We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff was great! Amid all the Covid restrictions they really did their best to be as accommodating as possible. We would definitely stay here again. The location is perfect fo exploring Alexandria as well.

It was very nice. No mini fridge in the room, though, which seems like that's a standard thing for rooms to have. Parking was a night mare

We enjoyed a relaxing weekend at the Lorien Hotel. The room was nice and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel staff was really accommodating both Wendell and Syneese were great. We also took advantage of the spa, and the tasting room. We love the mussels. Another great stay at the Lorien.

Only stayed for one night and it was super cute. We had a view of the street and its cute shops. Modern look and the beds were firm, which I personally prefer. The only complaint I have is we could hear our neighbors ENTIRE conversation and they weren't necessarily being loud. Just super thin walls. Luckily we were super tired from walking DC all day and fell asleep easily.

The hotel was clean and beautiful. The staff members were friendly and very helpful. The room was comfortable and the products that were provided exceeded our expectations. The location is great for walking down King Street (near many shops and restaurants). We would definitely stay here again.

I was there for a conference. My breakfast at the restaurant was pretty good. Very comfortable. Their courtyard is a nice place to enjoy weather and it has WiFi so I would work there and get some sun. Not much of a lobby though, so when it started raining it was hard to find a spot to work.

Beautiful hotel. Even better spa! My room, though incredibly stylish, was rather small, which surprised me as it was a king bed accommodating room. The bed wasn't as comfortable as I'd hoped, and the pillows werent great. But there was a well stocked mini-bar stocked. Very polite staff. I mainly stayed so I could spend time at the spa, which I should say again, is wonderful.

The Kimpton Lorien is a very modern and well decorated hotel. There is a nice courtyard entrance and this hotel is pet friendly. I heard great things about the restaurant, spa, and complimentary wine hour but didn't have a chance to partake as I was only there for one night. The king room (612) had the adjoining doors on either side (2 of them) which I am not a fan of when you are staying as a single room. The shower was large, clean and had the rain shower head. Overall a nice location and hotel. Ashley at the front desk is amazing and the valet parking is convenient and quick. The only downside to our stay was the noise of other guests. There was either a wedding party or girls night or something that was loud past midnight.

There was no indication that the room was suite style with the doors being shared between rooms. Sound carries easily and we easily heard our neighbors. They weren't loud, thankfully. Other than that, the hotel was very clean and in a great location.

Part of a family throwing a birthday party there. Staff were very accommodating and helpful, going above and beyond to make sure we had things we needed. However, the food we were served was VERY bad. Most was cold and inadequately seasoned, with one dish being so unpalatable more than one guest referenced food more fit for pets. I've heard that the restaurant food is good, and if I return I'd have to try it.

Alexandria is just beautiful and this hotel fits in perfectly. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are well appointed and the hotel itself is beautifully decorated. Fair warning...the beds a very comfortable and hard to leave. The hotel is very well situated with easy access to metro, major thoroughfares are close by and old town is an easy stroll down King St.

We came off of recommendations of others who have stayed, for the modern feeling rooms, and as a close inexpensive option as opposed to staying physically in DC to explore. Both of us, by the middle of our week long stay were in so much pain from the bed it wasn't funny. I can't tell you how rare that is. The only other negatives were the price of food from their restaurant and the horrid ability to get an order right via room service. I know you would say room service prices are just that way.. I checked. The food prices were the same eating downstairs except for the room service fee. I've eaten at some of the finest steak houses in NYC and paid those prices. This was not that in comparison imo. Other than that, the staff were extremely friendly. A great gem of hospitality. We also enjoyed their toiletries.. I don't often mention that aspect in my reviews! They also seemed to host a wonderful wedding reception there. In speaking with those guests attending it, they thoroughly enjoyed.

The hotel was gorgeous and comfortable. The staff were friendly but not overly accommodating. The manager was amazing, guy with black hair and black framed glasses. I had a few issues. The drive-up situation was unclear. No sign saying park/pull-up here. It just looked like you were guessing this was where you should park. The restaurant to get breakfast was delicious, but the walk there was annoying because of the rain. Had to get an umbrella out just to walk 50 feet or so get breakfast. Also wish there were more places to sit and study. The day I was there, there was some sort of conference happening in the study area and I couldn't find a place to set up my laptop to work (I don't really like being cooped up in the room all day). Otherwise, it really was a wonderful stay. I would definitely recommend it and stay again.

One of the most beautiful hotels I've stayed in. It might sound weird but they have the softest carpeting in the hallways. Its like walking on a cloud. The King Deluxe room we stayes in was on the small side. Parking is horrible. The ajoined restaurant is fantastic. Staff is not that knowledgeable and I was charged for services I did not receive. Had to call several times to have them removed. King Street is amazing and the selection of eateries are top notch. Not so great for families with young children or anyone not looking to spend a little extra. Not a very diverse area either but hey, it happens.

Stayed at the lorien while our apartment was renovated. Nice modern design in the room. Although it has some quirks. Shower while nice and modern doesn't have anywhere to put things. The one shelf in the shower is full from the full size amenity bottels of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The room is a little small but it's old Town. The staff has been very nice but they move very slowly if you request anything.

No rooms with bathtubs were available. The agent checking me in said that I would be able to get a rain shower room instead, but didn't and u didn't discover this until I got up to my room. The light in the bathroom flickered on and off. Otherwise my stay was nice and the premises was clean.

Stopped in for Sunday brunch for two. I had the corned beef hash which was excellent, large pieces of meat. My wife had the waffles with smoked salmon which was also delicious. Our waiter was excellent, we never felt like he was hovering over us but he checked on us frequently. Overall I would recommend, we will be going back.

What an amazing spa! I loved it there, Kristin at the front desk was so nice and helpful and got me all set up. They have everything you need, the ribs are so comfy. Anastasia was an incredible masseuse, she worked out all sorts of knots. The glass of champagne at the end was the perfect touch. I would definitely go again and would recommend it to anyone!

My last visit to The Lorien was only for dinner and drinks, but I've stayed and eaten there many times. Kimpton properties are generally excellent, but this location exceeds even that high standard. Try the Brabo Tasting Room for a really unique experience.

When I checked in, there was some confusion as to which room I booked. I thought I booked the room with a bathtub - turns out it was the one with the shower despite the description stating there was a separate bathtub. Started off frustrated right away with the lack of empathy from their front desk staff.

When I did get in my room, the dog beds and litter box were waiting as requested. That was a plus. I immediately noticed how run down the room was though. This was an upgrade from the basic king room, yet the furniture was dinged, scratched, and the leather chair was peeling and cracked. I felt like I was staying at a motel, not a four star hotel. The mirror in the bathroom was coming out of the wall and hanging off the tile. The Lamp by the bed was hanging crooked. The bed frame was cracked.

Needless to say I was not impressed.

Not satisfied. The service, the facility and the overall experience was nothing like I was expecting. The sauna was moldy. Staff kept walking through the relaxation room and I got to hear more than a couple clients complaining over the phone about unfilled requests. The hotel seems nice tho.

This hotel is comfortable, like really comfortable. I spend over 100 days a year in hotels across the country and I slept better in the Lorien then anywhere else I've been; including my own bed! They also have an amazing restaurant. I cant speak to the spa though as I'm not a spa guy.

This isn't a hotel for business travelers, as much as it is for leasure and relaxation travelers. Great energy. If I ever actually get a girlfriend, I'm planning on bringing her here.

Nice hotel but no frills really. The bathroom doors are barn doors which make going to the bathroom pretty uncomfortable but that's a personal opinion. The hotel also doesn't have a pool which i found strange but if your in Alexandria I suppose you're notbspending much time in the room anyway.

Not for the hotel, but for the patio of Brabo Tasting Room, which is in the hotel's courtyard. Good place for happy hour. The happy hour wines are always good, and reasonably priced. Food is good too. I've had all of the flstbreads, and they're all good. The charcuterie plates are very good. Mussels are delicious. Bread is amazing. The happy hour punch is hit or miss. But usually tasty. Overall a very nice place to eat, drink and talk.

I was here on business and for a retirement dinner recently. It is set back off of the street and can be a little hard to find the entrance at first. Which actually is a nice thing as it is off a busy street. Once inside it was cozy and quaint. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner here as well as a cocktail hour and everything was delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly and the spaces were all very comfortable. I didn't get a chance to stay in a room but I'd go back again for a night if the chance came up.

I loved my experience here. Although they may have been extra attentive because it was my first visit, I really doubt it after seeing them interact with every other guest. We had a nice, romantic night at Lorien for my wife's birthday. It started off worrisome, as our room wasn't ready, but it turned into an upgrade to a beautiful suite. We nixed our plans to hit up one of the restaurants on King Street, and decided to order room service from Brabo. Food came quickly and in perfect order, and was quite tasty. All of the staff were very polite, friendly and attentive to our needs. We will stay again soon.

I've stayed at this location six or seven times now and each time, it is the same level of Kimpton excellence. Cozy lobby, and excellent affiliate dining spaces. This review is for the Lorien Spa only. As a treat to ourselves, my boyfriend and I decided to get facials and massages this weekend. Since we live in Old Town, we walked over to the spa and booked an appointment with the staff onsite. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. We asked to see the shower rooms prior to making an appointment, which they allowed. They also took the time to explain the packages. We were hoping for a couples' massage but ultimately decided to get separate packages since a couples' massage for 50 minutes is $310. I chose the Sweet Dreams package, which includes a massage, facial, and scalp massage (115 minutes for $250). My boyfriend opted for the Gentlemen's Dream package, which includes a deep therapeutic massage and a facial (100 minutes for $220). Even though we couldn't be in the same room together for the massage, the staff made a note to have both our facials start at the same time and assured us that we would have time together in the relaxation room.

Come Sunday, we headed back to Lorien. One of the ladies handed us keys to our lockers and a binder with a small pamphlet to fill out. She led me to the ladies' shower room and explained everything in there. My locker contained a robe, flip flops, and an extra large fluffy towel. The shower room has a vanity with seats where you can blow-dry and style your hair. There are large containers on an adjacent bookshelf that have makeup remover wipes, combs, and exfoliating pads. There's a steam room and a large sink with cleanser, body lotion, mouthwash, and facial mist.

Across from the shower room is the relaxation room. There's a table with teas and cucumber water. Seats 8 with chairs and benches backed with huge pillows and surrounded with candles, diffuser scented sticks, and orchids. There are magazines for pleasure reading as well. We waited in the relaxation room before our facial specialists. Ludmila did my facial and she was very gentle. She cleansed, exfoliated, and steamed my face first before doing the extractions. I've never had a professional do extractions on my face before, so there was certainly more pressure and pain but that's to be expected. Ludmila advised me to use certain products for my acne-prone skin and said she will bring some recommended Kerstin Florian products to the front desk. Afterwards, she did a natural enzyme peel, a deep cleansing facial massage, hand and arm massage, and a scalp massage with lavender oils. The facial was wonderful and my skin felt so smooth and clean afterwards. Jason did my massage. He was very gentle and targeted my problem areas (neck, shoulders).

All in all, it was a very, very relaxing afternoon. I thoroughly enjoyed both my facial and massage. It's a bit on the pricey end, with both our packages and tip coming out to be over $600. The specialists are all fantastic and staff are wonderful. Great little pick-me-up!

Stayed at the Lorien for a business meeting for the Lancaster Chamber.

Things I enjoyed. Very clean, super nice staff, free wifi, Dunkin Donuts around the corner, and everything is walking distance or take the free trolly that runs you to the other end of town.

My recommendations. Have your vehicle valeted, these guys are the best. I forgot my phone charger in the car, front desk called the valet and they went to retrieve it for me, no questions asked. They asked me what I was looking to do during my down time, when I told them antiques, they googled all the local shops walking distance from the hotel. They went above and beyond their job description.

I would stay here again.
