Kavvayi itself, is a small group of islands in the Kannur district of Kerala. The Kavvayi river makes for the most spectacular kayaking experience, through the Kavvayi backwaters replete with mangroves and all the wildlife associated with it. The waters are shallow and the mangroves are spread across the riverbed.

This is one of Kerala's most scenic spots, and the fragile ecosystem of the mangroves makes it a conserved area. The campsite offers kayaking trips twice a day, with other activities such as live barbecues and music. Don't miss the night kayaking experience and the bio-luminance, much like the Life of Pi. Of special mention is the laterite hill trek, which conceals patches of biodiversity rich small groves.
