Green Key Eco-Rating Program 4

With more than 1,200 hotels certified in Canada since its inception in the 1990s, the Green Key Eco-Rating Program awards hotels an environmental rating of one to five Green Keys. Green Key members are then given guidance on how to "unlock" opportunities to reduce operating costs and environmental impacts - and in turn earn more keys.

The Green Key audit looks at nine major areas of sustainable hotel operations:
• Energy conservation
• Water conservation
• Solid waste management
• Hazardous waste management
• Indoor air quality
• Community outreach
• Building infrastructure
• Land use

The Kimpton brand continues to impress me! I will continue to consider this brand when choosing where to stay! Goodland has great service, extremely clean, dog friendly and they understand the value of how pets are part of the family- you can get treats, dog bowls, bed etc at no charger. The Flat Iron steak was cooked perfectly so be sure to try the restaurant on site!

Great hotel in Santa Barbara! Nice classic looking and clean rooms. Great reception area and good breakfast. Probably great to use a swimming pool in the summer!

Normally I stay at the big 3, since it was my first time to SB, thought I'd try something diff pleasantly surprised! Super clean & comfy, excellent bar & restaurant, the whole place has been retrofitted to a 60's Beach/Surf Shack, chill retro vibes, a portable record player in every room, with a albums to check out in the lobby. You don't want to miss this place! A Must Stay!

Great staff, everyone is nice and helpful. Very interesting layout and decor. Plenty of hangout spots, inside and out. Definite central coast funky. The rooms are showing their age, however. Front doors and jambs are janky and hard to latch securely. Stuff inside rooms is old, dudes.

So cool!! I didn't get to stay I. The hotel but a buddy & I went in for a drink & the atmosphere is awesome. The bar, the outdoor area, the layout of the whole lobby & areas to walk around. I dig it.
Next time I'm in the area, I'll consider staying here too...

Great remodeled motel. Rooms were nicely decorated and common areas were great. A/c was incredibly loud but we actually liked the white noise as you can hear people outside the rooms easily. They had a 26 dollar a day resort fee that it felt like they were trying to hide as they take it out of the damages deposit, don't mention it at check in, and everything that is listed on their website that the fee covers was included anyways. Other than those issues I'd definitely stay again.

Came for drinks by the pool. Many people don't realize but you can go in the pool even if you're not an overnight guest. The drinks are pricey but you're paying for the poolside service. The inside bar is pretty sweet in of itself. Free pool, live music in the evenings, and plenty of comfy seating. The 70s beach house ambience is perfect for SB. Highly recommend jumping in the pool during summer as the beaches here just don't get as hot as in So Cal.

Trendy motel with excellent service, bar and restaurant. Nice pool area, too. All of the doors face outside and it appears to be an older motel remodeled. Rooms are spacious and it's well maintained. Air conditioner was a little noisy.

This hotel is just stunning. Big and nicely decorated room makes me feel like home. All the amenities are state of the art. I loved the central garden and pools with all those exotic plants. The on site restaurant is also amazing and they deliver food to your room. Environment is also very quiet which I appreciate. Front desk guys are very attentive. Had a nice stay in here!

Can't wait to stay here again. There are a few nice touches, like really good quality bathroom products, and in room record players (with a record room in the lobby to check out tour favorites.) Even though we didn't think wed use it, after our two nights we'd listened to all sides of the three records in our room.

We also enjoyed dinner in the restaurant, while the margarita was bland and watered down, the wings (pictured) and the mussels were extremely flavorful.

Tip, no free water in the room. Bring your own bottle and fill it up n the lobby when needed. Tip 2, cold stone ice cream like a 3 min walk for dessert.

This was such a perfect spot! The hospitality staff was beyond amazing. The hotel is kid and pet friendly while still having a very hip and modern environment. We loved the room, private patio and vinyl player in every room with vinyls in the rooms.
This is the place to stay!

The Goodland was an amazing hotel for a one night stay in Santa Barbara for a visit we made to see a concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl. Great atmosphere. Great pool. Great restaurant. Friendly staff. Comfy bed.

Hip and fun. I love that the rooms have sound machines and yoga mats so you can stretch out after a long sunny day, and who doesn't love Kimpton's wine hour? The pool was so relaxing. Good sushi like 1.4 miles away. Skip the breakfast, except for the coffee and the cold-pressed juices, which are expensive and delicious. Welcome to California!

Good, cute hotel. Good location. Probably not good enough to justify the high price, though (~$239 a night). The record store is tiiiiiiiiny. Rooms are pretty good, not particularly special in any way. Cafe is good.

Super cute boutique surf hotel! All of the little details made the environment so unique. Record players and records were included in every room for free. Also super close to downtown shops and restaurants. Only downside was check-in and check-out speed. They lost our reservation and made us wait for 20 minutes before just giving us a room:( All in all, such a fun hotel, will definitely be returning if we are return to Santa Barbara and would definitely recommend.

Not as well kept as usual Kimpton properties. Small rooms, battered furnishings ... they cater to guests with kids and pets. "Restaurant" is a bar with food service. Lobby staff and housekeeping are very friendly. It is located along acres of strip mall on Calle Real. If you need/want anything you can walk to it in five minutes. Many many restaurant choices within walking distance. 6 minutes by car from the airport.

Rooms were nice. Inviting environment, and nice people. There was an extra resort fee of $28 which was unexpected, and breakfast cost extra. Also, the disabled accessible shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor instead of draining properly. On the plus side, the people at the front desk gave a free bottle of lotion that my wife really liked because they didn't have the free sample bottles. Overall a good experience.

The hotel is essentially a motel. It has wafer thin walls so consequently is fairly noisy.
There are no tea/coffee facilities in the room.
The shower has a very old head, so the water rather dribbles out.
The room is a good size and the bed fairly comfortable.
The ok but low end budget accommodation.

Went for an office Holiday party. Had to order at the bar but food was delivered to me and was delicious. Some of us shared it was ALL good. The decor is mid century modern boho. Very fun and funky. The servers were nice and the 🍺 choices not bad. Lots of local brews and wines. In all a nice casual place.

This hotel really has a cute vibe and is decorated very well. The food and drinks are great at both the Good Bar and Outpost. Employees are all very friendly here and are very willing to help. The walls here are a bit thin.. so you can definitely hear what is going on next to you.

So torn about this place! Such a cool vibe, smores nights… record players… beautiful decor BUT our bathroom needed a serious update.. as well as a couple other things like the doors to each room. It was a really fun place though and we able to take our dog everywhere.

Wonderful hotel a little outside of Santa Barbara. Great for families and for people with dogs--as it's welcoming of pups. Fun bar and restaurant, plus a good pool. My only concern is that the rooms get a little loud during the day, as they all orbit the pool. But hopefully you'll be napping pool side, not indoors.

The menu is ambitious but doesn't deliver for the price. The best thing I have eaten there is a hamburger that's not on the regular menu. Drinks are tiny and exceedingly expensive with little punch, I had a margarita without any hint of tequila. More generous drinks, more crowd pleasers on the menu, and it could be really good. But as it stands there are better options with much better prices.

Excellent place to stay. Front desk will greet you with a cup of local beer after you checked in. Very friendly and knowledgable about places to do in the area. Our host Judi was excellent, and got us everything we needed for the night. Room are very contemporary and clean. High recommend those who are coming to Santa Barbara to check out and stay at this hotel.

Nice place, but not upscale as advertised, the rooms they are relatively small and the bathrooms are not very user-friendly. Having said that if you're looking for a quick Road side trip it's a quaint space. They are dog friendly which is both a positive and a negative as people with not well trained dogs, can keep you up at night. Also the walls are relatively thin so I would recommend if you were staying here staying towards the corner of the hotel as to share minimum same wall space with other guests.

However the place is very clean and the staff are very friendly it is also relatively easy to get around Santa Barbara while staying here has everything seems to be within 20 minutes.

The definite socal experience in the form of a hotel. It's close to quite a few restaurants, and the rooms come furnished with light reading and record players. Though clearly a former motel, the renovated decorations and attention to detail make it adorable, bringing out its own sense of charm. Sound isolation is the only problem, due to the nightlife that always seems to be alive there.

Nice little hotel thats not a major chain. Floors are laminate, so it makes it pet friendly. But that also means your bare feet will gather bits of dust and dirt. I'll definitely be coming back again.

I liked the decor, the staff was all very nice. The room was a little weird barn door style door to bathroom with opaque glass no sense of privacy. We were staying with a friend so kinda weird. Record player in room didn't work well I think the speakers were blown. Overall a nice hotel but a little pricey to stay there again I didn't feel like I got my bang for my buck. I have stayed at kimpton hotels before and have always been impressed. This one was soso.

I like very much the backyard. Its a place where you can relax while still having people around. Also the pool is very nice.

Just the room ws a bit too noisy, depending on the neighbors you get. Walls seem to be very thin... You can also hear every train passing by...

I met with friends and we just had a few happy hour drinks at the bar. One side has happy hour 4-6pm and the other side has 5-7pm happy hour. The design and furnishings were eclectic and amazing. It feels almost like a Palm Springs hotel. And the lobby had a smores bar and an open fireplace for roasting. I live in Goleta but definitely considering staying here for a night or two to see what else this hotel has to offer.

Beware of the Goodlife fee and tax! Nothing here is 'free' or 'included'. Otherwise, a nice place to stay. We found the hotel to be clean, funky, well put together, fun! Very pet friendly, 2 restaurants, close to everything. The only other negative was the service in the Good Bar for coffee and food. The server was angry and her attitude was annoyance and aggravation. Very disconcerting. Otherwise, the hotel and employees were very warm, inviting and made me want to stay longer!

This is a cute hotel with great style - very retro. We met some friends who were staying there and enjoyed our drinks and a great atmosphere. However, it sounds like they had some troubles with their room(s) and had to switch multiple times... Not sure I would stay there in the future.

Great Design Poor Service and Amenities. Hotel charges a resort fee and the only "resort" is a heated pool + 2 fire pits.
This is a converted "motel 6" into a renovated place.
The design is beautiful but, no coffee in the rooms, no small desk to put a laptop. rooms are tiny and beds are twin at best.
Restaurant and bar's morning servers were antipathetic.

Visited the Outpost bar and sat outside near the fire pit. Great atmosphere great decor. The only thing that lacked was the service. Waitress and bartender were a little slow. Love the design of the property and the rooms. Loved the fact that there's a restaurant and a bar located only feet away from my room. It also didn't hurt that I was upgraded to a pool view room at check-in. Would definitely recommend for any stay in or around Santa Barbara.

The people were really friendly and helpful. I felt like they were always willing to help me out. The hotel was close to UCSB and the beach but little ways away from Santa Barbara proper. Still it was a short trip to get to SB from Goleta (where the hotel is). Rooms had a cool retro beach vibe. It was fun but no coffee maker. They did give free in the morning though. Overall a pretty solid hotel.

Decent place to stay. Room renovations are good. Needs free Wifi something like $12/day is stupid when you can go sit at a Starbucks for free. Very young vibe. Music is loud at night, which is cool and fun if on vacation. Not so great if you worked all day and wanna unwind.

Super hip place with a younger vibe. Lots of little touches like record players in the room mixed with obvious oversights like really bad carpets. Super friendly staff, full of character, worth a trip. Would be 5 starts if the WiFi was free. Paid 235 for a King room for the night, which was a reasonable rate for a holiday weekend. Definitely coming back.
