The hotel itself is nice and clean, but there is something wrong with the management here. Everything says check-in is at 4. We called and asked for an early check-in, and they made it sound like that was moving mountains. Arrived at 2, room wasn't ready. Room still wasn't ready at 4:30 when we came back. Their excuse was housekeeping is on a different schedule than they are...what?
We had to go to a wedding, and they would not give us the keys in advance. This is the short version of a really long day and night. All that was offered to make up for this was a cheap bottle of wine...thanks?
Would not recommend if you need to use your room before 6:30 p.m.

I usually stay at Homewood Suites while traveling for work, but decided to give it a try for leisure. This hotel offers breakfast and an evening reception Mon-Thurs. It's proximity to Legoland, Costco, many Dining options, Carlsbad Village & Carlsbad State Beach is definitely a bonus. It's also not far from the I-5 Freeway (about 3 miles). It's about 30 min from San Diego without traffic. Salvador at the front desk went above & beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. He even made a special snack delivery to our room. Even the housekeeping team on our floor were friendly and tidied up nicely each afternoon. Note: remember to tip them. They work very hard to make sure the rooms are clean & comfy. We enjoyed the option of being able to have breakfast each morning. The evening receptions are a nice touch, especially if you're traveling on a budget. It's basically a light dinner with complimentary beer & wine. You really can't beat that for the price. We'll definitely stay at this location again when we're in the Carlsbad area. It's a convenient location with a lot of bang for your buck.

Lovely! We stayed for a week, family of 7, a chiweenie and a bearded dragon! Felt welcomed the minute we walked in the door. Our room was spacious and very comfortable! Staff is amazing and so friendly and helpful. Morning breakfast is delicious. Waffle bar and always eggs, meats, breads, potatoes, fruit, yogurt etc. Very plentiful! Mon-Thurs evening reception is amazing. Could definitely make it dinner if you wanted. Soups, salads, breads. Had burgers and all the trimmings one night, cheese, crackers, fruit, salad,chips and salsa another. Just a lot of yummy offerings.

Nice, clean hotel. Friendly staff. I was there on business and they gave me a far back room away from the pool. I asked why, she explained l: "sir, we are 3 miles from Legoland and get lots of families. You'll appreciate being away from the pool." I walked by the pool a couple times during my stay: I appreciated my room location. How thoughtful of her!

My family has been in a tough financial situation for a while now and the staff here has been nothing but exceptional. The desk staff are very friendly and the food is amazing. We have been living here long term and the quality of the rooms in amazing.

We came with two kids and a plan to play at the beach, Lego Land, and Sea World. This hotel was perfect! They even provided is some beach toys! The evening reception was a surprise... some nights we ended up not going out for dinner!

Hotel was great sized for our family of 7 with a nice kitchenette and very clean. But I was honestly surprised on how bad the breakfast was. With our family size, That is always a huge thing for us but when our 16 month old even turns away the food, you know there's a problem.

The hotel location was convenient and there was a ping pong table, hot tub, pool, and gym. The food there was good and the rooms were nice.

Front desk staff was very friendly and professional. The room was clean and the perfect temperature. Pool was a tad cold, but the hot tub made up for it. Great outdoor space with ping pong, corn hole, and grills. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel however, the staff was is not. We checked in online and had an electronic key to open our room but it did not work. Had to go back and recheck in again. They system needs improvement. After check out we found out they charged us when they were not supposed to thankfully we noticed by checking the credit card statement. Had to call and figure it out weeks after our stay. The hotel itself is nice and seemed clean.

Quiet location away from the highway but convenient, nice area. Rooms include a kitchenette. Coffee and good selection of teas are available in the lobby area at all times. Hot breakfast buffet, good selection.

Amazing value. 2 separate room with kign size beds. Separate living area with a kitchen that has everything you need including plates, pans, utensils and cups. Great for an extended stay with family or for a family trip to Legoland. Great little breakfast spot close by called Beach Plumb.

Really awesome hotel! Love the suites, super convenient with kids and great location for going to Legoland. The only reason I docked a star is because the food is not freshly prepared and there is no charging for electric vehicles.

Love having a kitchen in the room, with small kids, eating out is a nightmare. Staff is really friendly. Enjoyed the free dinner/cocktails that run m-th. Really close to restaurants, shops, gas, the beach and Legoland. Breakfast options are also great.

Stayed here for a few weeks and enjoyed a lovely suite with kitchen, pets are welcome, which is paramount. The breakfast and happy hour was great.

The hotel was lovely. It was close to Legoland, not far from the beach at all. And the two room suite was perfect for the family. Breakfast was typical fare, but pizza night was a huge hit with my kid. I enjoyed the stay.

Was there quite a bit early. Hotel staff was very accommodate and friendly; allowed early check in and let us pick one of the available rooms. Room equipped with a full kitchen... Better than hotels that we paid more than double... Overall new, clean, and quiet... Excellent breakfast. As a frequent traveler, I highly recommend this hotel.

My husband & I stayed here for approximately 4 months. The staff treated us like family and made sure we always had everything we needed! Kaitlyn, Vanessa, and Angel constantly made us feel welcome and took great care of us! Oh, and our 90lb German Shephard, Iris, will miss all of you!!!

We stayed here for a week and it has been an amazing trip. They offer breakfast daily, and a "light" dinner which was actually really filling. Awesome friendly staff, and clean rooms. Quite property despite seeing kids and dogs. The rooms were large enough for my husband, myself, and our toddler. Separate bedroom made it easy for naps and earlier kid bedtimes.

I went there to visit a friend staying at the place. They have nice and spacious suites. Walkable to Max linear. The suite had a nice poolside view.

This is a great place to stay when going to Legoland. It's only about 10 minutes away, and has excellent amenities. The free hot breakfast was great. There were so many options: Eggs, waffles, yogurt, oatmeal, bagels, sausage, spicy potatoes, french toast, cereal... It definitely is not the continental breakfast of other hotels. The rooms are nice. They are new, spacious, quiet, and well maintained. My only gripes are: the shower is oddly high making stepping in and out a little awkward; the kitchen is also tiny, and parking is horrendous - there are not nearly enough spaces and more than likely none close to your room. The hotel entrance is also hidden off of Yarrow. If you use the hotel address for your GPS you will likely have to turn around in the shopping plaza down the street when you don't turn onto Yarrow.

Great room with plenty of space and nice accommodations. Good breakfast provided at no charge and evening social with craft beer on tap were convenient and tasty! Workout room equipment was nice and funtioned well. Wonderful staff and free shuttle within 5 mile radius.

About my only complaint is that the hotel is positioned weirdly and just screwy to find the entrance, but that's it. Otherwise, the people were very friendly, my room was very clean, (and smelled clean) and just comfortable to be in after traveling, especially the bed. Family friendly with a great pool and hot tub, decent breakfast consisting of eggs, fruit, cereal and other things. And well positioned with a number of restaurants around. If you need to travel to that area, check this place out.

Utilized and appreciated both meals. Shuttle to Legoland or Beach is available but limited. Not on a timed route, must schedule ahead of time. Personable shuttle drivers. Had issue with noisy fridge that was taken care of quickly by a very nice maintenance man. Across from small airport- could sometimes hear airplane noise in parking lot, but not at all in room. Absolutely would stay here again. Would recommend. 😄✔️

Great place to visit when you're spending time in northern San Diego. They are very close to Lego Land and have free shuttle service multiple times a day, or you can schedule a specific time. The included breakfast is generally pretty good, just be there by 7am to avoid the mass of humanity and people who think it's ok to walk around barefoot in pajamas in the dining room. Dinner is hit or miss, and built off of serving a salad as the main course with varying toppings and sides. The complementary wine and beer on tap make staying for dinner worth it. The beer selection is pretty good with Shock Top, Stone IPA and Goose Island.

excellent in every way.beautiful view of the ocean from our room. Room was clean and beds were comfortable, nice idea with the two TV's. Did not have room service because we were attending a Gala there for New Years Eve

The room was very comfortable and they served a great variety of food for breakfast. Dinner wasn't huge like breakfast was, but it was okay. No meats, just soup, salad, trail mix and nuts. It came with wine so I guess I can't complain. If you want something heavier, I suggest having some sort of backup afterwards.

I always love Homewood Suites and the Carlsbad location is no exception. The employees were all great. The guestroom and entire hotel were modern and clean and seemed to be in really good shape. The bed was comfortable and the room as a whole exceeded expectations. The weeknight evening reception is 99% of the reason I always try to book Homewood. The snacks were better than expected as far as "complimentary" food goes, and the selection of beers on tap was really impressive. The wine was also perfectly acceptable. The employee pouring was really friendly and welcoming. I'm genuinely looking forward to the next time I have to stay in the area so that I can enjoy the snacks and beers again.

We stayed 4 nights, it was great to be at the suite this time. *BBQ grill (by the pool) - Next time, we will try. *Free Breakfast -We love making waffles. Wish there were more selections on fruits.

Using my app and found this. I seldom stay at Homewood and it is right beside the Hampton. When I arrived at night, the parking was pretty packed. I think they should have a larger parking space, given that it is right beside the Hampton. The room was good and I had a 2 room suite. I paid $120.51 total for the suite. The breakfast is a bit hectic because the dining area was full of people. A lot of families were staying there and the food was gone quite quickly during breakfast time. It is right across the airport.

One bed room with kitchen. Small but enough room for 2 small kids and us. They provide daily breakfast and light dinner Mon -Thu. We love here so much we stay here every year. Staff are exceptional and caring.

Probably just bad timing but, checked in late only to find the hotel had no power. No power=no wifi and my cell reception wasn't the best. Power was restored the next day but no wifi for the rest of our stay. That being said, staff was friendly and did their best to accommodate. Proximity to Legoland is perfect and that is really all we came for.

Nice, clean, and friendly. Spent the night there on the way to Legoland. They offer a shuttle service there and were affordable. Also, they had pack and plays available for my twins.

It didn't look very promising from the outside at first, but the room proved to be very comfortable. Clean beyond reproach, from sheets and linens, to silverware and dishes in the kitchen. Quiet, too. Updated decor, convenient layout of the suite, large closet. I will be staying there again, if i'm in the area.

This place is very clean, especially being a pet friendly hotel. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Great evening reception (Monday-Thursday 5-7 PM) that serves hot food, cold beverages, coffee and beer 🍺. And they have complimentary breakfast. All rooms are suites, like staying in a mini apartment. Recommend to stay here!

Love this place. It was a nice place to stay while visiting Lego land with my family. The thing I like the most is that it's like a mini apartment has a full on kitchen also it has doors from the living room to the bedroom for privacy.

Updated rooms very nice. Swimming pool is 3½ to 5 feet deep. Free breakfast every day and if you stay Monday thru Thursday there is a management reception which offered dinner meals, drinks and snacks for a two hour period 5pm to 7pm. Shuttle to and from Legoland must be reserved. Family loved this place the rooms a suites: dishwasher,stove top, microwave, big refrigerator, utensils

Great venue for large events. The dining room is amazing and the catering was just delicious. Drinks are not really worth getting, though. Speakeasy are better and the same price.

Excellent. We stayed on 11.7.15. Saturday. Place was clean. Rooms were nice. Pool area and hot tub were nice and well kept up as well. Breakfast always a plus too. And the eating area was nice and clean as well and not too crowded. Nice to sit in there and watch TV if you want to as well. Overall excellent.

Maid service is a bit sloppy/careless, but overall service and amenities are terrific!

Friendly staff. Better rates than the hiked up prices along the coast and still only 5 minutes extra away from the beach. Business Center printed some e-tickets straight from my smartphone for no charge. Good continental breakfast. Only thing keeping it from a 5th star is that there is no view and the carpets need updated.
