Just checked out today. Beautiful, clean hotel with kind and friendly staff. Free wine on Friday evening was a PLUS! King bed was the most comfortable I'd ever been in. The shower's cold/hot settings were wacky so I had to play with it to get the temperature just right. I gave 3 starts because they're misleading. I called months prior to arrival because I'd read reviews about hidden fees at checkout and was told that whatever I prepaid was it. THERE IS A RESORT FEE OF ABOUT $25/nt that must be paid at checkout. I didn't mind paying the money but I specifically asked about that and was lied to! Carlyle, be transparent with your guests!!!

If anybody is trying to find good deals on hotels visit HoteIBully. com booked a hotel on there and they had the best rates anywhere!

We stayed at the Carlyle for two nights while stopping over in DC - and it was not long enough. Love the building, the art, the rooms are cozy and cute, and the bathrooms are sleek. The happy hour social from 5-6 was great, their seasonal sangria was super tasty. Although the space was wonderful, the warm and welcoming staff was definitely the highlight of our stay - especially Patricia. She was so lovely and kind, and had the BEST recommendation for breakfast (we loved it so much we went back for dinner- ‘Ted’s Bulletin’). I think it would be hard to come back to DC and not stay at the Carlyle- I’d feel like I was missing out. Such a great neighborhood, location is close to sites but not too close. I can’t wait to come back - thanks for such a great stay, Carlyle!
Sincerely,

The hotel is very clean! They have a nice fitness room and lounge area (living room) which includes complimentary coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. The hotel front desk representative, Ahmed, is kind and has excellent customer service skills. Ahmed went above and beyond by printing out some documents for me at the desk. I highly recommend this hotel!

Despite the 4 star rating and enticing street front, my wife and I weren't greatly impressed with the service. The room was modern with quaint under tones. The 4 star rating is really based on the pet services. They offer beds and treats which saved us a lot of effort getting there. Also, it's a 6 min walk from a good size pocket park. This is an city dog's hotel to be. :)

What a great stylish hotel this is. It not only has fabulous rooms with stylish bathrooms it has a great restaurant with fantastic good food. The staff are friendly and helpful. They have a happy hour between 5-6pm with really good wines to try free of charge. The hotel is in a great neighbourhood with tree lined streets. Really worth a try.

Stayed at the Carlyle over Memorial Day weekend for our wedding anniversary and loved it! It's a few minutes walk to Dupont Circle and the Metro. The staff was INCREDIBLY friendly. We loved the modern decor and the bed was very comfortable. It's in a quiet area which is great for sleeping but close to hopping areas like U street, Dupont and Logan circles. Had we realized their dog policy was as open and awesome we would have brought our fur baby along for the weekend.

Beautiful, luxury apartment-like more than hotel. Gorgeous neighborhood for walking and jogging. Quirky art everywhere. Rooms modern and sleek, bathrooms my favorite with lots of marble and a dressing table area complete with bench and large magnifying mirror. The windows actually open. And it smells divine. I'm staying here on my next trip to D.C.

The hotel is in a nice neighborhood, walking distance to restaurants, the metro and some sites. Staff were friendly. I liked the room pretty spacious, included a kitchenette with a coffee maker, microwave and mini fridge. The kitchenette did not have any cutlery or dinnerware which was pretty surprising and disappointing. Housekeeping though polite kept forgetting to return the same number of items they took to change out. We started with 2 coffee mugs, 2 days later left us with only one. Same for the wash cloths and towels.
Overall a good exeperience, it was my birthday at check in and they provided wine and cake which was really nice.
I would stay there again.

Nicely decorated hotel in prime location. We take the metro from Shady Grove into the city when driving from Columbus. It saves a lot of money on parking. We take the metro and uber if it's too far of a walk. The only thing I didn't like about this hotel was you had to ask for ice... It wasn't until I inquired at the front desk that I knew you had to ask for it.. they bring it to you... Everything else was excellent.

We had a mixed experience here. From the website it seemed that the room would be spacious but reality was opposite. There was no barrier or glass door between the toilet and shower. We would prefer one. The staff was cooperative though.

I really enjoyed my time here at the Kimpton. Everyone was so nice and friendly. The security guard made sure my sister was safe when she went outside to meet the guy delivering our food. Such an awesome experience. I would highly recommend it, and I can’t wait to come back here again.

I had a wonderful experience here! First, the location is ideal for great food and night life. The staff is exceptional. I let someone at the front desk know that we were staying to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and we were comped a bottle of wine and fruit assortment. This will definitely be our go to hotel anytime we are in the DC area.

Hotel was very nice. Ultra modern with a wine happy hour from 5 - 6. The wine happy hour featured actual wine you'd want to drink which was a nice touch. The hotel had free wifi and a lounge + bar/restaurant attached. The restaurant wasn't anything special but the happy hour was good for a hotel bar.

nice hotel...very quiet area. Some staff could have been nicer, especially the bellman. 1st room was.not cleaned properly..Room changed. Bellman allowed me to haul.2 suitcases while he.carried.a bottle.of wine..Fail. No way to.cool room other than open windows, in November...or get a.fan. Overall not a normal Kimpton experience. Very nice accommodations near DuPont Circle and near downtown.
Comfortable, quiet, excellent in house restaurant, and a bar with an outstanding staff.
Extremely helpful and courteous front staff and housekeeping.
Only downside is their parking is quite expensive, and if you arrive past a certain point in the evening you will be forced to pay up.

We were travelling with the in-laws and the hotel staff were obliging and discrete in placing us on different floors. Friendly, helpful and clean with facilities galore, I'd stay there again. a lot of character although the hotel is a bit cramped. The location is great for walking to restaurants and shops but probably top far a walk from the mall. The rooms are nice although a bit small and they have some beautiful views from the upper floors.

As a loyal Kimpton patron I was again impressed with the service and accommodations that the Kimpton Carlyle offered. The valet staff was courteous and very accomodative of the time sensitive scheduling constraints I had. The front desk was friendly and helpful, as were the wine hour hosts. A unique feature of the hotel was its rotating art collection which made wandering the lobby feel like a boutique art show. The restaurant in the hotel was excellent though a little pricey. Would absolutely stay here again.

The staff was very friendly at check-in and very helpful at check-out. The location was at Embassy Row so it was central to the Dupont Circle restaurants and Metro, but also the Adams Morgan area, all very walkable and safe neighborhoods. We also walked to the White House and the Mall, where most museums are located. Would stay here again, the restaurant attached to the hotel was also delightful if you want to stay put for a night. Will stay here again

Always love this quirky chain. Rooms are a bit small and past 11pm theres no food so you're left to figure that out yourself. But balancing the fact that it's well located (hence small rooms to keep cost down) and it's easy to get fed in DC anyway, those aren't a big deal. Regular visitor and will come back again!

Rooms were clean, comfortable, be was kinda hard. Staff was very friendly and they used texts to check on you which is nice and convenient. There was a list of free amenities that came with the room, but almost everything cost money. But luckily it's pretty close to a nice strip of restaurants. Would recommend for anyone staying in DC.

Enjoyed my overnight stay here and will be returning during my next stay in DC. It's on a nice residential block and an avenue over from a strip of great bars and restaurants, although with the Rigsby downstairs you don't really need to go anywhere else. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. After arrival, a staff member texted me to ensure I had everything I need and the front desk attendant happily helped me in a bind and printed some documents for me. There was also a complimentary wine hour that I enjoyed. It might be a little bit of a walk to the National Mall and museums but well worth a visit.

Nestled on New Hampshire, just north of DuPont Circle, the Carlyle is one of my favorite hotels to stay at. Located close to the red line, this hotel is easily accessed from Union Station when arriving on the Acela. Make sure to ask for a corner room when you check in. The layout makes for a fantastic interior experience.

Historic, good location, knowledgeable friendly staff. They have complimentary coffee time with fruit-infused water always available and offer a welcoming wine hour in the evenings! The rooms are lovely, modern & well kept. Mini-fridge but no microwave. Many free amenities available if you've forgotten yours, but ask early on. They tend to run out. Pricey but great restaurant on premises. Totally recommend this hotel!!

This is a nice title Hotel and the staff is top-notch. However this will be my last stay here due to some odd quirks. Primary amongst them is the design favors funky and original over functional. A bathroom should have a freaking door, not a glass partition on a hinge with a 2" gap on every side. I love my wife, but neither of us want to see/hear/smell each other poop. The shower also only had a half glass wall making it impossible to shower without soaking the bathroom floor.

This is a very nice hotel. It's about a 10 minute walk from the Dupont Circle Metro station (Red line), but it's well worth it. It's also about a 10 minute walk from Adams Morgan, which is nice part of town that's full of bars and restaurants. The beds were extremely comfortable, room was clean and decent sized. My only complaints would be the exorbitant minibar prices and mediocre front desk service. I asked them to email me my receipt when I checked out but of course they did not. However I would definitely stay here again.

I just spent 4 nights at the Kimpton Carlyle (Dupont Circle) and had a very nice stay. While not overly large, my room was nicely appointed and quite comfortable. The bed was comfy and I had some of my best nights of sleep ever in a hotel. The location made an excellent launching point for excursions to the Smithsonian and surrounding attractions. The walk to the Dupont Circle Metro station was pleasant, and the area looked clean with mostly well-kept yards and buildings. The hotel's restaurant was a little pricey for a quick breakfast, but the food was yummy and of high quality. This stay has set the bar for future visits to D.C.

The rooms are small but comfortable. Service and staff are top notch. Having to request things like a coffee maker, though free, is annoying. The mini bar is more overpriced than I expected. The location isn't the most convenient, especially to the metro but it's not the worst either. For being an old-fashioned converted Hotel. They freakin Rock. Rooms may be small but clean and functional. Close to awesome restaurants and Facilities. Tons of nightclubs nearby within walking distance. The restaurant in the hotel has been one of the finest restaurants at 8 at in a long time. The new Chef they've hired is absolutely the best. They could expand the menu a little bit but giving that they are the best restaurant in the area. Overall I give the restaurant and hotel a five point.

Hands down one of my favorite hotels out of all the hotels I've been in. I've stayed here multiple times over the last couple of years and it has become my favorite to stay when I'm in Washington, .The staff here bend over backwards to make sure you are comfortable during your stay. The rooms are comfortable, well laid out, and the decor cool, monochromatic, and minimalist. This is one of two hotels I've been in that has a room central control panel next to the bed that adjusts lighting, drapes, etc. And it is definitely a nice touch.

Extremely friendly, helpful and professional staff. Happy to provide any assistance needed. Rooms are secure, well provisioned and tidy; the beds are very comfortable. Included in our room was a kitchen, featuring a fridge (with mini bar) and a microwave. The wardrobe contained an easy to use, keyless safe as well as an ironing board + iron and a yoga mat. The lamp between beds featured a USB port for charging mobile devices as well as a standard US 110v socket. TV was functional and well positioned opposite the beds. A Hair dryer is in the bathroom in a small black bag, by the towels. Only issue was the noisy rubbish truck emptying bins outside our window every morning.

This is a total adequate hotel as a place to sleep but not great if you plan to be working much from your room.

Going to start of with the positives - the staff is very friendly and helpful. The bar/restaurant is nice and open late which is good since late night food options within walking distance are limited. The bed and pillows are clean and comfortable. Room and bathroom were both acceptably clean.

Now for the negative aspects. My room is very small and the one I'm in has almost no natural light; I am however on the first floor so this may not be the case for rooms on the higher floors. The AC vent points directly at the bed and as a result blows on you while sleeping. The desk only has one power jack so if charging more than one device you need to do so on a bedside end table. WiFi is fast enough when you are able to connect but was frequently disconnected.

We stayed at the Carlyle at dupont circle in DC on Halloween weekend. The hotel was gorgeous, clean and surrounded by lots of fabulous shops and restaurants. The staff were welcoming, helpful and were willing to help at all times.
They were fantastic with my furbaby dog. He got a bag of treats at check in and there was a dog bed and feeding bowl in the room. There was a dog park 1/2 block away. Many area businesses had water bowls for pets outside, including the Kimpton.
Their,shampoo,conditioner,
body and hand soap were all amazing.
Our family had a great weekend.
My only wish was that there had been a microwave and it would have been easier to get our own ice instead of having to call the front desk for it. Small inconveniences compared to the many perks.

We will definitely be returning to Kimpton hotels in the future.

Stayed at this hotel for a seminar. Hotel was very accommodating and the staff was very friendly. It's about a ten minute walk from the Dupont Metro station. Would recommend to a friend.

Beautiful hotel, clean and comfortable. There was one minor ste back that was quickly (within an hour of an email being sent) rectified by Rachel Louie, who you can tell, takes great pride in her work and making the guests happy.

Overall, a great hotel and a great value. I would stay here again.
