"The George", as locals know it, is a boutique hotel conveniently located close to Union station and Capitol Hill. I visited their French restaurant "The Bistro", and was impressed and satisfied. Portions are decent -not your usually tiny "nouvelle cuisine"- and authentically French. I especially recommend to try the rabbit

Really nice rooms but maintenance could be improved. Their 'honor bar' was very expensive and wasn't very clear to what exactly it was. Free wine on certain nights was very nice and lobby was very retro-modern looking.

Very comfortable and clean rooms. Great location to Union Station.
There was a strange sewage type of smell coming from the elevator shaft. Block your nose getting on and off. Once on or off it was fine. Strange.
The door to our room seem to let in a lot of noise. One night there was a commotion in the hallway with people carrying on and dogs barking.
Which brings up the fact that they are very dog friendly.
I would stay again to give them another try, plus, that location to Union Station is great.

Cute, small boutique type hotel. Clean and comfortable. Upscale breakfast and lunch restaurant inside. Close to capital and other areas of interest. Public parking adjacent to hotel.

I had a great experience in this hotel for two nights on business. The room was very well appointed, with a lovely shower and separate bath. The amenities were high-quality, even including a Jawbone Bluetooth speaker that I have at home and is excellent. I enjoyed the happy hour at 5 p.m. with wine in the lobby. My only suggestion would be to try to get guests to mingle a bit more, but I did very much appreciated. The gym was great, and I was the only one in it every time I used it. The attached French Bistro has excellent breakfast, and the meeting rooms for our meetings were also great.

We stayed 7 nights at Kimpton George. Our stay exceeded our expectations. Every member of the staff from front desk to housekeeping went above and beyond whenever we needed assistance or information. Our room had 2 comfortable queen size beds and a pullout sofa bed. It was spacious and clean. The separate shower and tub was great as I hate taking showers in a tub. Loved being so close to Union Station and the Capitol. We didn't take advantage of happy hour or WiFi so can't comment on those.

The Kimpton George is a nice hotel near Union Station. The area around the hotel is not that great though. We had breakfast at George. Everyone thought the food was good but the “fresh” orange juice did not pass the fresh test. Beds r comfy and housekeeping does a very nice job. Strong shower with nice extra products.

Nice hotel with a great location, but a little pricey for what you get. Decent room, beautiful bathroom, but you can tell where they tried to save money, paper products. No body likes cheap two-ply toilet paper and thin tissues. If you charge $159+ for a small standard room and $6 for a bottle of water they could at least spring for some Charmin.

- great location. All local attractions are very easily accessible by walking or bus or metro. There is a circulator stop right near by to get any where on national mall. Union Station is right nearby to take bus or metro to any where.
- Room was very nice and comfortable. I slept very soundly
- The staff was very polite and helpful
- deducting one star as the room service and prices of items in mini bar were excessively high. Four dollars for a bottle of water. For ordering food, $4 delivery charge, and then 20% service charge.

The room was clean and updated. Happy hpur wine was great at check-in which occurs from 5-6pm daily (free). Service was excellent from everyone. Elevators are slow so give yourself time to leave. Cabs were immediately available.

The room was very nice and comfortable. However, Kyra and Johnny at the front desk were wonderful! They made me feel welcome and were so polite, funny, and genuinely awesome to talk to. They made all the difference, and I will come back because of them!

I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was phenomonal. This is a beautiful hotel and the rooms and very luxurious and well appointed. I'm only sorry that I couldn't stay more than one night. The room was exceptionally clean.

I enjoyed my stay here. I was able to walk along the mall to all the museums I wanted to see in Washington. They do charge extra for wi-fi, but other than that it's a fine location.

Great hotel. Loved the presidential theme of the hotel and the room itself. Didn't get a chance to try the food, but will next time. Corner Bakery nearby is amazing as well. Room was a little small, but that's kind of to be expected. Fairly-priced.

This review is about their cafe. I had a business meeting there. The place is cozy and classy, and I would have been happy to leave a better review but unfortunately the service was a bit disappointing, like their coffee. The waitress came to take my order without giving me the menu. I said I would like to have some coffee, expecting that she would suggest some coffee options. Instead, she nodded and ran off - I guess, to get a coffee pot - without asking me what kind of coffee I'd like to get. I had to call for another service staff to clarify that I want a cappuccino. The cappuccino was ok, mediocre. Nobody ever offered me a menu during the visit so I could order something besides the coffee.

Location is very convenient to Union Station. Hotel has a funky boutique feel (the rooms are George Washington themed). During my last stay, a garbage truck woke me up very early one day, and a neighbor's alarm clock woke me the next day. So not sure it's the best spot for someone very noise sensitive. My largest dislike is actually that the hotel restaurant serves French food, and the food is quite upscale and rich. Not something you want all the time if you're a frequent visitor, and certainly not when you're ordering room service at 10:45pm after a long flight.

Very nice room. There is a daily wine happy hour, which was a nice touch. The toiletries provided by the hotel were also high quality. The location was excellent. While the valet parking might be $50, there are parking spots down the street, or failing that, at Union Station, a block away, for half the price.

Great hotel with a lot of attention to detail. Impeccable room quality and service. Very clean, child friendly, accommodating and usually fairly priced. Sure, great room view is only for the few, but definitely one of the most comfortable stay in the capital. Would recommend.

Amazing service. I had an issue where I was offered to upgrade my room at 7am via email but by 10am, the e-mailed link wasn't working. I called to inquire about it and was told that it had unfortunately expired and the offered rooms weren't available but I was upgraded anyway for no charge. Valet service was great and the restaurant inside was perfect for late night drinks and appetizers.

My wife and I recently stayed here for a getaway weekend and had a great time. We loved the theme and decor throughout the hotel and in our room. It's fun and refined at the same time. The staff at the front desk were helpful and friendly and always had a smile. I do wish our room had a better view, but that's the only real downside I can think of and of course not all the rooms in the hotel are facing the side of a building. We would definitely stay here again.

I booked this hotel after staying here earlier this year for a training. I love how centrally located it was and loved the decor of the hotel. The front desk staff and manager were so attentive. I accidentally reserved the wrong room for my son and I and they were so helpful in accommodating us with a roll away for the night and switched us to a larger room the next day. Overall, attentive & top notch service!

I enjoyed my stay at The George. The restaurant that's attached to it, Bistro Bis, was very good. The hotel itself seems a bit small compared to what I originally expected. But the overall room was a nice size. The shower stall was a bit small, but water pressure was great and hot water was very hot. It would be nice if they had complimentary breakfast, to me, that always completes my stay. One thing that sort of bugged me was that I didn't get new sheets after a day. They just made the bed with the dirty sheets. I hope they swap the sheets between guests. I wouldn't mind staying there again, but it was quite far from the attractions like Smithsonian, National Mall, White House, etc. Had to do a lot of walking, not complaining - just commenting on that.

This is my second time staying here in the past year and the hotel is beautiful, clean, the staff is FANTASTIC. My only hesitation is that it's near a shelter and this visit there were a lot of vagrants asking for money, even enough drunk in the street to alarm me with my children.
Because our family loves the Kimpton so much.

Great location to stay as a tourist in D.C. You are conveniently by the Union Station, where you can get the metro, several buses, buses to other cities, food, amenities, shopping... also you're very close to the city mall, near to the Capitol and in a very safe neighborhood. The hotel gives you a good place to sleep, with a very good bath, and all the privacy you need. You don't need to pass through the reception each time you get in or out the hotel.

This was a lovely place to stay especially since having our dog and cat this trip. The rooms are elegant with pillow and food bowls for our dog. The restaurant next door was nice, yet pricey. It is within walking distance to Union Station where many tours start and end. The only reason I gave it one less star is because at the time we came there was no bellman...so we had to get our own luggage for a family of 5. And when leaving, the security guy helped us with loading our luggage. We made it work. Nice friendly people, just that one thing was strange. Maybe they were short-handed? Who knows.

Really convenient location with national monuments, restaurants, stores all within walking distance Stayed there with my dog and they provide a dog bed and bowls and allow your pets to stay with you at no extra charge. The food from the hotel service was good (especially the steak and fries) and the ambience, decorations, staff were nice. It's valet only which is useful if you plan on going in and out of the hotel often but there's also a parking garage across the street if you just need to park once for your stay.

Service was incredibly slow for breakfast / brunch. 25 minutes from being seated before we had to hail someone to get water and coffee. Similarly, the pastry basket we ordered before food came out after our meals. The food was excellent however.

The hotel is a five minute walk from Union Station. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with a coffee maker and mini fridge. There is a free wine hour from 5:00 to 6:00. The restaurant, Bistro Bis, is fantastic. The only drawback was no breakfast is provided and the bakery around the corner is absolutely dreadful.

The hotel is in an extremely convenient location especially when you come into the city via the train. Inside the hotel everything can best be described as nice. Nicely appointed. Staff is exceptional. Front desk staff were courteous, friendly and accommodating. Happy hour is a nice touch! Close to "The Hill." Pricey but worth it, especially if you will need to be anywhere near the Capitol and congressional office buildings, and of course, Union Station.

Lovely lobby...the George Washington theme was carried throughout every detail. The staff was friendly but not over attentive. Joining Kempton Karma is worth it if only for the $10 to raid the well stocked mini bar (which includes snacks and even a "passion pack" you can purchase because there is no convenience store on the premises). The rooms are gorgeous and well laid out. My only complaint was that there was scarce light for applying makeup in the room but it wasn't a big deal. There is overnight valet for about $45 with in-and-out privileges and there's a garage across the street that charges about $24 overnight with no privileges. Great, cute, boutique hotel on The Hill.⛤

The Kimpton George is perhaps one of my personal favorite hotels. Being centrally located near Union Station was absolutely wonderful. I adored the decor, loved the robes, and appreciated that diverse spread or newspapers laid out in the lobby each morning. The staff could not have been more "on it". I totally, 100% recommend this hotel. I can't wait to go back!

Pros: Very conveniently located, staff is amazing, rooms are spacious and clean, newly renovated (based on what I've learned). They allow you to borrow some bikes. Bikes aren't in their best condition, and the one I got was a little short for me, I'm 5.8 which made rides longer than 5 miles very uncomfortable, but you hardly need to do that in DC as a tourist.

Cons: I barely ever eat or drink at the hotel, but this time I decided to have a cup of tea in my room and there was hair in my coffee machine! When I called customer service they sent someone up with a replacement machine and that one didn't work, in mean while I was dying to take a shower and rest, but I had to now stay in the room while they went up and down a few times to replace the coffee machine.

I was very impressed by my previous Kimpton experience and chose George, a Kimpton hotel, for my birthday. The hotel was chic and the staff was super friendly (they always make me feel like they are happy to work there and the positive atmosphere is contagious). What welcomed me in my room were a bottle of wine, a bottle of sparkling water, a box of 4 artisan truffles, some peanuts, a cupcake, and a hand-written birthday card. What a surprise! It was a very sweet move and really add a lot to our stay.

Having stayed at this hotel twice in the last 2 months, I can confirm that The George is a first-class hotel, with generous provisions, fantastic finishings, excellent amenities, and quality staff - with special gratitude to Kiah Conover and her colleague, Amanda, who always go the extra miles to make the stay extra special. No matter what the request is - for rate requests, early check-in, special favors during the stay, or delivering left behind items - Kiah will not only met but exceed expectations. Can't wait to return!
