Outstanding hotel. Just spent 3 nights there. The vibe is fun, the atmosphere is light. Plus the location cant be beat. Steps from the red and blue lines, only a couple blocks from millennium park. Would 100% stay here again.

Such a cute place. Everything in the room was newly updated and very clean. Bed was extremely comfortable. Great view of the city as well. Staff were very friendly. Restaurant downstairs was also very tasty! Highly recommend!

Unbelievably accommodating for our German Shepherd, Drake. Dog owners know how incredibly difficult (and often expensive) it can be to stay at a hotel with a dog. The Alise on the other hand, welcomed Drake 100%. The whole staff practically came out to greet him. The second day we were here, we noticed they had written his name on a little dog sculpture in the lobby. Amazing. Everything else was on point. Clean, nice, great view etc. All around fantastic.

Also an FYI, if you’re traveling with dogs. There’s a dog park just north of Millennium Park, probably a 10-15 Walk from the hotel between Randolph and Lower Wacker. It’s a little hidden, but it’s one of the nicest dog parks I’ve ever seen. Google it, you’ll find it.

The Alise is a beautiful corner location within the downtown Loop surrounded by the modern architecture Chicago is world famous for. Inside is a small and calm contemporary dining setting where early brunches are equally at home as late night cocktails in the widely-windowed Atwood cafe. The staff is genial in offering even non-hotel guests like myself fine service. The pillowed seats are welcoming for both bleary travelers and busy executives. I ordered the bagel and cream cheese, which was a divine easel of toasted plain bagel, dill cream cheese, fresh cucumbers, pickled red onions, mild capers, tender smoked salmon and plump cherry tomatoes. The table next to mine ordered the french toast and bacon and eggs, and judging by the contented conversation flowing they were just as happy with the menu selections as I was. There are unfortunately no options on sweet confections, but the neighborhood offers alternatives. For those wondering, trekking to the restrooms lead me to the well-lit, easy to follow basement of the hotel area, away from the cafe/lobby. Thank you AAA tour book for recommending the Atwood.

Great location for downtown Chicago. Convenient access to L train and buses. Easy walk to Millenium park. Friendly staff. Tidy, clean hotel. Beautiful design features. Room door access is with an actual key. Comfortable stay!

Loved the liquid soap dispensers for the shower as opposed to tiny bar soaps to limit waste. The blankets are great and I love the idea of not having to deal with sheets. The old charms of the hotel meld well with the modernized rooms. Location is perfect.

We stay in Chicago frequently and this was our first time here. I give it two stars not because it was awful but because compared to other hotels in Chicago, their customer service is subpar. From the moment I got here and no one helped me carry four large bags through two double doors. Check in was okay. I got stuck in their elevator twice. We sat at the bar and were ignored. We finally got up and left.

i just checked out and had to get my husband’s bag from the valet. He plunked it into my already full hands and let me carry them out the door again. He took my tag and said hope you had a nice stay and left. They told me at check in to give them 20 minutes to get my car. It’s been 40 since i called. Apparently help into the car isn’t in their service either. It’s fine. I can do it myself perfectly. But I won’t be back here any time soon.

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Such an incredible experience from the customer service to the room to the location. Very clean, accommodating, comfortable (still dreaming about the robe) and this hotel made my trip to Chicago one of the best! I highly recommend staying here. You won't regret it!

The room was clean and very comfortable. The check-in day, the room was very well organized. However, the second night, my amenities were not replaced (even though you pay for them with an additional fee) and my bed was made with much less care than the first evening. Staff were pleasant and friendly and the location is amazing.

A centrally located hotel with superb service. The room was clean, bright, and tastefully decorated. We were lucky enough to get a room on the 8th floor which had nice views. With little effort, one could see Lake Michigan in the distance. By paying a service fee included in the total price, you got access to water, coffee and bicycles to discover the city. The staff was very nice and friendly and I can not help but recommend the hotel and would love to stay there again when I visit Chicago. All you would want is that they served breakfast buffet and included it in the price. Now it's cheaper to have breakfast at any cafe nearby.

Beautiful old building in the heart of the Windy city ... minutes walk to the Lake, to the river, nice pubs and Michigan Ave restaurants. Near all the great museums and other tourist meccas. AWESOME STAFF...😃

The room is comfortable, but there is only one night stand which is a bit awkward for a couple sharing a King bed. They lend bicycles with a helmet and lock, which are yellow and fun to ride. Very convenient for getting around to the local tourist spots and restaurants. Staff are incredibly friendly and endlessly helpful.

We were upgraded to a King Suite and it was amazing! Large windows lit the room very well with natural light. Everything was very clean and modern. Made us feel at home. We would stay at this property again. The location was great! Most of the places we ate and visited were within a few blocks of the hotel.
My wife and one of the couples we were traveling with got stuck in the elevator while we were there. Not exactly a warm and fuzzy feeling. I also would have preferred having a credit card style key, opposed to a metal key jabbing me in the leg while in my pocket(However, I understand due to the historic status of the hotel, this is not an option). We also would have preferred a traditional bed that was premade for us. The comforter that was part of the "naked experience" ended up on the floor more times than I could count. Next time we stay, we will just utilize the flat sheet and blanket that is provided in the room closet.
We will definitely be back! :)

Extremely convenient and comfortable hotel. Great amenities in the room: refrigerator, good in room coffee with real ceramic mugs, plush bathrobes, even give you slippers which you get to take home, in room safe, even an umbrella. Hotel is one block from Washington Station on the blue line so it is very easy to get to from Ohare Airport - $3.00 ride. You are about 5 blocks from the French Market (excellent Food Hall) and just couple blocks from Millennium Park. Definitely will stay again.

The room was just as tiny as most other hotel rooms in the city would be. However the location was perfect for walking around, dining out and shopping in the city. Within the historical building, the pineapple themed room was very cozy. The front desk staff were always very welcoming and helpful as well.

My wife and I decided to celebrate our one year anniversary at this hotel. Upon arrival we told the front desk we chose this property because after we got our marriage license last year we celebrated with champagne at the Atwood, so it made sense!

Our check in was a breeze and we immediately felt at home. Our room was spotless and so comfy! I couldn't wait to get in that robe and try out the duvet.

We left for dinner shortly after checking in. When we returned we received a phone call from Lindsey at the front desk. She asked if we drank alcohol and if we could accept a visit.

About ten minutes later, Lindsey herself and Zach (another staff member) came to our room with an entire bottle of champagne on ice and an enormous piece of chocolate cake! As if they wasn't enough, Lindsey also wrote a hand written anniversary card for us. I felt like we were so special and appreciated.

Never have I felt so important by a hotel staff. It warmed our hearts.
As far as the room, so comfy. Loved the robe and bed. This location is great as well. We lastly enjoyed the Atwood for some bloody marys in the morning.

We will be back and we won't forget this stay. Thank you!

A very hip hotel with great views! They have the cutest branding and feel once you step inside. There is free water and coffee in the lobby as well as the hotel's restaurant which serves trendy and unique dishes (you also get a discount with staying at the hotel). It used to be an old office building and the restored architecture is beautiful

Such a wonderful experience! The staff were friendly and made sure we had a positive experience. The hotel is beautiful with all of the original woodwork. The food and drinks in the Atwood were original and delicious. I would highly recommend staying here! Great location, as well.

My wife and I just stayed there for a long weekend. Service was great, rooms were clean, hotel was quiet, and valet service reasonable. The staff was especially accommodating, even buying us a few cupcakes from a local shop for my wife's birthday. The hotel itself had an amazing atmosphere. We loved the mixture of old architecture and modern chic updates. Would definitely stay there again. The only slightly negative thing I can say is the amenity fee is not worth it. I HATE Keurig cups and bottle water, would appreciate an option to forgo both for a greener stay.

Great location and friendly staff. Room was a touch smaller, but the amenities we're great for the hotel. Bring only 2 blocks from theaters and millennium Park is a great spot. Vallet parking only at the place, I would suggest finding a park and stay package.

Nice atmosphere and room. Very classic. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a bit small despite being nice, and the elevator took forever to get between floors. Other than that had a great time there.

Best hotel experience I've EVER had. Omar and the other staff members treated us like royalty! When we checked in, my husband mentioned this was a trip for my 30th birthday and Omar immediately upgraded our standard room to a king suite. He also arranged for a birthday gift to be delivered to the room on our second-to-last day - champagne and gourmet popcorn! I absolutely loved all the little touches - the pineapple yellow robes, the slippers that I got to take home, the unlimited K cups and water delivered to our room and the "happy hour" in the lobby with coffee and little pieces of CAKE! The hotel is also in a great location, super close to all train lines and the theaters. Can't say enough wonderful things about this place, and great price too!

My husband, me and Doodle Bob, our Silky Terrier, spent 2 nights in the super comfortable, gorgeous hotel The Alise. Kitty corner from one of the largest department stores, Macy's, and just 3 blocks from fantastic Millennium Park. It's by far one of the best hotels we've stayed in. Absolute quiet, very clean, phenom bed, comforters and pillows. The staff is helpful, unassuming and there when you need them. We love that Daniel Burnham still reigns king of the architects. Restoration is remarkable; a true Chicago gem, making it the best stay in the city.

We arrived, we stayed two nights, we left. They allowed us to store our bags until our flight leaves the day we checked out. The rooms looked clean and the beds were comfortable. It's right in the center of Chicago and we could walk everywhere we wanted to within minutes. The hotel is inside of a historic building and we had a clear view of Macy's and Trump tower out our window. There was some strange $10 fee for water and coffee (I think?) but no way to opt out of so I don't know why they even mentioned it. There was also a plush dog and gift basket in the room but each was $25 or so.

Staff were great and super helpful. Location was amazing! Rooms were clean and the bedding was wonderful! Loved the complimentary coffee, slippers and water! Only wished they had better showers (i.e. better shower heads and a lot hotter showers - love hot showers) but other than that great place!

The experience was truly one of the best hotel stays I've ever had anywhere. I stayed at the Alise in 2011 when it was The Burnham. It was fabulous then, but it managed to get even better. Traveling isn't always easy. We arrived early and exhausted from an early morning flight. The staff had our room ready in advance. It was incredible. The beds. Oh my goodness, the beds. I cannot tell you how comfortable, and clean, and inviting the room was. The hotel restaurant, Atwood, is also quite good. Oh, and have I mentioned that the building is architecturally stunning? The restoration was top-notch. Our stay at the Alise completed our perfect weekend away in Chicago. Truly, look no further for hotel that will positively exceed your expectations.

This is a super cute boutique hotel in a great location. Walking distance to the Chicago Cultural Center, many theatres, and the Bean, and close to lots of shopping and amenities and public trabsportation. The hotel staff is friendly and the architrcture is very beautiful. The rooms and beds are also very comfortable. I'd highly recommend staying here when visiting the downtown area.

We had a fantastic stay at The Alise. Came on a weeknight and paid less than $200 for the room and overnight valet parking, which isn't terrible considering the location. It was within walking distance to all the spots we needed. The staff was incredible and the room (although small) was comfortable. The individual duvets on the bed were a nice touch, it may be the best I've ever slept (and yes, we are now going to adapt the 2-duvets 1-bed style). My only complaint was the bathroom facilities could use some maintenance/updating. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay at The Alise immensely and will be staying there again.

The hotel was very nice! Fantastic views of the city, very clean rooms and a friendly staff. We did have issues with a package we ordered (my girlfriend paid to have beer on ice upon our arrival, and it was not there and we had to remind them several times to bring it up). However, they provided the package free of charge for the trouble. Very good service! I would recommend this hotel for anyway who wants to stay in the heart of Chicago.

I loved this hotel! The location is fabulous for walking downtown and to the lake shore. The hotel has a lot of rustic charm but is updated and clean. I look forward to staying here again!

Did they have a name change. I stayed when it was Kimpton. Great place to sleep. Comfy beds. On business trip. Rested well. Nice fruit infused water at entry. Free bike to use in town. Free wine hour. That was great. Not sure if they do it but it was needed. Nice character and in town close to everything. Paid Shuttle to airport decent.

Our stay was wonderful. The room was clean, quite comfortable, and had a great view, and we appreciated the European-style duvet setup on the queen bed (one per person). Complimentary cupcake hour was delicious. The service was friendly, welcoming, and efficient. But most of all, as a historian, I loved the fantastic adaptive reuse of the 1895 Reliance building. Kudos for bringing this gorgeous old Chicago landmark back to life!

Great historic architecture and architectural accents, friendly and accommodating service, convenient location to downtown attractions. We really enjoyed our overnight. The rooms and common areas have held onto some interesting design elements of the building's past. Room was very clean. Dinner at the Atwood. Service was good. My wife had the Amish chicken. It was dry and covered in dill. I had the halibut, which also had way too much dill. I'm not opposed to ever eating there again, but it won't make any lists of places I would recommend

I loved everything about this hotel. The scale of the lobby, common spaces and the size of my room was just perfect! I loved the super helpful staff, the restaurant service was amazing, room service was on point. The room was the perfect size, LOVED the BEDDING! So quiet and intimate - please don't change anything. Love kids but this is really an adult hotel - a nice little getaway in the city.

Restaurant was nice. Reserved table for brunch for my family & best friend for my college graduation, we were about 25 mins early but seated immediately. Server was friendly. However, there were little things that stood out in a less good way. Friend ordered blueberry waffles & they brought her raspberry ones - waiter said he forgot to tell us they ran out of blueberry. about 1/3 of our table got less-than-warm food. drinks were average.

This is, hands down, the best hotel I have ever stayed in. It was thoughtfully appointed, with two (2!!) Down comforter per bed, extremely comfortable robes, an amazing shower, and a beautiful view. The decor is lovely, and their afternoon cupcakes are delicious. The staff was courteous. It is within two blocks of the Hamilton theater, and within easy walking distance of several fantastic (and affordable) restaurants. Highly recommend ded.

Staff was friendly and thoughtful. Room was small (it's downtown Chicago: smaller room to be expected) but so comfortable and very clean. Atwood restaurant downstairs was great. The photos are taken at misleading angles, and it is not what one would think walking in. It was very stifled and rigid. The rooms are SO small. Our bedroom at home was bigger than the room that we paid almost $200 to stay in. Our reservation stated 2 adults and there was one chair, so my husband and I couldn't sit comfortably next to one another. They advertise how it is so close to the United Center to draw visitors in, and when we booked our stay for a Friday night Hawk's game and returned at 11:30, the bar was closed. The accomodations are few and far between. The rooms are clean but so small you bash your knees walking to the bed because it is so close to the wall. When we booked our stay parking was advertised at $38 a night, and we were told at the door we had to use valet which was $62 per night. The staff was pleasant and the room was clean, but there was nothing that would make us come back. We were incredibly disappointed.

The staypinnapple hotel was fantastic. Apart from the incredible decor to the hotel, the hospitality was great! I stayed on the 7th floor and had an awesome view of the streets below and was able to take some great photos. Most of the hotel had marble in it (marble stairs marble tables etc.) It was beautiful. There are cool old school rotary phones that call the front desk on each floor too. All in all this hotel was both cheap and awesome!

This was our first time visiting Chicago so I requested a room with a view. This is a nice, dog-friendly hotel. The room was clean and well-appointed. Great place to travel with family. They offer free breakfast and dinner, but it's a bit of a chaotic free-for-all. An area that could comfortably accommodate a 8-10 people trying to get food at once was jammed with 30 or 40 people, all reaching, grabbing, pushing and yelling....

We had a great view up on the twelfth floor looking up State Street with the Chicago Theatre marquee out one window and a view of Millennium Park and Lake Michigan out of the other window.

Service was excellent.

Only one issue was the street noise up to about 10 pm. There were street drummers on the corner below that were loud.

Easy walking to all of the State Street shopping. If you don't want to go to the hotel restaurant and bar there are plenty of great local restaurants and bars too.

The hotel itself is beautiful. The lobby and diner are beautiful and the staff is very friendly. The breakfast downstairs is not worth missing. Further more the hotel offers a complimentary bicycle for the guests at the hotel to use downtown which I thought was a great addition. The location itself is certainly the strongest thing this hotel has going for it other than its food and aesthetic charm. The only reason I wouldn't rate it five stars would be do to the bathrooms. They are certainly nice and very comfortable however compared to the rest of the hotel they seem outdated. Now let me clarify, they are spotless and we'll stocked with sweet smelling toiletries, the shower itself just looked like something you'd find in a home, not a four star hotel. Overall, if you're looking to throw yourself into downtown and enjoy yourself while you aren't, this is definitely the hotel for you.

I absolutely loved this hotel. The staff at the front desk were incredibly helpful. My girlfriend and I were attempting to plan a date night to celebrate my birthday. The staff offered to call in and arrange reservations for us, they had tons of great information about the area, and when we came back to our room from a day in Chicago the front desk had sent up wine and popcorn as a little birthday gift with a hand written letter.

If all Kimpton hotels are like this I'll be staying at them everywhere I go.
