Green Key Eco-Rating Program 4

With more than 1,200 hotels certified in Canada since its inception in the 1990s, the Green Key Eco-Rating Program awards hotels an environmental rating of one to five Green Keys. Green Key members are then given guidance on how to "unlock" opportunities to reduce operating costs and environmental impacts - and in turn earn more keys.

The Green Key audit looks at nine major areas of sustainable hotel operations:
• Energy conservation
• Water conservation
• Solid waste management
• Hazardous waste management
• Indoor air quality
• Community outreach
• Building infrastructure
• Land use
• Environmental management

LEED Silver

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) standard, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), recognizes best-in-class building strategies and practices. It certifies that green buildings meet standards of energy efficiency, conservation, and community sensitivity.

LEED-certified buildings reduce energy and water by as much as 40%. LEED-certified buildings save resources and have a positive impact on the health of occupants while promoting renewable, clean energy.

USGBC's rating system has four levels: Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Green Building Councils in other countries have similar programs.

The only reason that I even considered a staycation at the JW Marriott is that I was literally two nights from Platinum Elite, so I said...why the hell not? Might as well cross the line in style! I am so glad I did, because this JW Marriott is easily one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at.

Staff was amazing as is my usual experience at Kimptons. They accommodate even when flights get cancelled. Roof top bar and pool is fun and you can eat there. Location is perfect.

Fantastic hotel. Great pool for laps and hot tub with a decent fitness room. Close to transit too. Be sure to purchase the parking package or pay for valet a la carte. It makes life a whole lot easier.

Umm hello amazing hotel with fantastic customer service! Checking in the staff was so friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be there, everything was extremely clean and nicely decorated. My room was fantastic! Nice, clean, and spacious. After mentioning it was my birthday and that’s why I was in town...without requesting anything....one of the staff members brought me up some snacks and a bottle of wine and told me happy birthday. A very kind gesture that I didn’t even expect! Then we were told that there was a social hour on the second floor and my friends and I attended to find delicious wine and finger sandwiches and a nice area where we ended up socializing with other guests. Such a great idea! The staff told us of the awesome view by the pool so we went up to find a beautiful pool and an even better view. You could overlook everything including the Hollywood sign. The staff was truly top of the line! I couldn’t have been happier with my stay. Keep it up!! I will definitely be back 😊

Check Your Credit Card Statement!!! The hotel, room, and amenities were good. I only stayed there for one night for business (in at 10 PM and out at 730 AM). As I completed my expense report, I noticed an extra charge to my credit card for $18 after I checked out. So I had to waste my time to call the hotel to see what the charge was for and to have it removed. They added minibar charges to my stay for 2 waters I didn't drink. I was just really irritated I had to spend my time addressing this. They said i was refunded the money to my card, but I am still waiting. To be continued...

We live in the area but had to book a hotel for a night after a power outage in our neighborhood, and I'm quite glad we ended up here. First, we love the Kimpton brand of hotels and have stayed in quite a few across the US. They're always welcoming and pet friendly. When we arrived and they upgraded us to a bigger room, not sure if it was the Deluxe or Premiere room, but it was lovely and spacious. There are bikes for rent, and service was great. Valet was quick to get our car to us when we needed. The experience at this Kimpton made our stressful situation a pleasant one.

My stay here was pretty decent. Didn't get to enjoy free wine hour :( but definitely enjoyed the free coffee. The rooftop restaurant was pretty nice. Staff was super friendly. Parking was $39/night which was kinda pricey (for me). The morning we were getting ready to leave, the firealarms went off but no fire or emergency, so as you can imagine, packing up and waiting in line to checkout with an alarm blaring in your ears wasn't very pleasant but I'm sure wasn't their fault.

Great place, wonderful bathroom. The roof top is awesome with 360 degree views. The view in our room wasn't great and parking is $40/day, but it wasn't enough to detract from the overall experience. Highly recommend!

I love the modern furnishings in this hotel. The room was nice and comfortable. The front desk held our bags before check-in and after checkout. We ate at the beautiful rooftop restaurant. I had the goodness bowl and it was amazing. The location was good, short ride to The Grove and the Melrose Trading Post.

I only ate at the restaurant. I food was excellent, but service was lacking. They seemed extremely understaffed and struggled to attend everyone's needs in a timely fashion. This would not keep me from going back though. My overall experience was still pleasant.

Now this brunch spot is a nice little hidden secret. It sits on the rooftop of this hotel and you can enjoy your meal surrounding a pool on a warm, sunny day with a nearly a 360 degree view of WLA or take in shade inside while watching the goings on outside. It's a great date spot or even hang with family/friends. It's not a huge menu but it's just right.

Great staff. Comfortable room. Cool rooftop restaurant, bar, lounge, pool. Pro tip: If you're arriving after 10:30pm on a weekday, don't plan on eating a late meal there. Kitchen closes at 10:30pm and there is nothing open in the area.

We stayed here for a visit to the La Brea Tar Pits and the LACMA. This is a great location because it's close to those museums plus several other museums/attractions. We parked in the garage under the hotel and walked everywhere we wanted to go. Four of us stayed in the room which had 2 queen beds, plus a separate living room and bathroom. And the rooftop bar/restaurant/pool was a fantastic bonus. The only issue we had with the room was the the glass barn door to the bathroom and toilet didn't stay closed and kept sliding open, so that was annoying. But that's the only issue. Another tip: if you stay here and want snacks/water, instead of paying the high cost of the mini-bar, there is a big dollar store just down the street with all that stuff.

Love the hotel. It is in a great location to drive anywhere in the LA area. The staff even found out that it was my girlfriend's birthday and surprised her with a prosecco bar and a personal hand written note in our room after we checked in! Would definitely stay here again.

I visited California for the first time last summer and we stayed at this hotel. The room was amazing and all the staff was genuine & so so sweet. It happened to be my birthday when we came and they brought me this cute little tray with fruit & dessert. They were also very helpful when it came to what sightseeing tours to go on and what tourist attractions to go to. I hope to come back to Los Angeles for my senior trip and if I do, I will definitely try and stay here.

Good drinks, relaxing atmosphere, most spots were shaded. It would be torture to sit at one of the tables in the sun though. The pool on the roof is really small, appears to be there more for decoration.

The view from the rooftop dining venue is fantastic. But as with most restaurants with a view the food is substandard and calling the menu "limited" is being kind. Due to the proximity to the pool, all drinks are served in plastic. Understandable, yet still off putting.

Not the biggest rooms, but it's LA. Quality of room was high. Great staff. And I really enjoyed having a glass of wine in the evenings, on the roof, while looking out over LA.

AMAZZING SERVICE!! Ceaser and Karen were my favourites, they were so helpful and lovely. Anytime we had a question they'd always answer and google it if they didn't know. Really lovely upstairs restaurant at affordable prices, servers aren't too fussy or pressuring about tips either if you're a forgein tourists. The rooms were so clean and REALLY spacious and the cleaners are so quick and efficient. Every morning we'd leave for breakfast and they'd be quick to work their way around the room before we came back. If you're looking for a good, affordable hotel with FIVE STAR service, this is the hotel for you!

At first I was prepared to slam the Kimpton for a variety of issues - shower drain backed up, room phone not working, carpet stains - that I wouldn't expect in a trendy boutique hotel that this place seems to aspire to be. But then, when we informed of the shower issue when we were checking out, they comped us all of our incidentals, totaling$200, for parking and drinks at the bar. I hope they fix the issues on going, but they definitely made a fan of us.

Visited The Roof bar/restaurant for a late lunch in a group of three on 1/16/17. We picked this place because we've previously enjoyed it. Unfortunately, our visit the other day was really disappointing. Service was so slow in between each and every server interaction, starting with us having to track someone down to be seated, and ending with us taking our card to the bar because no one came back to pick up the check. The food and drinks also seemed to be just okay, when usually they're delicious. Not sure if this was an off day because of a staffing issue or what, but we were pretty disappointed in our whole experience. We'll probably visit again, but it's not going to be our go-to any more.

I stayed here celebrating my 50th birthday, and to ring in 2016 in style! I loved this old grand hotel! I loved it! It's a quirky old beautiful hotel! My room was lovely, intimate, and except for the street trumpeter who seemed to only know one verse of Edelweiss, rather quiet! Yes the bathrooms are small but STU! We made an appointment at 10 pm. It was our first time there. The place closed at 11. Nobody told us how rush we were gonna be. As our first time we had no idea on what to order and I even tool my in laws and uncle. We literally had to order our food as we sat down and by the time the food was out we had about 30 min. It was 11 15 when they brought our desserts and they literally kicked us out after that. We couldn't finish our dessert. We had to take it to go. The food was good. I'm just not happy how they didn't explain to us that by 11 we had to be gone.

What a wonderful find. From the outside The Hotel Wiltshire maintains all the charm of old Los Angeles. Beautiful rose bushes, herb garden, and the cutest little pomegranate bush outside our door. On the inside all the modern comforts you could expect. Flat screen TV with premium cable, fridge microwave, coffee maker, iron, hair dryer and more. The room was very clean and well maintained. Our room was recently renovated and was superb. The free breakfast was well stocked and delicious with great coffee . Robert at the front desk gave us great tips on local sights and the best ways to get there.

Another Kimpton hotel delivers! Beautiful hotel, excellent customer service from every single employee and a great rate for what you get. Love being a Kimpton rewards member, too. *Oh, and I added a note that we were staying there to celebrate a birthday and they left a wonderful welcome surprise for us in the room. A fruit & nut snack tray complete with a chilled bottle of champagne and a handwritten birthday note. Lovely!

Valet service is awesome with really nice folks. The facility is pretty... HOWEVER a, my room reservation was changed WITHOUT notice and downgraded at least two room types. I'd gone to their hotel for the Santa Monica suite, for crying out loud. They did bump us up to the Sunset suite because they didn't have any Santa Monica suites available. What?!? I was seriously irritated and the $50 credit didn't make that better. I WILL NOT utilize this hotel again, even though I like the Kimpton change.

Contemporary. Sleek. Modern. Tech Savvy. What am I describing? No, not a new smartphone or tablet. Not a new luxury car or pc either. These are the adjectives I use when describing The Hotel Wilshire.

The Hotel Wilshire was not at all what I expected – but in a good way. Upon arrival the narrow valet with entrance similar to a New York parking garage, I must say was daunting, but once inside the NY vibe disappeared. A modern, glass, crisp interior awaited. I may not be the typical traveler, then again, maybe I am as I travel with two mobile phones, a tablet, and at least two laptops (among other things); and the ability to use my devices as if I’m at home is usually not a luxury. However, I was wrong this time and The Hotel Wilshire delivered in spades meeting my demand. I’m not sure what inspired such tech savvy, but wall a mounted dock for HDMI, VGA, S-Video, RGB, IPOD / IPHONE / IPad, LAN, USB, and audio? Mitsubishi climate controls, LED lighting, Wi-Fi that wasn’t anemic, and more. I had to ask myself: “Where am I?” Is this a sort of Shangri La?

In addition to the technical “everything” I just mentioned, the room is styled oh so well. I am a high rise dweller that enjoys modern decor with a hint of minimalist I couldn’t have picked a better place. One will note ample closet space and a sexy chaise with hidden storage below. Quite possibly the softest bed and pillows in my last six months of travel, crisp and clean lighting and a bath with are utterly sleek surfaces. I also note the intense cleanliness of the room, not a spot on the shower glass – noticeable. The interior design is perfect for one week, one month, or whatever your stay. Mind you: I’m not even discussing the great rooftop pool in this review!

If you are looking for something traditional with dark woods, and earthy furnishings this may not be the place for you. If you are looking for a modern room with technical flair, I recommend you visit this weekend. A new addition to my “Best List”, The Hotel Wilshire is all Aces in my book!
