Honestly disappointing. The service was top notch and the staff really tried to make up for an aging property that is begging for an upgrade.

This is truly a 3 star hotel rooms and bathrooms are small and outdated. Ocean view room have nice views of Atlantic Ocean. The breakfast buffet is just ok not as nice as other JW hotels. The executive lounge is good place to have a quite moment except 6 to 9 pm during happy hours. The location is great it’s on Copacabana beach. Small but function fitness center the roof top moon lounge is good place to hang out

The staff are pretty spectacular hence 4 stars instead of 3. The property itself is closer to Marriott quality than JW. The pool photos are very deceiving. The spa had good services. Concierge lounge staff is amazing but the food selection is limited in comparison to other JW. The bellman and door staff are very good and accommodating. The concierge and front desk team were one of the best I have experienced at any SPG property (hats off to Carmen and Elvira). We did have an amazing upgraded suite with 2 rooms. The hard wood floors in the room were impressive and my daughter loved having both a bath and shower.

My wife and I enjoyed the extreme good fortune to stay at the five star JW Marriott Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro from November 28 until December 1. From the check in, the experience was superb. Elvira, the front desk professional, epitomized customer service.

The staff recognized us and called us by name whether it was lobby or dining and very solicitous of how they could help us. They made our stay a delight and we are very happy to recommend the JW Marriott Copacabana Beach for your next date in Rio.

The spa service, available at the top floor, offers a decent massage and a very average dry sauna. You can choose between a relaxing message (220 reais) and a deep tissue massage (280 reais), among others. The rooms lack the sea view, which the likes of Hilton or Sofitel offer, but they are relatively quiet and well-organized. Overall, the infrastructure is rather old, with just one shower available at the cloak room and an old woodden bench in the sauna space, which gets overheated all the time.

Big kudos to the gym folks - the machines are all brand new and the view is amazing.

Great staff, was here celebrating my birthday, the staff decorated my room with balloons and provided a celebratory cake. They went above and beyond to make my special occasion a memorable one.

I was pleased with everything JW Marriott had to offer. It is located in an excellent location. The service provided was 100% on point!

This JW Marriott is just across the street from the beach so the location is quite good. The hotel itself is older and feels more like a Marriott than a JW Marriott. There are not as many amenities as one might expect. Nevertheless, the staff were helpful and you are in Rio. One suggestion is to take up the hotel on their offer of transportation to and from the airport in part for security reasons.

Highly disappointing if you’re expecting the standards usually associated with the distinguished label of JW Marriott. While the staff were excellent, the facility is struggling to make 3 Stars look fitting. Maybe there are different floors, but our deluxe ocean view king room cake with mold and bubbling trim in the bathroom, exposed electrical wires are a broken shelf in the closet, and a distinctly funky smell of mildew. The views from the rooftop are great, but the pool is tiny and the bar meager. If you’re looking for 4 to 5 Star places on Copacabana then definitely avoid. We ended up walking over to the Belmond Copacabana Palace twice to dine there and wish we were staying there to enjoy their wonderful facilities and true top class service.

Beautiful hotel located right on the seafront of copacabana beach. Got a room with the view and its unparalleled in nature. Excellent amenities and facilities including a rooftop pool. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice place to stay at while in Rio de Janeiro.

Situated in a great location on Copacabana beach as a swim pool on roof terrace I had sea view the staff couldn't do enough for you and you had coffee facility's in room had a great time and I would stay here again thank you Marriott's you didn't disappoint.

We spent two nights here at the JW Marriott. We had a lovely oceanfront junior suite, a great full bathroom and a powder bathroom in the entry, a decent sized separate bedroom, and a small living room. The suite had two modern TVs,. And the decor, although dated, seemed just right for the settings. The hotel food was fine, and the entire establishment was clean and comfortable. It was a nice haven of tranquility in Rio, where I did not otherwise feel particularly comfortable or safe.

This is one of the best hotels on planet earth. The free breakfast is a gourmet delight. The staff is wonderful. Security is excellent. The rooms are comfortable.

The hotel was really nice. It is in a good location as well, just in front of the beach. Some rooms have a sea view, but most of them look indoors, into the hotel itself. The staff is good also.

Tendo trabalhado no hotel posso dizer que ele é uma Jóia. Excelente localização, no centro da praia de Copacabana e esquina com a rua Santa Clara, que tem amplo comércio. Comparados a outros hotéis seus quaetos são pequenos, porém muito luxuosos e confortáveis. A área de eventos em seu subsolo é composta por varias salas com propósito variado.

It has been a really nice experience , the hall is great has a lot of space and a nice at conditioner for hot days , the rooms are quite nice , with a nice hot bath and a nespresso machine, the best part is the view to Copacabana beach

This place is my go to in Rio, it is on the Copa cabana, the decor is a bit dated, but the rooms are fresh and clean. The roof top bar is nice and serves great burgers (try the mush burger), it does close at 10pm on most nights so don't be late.

My only beef with the place is that the airco is quite loud and given Rios climate you do need it on.

Upscale hotel at the heart of the famous Copacabana Beach. Warm and professional staff treats you very well and helps to make your stay pleasant. Great breakfast is served at the restaurant on the 2nd floor. The executive lounge on the 9th floor overlooks the beach and features beer and wines among other warm food and deserts in the evenings. Treated very well here and look forward to returning.

The JW Marriott is a premium Hotel" with top class service in a world famous beach, it is new and well designed has all types of services available!

Friend was staying there so I went to go visit. I have always walked past it and this was the first time I went inside, and it was amazing. It felt very fancy and luxurious and the Piano there was in good order. However, I felt it was unnecessary for the reception to need my ID before entering, despite the fact that I obviously did not look dangerous. However, it is a policy of theirs so I guess points for keeping that up. But seriously, if the guest wants to bring in a guest, it should be up to the guard's discretion to decide whether they're dangerous and worth being identified.

Right on Copa Cabana Beach, one of the nicer hotels there but rooms are very small and dated. Would have ranked lower but the staff was overly friendly. There is a small pool, balcony, and exercise room on the roof. Nice views up there of the whole strip on Copa Cabana Beach.

Excellent hotel, I have stayed here every time I have come to Rio. I love the staff, I love the food and rooms, the amenities are plenty, and the view is great. You are right across from the beach and you can take a cab anywhere! Many great places to eat and wonderful nightlife within walking distance.

Excellent location, the JW Marriott is the middle of Copacabana beach, which allows running early in the morning towards both direction (Leme-north or Ipanema-south), as well as easily taking a taxi cab to any place in Rio. The Hotel is expensive for what if offers. It used to be more fancy, but nowadays seems a little decadent (dark room, public attendance in the evening). The restaurant in the lobby takes a long time to deliver the food if you intend to have dinner with your colleagues (prefer going out and enjoy Copacabana´s pleasant atmosphere)

Conference room was spacious and comfortable, audio & video equipment worked perfectly, drinks & food service was very good.

Such a nice place. I've gone just to have a breakfast and a massage at their Health Club and I had all the attention of the staff during the time I spent there. It's clear why they're year after year the best place to work in Rio. Definitely my favorite hotel in Rio.

My favourite hotel in Rio de Janeiro. Waking up and being to walk out the door straight onto Copacabana is great. The rooms without a view look onto the inside of the hotel which isn't great, but you shouldn't be spending anytime in the room anyway! Be sure to visit the pool and bar on the roof for great views of the beach.

Great hotel. Great views of the beach. I always prefer going with lounge access. You can eat an entire high quality meal overlooking the beach in the lounge and not bother to go out for dinner.

Rooms are nice. Beds are comfortable and service is good. I prefer this hotel over the others in the area.

This is a great hotel - excellent service. The Concierge lounge is amazing. I definitely would want to come back to this hotel if coming to Rio again.

Safe, clean, good service. Great rooftop deck and drinks. Location is amazing, though Copacabana Beach is slightly older area.

For a first class traveller try to avoid this dirty,smelly and dangerous city. Nothing really to see or do. If you enjoy a dirty sweaty and crowded beach with lots of ugly overweight people looking to rip you off then by all means come.
The hotel offers absolutely no service and is a haven and trap for H Stern jewelry concern who are solicitors like a 3rd rate flea market.
Spend your money wisely. Do not come to this over priced hotel if you don't want to be corralled into the masses as they are pulled and shofelled through the lobby with bags and crying children at toe.Expect delays and a myriad of excuses and apologies when checking in.

note the empty beach scenery pix , empty lobby pix and empty street scene -void of low class and dangerous people..... they had good reasons to not really show them under daily use. do not be fooled!!!

Right on Copacabana beach. Rooms facing the ocean are low in number, small but adequate. Business lounge is excellent and the staff, like all Marriotts, are friendly, effective and fluent in English. Decent gym and room terrace. Nice sushi bar too.
