Good bedding, nicely sized rooms, super noisy on the front ( room on 13th floor on Lexington Avenue) even with earplugs. Not quite as bad as a Mumbai street but American drivers do honk a lot. Bathroom decent sized not the cleanest, (hair and stuff on sink), a colleague had bath tub reflux in the middle of the night. No breakfast at all, cost of 250 US$ (incl. Taxes) is quite steep, I guess this is the cost of Location, Location, Location : 5 minutes from Grand Central, 10 from UN-HQ, 20` from Broadway & Time Square. Mind you it is way better value than nearby Pod.

I'm from Louisiana and I can to NYC to have an operation. So I was at Roger Smith Hotel for 9 days. The Staff was very concerned about my health and made sure I did not have to carry any bags. They brought us ice for my surgery site. The RSH is very clean and has very friendly and helpful staff. Thank you Roger Smith Hotel for making my stay as comfortable as possible. :)

Great location in the city, near Gran Central Station. Small, artsy, familiy-owned hotel. We had a pleasant stay, staff members were very welcoming. They offer complimentary yogurt :)
Rooms were clean, nice toiletries offered. Keep in mind the hotel is old, nothing modern, but very well kept. Our room had microwave and mini fridge, we stacked with snacks for our midnight cravings.

A nice hotel in a well located area in Manhattan. An old building which is almost a rule for a. Hotel in NY, with some elegant touches. An always convenience coffee lounge completes a very dedicated staff at the lobby. Beds are extremely comfortable and all places always looks clean. It is expensive but again this is another hotel rule in ny. Located in Lexington av. everything is reachable.

The most comfortable beds and soft sheets, so glad we stayed here. Shower had a bathtub and super clean. Hot water is a little tricky but that's the neat part. Our room was in front of the elevator and we had a view of the city. It could be a little noisy for some, but you can turn the A/C on and sleep like a baby day and night. Hotel still provides toothbrushes, toothpaste and a sewing kit! You can tell the hotel has lots of history and it's neat to see the old style furniture. I'm glad it's kept like this!! Our first time in NY and everyone at the hotel was beyond helpful with directions to the city. We loved our stay here!

When ever I am in New York I stay at the Roger Smith hotel. This past month I resided there for 10 days and enjoyed it immensely. The staff is knowledgeable, kind, and even fun to chat with. I especially resonate to their focus on the arts with the support of visual and other art forms. My room was large, newly painted and decorated and helped me feel at home and relaxed. The location is terrific too. Close to museums, the beautiful east river walking path, near both Bryant and Central parks. In my experience this is a FIVE star hotel. Stay here, you will be delighted.

Great place. My wife and I loved the old building. Yes, it's old and yes it's got some issues but what a cool building. The staff were great; we walked in off the street looking for a room at 8am and were in bed by 8:30.

Wanted to go out to dinner and took a long time to check me in because their stystem was malfunction. Once checked in the espresso machine in the room didn't work. The room was spacious and quirky if that's your thing. However, decent stain on the carpet was a little gross.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The hotel definitely takes you to an earlier time, with its historical vibe! The staff was friendly and helpful, and we really appreciated the yogurt and granola station. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and great views. Perfect location in NYC! Would definitely stay again!

This is my fav find in NYC it's like a little ( fairly large) Oasis in the city with very large and comfortable suites! We usually get the two bed suite which includes a very large living room and kitchenette and it’s so spacious. Each room/ suite is unique and while every time I go I get a new quirky suite. It showcases great art. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming the atmosphere is very relaxed and homely. If you looking for a home away from home, that’s spacious and comfortable. This is it.

This is the first hotel I stayed in the first time I every visited NYC. And I've remained a faithful customer ever since, the hotel's locations is perfect, the staff is friendly, the rooms are extremely calm and clean...
I'll never be able to stay anywhere else! From the minute we stepped into the cozy lobby, we felt welcomed. Randy greeted us warmly and with a smile. Even though we were there two hours before check-in, he told us a room was available, and did we want a higher or lower floor? Wow! He couldn't have been nicer or more helpful with every question and need we had for the entire time we were there. We truly wished we had been staying longer for a change!

Great location, easily walkable to many restaurants and world class shopping.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite. The suite was very spacious. Large master bedroom with king sized bed, TV, sitting area, dresser and full sized closet. The second bedroom was small with a twin sized bed with TV. Extra large living room with sofa and two chairs, desk, and small dining table. Apple TV, expresso machine, fridge and micro finish it off.

The lobby staff were knowledgeable and nice. The doorman arranges valet for your vehicle. A small bar off the lobby for a quick cocktail. Across the street is a Walgreens, wine store, and food store with hot food, sandwiches, coffee, soda and beer. The only two drawbacks are elevator size and furnishings. The elevators are small, so if you have a large wheelchair it might be tight getting in and out. And the room furnishings, while tasteful show their age.

Good location just north of Grand Central. Plenty of amenities nearby. It's an old style hotel which was fine for us. Bathroom and bedroom we're both fine although showing their age. For a place to sleep and shower just north of Grand Central, I would stay here again. Friendly staff as well.

7

Nice hotel and staff but the walls are very thin so you hear a lot of the conversation in the rooms next to yours. The bathrooms and bedrooms are clean and well stocked. They provide complementary yogurt and granola in the lobby which I firmly say you should eat. It's a close walking distance to Grand Central Station and Rockefeller Center, so go check that out if you stay there.

This place was like staying at a bed and breakfast. Beautiful artwork displayed throughout the hotel. My room was just remodeled and so pretty. The bathroom had beautiful tile throughout that reminded me of Picasso. Shampoos and other bathroom products were made by the Beekman Bros.- A special bonus. The staff, Randy...was magnificent and so helpful. Another guy in the morning was also very helpful directed to a wonderful breakfast joint around the corner. Highly recommend!!!

Location was great, and so was the hotel as a whole, the rooms were just ok though, even with the "a ghost lives here" feeling. I understand the vintage vibe present of the hotel but the rooms suffered because of it. The air conditioning didn't work so the windows had to be left open so I didn't spend the night in hell. The shower took awhile to get used to, hot was cold and cold was hot, it was a little confusing. The staff was welcoming and very helpful.

Comfy beds. Free yogurt and green apples. Great location. And no bed bugs! But this hotel is very dated complete with dirty and stained carpets, mildew tile, and a very weird drain for the tub. Everything you take a shower the tub fills up then you get out and pull a drain. Out pours the smell of stagnate water and sewer and the smell lasts for HOURS. For over $300 a night most definitely find somewhere else.

Small but cosy room. @ servings of cosy. Tooth brush, paste, mouth wash, soap - all accessories available in the wash room.

Gelato and fruit available in the lobby. No breakfast option. (but hey - you're in Manhattan - tons of options out there )

Recommended.

Excellent accommodation spot at excellent location (Lexington Ave & 47th Str.) super staff (especially ask for hotel manager Mr Kucuk Bag) very friendly, don't miss Henry's rooftop bar. Good stop before heading home. Artistic murals and paintings (regularly renewed) makes you feel like at exhibition. A must see place.

I spent two weeks at the Roger Smith in February during a business trip, and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff was always professional, friendly and helpful. They were patient that snafus in my booking would be sorted by my host organization, which greatly decreased my stress level.

My room was large and tidy. The furniture has seen better days - both where style and condition are concerned - but that just added to the overall charm. It certainly was more distinctive than the generic/impersonal furniture you most often find in rooms at larger hotel chains.

The location is wonderful, with proximity to Grand Central Terminal as well as numerous shops, restaurants, etc. (incl. a few open 24 hrs.)

5 star for the price and atmosphere. This hotel is still owned by the family that opened it and had a great feel to it. Don't stay if you are looking for a modern place without character and charm. We had a slight problem with one of the beds and they immediately replaced the bed for us. We really appreciated the customer service!

Bathrooms were recently remodeled and made great use of the space.

Only negative was the little bar on the first floor - can't recommend that but everything else is great.

Very dated hotel. Asked for another room that wasn't old an smelled like dust. The upgrade wasn't much better. It definitely has potential but everything needs a major upgrade. Furniture in the room is suppose to look antique but it's mostly just old and worn. Smells dusty. The lobby has extremely old furniture all over. Bathrooms are small. Rooms are roomy but not clean. Again an upgrade to the whole hotel could make this place great. They're hanging their hat on the fact it's a 1920s building, but it's not enough. Just looks worn down.

This hotel was fantastic! Booked the night before on Expedia - and accidentally made a booking error. Roger Smith was able to work with Expedia to correct my reservation and we checked in around 6pm. I told the concierge (Randy) that this was a special occasion - my parents were moving me into nyc and this was a surprise for them. They stayed here 30 years ago and I wanted to thank them for helping with the rental company, etc. Randy upgraded us to a suite on the 15th floor! The room was exceptional - luxurious king size bed, quaint furniture (dining table, mini kitchen), brand new AC unit, and comfy Queen sofa bed.

On our way out, my parents asked the concierge (this time, Manny) if they could purchase a Roger Smith mug. He said he would check. At checkout, he gave us 1 for the!

Outstanding customer service, polite and helpful staff, and adorable boutique hotel in Midtown East. Free local yogurt and granola as well! I'd choose this place over any hotel chain, every time.

I had a great run with the hotel, the location was close to everything you would need. Such as a close by pharmacy and Starbucks Coffee (of course). The room itself was accommodating with a perfect sized restroom and a very large bedroom with a living space! The sraff was friendly and likeable and the atmosphere gave off that old New York vibe. Like a little slice of the ninghteenth century placed in the middle of a modern city. 5/5 would go again.

Great place! Location is close to the Grand Central Station. Lot's of small places to find something to eat or drink.

The hotel has seen it's best days, but so what! Rooms are cozy and clean. Internet is free (slow), but at least you can get your WhatsApp messages and iMessages through! Not enough for voice calls or video streaming - then again - you are on a holiday, so forget your home news!

Aircon was loud, but it worked well.

The roof-top bar was just great! It compensated a lot! Mojito and T'n'T were great!

And what an easy way to make customers happy: free complimentary yougurts! Funny detail, but indeed a great idea.

I can recommend. Worth a try.

I booked a room at this hotel on Valentines day. the rates at just about all other area hotels were through the roof. Surprisingly the Roger Smith hotel was very reasonable, actually low. For this reason I was a little worried but I have to say the room was clean, nicely decorated, and the staff was wonderful. Thank You to everyone at the Roger Smith Hotel :)

We've stayed here when we visit the city since 1997. In December 2014, we returned to our old hideout and weren't disappointed. It's a room - nice, but not fancy. Breakfast, again, is good, but not great. The reasons we come back every time - great rates and great neighborhood. If you're brave enough to part from Times Square, you'll reap the rewards. Close to great neighborhood restaurants (and liquor store across the street), but not nearly as congested as farther west. Points off for snobby bartender who told me the cork in my wine was "sediment." Otherwise, perfect experience!
