back on again and we finally went to the front desk to complain since we realized it was coming from another hotel room. The front desk told us they hadn’t received any other complaints and made us feel like our concerns were unwarranted. Unfortunately there were no other rooms to switch us too. We decided to leave early and ended up speaking with the manager who graciously allowed us to check out early and discounted our rate. Overall our experience was poor largely due to the holiday weekend, beaches being newly reopened, the mass number of visitors, and the lack of concern from the hotel staff.

AMAZING stay! We traveled to Huntington Beach with two kids for a long weekend and were SO thrilled with our experience. The staff was wonderful and so helpful, the room was lovely and all of the extras made the stay even better! Don't miss the evening happy hours (such a great touch) plus all of the complimentary beach items which are great for a traveling family. Super location for beach access and an easy drive to Disneyland. We were thrilled!

Very convenient to the beach and other local restaurants and businesses. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were clean and housekeeping was very efficient. Only real negative was that snacks and drinks limited to a small mini bar in the room. No vending machines in the hotel. Overall a very good experience.

Great amenities, 5pm wine and beer service is an excellent perk. Staff are all friendly and as helpful as needed. Really nice to have the luxury services without feeling stuck-up or overly snobby. If you want to treat yourself to a luxury experience but maintain the laid-back beach charm this is a great spot.

This hotel made the trip perfect. Everything you could want or need. Across street from beach but if you have ocean front room great views. Within walking distance of about anything. Workout room was great. If you need something they have it

We’ve stayed here twice now and will absolutely be back. We love everything about this hotel. The hotel staff is friendly and welcoming. The on-site restaurant has a great selection and if you’re traveling with your pet, they even have a doggy menu. Thank you Kimpton Shorebreak for making our trips to HB so pleasant and easy!

I've been coming here for almost 2 years now because of a friend who comes out from Australia almost 2x a year for business . The service here is amazingly exceptional , the staff is of excellent quality and know how to service all especially their regulars. The front desk staff who consist of Leo, Matthew, Chandra and Cody are very warm, approachable and extraordinarily welcoming. Even though I'm a local I love staying here and receiving the most adequate hospitality ever. Dave Dickso and I thank you so much for your continued kindess and genuine attitude. Hope to see you sooner than later ..

We had a wonderful and relaxing 4-day break here. Cameron at the reception desk is very welcoming. Fatima from housekeeping made sure we had good sleep each night. The pillows and beds are clean and comfortable. They serve free wine for an hour at the main lobby and have smores in the afternoons too. The free use of bikes and the fresh cold water with lemon and strawberries by the stairs are a plus. We keep our windows and the door to the patio open to let the cool breeze from nearby Huntington Beach inside the bedroom. There are shops and lots of very good restaurants nearby. We very much enjoyed our stay here.

Rooms are spacious, air conditioned, beautiful bathroom with walk in shower. Big TV, big bed. Great. Staff are very friendly and always go the extra mile, Cameron met me at reception and provided hands down the best customer service I've had. Venu wise, they lend out beach stuff, boards, bikes, buckets, spades, etc. They have free snores to cook in their fire pits, they have green wine hour and many other great little touches. This place is very close to the beach (and the pier) it's on a road parallel to main street, so in an awesome location. If I was going to criticize anything it would be that you need to request brew kit for your room, I'd have preferred it to already be there. There is a paid for mini bar and selection of chocolates and sweeties in the room, but these are a little pricey. There's a 7-eleven down the road to satiate even the sweetest tooth for a fraction of the price. All in all a very good experience and I will be returning

Staff here such as Robert and Chandra are super helpful and go above and beyond to make guests feel welcomed! Our room was small but clean and well appointed for a beachside hotel. I heard that Kimpton Hotels were an amazing company to work for, so I decided to check the place out. I didn't stay overnight, so I can't comment on the rooms. The lobby and restaurant though were very nice. It was modern but also had a great beach vibe. The employees seem very happy working there, so I know it must be a great company. I ate a breakfast burrito at the bar, while speaking with the bartender there. The food was delicious and the service was great. Even if I don't end up getting a job here, I would love to come back again.

Great hotel. Wonderful location. Nice rooms. Friendly staff. Like most Kimptons! Restaurant inside is good. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby as well. There is a beautiful courtyard in the middle of the hotel. Lots of patio furniture, fire pit, heat lamps for winter, super sized chess board, and other patio games.

And the dog beach is about a mile away. Definitely coming back here soon.

I had a great stay at the Kimpton Shorebreak. The rooms are large and the beds are comfortable. There are a lot of great perks (free wine hour and smores). The location is perfect, right across the street from the beach. My only complaint is that they do not have two queen beds in her rooms so the beds can feel a little cramped.

Love kimpton hotels. They're dog friendly, and have free wine in the evenings for hotel guests. This one is right by the Beach. I live in Huntington Beach, but had my wedding reception and wedding night here. The bar and lobby area are set up for a really good time (fancy a game of drunken 3 foot tall chess, anyone?). Right next to the beach with tons of rooms with beach and pier views. If you're visiting from out of town, this is right in the middle of everything, and it can't be beat.

This place was amazing. The location is right off the beach and the view is amazing. The restaurant has got to be the best fusion of Pacific cuisine I've ever had. And the staff is simple awesome. They are so friendly and inviting. Even received a text from the concierge just to make sure the room was good. I would definitely come back.

I was in Huntington Beach for a wedding and decided to stay at the Kimpton. It is a perfect hotel for a couple's retreat. Right on the beachfront, they have so many items that they will loan to you for no additional charge. Service is friendly and thorough. I would highly recommend it!

The Shorebreak Hotel is fantastic! Better than I expected! Everything is so clean, staff is super friendly, great location right by the beach. We are currently staying in the Shorebreak's wraparound 2-bedroom suite, and it's amazing. Like with every Kimpton hotel, customer service is great. There's complementary coffee and tea in the mornings, as well as wine hour from 5-6. There's also an attached bar and restaurant, as well as plenty of great places to eat within walking distance. Plus, it's literally across the street from the beach. What's not to love?

This hotel is located right in the heart of Huntington Beaches party Ave. Featuring super friendly staff and I was surprised to find that the hotel caters to dog parents as well. I will definitely be bringing my wife and dogs next time. As you can't pass up wine hour or free smores! I almost forgot to mention the view from the hotel room was amazing inside and out.

Last place we stayed at during our LA visit. Only wished we were here longer. Awesome boutique hotel. Front desk was overwhelmed and understaffed. But great amenities. Fitness facility amazing and clean. Walking distance to the beach and everything else Huntington night life has to offer! Room was small but pretty cool. Will check this place out again on my next visit to LA!

Wow. Just wow. That's all I can say. The staff is absolutely incredible, the hotel is impeccably decorated, and the little touches send it over the top. Came out for my wife's and my anniversary and couldn't have asked for a better time. The wine hour is awesome, the bike rentals were a great perk, and just the general location of it is awesome. Seriously, do yourself a favor next time you come to HB and give this hotel a try. You will not be disappointed. Can't wait to come back!

From the outward appearance the hotel looks a lot like the shops on the beach. The interior has a pretty typical ocean themed atmosphere going on: lots of thick rope, sea shells, light shades of blue and green. The staff was helpful and friendly. The restraint had good food, although maybe a bit pricey for some, but the main attraction (the room, at least for me) was very cozy, it kept the ocean theme, the beds were soft and there is a TV in every of the suite. Plus it right next to the beach, can't go wrong.

The hotel just went through a remodel. The public space was nice. This hotel has gone through a big transition over the past 2years. Not sure if it was a good thing. As a local we use to go for drinks out on the patio. It seems to have lost that welcoming feeling.

We usually love love love this hotel!! We come down and stay here for the Factory Five Car Show. We love the hotel is located right downtown, right next to the beach. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. What a nice touch to have s'mores and wine in the evening and a dog friendly hotel. However, this time we have to give 4 stars because the second night of our stay, they hosted a huge conference. Usually this would be fine if they had a bigger area for this, but the conference was in the lobby/reception area. It was so noisy and over crowded that we couldn't play ping pong or relax and do s'mores.

I gotta say, when you walk up to a hotel and guests from the balcony toss you a beer, you might wonder what type of place you're staying in. But this hotel is awesome! The staff is friendly and courteous. The happy hour is great. The room is spacious and that tub! Highly recommended!

Beautiful hotel from head to toe and room to valet just about the same... the first is my wife and it follows up about the Kimpton. it's just that after all these years I have learned one thing and that is that when I find myself in a spot where I am about to call something beautiful it's always a good rule of thumb that I mention my wife first in the same regard...

I'm just saying.

Beautiful hotel. Very small surfer vibe and homey. The beach is across the street and you're in the middle of the beach town with all the restaurants and bars you could need. My husband and I had such a great experience at the Shorebreak, thanks to Savy at the front desk. Sadly we only stayed for one night, but our experience was phenomenal. Savy took amazing care of us and then called up to our room within a couple hours of our being there to make sure we liked it and were happy with everything. This was by far my favorite Kimpton experience (have stayed in Phoenix and NYC as well). The hotel itself is beautiful and the amenities did not disappoint. From the valet staff to the entire hotel staff, can't say enough good things.

The hotel is nice and the wine social is cool. We went there to celebrate our 5th anniversary (we went there on our wedding night) and it was a little less than our previous experience. We were put in a handicap room and we heard outside sounds almost all night. The bed and pillows were just okay.

Fun, quiet, clean and artsy.Enter the courtyard and leave the busy city behind.A bit off the beaten track but close enough to the M uni to get around the city without your vehicle. The front desk staff are friendly, kind and helpful Tiffany was so patient with our check in.The rooms are small, but far bigger than the W which is easily twice the price. Located right on PCH in Huntington Beach this a very quaint boutique hotel. Easy to walk in from 5th Street, the hotel has a nice beach like ambiance about it, a different approach to decor. The rooms have a surfing theme and are light and bright.
There are plenty of places to dine right in the proximity and a lot of things to do on the adjacent HB Beach the HB Pier. Definitely a nice location and hotel in the heart of HB.

Very clean, quiet hotel in a stellar location. Customer service is average. Wanna have your own fire pit with some s'mores great little treat. Restaurant that serves breakfast/lunch/dinner/cocktails however I did not visit to try the food so I can not properly review that end. Valet service is decent, young boys appear to be respectful and informative.

There are plenty of hotels lined alongside PCH, but this one stood out to me for some reason. The inside lower lobby was minimal but gorgeous and as soon as walked up the stairs to the rooms, it got even better. The quality is high class and the deck is open and has larger versions of famous games like connect 4 or chess. The bar/ restaurant has excellent service and perfect spot for a night cap when youre feeling awake.

Wonderful, quite staycation in October! I reserved a courtyard city view room, with a "queen" bed (felt more like a full bed) for the weekend of October 11th. My partner & I stayed to spend a wonderful birthday weekend & loved every minute of it. Upon making my reservation, I had asked the hotel staff to book me the most quite room possible since I'm a light sleeper. Bam! Like that, they followed through. Front desk was super nice. Smooth check in and check out. The room was wonderful! Love the modern beach decor. Super cleaned, both the bathroom & sleeping area. The bed was super comfy & so were the bean bags! The balcony is nice but really overlooks a really run down antique shop, some new developed apartments & you get a small glimpse of the Pacific. I still loved the view especially when the marine layer hovered over the beach & PCH. We didn't eat at the restaurant but found ourselves eating out. Loved the hotel. Will be coming back!

Great hotel that allows all kinds of dogs..they even have a dog menu! Close to the beach and shopping and tons of great restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will be back! Only cons...food was okay they do have chicken nuggets...but they were not cooked all the way so sent them back...got burnt ones instead. The waitress did take them off the bill. The A/C units are loud but work well.
