The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto. A superb hotel in the center of Kyoto city. Located next to the Kamo river, the hotel patrons enjoy a beautiful view of cherry blossom trees in spring and golden view of the autumn season. You can take evening strolls along the river. A place worth staying and visiting.

Stayed in a Grand Deluxe Kamagowa Riverview room. Very spacious and the aesthetic of the hotel is “Japanese minimalism” …beautiful yet stark. Galley style bathroom and dressing area is a bit tight, but living space was very nice. There is no lobby “buzz” and it’s rare that you see other guests except at breakfast and dinner times. Western breakfast buffet had limited selection, but was very good. Cappuccino were outstanding. Rented bicycles from the hotel each day, which was a wonderful way to get around the city for shopping and site seeing.

Really wonderful stay.

The location is quite good, next to river and 10 min walking away from both imperial park and busy sections of restaurants and shopping

The service is spectacular. They have amazing selection of complimentary activities from bike rides to hiking to kids treasure hunting. Many are private group sessions by request - I can’t believe these are complimentary. The morning bike rides for example were excellent. Also great concierge - do feel free to email ahead any question or wishes, and of course in person

The room itself is not bad either. We were told we got upgraded to garden view and while bracing for some boring public garden the way they did it was actually quite good and we end up enjoying it. Pretty spacious too for Japan.

All in all - the best ritz Carlton I have stayed at by far.

This is by far my favorite hotel. Had 2 stays here during peak season (fall foliage), and still got upgraded both times.
The rooms themselves are clean and large, and the view from the Kamogawa room is simply spectacular. You can feel in lots of different places within the room that they are really attentive to details. The sencha provided tastes really good, and the strawberries were very sweet.

They have Japanese and Western breakfast options. Although I personally prefer the Japanese one, they were amazing.

However, what makes the hotel stand out is the staff. Despite being peak season, they are always friendly and eager to help, and always with a welcoming smile. I once left my jacket in the restaurant when we were out for lunch, and upon hearing that, the staff immediately helped call the restaurant to schedule a time for me to pick it up. We will definitely come back in the future.

Perfect, perfect! Expensive but worth every penny (yen). The service is impeccable, the room is insanely luxurious and the location is fantastic. The room is very large by any standard let alone Japanese ones. Beautifully designed and makes me want to redecorate when I get home. Can't wait to return!...

We were not guests at this hotel, but we went to the spa. The spa experience was absolutely amazing! From the welcome to the amenities to the actual treatment, the Ritz staff treated us like queens. Make extra time to sit in the relaxation room for some quiet time before and after your treatment; you’ll be glad you did! The staff also knew it was a celebration for my mom so they gave her a sweet little gift and a hand written card! The extra touches truly made this experience amazing.

This is truly a high class experience that makes you feel welcome. The moment you arrive you are greeted and taken care of (without feeling suffocated). I lost my wallet in the cab I arrived in and without a receipt or anything to help track it down, the RC got it back to me with-in 2 hours!! Blown away by every small detail in this gorgeous hotel. Def recommend the sushi bar for it's amazing fish quality and cascading waterfall backdrop. They offer many complementary activities for solo travelers or families (the electric bike ride along the river to a temple was stunning) so make sure to take advantage. Can't say enough nice things about this hotel. 100% recommend.

Can't say enough good things about the service here. My wife was feeling a bit ill when we arrived, so we planned on spending a few hours in the lobby just relaxing while they got our room ready. When I told Mika this, she got our room ready for us immediately and checked us in. Relaxing for a bit made us both feel better and quite literally saved Kyoto for us. Beyond the excellent service it's everything you'd expect from a lux hotel. Beautiful room design, great amenities, and friendly staff. Worth every penny.

The hotel is well maintained since the opening in 2014. Serving and housekeeping are excellent. The location is 10mins away from Kyoto station by taxi, which is convenient and comfortable enough for leisure stay. The washroom are clean and facilities such as doors, pipes and drainage are well maintained, smooth and quiet.

Japanese breakfast are well-prepared and more than enough to start my day.

This has to be one of the nicest ways to spend your time in Kyoto. Peaceful and adjacent to the river, the Ritz is a small luxury hotel in Kyoto. Though the prices in Yen or hotel points may be out of the price range during peak season, we found it an excellent way to spend a weekend.

I highly recommend taking the bike tours (ours was with Aqua!), which take you to some of the city's best sights before the crowd. The picture from the tour is something we will cherish for years to come.

Also make sure to stop by the Michelin starred tempura restaurant located in the hotel. I have not had tempura this good since!!

Very beautiful hotel by the river. The staff were so helpful. Greet you off your car and escort you to the restaurant. Happy to show you around the hotel. The tempura restaurant is great. Make sure you sit at the bar counter where the chef will serve you piece by piece. Try the sparkling sake!
Water feature outside the lobby is a great selfie spot.

The place is strongly beautiful however I found the service to be quite lacking. The lunch I had also took about 40 minutes. Far too long for a hotel of this reputation.

amazing and beautiful hotel with great amenities and service, including free bike tours and a swimming pool/sauna/steam room. Loved the breakfast and dinner at the hotel restaurants as well as the in-hotel Pierre Hermes shop. Very convenient location near the subway station, ippodo tea shop, and shopping arcades. highly recommend if you can afford it!

Exceptional service and wonderful activities! We had an exquisite sake tasting with and sake sommelier which I didn't not existed. Kate was a wonderful guide on our morning bike ride tour. Beth had great food and sight seeing tips. The property of beautiful and in a great location, made getting around the city easy for us. I would definitely come back and recommend anyone and everyone to stay here.

My partner and I made use of the deep tissue massage service at the spa. The staff were supremally friendly and the accommodations made the wait for our appointment comfortable. The massage itself was good, though the price paid was really inclusive of the accommodations of the entire experience; which was relaxing and worth having.

Marvellous upscale hotel in Kyoto. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and elegant. Everything single individual of the staff is super nice, helpful and proactive. The Japanese breakfast served at the restaurant is simply amazing and generous. The hotel is also located in a central position, not far from some temples and subway stations. This Ritz-Carlton hotel combine the high quality of the brand with the great Japanese hospitality!

9

The ultimate in luxury for hotels in Kyoto. If you are looking for the best accommodations to be had in Kyoto look no further. The hotel is a perfectly designed oasis. The staff goes above and beyond your typically service industry friendliness to give a truly unique experience that you will remember and talk about. The Concierge is well versed in all things Kyoto and can make recommendations and reservations. The pool and spa area is relaxing and refreshing. Be warned that this all comes at a steep cost. This hotel is certainly not for bargaining hunters.

Modern luxury in a fantastic location that's walkable to many sights. Amazing staff ready to help at every turn. Great concierge service helped us secure restaurant reservations before we arrived. Interesting and comprehensive list of guided activities if you're inclined (we loved the early bike ride to Fushimi Inari shrine). Nicest sheets I've ever slept in. The RC Kyoto sets a very, very high bar.

True definition of luxury. We were pampered even before arriving as Mr Smekens reached out to us for any special requests for the family. We were welcomed and personally escorted by Arisa as soon as we reached the front door to our room for checkin details. The decor is beautiful, modern with Japanese influence and down right comfortable. They have thought of everything for us; from the daily guest entertainment activities, the muse before our meal, the self illuminating light in the walk in closet to the Nespresso coffee machine for addicts like me. We were totally relieved of our exhaustion. We'll come back to Kyoto just to stay here again.

One of the best experiences I've had staying at a hotel. The hotel is located right next to the river and within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. The staff at the Kyoto Ritz-Carlton were extremely polite and helpful. The concierge was very knowledgeable of the Kyoto area. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and accomendating.

The service and staff are amazing. The front office manager e-mailed us before arrival and asked us if we had any special requests. We requested to have these snacks from Kyoto that are very hard to get. When we checked in, they offered it as a gift to us in our room. What service!
