My mom surprised me for my birthday by staying here. She did some major research to find the most memorable hotel and she hit the nail on the head with this gem! It's absolutely stunning hotel within walking distance of where Hamilton was playing along with many other amazing restaurants. They had a bottle of champagne and sweets as well as a hand written birthday card! They take the extra step to make you feel special! They're also dog friendly which hits a soft spot in my heart! I highly recommend this hotel for all it's beautiful things!!

Great hotel in the heart of Chicago. Fantastic amenities and eateries attached to the hotel with many others in close walking distance.

The thing that separates this hotel though is all of the team on the doors and running the bags. They are the best we have encounter, super friendly, super cool and very informative!

Definitely the place to stay in the heart of Chicago!

This is a good spot to stay in this area of the loop. This is a more modern and hip hotel over some of your more popular options. I like the free offerings of coffee and ice coffee in the am, ice tea around check-in and wine around 5 pm every day. A very friendly and service oriented staff.

Amazing experience!! I booked this hotel as a surprise birthday gift for my wife and did the staff (thank you Alexis, Bobby, and Paul) deliver on service. When we checked in, Alexis upgraded us to a spacious junior king room. She was friendly and inviting and wished my wife a happy birthday.

The room was large and the bathroom was amazing!! The bed was perfect in every way and the room was quiet which made for restful sleeps. Shortly after we arrived and settled in, Paul delivered a birthday surprise that was nothing short of spectacular. A bottle of bubbles, fresh fruit, popcorn, and a birthday cupcake.

Bobby is the concierge and is ready to help with everything through text or in person. He helped to get us some Cubs tickets and recommended where to go before the game.

When in Chicago be sure to stay at the Kimpton Gray. You won't be disappointed. Easy to get anywhere location and only a 5 minute walk from the river walk and Millennium park.

Spacious, modern and exceptionally clean rooms. Attentive and friendly service, free coffee, tea and water all day in the lobby. Everyday from 5-6pm it's happy hour and there's lots of free wine and vodka soda. Excellent location and with 8 elevators - 8 ELEVATORS! Never wait more than 10 seconds for one. Will definitely be back!

A perfect experience. Beautiful design.

Customer service - the ENTIRE staff is so hospitable. Martin and Bobby truly went the extra mile in welcoming us upon arrival. It was an idealistic check-in.

Location - couldn't be better. You're blocks from everything. Accessibility is top.

Speaking of top - you have to visit the rooftop bar/lounge Boleo. I think it's downtown's best kept secret. Delicious drinks and tapas style plates.

Rooms - CLEAN and very stylish. Comfortable bed, etc.

Overall - 5/5. I had had a disappointing experience at another Chicago hotel on the gold coast before and I'm so grateful that I chose to stay here instead.

Lots of special extras to make the stay beyond comfortable!

Genuinely pet friendly with welcoming staff and even a pet bed and food/water bowls in the room! I love that they were thoughtful about my fur baby's comfort as well as mine!

This hotel is beautiful. The rooms are larger than most downtown hotels and the corridors make it feel more like a condo than a hotel. Everything is lovely!

My coworker and I loved the free wine social hour before heading out to work dinners each night. The wine was good, the space is lovely, there was a cello player, and there was a tasty appetizer served with it each day. A wonderful experience!

The room has lots of outlets in the bedside tables so you don't have to plug things in across the room or move furniture looking for one.

Restaurant, cafe/juice bar, spa and shop all within the hotel. Yet this hotel does not feel overwhelming like a mall the way the Hilton and some others do. It is beautiful, quiet, and comfortable.

The hotel was nice. Our room was fairly spacious for one in downtown Chicago. We have stayed in others where you can almost touch both walls with your arms spread. The staff was friendly and it is in a great location. We walked to the field museum and millennium park is just down the road. There are restaurants all over nearby from McDonald's to really expensive fancy places. We had a great stay here.

Lovely place! Everything was excellent. As soon as I arrived everyone was very friendly and helpful. I arrived really early to the city and the hotel was very helpful to find a room for me before check-in time. I really liked the hotel's style, my room was very nice with an amazing view. Location is very convenient. I highly recommend it.

We had a fantastic stay here!! The hotel is so pretty, great location, easy to get around the downtown area. The staff was great, let us check in early, and definitely customer service centered. They have a text message concierge service which we used way more than we thought we would. We would just text them when we were out to ask for a restaurant suggestion and they would always answer very quickly. The complementary wine hour was just the cherry on top!! We loved it and would definitely stay there again!

Beautiful hotel in Chicago's financial district. Customer service is good. There are a few restaurant options with good food & drinks. The "library" is a gorgeous place to hangout. The rooms are well appointed. They offer wine hour from 5-6. Best of all you can bring your dog.

Had a fabulous stay here. All the staff I've encountered have been welcoming and helpful. The option to text the front desk when you need something is a nice feature. The room is spacious, with comfy beds, clean, and modern decor. The bathroom has a huge walk-in shower. Very quiet, don't hear people in the hallway or doors slamming. Definitely added to my great weekend away!

The Kimpton Gray is one of my favourite hotels to stay in. The entire experience is markedly thoughtful and hospitable. Both in form - gorgeous decor, a shower size that I can actually dance in - and function - text message check-ins ("can I get you anything?"), placement/abundance of USB plug-ins. The sociability of the hotel experience is also wonderful (lobby champagne hour!).
The Kimpton Gray in Chicago was my first Kimpton hotel and turned me into a massive Kimpton fan. I've since stayed at other locations, but this one remains my favourite

Love it here! Rooms are well-appointed and in-house food and beverage is incredible (I'll come again just for cocktails or a meal). Staff felt genuinely warm and were very attentive and helpful. I'm a sucker for good design which Kimpton hotels generally have in spades. The Gray's individual design elements are each beautiful and up to Kimpton standards, but feel disjointed. Minor complaint!

We had a really nice stay. Rooms are on the small side, but very nicely furnished. It's too bad they don't let guests use the event room that has a pool table when there's no event being held. Good location downtown. The concierge, Bobby Gonzalez, is amazing. He was able to get me very difficult to procure dinner reservations and also arranged flowers to be delivered to my room to surprise my wife for our anniversary. We would definitely stay again.

We spent our last night in Chicago here and were sad we didn't stay here sooner! We had stayed at 2 other hotels downtown and this one was by far the best. Great customer service from Alexandra at check-in and the entire team there. Everyone was very helpful. The room itself was so pretty and very clean. Will definitely be recommending this hotel!

Newly remodeled, this place was an excellent stay. Felt great, looked great and it centered location wise exactly where I needed to be. The restaurants serve food that is good enough but there are plenty of options especially in Chicago.

We upgraded to a spa room and it was well worth it. Huge tub and walk in shower. Excellent staff - very welcoming.

My wife and I came here for part of my birthday gift and also our anniversary. The hotel seemed very nice to us. Lots of detailed marble in the first and second floor, friendly staff and the rooms were nice. The rooms seemed really recently updated with nice finishes. The only complaint I had with the room was in the bathroom the shower stall has one single glass panel covering about half the length of the shower. The back half is open with no door so it was not the warmest shower. Still, the room was nice. Nice selection of tea to drink in the morning. They are a dog friendly hotel... So if you love dogs, you're good there. Had umbrellas to use and maybe even a bike? Would stay there again

Lovely hotel with wonderful, friendly staff! Very helpful to us when checking in; they just smiled through my noisy dog barking at check in! Beautiful room in nice location! Very close to lots of shops, millennium park, and more! Super accommodating to pets! I only had a short stay, but it was very enjoyable! Food was nice and gourmet, tasty too! Spotless rooms also!

The most stand out aspect of Vol 39 at Kimpton Grey is the peerless teamwork; the level of coordination between servers, waitstaff and management worked as a single machine that provided amazingly attentive and personable service.

This is not to say that the myriad list of creative beverages was any less than top tier with flavors and styles for any palate, the range of small plates was good as well. The dessert options were also extensive with a delightful trolley loaded with various candies and confections.

The ambiance was sublimely low key with lighting, furniture and decor that encouraged a relaxing atmosphere. I attended this particular evening to see local favorite performers Brooklyn Britches and the Whispers who were a masterful addition to the setting, adding music and class that matched the surroundings.

A most excellent venue to enjoy with company, having taken my family out to demonstrate the variety and caliber of Chicago nightlife, the Kimpton Grey was a perfect choice.

Everything about this hotel is 5 star. I came here with some friends last weekend to celebrate my 30th birthday. It was incredible! Everyone was so nice and made sure we had everything we needed. They even sent up a complimentary bottle of champagne for my birthday! Michelle was so wonderful as well as everyone we interacted with. This is the second Kimpton hotel I've stayed at and I don't think I'll ever stay anywhere else. Thank you for the fantastic stay!

My wife and I enjoyed our stay here while in Chicago. The people whom we encountered at the hotel we really friendly and seemed happy to help out, if needed. The hotel itself is really nice with a lot of marble on the first and second floor and nice rooms. The rooms are updated and have ample lighting and space. The only drawback I had with the bathroom was that the shower doesn't have a door. There's a stationary glass panel that covers half the opening but the other half remains open. The shower head doesn't give a full body cover so it becomes cold when taking a shower due to the warmth escaping. Being that the shower is only a minor part of the hotel, I still give it 5 stars but really think the showers could use doors on them.

This is a pretty nice hotel. The rooms are very spacious with everything you need. My shower was huge and actually had the bathtub inside it. Very interesting design. The restaurant was great. I recommend the pork. The restaurant staff was very friendly. Walking distance from the Willis Center and many other places downtown.

We've stayed at the one in Milwaukee and it was such a great stay we decided to stay at the Gray for our anniversary. Reception staff were kind and welcoming and had complimentary wine and rum and cider hour. We went to Vol. 39 and also Steadfast the next morning (both restaurants were a part of Kimpton) and both had amazing customer service and great food! Kimpton also has a reward program and you can get perks by joining for free. My husband and I have decided that we're only staying at Kimptons from now on!

Very nice boutique hotel with elegant finishes. I hate the trend of the open shower with no door - you stand there cold for a few minutes until the entire bathroom steams up. $65 parking is a punch in the gut, but what can you do? It's downtown Chicago. Overall, pretty good experience.

Stayed one night. Service was amazing. Hotel was in tip top shape. Room was amazingly clean, had a well stocked mini bar. We parked around the corner for $25 vs $60 for valet in and out. Bed was very comfortable, bar on 15th floor was excellent for a night cap. Will probably stay here in two weeks when we are back.

Very nice hotel. Comfortable mattress and room was great. Only complaint is that the shower water pressure kinda sucked and it's an open entry to the shower so it can get a little chilly in there. Otherwise we had a wonderful stay and it's a very convenient location.

Everything about the kimpton in Chicago was perfect! The ambiance of the hotel felt very European and decorated beautifully. The front desk was extremely helpful and welcoming and handed us each a glass of complimentary wine before we went upstairs. The room itself was perfect size and cozy and intimate, perfect for the occasion. Will definitely book a room here again!

My family and I had the pleasure of staying at the Kimpton Grey Hotel in Chicago. This hotel is a top-notch boutique hotel situated in the heart of the financial district and within walking distance to restaurants, shops and Michigan Ave. Beautifully renovated throughout, the rooms are spacious with great decor. Best of all the service is impeccable. From the gentlemen at the front door to the concierge at the front desk to the General Manager, all are very welcoming and professional. Thank you Nabil and staff for the hospitality. Looking forward to our next visit.

Decent location - near the park and theaters but a but farther from the nightlife in River North. Room was big with a comfortable bed and the bathroom was huge. The hotel itself is very nice, and service was generally good (though it was a much to long wait to get our bags back that they were holding after checkout).

I checked in on Friday for Pokemon Go Fest event with my wife. The front desk completely ignored my profile requesting higher floor room and didn't ask me if 3rd floor room was OK. The lady simply gave me the door keys. Once inside the room, we could hear the street traffic. To their credit, they apologized and changed my room after my protest. Other than this incident, everything was good. The bed and the decorations were really nice and top-notched. The front desk was responsive and friendly.

The staff were very helpful and pleasant during our two night stay. The room, while somewhat small, used the available space well and looked to be very well maintained. Location was great, as we were just a quick walk from Michigan Ave. I cannot say enough positive things about the Kimpton Gray. We will definitely stay again in our future travels to Chicago.

I love everything about the hotel except the shower. When we checked in, it happened to be wine hour and we were handed a glass of wine. The room was modern, clean, the bed was comfortable. The only thing I don't like was the modern step in shower with a half wall and the water gets all over the floor. This was my only complaint about the entire experience.

Fantastic hotel. It was only 9 months old when we stayed - the room felt new. The customer service was fantastic with Bronte at the front desk testing to ask about our stay and Sam providing recommendations. We also rode the Kimpton bikes across the Lakeshore trail. I normally don't write reviews good or bad, but I MUST write this about the Kimpton Gray Hotel. While there are so many options in Chicago I highly recommend this hotel because of the staff. During my week long stay here for work I found myself very sick. I called down to the front to see if room service could bring me some plain chicken noodle soup and Gatorade. These are not items they have on the menu or even in the building, yet Hapi at the front desk took my order and Sam, one of the concierge went out and got me soup and Gatorade like I asked and brought it up to my room. When I checked out at the end of my stay none of this was charged to my bill. This may seem small but to me it spoke VOLUMES!! We all know some hotels tend to nickel and dime you for everything. This staff helped me and took EXCELLENT care of me during a time where I wasn't able to help myself. Not to mention the excellent rooftop bar, convenient wine happy hour, and clean and chic rooms. I absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone and will most definitely be back!

First class hotel. I've stayed in a lot of top Chicago hotels and this is at the top of the list. White marble everywhere, interior decor is top notch from the restaurants to lobby to elevators to rooms, great beds, linens, etc. Can't believe they came within a month of tearing down this building, Kimpton should be commended for taking it to this level of product.

Amazing Service from the curb to our room. Everyone is so friendly & knowledgeable. Miles, Bobby & Ash were fabulous! Extremely helpful with Willis Tower tickets, getting us on the Architectural Boat tour- last minute & tips for food! Hosted happy hour is in a lovely seating area. The 15th floor restaurant Bolero was a nice way to finish our evening out, the hostesses quickly made a space for the 4 of us to sit. Many flavors of ice cream/sorbets to choose from, we picked the coconut lime ice cream, incredible! Ordered the "Come up for Coffee" -an iced coffee with amaretto & banana liquor, not what I was expecting, but pleasantly surprised! Rooms are very chic/hip. Love the colors; white, deep gray & robin's egg blue. Housekeeping is fantastic, upon returning to our room the bed made, sink was tidied up, fresh towels & glasses. Very impressed & spoiled by Kimpton Gray! Looking forward to our next Kimpton experience!

Beautiful lobby, everything is very grand. The rooms are very nice, but the bathrooms are what really shine! I don't know how they keep the glass and marble so clean and shinny.. Joking aside, I would definitely stay here again! Plus the location puts in walking distance of most everything.

Vol. 39 bar has an excellent atmosphere and high quality drinks/wine selection. Service was very good but you delayed due to volume. Not something I would hold against a place because there is not a rushed atmosphere at all, but maybe not the best for a quick in and out.

I don't stay in hotels this nice very often. It might me the nicest hotel I've ever stayed. Housekeeping went the extra mile, replaced my ice so I had cold beer in my room on day two. Loved the Gray! In a gorgeous setting (marble everywhere) at a great location. We were able to walk everywhere we had come downtown for. This hotel was very modern and very well decorated on the inside. They are very accommodating and provide you with pretty much anything you could need. They allow pets without a deposit and are very friendly towards them.
While staying here I had two problems. The first being that you are charged 65$ per day for parking. But they don't tell you this until you get there. So you are already booked and can not cancel. So instead of paying the 125$ per night that I was informed of I was charged close to 500$ for a two night stay.
My second issue was that when I was leaving I texted the valet to get my car 30 minutes before I needed to leave. And this is at 430am so it's not like they're extremely busy of anything. So I go down at 5am and they tell me they can't reach valet. So finally after finally getting to them I got my car at 530 an hour after I requested my vehicle. I just don't feel that after paying 65$ per day this is good service.

We had drinks in the main floor bar. It was full, so we stood by the windows, which was okay but not ideal. It's a low-light, contemporary decor place. Not innovative, but nicely done. The cocktails were VERY tasty. I had a Punch Drunk Love, and it was perfect for a holiday happy hour. My friends had drinks with very creative ice.

Exquisite hotel has 2 restaurants, a wine hour everyday between 5pm and 6pm in the gorgeous sitting room on the 2nd floor. All the staff was amazing, they went over and beyond to make my experience memorable. I will definitely be a repeat guest.

My husband and I stayed at The Kimpton Gray overnight on November 22nd, 2016. This was the third time that we stayed at a Kimpton hotel, and just like our previous two experiences, we really enjoyed our stay this time as well! The staff members at the Kimpton Gray Hotel were polite and helpful. From the lady who checked us into the hotel when we first arrived to the gentlemen who opened the door for us when we entered and exited the hotel, each of them made us feel welcome and respected. The room we had was on the sixth floor. It was pretty spacious and clean. The bed was nice and firm, and there were enough pillows for both of us. We loved their shower as well because it looked brand-new, modern, and spacious. There was a social hour from five to six in the evening which we wished that we didn't miss. We enjoyed the social hour during our previous two stays. The fitness room has updated exercise equipments and is spacious as well. Overall, we had a wonderful stay amd will for sure return to the Kimpton Gray Hotel again, or any other Kimpton hotels!

Usual outstanding stay at a Kimpton hotel. This was our first time at the Gray, but have stayed at the other Kimpton hotels in Chicago. , and havery always had a good experience. The Gray has a great location, right near everything. The rooms are nice and stylish. The staff were great - friendly and helpful. We always try to stay at Kimpton hotels when we visit Chicago - they are really outstanding!

Stayed overnight while seeing a show at the Private Bank theatre. Great room with a comfy king bed and big walk-in shower. Some noise from outside overnight, but that's to be expected downtown. Service at the front desk was nice with information about nearby restaurants and attractions. Would definitely stay there again.

Very sophisticated, original and classy hotel. Service is terrific, the room is inspired and you can't beat the view. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone valuing a good night's sleep in an amazing neighborhood.

Great rooftop bar. Wine and cocktails were very good. Only drawback was food menu was to much seafood thought more beef from that area of the world.

I was at the steadfast for lunch. Hands down, the very best burger of my life. Great service and atmosphere. Loved it.

Steadfast has an incredible menu. The bread and pastry selection was expansive. I particularly enjoyed the rhubarb desert.
