Not the best, not the worst. Fairly inexpensive, seemingly new furnishings, great views. All the staff have been very friendly. The place is very pet friendly he warned if you don’t like but I can tell you these guys do.

The immediate blocks are rather bleh. Always a gaggle of bums walking around, endlessly murmuring and sharing their body odor. Also Friday night it got quite rowdy out front with a few cars just parked in front of the hotel openly drinking directly from bottles of liquor outside of their car. Not sure if this was the norm or random act of partying.

But it is just a couple blocks away from the riverfront, so easy to overlook in my opinion.

Great hotel great staff the roof bar was cool
But my favorite part was the feathered tickler in the mini bar along with the passion dice

One of the best rooms I have ever spent the night in. Clean. Large rooms, great pillows and bed. Requested foam pillows, they were excellent. Large room, just a cool vibe to the hotel.
Service was excellent. Definitely example of how to use technology to improve the experience.

I’ve stayed here twice so far and had a great experience each time. The staff are very friendly. The rooms are great. The beds are comfortable & the decor is great. The rooms are split into two “chambers,” one for the bedroom & one that has the bathroom, a closet, sinks, and a vanity table. The rooms are so nice & so comfortable I would’ve been happy just staying in my room the whole time. And the mini bar has a good selection of items with normal prices- no paying $7 for a candy bar here. One of the times we stayed here was when we were attending a concert at the Chicago Theatre, and the hotel was super close to the theater- it took us maybe two minutes or so to walk to the theater from the hotel.

The hotel has got funky style, for sure, it was probably "something" 20 years ago. Today it feels a bit worn-out, reception dark and lacking the welcome look and feel. Staff was friendly and helpful though, all good here. The room was smaller than I have expected reading description of a "chamber". Was 7/10 for cleanliness. The walls made of paper, and made it hard job sleeping hearings neighbors talking, not even partying, just having conversations.

One of the Best hotels we've stayed in!! Great location, awesome and friendly staff, beautiful rooftop bar and cute room layout. The mini bar covered everything too!! the best thing was the early check in and late check out!!! We got in at 9am and they got us in right away, extremely accommodating! Can't wait til they're in Nashville and nyc!

Loved staying here! Rooms are so cute & very clean! Staff is friendly & accommodating. Mini bar is stocked with personal preferences instead of the same in every room. Breakfast was amazing. Great location and view from our room♥️

The place is very cozy and unlike other bars, it's not packed but it's popular. Good for a small gathering. The music is fresher than the rest of the bars and clubs. Cocktails are not a lot to choose from but they are good. The bartender might get frustrated easily if you give them too many orders at once or order multiple times in 2 minutes (happens in a larger group). But the experience was really good. The bouncers are much better (professional) and don't have a smug face.

It was fine. I'm easy going so wasn't annoyed by small things like a light not working and the tv being a little buggy. Was expecting a little more after reading reviews. All in all it is still a nice hotel with friendly service and cute personality touches. Wouldn't discourage people from staying here but there is probably better bang for your buck in the city.

Great boutique hotel! The style is unique and very Virgin. The attention to detail is great (tip: look under the bed). The room is a decent size, but they do look like they were working with the existing building's dimensions. It's a funky configuration too, walk in and have closet on one side with the sink between the two sides of the closet. Meanwhile, on the other side you'll find one room for the toilet. Just the toilet with a thick heavy door (in case you and your new significant other are traveling). Then the shower is the other room. The bedroom was good too, still funky with the felt wall and pockets. My only complaint was I got bit by something twice that wasn't a mosquito. Tried looking for what it was but no luck. Left a bad experience for me. Finally the elevators are beautiful but given the size and height of the building, you'll find yourself waiting a long time to go up or down. Staff are friendly. Attached restaurant is nice. Overall a great boutique hotel.

Great room for the price. Awesome experience around every corner. I loved the layout of the room, and all the little touches to the room that made it memorable. Location is great, cleanliness was great, and staff was awesome all around. Speedy check in and out. Will definitely be staying here again.

While the rooms are nice for one person, sharing the room is advised due to the coziness of the room. They overstock the mini fridge with their items so you cannot store you own stuff or leftover food you bring back to your room. They have no fax service so a company sending their employees, stay away. They are close by and in walking distance of some the best that Chicago has to offer. The diner at hotel is very expensive.

Hip hotel with very thought-out rooms. All staff were kind, caring and informative. Even in rush hour traffic, arrivals are easy with curbside valet parking. The bed was comfortable and the rainfall shower was to die for. Book without hesitation.

The Virgin Hotel takes pride in being hip & quirky, and they do it will without sacrificing service, comfort, or convenience. The British accents all over the place made me feel a bit like Austin Powers was going to pop around the corner at any minute. The rooms were a bit different than what I've experienced in every other boring hotel; as soon as you enter your room, you're in an open area with your bathroom sink on the left, and the toilet and shower on the right, with a little makeup area in between. Further into the room is the bed, TV, and fridge. The bed was wonderful, I slept great both nights I was there. The spacious, walk-in shower was excellent as well. The room has an elegant, modern design with lots of interesting little design touches here and there. There was a free happy hour w/free drinks from 5-6 pm every day. The service was excellent, polite, and professional. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and highly recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed our time at this hotel. We travel constantly and I’ve been in many hotels, I think the design of the room is so well thought out, is simple but with everything you need and the bed was sooo comfortable, I was actually happy that it was cold and rainy outside and spend most of one day just enjoying the room. Staff was always attentive and smiling, location is great and the whole place is really cool. My only advice would be to improve the drinks at both bars, some good crafty cocktails will bring more people and raise the bar rating that is very low. We’ll definitely stay here in our next visit to Chicago.

Had drinks at the cerise rooftop bar. Great location. Had a nice view. Limited variety of drinks, but pretty nice otherwise. Music does get louder in the evening. Great location of an rooftop party on warm days.

➖ Room service was disappointing. Concept and design of Miss Ricky’s diner is great. However food was just okay. I have had much better diner food elsewhere. Lastly, if Virgin Hotels do not provide movies on demand, they may consider providing the ability to pair/project mobile devices/tablets/laptops wirelessly to the TV monitor.

➕ Hotel staff are kind, courteous and very helpful. Bed was very comfy, having the room divider from the bathroom area is great. The room divider helps dampen noise. Our room was directly across from the elevator and noise was not an issue.

Loved it! The rooms were amazing, very modern and close to the Chicago theater. Which is why we chose the Virgin. They have an amazing rooftop bar that turns into a night club. The bar on restaurant and Cafe off the lobby were very nice. I was extremely happy with my stay

One of the best hotels I've stayed at. Excellent location near the river and Navy Pier, and by many restaurants. The room was extremely clean and well designed. Little touches (like leaving ear plugs in our room just in case the city was too loud, which it was not!) were awesome. The social hour with free drinks every day was amazing (fantastic drinks) and the rooftop bar was so cool! Great food up there too. Everyone was very friendly. Virgin definitely has my business in the future, and I'm excited that it looks like they're opening up more in other cities.

Honestly one of the best and most fun hotels I've ever stayed at. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. When I go back to Chicago I will only stay at the Virgin hotel because of the staff, location, and room. The rooms were amazing and so homey. We were there for 4 days and felt like family. The bar was amazing and the downstairs diner was so good (even though it was a little expensive). I've never felt so positive or welcome by a hotel as much as I did with this one. 12 out of 10.

Great hotel! The staff was very friendly, and relaxed; we loved the hospitality hour, the rooms were a good size, very comfortable & clean. The hotel had a great location, and was very convenient to a large number of resturnats, shops and activities. The only thing we didn't like was that it was difficult to distinguish who the employees were. (They do not wear uniforms or name tags)

I didn't want to leave!! I stayed in an upgraded room that had it's own living room and dining table. It was glorious! And the large walk in shower - I could of had a party in there! I swear, if I didn't have a husband, kid and dog waiting for me back at home, I would have moved in! Why can't all hotels be like this??!! Stylish yet practical and worth the mid-week cost.

My wife and I were looking for a place to enjoy our first anniversary and we both thought of the Virgin Hotel. We were surprised at how affordable it was. Even more than that, how lovely the staff was! When we told them that we would like a room for the night for our first anniversary, they made sure to have someone come by our room with a hand-signed card from the hotel's staff thanking us for choosing Virgin for our anniversary, and they gave us a bottle of wine to celebrate the evening with! Also, that bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in in my life! Highly recommend!

This hotel exceeded our expectations and then some. It felt like we were in first class in one of Virgin's jets but way bigger. Even the bed was shaped like the first class pods. Everything in the mini bar was super affordable.

Service was unreal, free bottle of champagne on arrival, easy check in and check out, help with bags, etc. First time ever in Chicago and Virgin Hotels was a big part of why we had such a great time.

Then there is the Commons Club (the in-house hotel bar and restaurant). Holy cow this place is unreal. The first meal I had was their steak, and I have got to say, this is the most unique steak I have ever had, in the best way possible. We came back later that night and I had the burger, again, the most unique burger I've ever had. Happy hour is just a great touch.

We will definitely be back in Chicago and will stay at Virgin Hotels again for sure.

Thank you guys!

We were very happy here for two nights. The room was small but we had what we needed--a larger shower, king size bed, fridge, wine glasses, etc.
I wish we had bottled water with us--found out later that we could have had tap water to drink which would have been fine. Had a little trouble with the TV the one time we tried to watch it. I wish they used trash liners in the rooms.
Every staff member we interacted with, even in the hallways and the custodians, were pleasant and genuine. Hospitality here was great. The coffee shop and diner were awesome, the drinks and the service! We enjoyed the bar upstairs but had other plans for meals and didn't eat up there. Keith at the bar was refreshing and kind. I'd love to go back and would recommend!

Great service and unique, well-thought out rooms (or chambers, as they call them.) The evening happy hour makes the price totally worth it-- you can order ANYTHING from the bar from 6pm-7pm each evening! Unbelievable!

I've stayed at the Virgin Hotel in Chicago twice now. After the great experience I had the first time in January 2017, I knew I would be back. I stayed again this past weekend, and had another wonderful experience. I'm a big fan of the youthful, modern vibe the hotel gives off, despite being in the heart of downtown Chicago. Both times, the service has been excellent, the beds comfortable, the rooms clean, and if you get a chance, take a ride in the hotel's Tesla. Also, for what it's worth, I received the same excellent service while checking in this time around, from the same employees that I did the last time I stayed a year ago. This leads me to believe the Virgin Hotel treats their employees as well as their guests, and that gives me peace of mind that I'm spending my money at the right place. I will definitely be back at the Virgin the next time I'm staying overnight in Chicago.

The rooms are beautiful and posh I was you haven't thought about. If these aren't feather pillows, they sure do a good job of simulating them. Keith was our bartender, and he did an excellent job of familiarizing us with what the bar had to offer.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Virgin Hotel. This hotel is downtown close to the Trump tower. The rooms are very well organized and appointed for being on the smaller side (at least ours). They have a jazz club downstairs, an excellent coffee shop attached and every night at 5pm they have happy hour where drinks are free :). Would stay here again for sure next time i am in Chicago

Very nice room. There are a lot of really cool amenities but personally speaking, the bed was too soft. Lovely mini bar and the shower was awesome. I would definitely recommend it. I hope they build one in San Francisco soon so we can have a staycation at a nice hotel.

The hotel was in a great location, the rooms were nice and clean. The bathroom layout was a little weird, there was no door between the shower and the beds just a partition that moved and had a peep hole to. Loved the speaker that you could hook your phone into so you can play music. Comfy bed as well.

Great location! There is a lot to do within walking distance or you can hop on the train. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel/rooms are nice, clean, and have a fun, modern twist. Plus, the red accents give a nod to the Virgin brand. We would definitely stay here again!!

Very nice stay. I liked the rooms, clean, modern, with a touch of smart innovative design and s-appeal. Great gym for a hotel. The bar was cozy and well decorated with kind staff but ridiculously overpriced and the dinner portions were tiny for their price! Breakfast was ok... at the diner.

This review is for Cerise rooftop bar only. Upon entering the lobby, the place feels elegant, stylish, and vintage. Made us really looking forward to the rooftop bar and it didn't disappoint. All-around great experience! Rooms are spectacular. Amazing finishes and simply just the right amazing small touches of personality that Virgin is legendary for. Motion-sending lights in the closet areas, lots of plugs next to the bed and everything else in between. It's made for comfort and experience. Be sure to check out "The Study" on the second floor for a great place to relax and lounge.

Very unique hotel! The room is very eclectic, and the staff has been nice. The gym also has nice equipment. Only cons are it feels slightly cramped, and some of the unique factors aren't the most practical. But I would recommend it for a fun weekend!

Visited the rooftop bar here and it was great. The seating was really comfortable and the music was good. I went on a Friday night and it was lovely but not crowded. My group didn't have too hard of a time finding seating, and the bar was pretty accessible for us. Overall great experience.

If you luck out by both not being under the rooftop bar but above the trains you will love your stay here.

This is the first hotel clearly touched by a team of focused user experience designers because the attention to room functionality and utility is unusually high. I had a suite and from the mini bar to the restroom and divided space everything was setup to be genuinely useful.

I also either stayed a quiet week with no neighbours because I slept like a baby.

Coupled with the outstanding service from the front desk to the room service (the kitchen eats/attached restaurants are exemplary) I won't stay anywhere else in Chicago and hope there are more locations.

Was referred this place as it was my first trip to Chicago. Probably one of the best hotels I have stayed at for price, location, amenities, room and service. Located right by the river on Wabash, great location. I stayed in Suite 1102, the room was wonderful. Very spacious with awesome amenities. Free drinks from 7-8 at The Commons Club (second floor bar) and complimentary entry to a ticketed event going on at the rooftop bar (which had a line around the block we were allowed to skip). Would definitely stay again!

I had drinks at the bar on the second floor of the hotel. The bar itself is the centerpiece of the room, which also has many sofas and tables to relax with a cocktail. There are games to play, but the people watching is entertainment enough. It's usually crowded and fun. The drinks are creative and look as good as they taste.

Great hotel overall, but several issues with our room. One of the sliding doors is broken, one of us got locked in the toilet, and the light fixtures are surprisingly confusing. As others have said, the outdoor soundproofing could have been more thoughtful. There's only one chair in the sleeping chamber when there could easily be two. People going to the rooftop bar clog the elevators. But the large king room is very spacious and fairly comfy. The TV is needlessly difficult to use due to the hotel "features". But the shower is incredible!

Everyone has a hotel style that they like. For me, the Virgin Hotels Chicago is my style. It is highly functional, modern, and slightly funky. The service was excellent; highly efficient, but not intrusive. A valet to handle unloading the car, quick check-in, with a brief but thorough description of hotel operations, amenities, and food and beverage options. The fitness room is well equipped. The Club Room bar, when we were there, offered free wine from 7-8, and a variety of small plates (in my opinion, they could expand the list, make it a bit more edgy, and charge more for it). We had a basic room, but it was more than adequate in size. VERY comfortable bed, LARGE shower facility, LARGE sink area, two small closets with luggage space. My only wish was for more movie options in the TV.

The hotel was very unique and fun to stay at. However it was kind of loud as well as I didn't feel like it lived up to the more upscale vibe they were trying for. But it was a nice stay and my wife and I loved the large modern room.

We went to the rooftop bar this past Saturday night and really enjoyed our experience. We all got drinks but I would have to say the Devil In The Hot Seat drink was the best at least in terms of presentation because it was served flaming. I would definitely recommend this bar to anyone looking for a cool view and a somewhat relaxed atmosphere.

Located a short walk from Millennium Park, the Virgin Hotel is an excellent place to stay! Also about a block from the famous Chicago Theater. Rooms are modern looking and clean, with fantastic design and features (lots of adjustable lighting, many outlets, FREE NO HASSLE WIFI, and simple thermostat control in room or through Virgin Hotels app). Service is wonderful, employees are happy to help guests via phone call and through app requests. Rooms are also very clean and easy to feel comfortable in.

The hotel staff were extremely helpful and very polite. The room was lovely very spacious and modern with lots of clever features. The bed was very comfortable, minibar prices were reasonable with lots of choice. Room service was brilliant and the food was very nice. Breakfast at miss Ricky's in the hotel was lovely. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

It's an interesting and unique bar to say the least. Pretty fun. Been there once when the terrace was open and once when the terrace area was closed. They have heat lamps out there! Nice view even though the buildings are so tall next to the hotel. The drinks are awesome but take SO long to make it almost isn't worth waiting for one. The credit card reader was broken when I went and since they made me wait 30 minutes, they gave me the two drinks for free. Nice workers but they need more staff I guess.

The service was outstanding! The guy who got our luggage out of our car noticed we had a pack n play with us and offered to have one sent up for us instead of using our own. We forgot something in our car and the desk had someone get it for us and bring it to our room. We ordered room service and I don't remember how long it took but I do remember thinking "wow that was really fast!" The app you can download to control room temp, TV, order room service etc was an awesome idea, but didn't work that we'll on my phone. I had to click on buttons a million times for it to do anything.

Just back from a fantastic trip to Chicago where we had four nights at the Virgin Hotel. First, the positives: 1: What a great location, slap bang in the middle of things. When you walk out in the morning and see the skyscrapers it is almost unreal. 2: The rooms are lovely, very stylish and impeccably clean.

The Virgin Chicago provided an excellent stay. The rooms are comfortable and impeccably styled. Members of the staff are, to a person, friendly and helpful. The restaurant offers good food, and the bar never lost an order, even when things got busy. (Speaking of the bar, it offers a free happy hour to guests during the evening. Quite a plus!) I would happily recommend the Virgin to anyone considering a stay in the area.

Trendy Style, Fun, Beautiful Lobby and Rooms, Excellent Restaurant, Great View from the Bar on the Top of the Hotel, Great Atmosphere, Nice Rooms....We met the owner and a couple of the investors and they were very friendly and open to hear about what we liked and any suggestions we had.
Room service food was excellent and the mini bar and snacks in the hotel room were priced as if you were buying them at a normal store, not overpriced like most hotels do.
Highly recommend this hotel!

I very much enjoyed my stay at this modern hotel. I was only at this hotel for one night, and I wish I could have stayed longer to experience it better. The hotel has a very cool, hip, and chic vibe that was so much fun. Every detail in the hotel and the rooms were a surprise that put a smile on my face. The staff was so friendly, and they matched the same modern and laid back vibe that the hotel gave off.

I will definitely be staying here again when I return to Chicago.

This place is the jam. Somehow Virgin is always better than the alternative. My fiance and I had a staycation downtown and since we always fly Virgin, we chose to stay here. The rooms are simple and stocked with the essentials, just like their airlines, but it's just swankier! Treat yourself at a great price and book a room!

Stayed here Christmas night and it was very quiet, felt like we had the whole floor to ourselves. Large room, very nicely decorated with thoughtful touches. The double sinks and large shower are a definite plus. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Could barely hear the train on the 21st floor, certainly not enough to be disruptive.

The bar area was Steller. Beautiful outline. Couches, and light shows. The bar tenders were very friendly. The DJ was great. The only downside was that a Knob Creek neat was $15 but then again it is in Chicago. Good atmosphere and enough room to dance and have a good time.

Room was clean and had a great view. Staff was helpful and friendly. My only complaint was their parking garage was only 6'8" so finding parking for a full size pickup kinda sucked. The valet was very helpful giving me directions on where to park though.

Had such an amazing stay here at the Virgin Hotel in Chicago! The staff here are so welcoming and the hotel vibe is fun! Stayed in the suite and loved it! The only downfall is that there was not a microwave in the room, but other than that, this hotel is awesome! The staff here are so accommodating too. Room service was good! Really enjoyed the fried chicken and waffle for breakfast! It was also nice to have the front desk call us to check if we would like house cleaning done or if we wanted a refill on our mini fridge/snack bar! Awesome location to Michigan Ave and to Millennium park! Would highly recommend this hotel! Plus, they have a complimentary happy hour for hotel guests every night in their hotel bar. Who doesn't love drinks on the house? ;)

We loved our stay. Good location in the city. We were extremely impressed with the layout and functionality of the "chambers" (room). The happy hour had good (and unlimited) drinks. The rooftop bar and second floor bar were fun. Overall a great stay. Only complaint was noise from the L, but what can you do there.

I've stayed at over 10 hotels in Chicago and The Virgin is my favorite. After coming here every other month for over a year, I've gotten to know this hotel well. Perfect for both the business traveler and the tourist. Great location, helpful attentive staff, and a cool vibe. They thought of all the little details that make your stay more of a home away from home. Great restaurant, bars, and coffee shop. Room service is fantastic. The rooftop is one of my favorites. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Highly recommended.

Came in with a small group for a business conference. We aquired a location nearby to all the most important vacinities; and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was enjoyable, and we were within walking and small taxi rides to many local favs and major transportation routes and carriers. The overall area felt very safe to walk out and about, even late at night. As oppossed to the far side of town which many say is very dangerous. We found many places close by that are open 24 hours a day; which came in handy more then once. I still can't get over Chicagos fascination with donuts though, they are literally connected almost every other block.

This place is GREAT...!!! I've stayed at several hotels downtown Chicago and this place has EVERYTHING you could want...rooftop bar/club, 2 restaurants, coffee shop, beauty spa, gym, great location, easy access to the El-train, awesome rooms, fantastic views and the staff/customer service is better than anywhere else in the city...!!! Trust me, it's worth every penny...!!!

All the quality that you'd expect from a Virgin-branded business. Love the layout of the rooms (they call them "chambers") and that the minibar prices are actually reasonable. Can't fault the customer service either. As a hotel guest, you should definitely check out the hourly happy hour at the hotel bar for a free drink!

So glad I made the choice to stay here for the five nights I'm in town. Rooms are chic and modern. Had a birthday welcome package put together to be waiting for my boyfriend when we arrived-Charged no more than face value of items in the basket, and no assembly fee added on either. Staff was very helpful and enthusiastic about putting it together for me, so it made the request a lot easier as it was my first time doing something like that. Definitely going to be staying here anytime I visit the city.

The location of this hotel is perfect. You are close to the Magnificent Mile but aren't stuck down there. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The rooms were very spacious and clean. We took advantage of the happy hour and it was perfect for a quick drink before dinner. If you are a tech person you'll love all the features.

Our stay the the Virgin Hotel Chicago was fantastic. We stayed for a amazingly warm November weekend and loved every moment at the hotel. The grand suite was worth the extra money for the side room. Great for relaxing for a bit before going out again but not being in the bedroom. They surprised us with a candy gift our first night because I joined "the know" their loyalty program. The 2nd floor bar and restaurant has free drinks for one hour every night and it is packed and fun. This place is a must for anyone who likes a fun young hotel thats a true experience.

The service from everyone atthehotel was VERY good. They were very friendly and didn't act like we were bothersome with any of our questions or request. Our visit was for my birthday and they delivered us a birthday card and acomplimentary bottle of wine as a gift!!
The location of the hotel is perfect for food shopping and site seeing.
We really enjoyed the 'different' style of the room and all of the technology in the room that you do not see in other hotels.
We will definitely be returning to Virgin Hotel Chicago!!

This is a great hotel! Stayed here Saturday. Gus at front desk was very personable and helpful. Dan O' Leary made sure our stay was excellent down to the last detail. The diner is excellent. We highly recommend this very clean and luxurious hotel!
