The room they gave us had a leaky toilet and the TV didn't work. When we switched rooms, the keys they gave us didn't work, so they told us to go back to the room and wait for security to come let us in. They never showed up so we had to go back to the front desk where they made us wait even longer before finally upgrading us. Two star hotel masquerading as a four star

Great location, the hotel it’s self is dated with shocking decor in the hallways and dark and dingy rooms
The rooms are extremely small , the bathroom was also tiny.
However you are within walking distance of many of the must see attractions and subway.
Wouldn’t recommend if you are looking for any type of comfort but adequate for somewhere to sleep

Our family enjoyed the stay here. Enjoyed the food and the hotel was close to the subway for us to get anywhere we needed to. Would have given a 4.5 for the size of the room... but a great stay otherwise.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel. Everything was perfect! We dined in the restaurant at the hotel, and it was delicious, and the service was excellent. We played golf, went shopping downtown, rode the trolley, and just enjoyed sightseeing on this beautiful island. I love it all and want to come back to visit soon.

Our whole family opted to have a staycation at this hotel this year. Even with the many guests checking in and checking out, we were handled very well by Sofia of the Front Desk. Nothing compares to a cheerful and pleasant employee to make our stay a wonderful one. I love the food. Do not miss their breakfast buffet. The rooms we stayed in were clean and had a nice view. I highly recommend this hotel for their excellent service!

Great central location by Columbus circle and Central park. Funky yellow and grey color scheme. Rooms are pretty small and reminded me of a cabin on a cruise ship. The courtyard is nice as is the lobby. Service was good.

The Hudson is well-placed for exploring New York. It's close to Columbus Circle which means you can catch a subway from there to almost anywhere.

The room was small but as a lone traveler, it wasn't an issue. As for cleanliness, the rooms were cleaned every day and the towels changed similarly.

Drinks and food are a bit pricey but probably in keeping with what most hotels charge. The vending machines dispense 330ml bottles of water at $3 a go when from any street vendor, they are $1. It's just a case of knowing what to expect. I bought my water outside and brought it in. I also ate out which is definitely recommended in a city lie New York.

The room was comfortable the bathroom spacious enough (for me). It was reasonably quiet and I was thankful the air conditioning worked during a muggy New York August.

The staff were helpful and friendly and dealt with any queries I had.

The only gripe I had was that in the evening, it would have been nice to have somewhere quiet to sit. It seems easy enough but the upbeat, lively (dance) music was everywhere.... even in the Library Bar and elevators.

That said, I really enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it -just be aware it's not the Presidential suite you're getting.

Amazing hotel! We’ve been twice and even picked our new surnames after staying there on our honeymoon! Sure, the rooms can be a bit small, but you’re in New York, who wants to stay in their room?
The staff are amazing and so friendly, people talk about New Yorkers being rude but I’ve NEVER experienced this and the staff here are so warm and welcoming and chatty!
We’ll be back for a third visit for sure

We booked a studio room for 2 nights on the tail end of our Xmas holiday stay in NYC. We don't normally spend too much time on this side of town but found it okay for 2 nights. The bathtub was large and relaxing, the seating area of the small studio room was cute. Our room was quiet, although I see a lot of the reviews do complain about noise, I did not experience any. Service was great, though I had a bit of trouble talking to the front desk attendant who felt the need to double talk to us for some reason. (Meaning she explained things twice.) In the end, it was a bit out of the way for some of our friends who reside mostly in Brooklyn to visit, even at the allure of the hotel bar and a Stark-designed place... but we had a nice stroll in Central Park and appreciated the stay. Now, if our studio room was small, I can't imagine what the regular rooms are like! I hope that the charm makes up for the size at least!

For the price and the area it is great as it is close to central park, grocery stores, and a subway station. The staff were also very nice and helpful all the time. We got the superior room and we felt it was kinda small but overall it was OK. One thing is that I couldn't find an appropriate place to smoke an occasional cigarette; supposedly you can in the terrace/patio but I found it closed all the time, the other option the staff gave me was outside the main entrance but I found no-smoking signs all over the hotel, as well as no place to drop the ashes. Overall my experience was nice and every time I needed something they would help me and would probably stay again!

I wouldn't call this a luxury hotel as it is categorized here on google, but we did enjoy our stay. The rooms are quite tiny but hip. The place was mostly clean with exception to a dusty cord tangle under the bed. The bathroom is a bit strange, as there is a semi transparent curtain over the window to the bathroom from the bedroom, resulting in minimal privacy while you shower and sit on the toilet. The final bill had all sorts of additional taxes and fees on it beyond the initial quoted price. All and all though, they have decent prices for New York, and the location is incredible.

Flew in from Vegas for a overnight stay before heading to Rome. Location is perfectly situated right between hells kitchen and Columbus circle. Hotel is cute, staff friendly, rooftop bar that we heard so much about and seen in pictures was under construction which was a bummer. Extra facilities fee when checking out for the gym we never used which they then waived. Room was small but then again your in Manhattan and get what you pay for. Wouldn't reccomend anything over two or three nights as again room is small but who comes to NYC to stay in there room ? Overall it was a nice hotel and did just the job. 4 stars!

This hotel was an interesting experience. My room was fine, though extremely small, even by Manhattan standards. There was a quirky window that looked from the shower into the room and there was minimal lightning. The room was seriously dark. My room was fine however and the bath products were very nice and a brand that I like. There were other areas of the hotel that had maintenance issues however, such as weird peeling paint on the door. Overall, I’d stay here again if the rate were under $150 nightly due to its awesome location and the friendly staff.

Loved the location, the quirky design. Some guests might not be thrilled by the zero privacy bathroom, if you're sitting on the toilet you are on full display to any other guests in your room because of the giant glass wall, but I was alone so no big deal. Outside is blank, a brown wall. Escalator takes you up to an ultra modern spacious lobby with subdued lighting and cozy spaces. Room was larger than expected, bed extraordinarily comfortable. Plenty of natural light.

Cool vibe but looks like it is a little run down. A few of their elevators were down which resulted in long wait times. When asked about the elevators the staff denied that any were not working. Room service did a good job but didn't replace paper cups for water, no glass or plastic cups provided.
The breakfast buffet was expensive and not that great, more like a continental breakfast that is usually free.
Rooms are nice

I'm a native New Yorker and I love to visit the bars at this hotel. They each have a different feel. My favorite is the Library bar with fire place and leather couches. Cocktails are pricey, but delicious. You' re paying for the atmosphere. In the warm months there's an outdoor space and a bar/grill to provide for beverage and culinary needs. Check it out.

Got the double queen. Has one 40-50 inch flat screen tv mounted to the wall with a retractable arm. Has cable, movies in theaters, and premium content. Bathrooms had 3 ply toilet paper and plenty of towels. Downstairs there is a bar with a large seating area. There is also a burger restaurant downstairs. Pricing is in the 10-20 range for a burger, and I'd say it's worth it once or twice. The aesthetic in the rooms were great, but the halls were very odd. Bright neon green doors and white walls made it feel like a high end prison. All of the small oddities this place has are made up for by the fact that it is right at the corner of central park, and right down the street from the Museum of Natural History. Perfect if you are a tourist.

Beautiful and bustling hotel in the heart of New York, just a minutes walk from the south side of Central Park. Super friendly and always helpful staff that went out of their way to make sure your stay was as pleasant as possible. The rooms are nice, but there is not much room in the standard size, barely enough for one person let alone two if you are traveling with suitcases. I'd recommend upgrading to the premium and studio suites... much bigger and more suitable, especially if you need a room big enough for a bride to get ready. Also, an extra added bonus is that you have $10 credit everyday of your stay until checkout to put towards your food and drink bill. The cocktail bar is very good, and the burger bar and complimentary breakfast (if booked in advance with your hotel booking) in the main bar, is exceptional! A great mix of hotel guests that made our stay that little bit more enjoyable. There is also the outside area on the lonby floor which is a nice sun trap. There was a rooftop terrace, but unfortunately was under renovation when we arrived, so hopefully you'll get to experience it and let us know what it's like. There are local shops and underground markets nearby (just check with the ever helpful concierge). Pricey, like most of NY, but you'll enjoy the perks and views, but most importantly the experience.

Great location for the price. Close to Central Park, Broadway theaters, and Hell's Kitchen restaurants and bars. Pseudo-trendy. Responsive, professional staff. Negatives: teeny tiny rooms and bathrooms, showers never seem to work well (and I've stayed here many times), lots of street noise and HVAC noise, and elevators can take forever at times. I'm leaning 3-star but have to acknowledge that many people like this place solely because of the price and location. Just not my personal favorite.

The location was perfect. It was right behind columbine circle station and Central Park. The hotel had great ambiance, but the rooms were very small. You barely can fit 2 people properly. Probably would have stayed again if the rooms were a little bigger!

Stayed 6 nights with 2 kids (8 & 10) in a Deluxe Double Double. The room was big enough for 4. The double beds were comfortable but snug for 2 average adults. There was a shortage of clothing storage space but ample room to leave or use suitcases on the floor.

The buffet breakfast was included in our pricing. It was a little exorbitant $28 when not included.

Great front desk staff. The bar was busy but not bumping. A great place to grab a quick drink.

Great location though the traffic and construction on 9th can make it noisier.

I loved the ambiance and minimalist feel of the room for an overnight, but would probably opt for a slightly larger room for a longer stay. Everything was clean and well maintained and the rooms were quiet even on a busy weekend. The hotel restaurant was delicious!

Amazing stay, the staff were friendly and accommodating, the room was clean, and the hotel food (Unami Burger) was amazing. We arrived early and exhausted from an early flight Monday morning and the woman at the front desk (I forgot to catch her name) let us check in early, she was really nice and even gave us an upgrade to our room! The Hudson Hotel has the perfect location, a short walk away from Central Park, Columbus Circle and Times Square. Next time I visit New York I will definitely be staying here again.

Apparently this used to be a Grand Hotel with a busy and popular bar and one of the places to go stay and party in New York City. The bar is now part of the lobby hi, and the place itself has lost any semblance of being a Quality Hotel. Though the room was clean very small and I and quite plain, the most disturbing part of the stay there was the lack of Hospitality both formal and informal amongst the staff. My car was parked in a garage at the cost of $78 per night, and retrieving it involved me speaking into four different individuals that before a call could be made to get my car,. I went to the front desk was coffee cold to go to the concierge and told me to go see the bellhop you told me to go to the front desk when the call is fine with me bellhops assistant who is very cool in fact was very nice it took approximately one hour for my car to appear it even though it was parked 1/2 block away and was in Easy viewing distance of the hotel. They Hotel offers no room service other than cleaning your room and is far from. High quality in any regard. The overhead Glass ceiling is covered with for IVoh, there's some amusing pieces of pottery Etc and some interesting chairs in the lobby but nothing cohesive nor good about the place

Had to ask for a different room. First one had dead dust mites all over the bathroom. New one (upgraded) had stains and hairs on the sheets. My special (and expensive) memory foam pillow went missing after housekeeping came. VERY small rooms with less than comfortable bathrooms, many repairs needed. Terrifying lime green hallways. Dingy carpets. Customer service is wonderful, they're very kind, but not AT ALL a 4-star hotel.

Kind of a weird place. When you first enter it you'll see a small room with two neon green escalators. Climbing them gets you to a night club, loud music, beer and all that. The ceiling is covered with some plant and there is this dark night club ambiance. There is also a front desk. The hallways are dark, doted by neon green doors, and the rooms are a bit small, but comfortable enough of all you want is a place to sleep. It honestly feels like somebody watched some 80s futuristic movie while designing the place. Blade Runner, maybe. Other than that, so far I had a pretty nice stay. Location is great and the staff seems eager to help you if you need.

Polite staff. Can't beat the location! Close to so much! Standard room was clean but tiny, hard for two to manuver. Travel light. Lighting as dim, a little more wattage would have been nice. Radiator heat with ac to cool it down, so sometimes a bit noisy. Will try to make it to restaurant and bar next time. Cause there will be a next time.

Best location I can think of conducting the price. Right next to the Columbus Circle with all major attractions plus Central Park in walking distance. Breakfast is nice but lacks diversity and vegetables. Rooms are tiny, even what's considered a superior room. I still don't get the differences between standard and superior room. Might be the floor but then again most rooms are facing brick walls. If you want a nice city view you're best off with a room starting from three 10th floor upwards. Regardless of the floor, however, the room number has to be 58!! That's among the best views you can get. Service is flawless.

Our stay at the Hudson New York was great. We arrived early and even though the hotel had been fully booked the night before, the very friendly front desk staff rearranged things to get us into our room well before the standard check in time. The room was small, as we expected (it's NYC after all). However, the room was designed to maximize space with large mirrors on the walls, so the size wasn't an issue. The location is great (about a block from Columbus Circle and Central Park, and about 15 minutes walk to Time Square). We will definitely stay again.

4

Nice staff and that's about it. I hated this hotel. It was dark, dank and the halls reminded me of a welfare hotel turned "trendy hotel". Gray walls, Gray carpet was just ugly lipstick on an already ugly pig. And yes the other reviews about the size of the room are correct. If you're alone, you can make it work but not if you're with another person. The wood paneling in the rooms is nice and I'm sure used to cover what was probably too terrible to fix. That was a good choice. I will admit that I have not tried the restaurants here. The whole place just left me dissatisfied that I didn't even want to try them.

People seem to be complaining about the size of the room. You don't go to New York to stay in your room it's big enough. The staff on the desk where really helpful and funny. Always believe in good customer service and this place has it. Location is brilliant, next to central park and the subway. 5 - 10 minutes walk to Times Square. Couldn't complain, would recommend to anyone and if coming back wouldn't hesitate to book here. Great value for money keep it up!!

The umami burger restaurant area was delightful. Though busy, it was good for grabbing a cocktail and burger in a beautiful environment. The cocktail was fascinating, possibly more fruit and decoration than drink. The burger was worth the high price. Fireplaces and couches, long tables, and high bar tables - plenty of options for relaxing in a small group or big crowd.

Hotel rooms nice but lacking power sockets. Breakfast is very overpriced for the poor selection. Had to eat out 2 mornings as did not feel price justified the selection of food and drink. Bars are seasonal which was not informed to us on check in and couldn't go to the rooftop bar for a drink. Overall a good hotel to stay. Would recommend.

Staff are friendly but don't judge a book by its cover...glossy on the outside, grubby on the inside. Once out of reception and terrace (very nice) the corridors feel like those of a storage facility and the rooms are tiny (and fittings falling apart - our bed and the A/C vanity cover where in shoddy shape).
Also, they charge you to hold your luggage, which says a lot for a so-called 4 star hotel.

Great shared spaces, lobby, library bar, and beer hall are fun spots. Great drinks and atmosphere for couples or groups.

Nice hotel. The location is great. Staff seemed helpful and pleasant. There are a few negatives: the rooms are super small (but I don't come to NY to spend a lot of time in the room) and it can get very noisy from the streets outside. We really enjoy this hotel, and you can't beat the location as far as we're concerned.

The rooms are a bit small, but manageable for a reasonably priced hotel in this area.

The only gripe I have is the elevators. There are 5 of them, but no matter when you are trying to use them, it takes forever to get to your floor. I'm not sure what is going on with them, but it definitely puts a damper in your day.

Besides that, I would give it 5 stars because everything else is great!

Went to Umami Burger in the Hudson Hotel. The hotel itself had an interesting decor and the staff were all very friendly. The burger itself was really, really good. Meat was delicious and cooked just right at medium temp. Fixings were tasty as well. The bun was a little hard and chewy though.

Rooms are small and I mean small! Like 6 inches on each side of the bed and not much else. Bathroom fits one person. Stayed for two night one with miles one on the card a couple months prior. If I had just shown up could have saved over $100 but it's NY and right next to Central Park. Drinks at the hotel bars are like $15-$16 a pop it in remember right.

Pros: nice public spaces, cool bar & restaurant with good food. Great location close to Columbus circle and Central Park. Hallways and rooms were quiet. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Very cool rooftop terrace bar with great views.

Cons: Wasn't impressed by the room I stayed in. Felt like a dorm room with the mini fridge on the floor, and power strip under the bed to plug my phone into at night. Ice and floor amenities were at the elevator, which in my case was quite a distance. I didn't measure, but I would estimate the bathroom door opening in my room (there was no door) was 24 inches, just a tad wider than my shoulders. The distance from my knee to the wall sitting on the toilet was less than a foot. I'm 6', 185#, so I didn't find that to be a huge issue, but if you're reading this and are a larger person, just be aware. I don't think all rooms were identical, so ymmv.

Stayed here for work, and convenience to Columbus Circle was the reason I chose Hudson. Service was to be expected: very good most of the time, infrequently... less so. I have never stayed at the hotel but used to live in the area and come for eating and drinking a lot. There 3 bars, plus 2 seasonal bars (outdoors). Hudson Nee York is an absolutely gorgeous hotel located in a vibrant area a few blocks from Columbus Circle. The foyer is open and beautifully decorated with floor to ceiling windows covered in ivy - it's a perfect spot to wait for your crew and have a drink. We stayed in one of their standard rooms. We knew the room would be small but we underestimated just *how* small. There is about two feet of leg room on either side of the bed, and just enough room for a little desk at the foot of the bed. The bedding and pillows are amazing! Fluffy and clean and perfectly supportive, we had amazing night sleeps! The bathroom however is miniscule - you have just enough room to shuffle past the toilet to the shower (which is luckily the biggest part of the bathroom). The big mirror in the bedroom works great for getting ready so you don't have fights over the small mirror in the bathroom. Don't let the size dissuade you though. If you don't mind shuffling around, this hotel is amazing. You don't come to New York to stay in the hotel, so enjoy the location and everything the hotel has to offer.

Really enjoyed our stay. We were there for around a week. Room was very clean and well kept, with modern decor. TV and safe in the room. They had a place we could leave our bags on checkout day until we collected them in the evening. Only a 5 minute walk from Central Park. 6/5 stars if I could give it that. The hotel is beautiful. Very modern, incredible design, has 3 bars (one of which serves amazing burgers and another that is a nightclub). The staff was very friendly and helpful, hallways and rooms are extremely clean (although very small, but hey, it's NYC). They comped us $50 upon finding out we were staying for my girlfriend's birthday. Our room had all amenities including a mini fridge, flat screen TV on a movable wall mount, iron & board, etc. I loved my stay here. This will definitely be my choice of hotel upon returning to the city.

Great location and staff was very good. Rooms could use updating and renovating. Location is ideal and value is excellent. Complimentary happy hour is a zoo. Staff was helpful and courteous. Expanded food options would be helpful especially for breakfast. Price of coffee in the lobby is ridiculously expensive.

Hotel is beautiful! Good mood lighting, nice rustic atmosphere. Bar area is big with several sitting arrangements. Good for couples and small groups!

Got a deluxe queen room, which was clean, and small but not too small. I spend most of my time in the bed or outside anyway! The hallway wasn't noisy, but the heater/AC kept making banging and clicking noises even when it was off...
Service was ok, no complaints there. It seems like they don't take early check-ins or even see if rooms are available an hour or two early, unlike a lot of hotels I've been to.
Decent hotel, and wouldn't mind staying again as long as the rooms stay cheap.

This review is specifically for the common areas- The fireside lounge room and the library room. The fireside room is a bar/lounge that is HUGE with great big chairs and an epic fireplace. And the library room is even better! Intimate, low lighting, pool table, mini bar, books everywhere, ALSO a fireplace.. Come for a drink or a date. Great atmosphere.

First impression was great. Rooms were too small and there is a big window from bedroom to bathroom that's sheer. So whoever your with can see you taking a shower. And in the morning the hotel lobby by the elevator looks like someone had a party. Food..dirty glasses everywhere.

We had the standard queen size double.
Expect a small room in NYC. Clean and well located for a morning run in central park or easy access to Columbus circle subway.
In winter the outside bar is closed and the inside bar is ok. Nothing special. The staff are very friendly and accommodate all requests. Walls are very thin. You can hear neighbours and street noises at times; not a big issue. Price very good. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Very tiny but will definitely stay here again! Customer Service was wonderful! Clean and nice! Hopefully they will have the water issue fixed before our next stay.

Magic. Only Philippe Starck can transform a random hotel into one of the best hotels in NY. The atmosphere that he created in the lobby is one of a kind.
Super comfortable beds and soft sheets.
Nice size room with great decor, the shower pressure is very weak and the elevators are too slow, really, really slow

I chose the Hudson because I was going to see a show at Terminal 5, and I wanted a hotel within walking distance. I also wanted a hotel that was fairly easy to get to because I was traveling from central New York. The location was perfect. Getting there was easy. I parked in New Jersey and took the train into Penn station. From there it was a quick ride on the 1 train up to Columbus circle. The hotel is just a block away from the subway exit. Check-in is at 3 and I arrived around 5. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and quick. I was checked in and heading to my room in just a few minutes. The room was very small, I read reviews so I was prepared. While small, about 2 feet all around the queen bed, it was completely adequate. I was only staying one night and not planning on spending much time in the room. There was a small table with a chair, and a closet with a safe and a mini fridge. I needed to print the ticket to the show I was going to so I stopped by the concierge. He was very helpful and got the tickets printed from my email quickly. Before going out, I stopped at the hotel bar for a drink. It very lively with a good selection of beers on tap. if I didn't already have plans I could have happily hung out there for the night. I did not check out the dance club but I'm sure it was just as nice. The walk to the show was quick and easy with plenty of options near by for a drink or bite to eat. Checking out was quick and easy. Check out is at 12:00 but I left around 9:45. There were lots of guests in the lobby, but I didn't have to wait in line because of the abundance of staff at the front desk. Getting home was just as easy as getting there. Over all I was very happy with my stay. I will definitely return, probably with some friends for another show or just a night out.

The Hotel has a good theme to it. Near the lobby you have a bar where sometimes a dj comes in to play some music at the other end there is a restaurant /bar. We booked a double queen bed room. For New York the room was very spacious taking into consideration that this is a boutique hotel. But one friend booked a single bed room and it was so claustrophobic, you could barely move. Other than that it's a nice hotel. Cleaning service was good as well as customer service.

The rooms were small but I hear that it's like that all over NYC. The staff at The Hudson were all so very friendly. The rooms were clean, bed's were not as comfy as home and even though we were on the 23rd floor we could still hear the honking horns, traffic and police sirens. Windows could have been better insulated. We were conveniently located near the finish line of NYC Marathon but we were very happy to be there. We walked all over the Manhattan area and took the subway. This was a great experience for us. We would stay here again if we decided to return to the NYC marathon. again.

The hotel is beautiful and was designed very well. It looks and feels like a five-star hotel.

The first room we got had a bad smell. The hotel staff was quick too correct the issue by upgrading us 2X.

There is no room service which was kind of annoying however easily resolved by ordering takeout that was delivered to the room.

Overall a good experience.

Fancy hotel lobby and great location however the rooms are tiny!! I'm 5ft tall and barely enough room to even walk around the bed. No full size length mirror. There wasn't good lighting in the main room, just a couple of side lamps.

And was up alot during the night, you can hear people walking in hallways and opening and closing doors all night.

Facilities are cool, check out the bar it's a very nice space. The rest of the fit out is a little bit hit or miss, there was a bunch of construction going on out the front when we stayed this may have taken away from the venue. The staff were great super helpful with any questions we had about the hotel or NYC.

This was a comped room with a company I work with that sent me to the NYCWFF. The hotel is very pretty, the lobby is quite grand and there's a mix of old and new as far a decor goes, which makes it very interesting. The lobby is very dark and there was no signage for the different restaurants and bars there. The elevators didn't seem to take as long as other reviewers have said, but they are quite claustrophobic once you're in them.

The rooms are very no-frills, so if you're looking for room service, a microwave, coffee maker etc., you'll need to look elsewhere. There is a small ironing board (you couldn't fit more) and iron and a hair dryer and Malin & Goetz beauty products. YES the rooms are postage-stamp small, but it is NYC. I wasn't thrilled with the window in the shower, especially the fact that the curtain is outside the window and quite sheer.

The room was clean, the bedding was clean and when we asked for different pillows (my fiancée is allergic to down) there was no issue in getting new ones. The staff was friendly and helpful, not overly attentive, but definitely not snobby or uncaring as some have said. The bed was also very comfortable.

If there were just a few more amenities I would be more than happy to stay again, however as it stands I would choose something else the next time I'm in the city.

Great location - I was able to easily jump on the subway and get all over the city. The rooms were very small but well furnished. The service was great though. We had many little requests while we were there and were always given prompt service.
