A wonderful resort, feels like a dreamland and definitely recommended for a couple of nights! The only disappointing factor was the spa, as much as the staff was friendly and helpful, yet the massage wasn’t as good as the ones we’ve had in other six senses! The wine tasting experience was really nice and the breakfast was excellent.

Your hotel is in a fantastic location and placement in the terrain is fabulous! We loved the hotel grounds, especially the herb garden.
We had an exquisite room. The only drawback was that it was next to the stairwell so it was necessary to lower the curtains to ensure privacy. But minor detail!
The restaurants provided great food and service. We joined the BBQ night, a great way to bond with other guests. The breakfast spread is impressive and a must.
The Spa is very nice and relaxing. The gym is spacious and well equipped. We had the space all to ourselves!
We had a great time at the wine tasting, the wine guy did a great job!
The only drawback; You have a very good wine list. Too bad the mark-up is more than 100%.

I wish I could have stayed more time to enjoy the hotel facilities. Excellent service. Attentive and efficient. We knew Aquapura. The hotel upgrade is remarkable. Not only with decoration ( much brighter rooms) and confort. Service was upgraded to. In my next stay you're going to try the spa and the restaurant. We have excellent references from our friends so we are looking forward to be back in October.

Great hotel, location, food and wine services. Few issues with our villa - lighting very poor, nowhere to put toiletries in main bathroom, no towel hooks and sometimes only one towel would be replaced in each bathroom. Other than that it was very comfortable and spacious.

Amazing hotel, with exceptional facilities. We feel so fortunate to have stayed here and we will definitely be coming back next year.
The Spa was wonderful, especially the IR sauna. The views of the river, valley and vineyards are breathtaking and the room are fantastic and we especially like the use of the smartphone.

An unforgettable experience from start to end ! Service was impeccable, very attentive and personalised. All colleagues knew us by name , it was quite genuine and impressive. The onsite activities were excellent and there was no time to cover them all ! Pure relaxation weekend and one of the best spas in the world! It was one of the places which I find it very difficult to leave and cant wait to return again!

This is indeed one of the best places to stay in Portugal. Where everything is amazing, the space is gorgeous, the staff is incredible, food is out of this world. It’s the perfect place to relax and de-stress. The spa is mandatory as well as a massage.

A few days of utter heaven in the Douro valley.

The attention to detail is second to none. Staff could not be nicer or more helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely walks, comfortable room with fabulous views, a fantastic spa and the most amazing restaurants you can imagine (breakfast was truly extraordinary!). We did the chef's table and were looked after by Louis and Rui and could not believe how fantastic and intimate it felt even though we were in the heart of the main kitchen, 10 courses of dining magic. Wine tasting was wonderful and informative and left us wanting to know much more about this fantastic and little known part of Portugal.

Thank you so much, we really could not have enjoyed ourselves more and came back refreshed and determined to revisit as soon as possible.

Lovely place both to wind down, if budget is not an issue, or have business meetings (they have meeting room facilities). Nice wine selection. Come in the right season if you want to enjoy the outside infinity pool. Very friendly staff.

Unfortunately I didn’t know about this place and in my last night someone told me to check it and to go there for a drink. It’s the most stunning boutique hotel that I ever saw, the design of the place is simply unbelievable.. In every detail you can see it. simply amazing !
they have 5* spa super professional. the view from the hotel it’s something outstanding, the perfect place to relax and enjoy. the staff so friendly and nice. next time I must come and stay for few days.. this place really moved me.

I thought that our stay was excellent. Every member of staff was superb. Faultless service from everyone that we had contact with. The quality of the food and amenities were equally excellent. The Spa services were as good as I have experienced.

This was one of the most outstanding stays we have ever had at a resort. The property is beautiful, the rooms and beds are so comfortable, the spa is wonderful and the focus on wine kept us very happy. The personal touch of Nick the general manager as well as every staff member made our stay. In particular Acácio was outstanding, his knowledge and friendliness and our trip even more special. Davide in the wine bar was also wonderful, knowledgeable and a joy to talk to. Paulo our bellman was a wealth of knowledge and so friendly. The whole team was outstanding. And the food is absolutely perfect, breakfast in particular was a delight but dinner was also top notch. We can’t wait to come back.

I wished we had stayed longer!!! This resort and location are fabulous. The staff are very accommodating and very helpful prior to and during our stay. The food was heavenly as were the wine pairings and tastings. We will be visiting again in the near future and highly recommend this resort and location to everyone.

This is one of the best hotels in the Douro region. Absolutely amazing! Rooms are big and very well equipped and kept. The SPA is great, with a big swimming pool and diferente steam and water treatments. Outdoor pool is amazing and great use in the summer time. 5 star service with the right amount of informality. Top!

My husband and I just celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary this week at Six Senses Douro Valley. The experience we had was nothing less than spectacular. The staff made our stay beyond special. This property is magical made up of a wonderful team of caring people and of course the staff dog Agua. I was sad leaving but happy knowing I can one day return.

A bit too corporate for my taste. Grounds and property are beyond gorgeous but interior very corporate like a nice Hyatt type property. Very little authentic character. Staff went above and beyond for us however including going out of their way helping with their tech support team to fix our computer that suddenly stopped working. There were however inconsistencies with service. Some went way above and beyond and some weren't as knowledgeable. Overall pleasant experience but not quite what I was expecting from a six senses property

Te only reason why I'm rating my stay as adequate and not very good was because of an issue we had with the heating. Both ours and our parents' rooms were so hot during our first night, that we simply couldn't sleep. Worse, our baby got sick. Despite being unable to sleep my parents didn't bother complaining, but warned someone in the staff nthe very next morning. Yet no one informed the manager. On the other hand, we first warned the hotel there was an issue at 9PM, and asked them to please take it seriously as our 4 month old daughter was staying in the room with us. Not only did my husband have to call reception several times, but at 5AM the room suddenly became very cold, which caused our baby to fall ill. Even though I requested to speak to manager, no one bothered to contact me and only when I expressed my surprise at such lack of interest did the manager come to see me. She couldn't have been nicer (just like everyone else in the hotel), but when our bill was amended we only got 50% off on our first night. The lack of initiative or real concern became even more obvious at hotel's attempt to make some money even when they knew that their guests hadn't slept and that a baby became ill due to their carelessness. I'm not very into conflicts and decided to drop it but having family working in the hospitality industry I was very unimpressed. We heard many excuses regarding the air-con system... I'd suggest you simply fix it and should it happen again, show your guests a bit more of sympathy.

This was my first ever visit to Portugal and I was so impressed with my first stop - Porto.
However nothing prepared me for the Six Senses Douro Valley. The hotel is simply perfect. I loved the welcoming atmosphere with subdued lighting that magnificently offset the gorgeous views.
My room was lovely - a tranquil haven with rich touches of gold. Best of all was the bed. I have not slept through the night for many years. Here, I did. So thank you for that. Nice amenities too.
The breakfast was amazing and next time, I hope to sample the wine and cheese pairings/tastings!
I must also mention the spa. I had two treatments - a massage and a facial. Both were really special, administered by two therapists who clearly are very well trained and professional. I felt great after both spa sessions.
Last but not least, the team at SSDV is fantastic. Everyone was so warm, polite and friendly. Superb service.
I hope to visit you again soon and get out and about in the vineyards and on the river.

Wonderful experience from arrival until departure. The staff went above and beyond and was very friendly and thoughtful. The hotel was extremely well maintained. Taking advantage of this space, and since I forgot to inform the staff, there was an electrical outlet in the bed frame that was not working (room 404).
The spa experience was from another world.

A perfect place full of great food, wine, and wonderful staff. You could spend a week their every year of your life and have no regrets about it. See it in all the seasons, and if possible try to include a meal at DOC during your visit.

There is nothing you need to change about Your Hotel. It is perhaps the best hotel experience years of travel. The internet was fast enough to allow streaming of my sling box in HD from Los Angeles, the food was excellent but most of all your staff was friendly, enthusiastic, and well informed. I can not recommend Your Hotel high enough. Great job.

The Douro Valley is simply gorgeous and the most fantastic Hotel Six Senses Douro Valley in this placew is amazing. Besides the 50 rooms at the hotel is also have 5 apartments and 2 vilas with private pool. For a more private stay and more wonderful experiences with an outoftheordinary river view. Because life is meant to be enjoyed. It is for me the best hotel all arround the world ! Visit this beautiful valley with an amazing hotel and enjoy all your senses .

The Staff is amazing. They are warm, freindly and knowledgable! They make you feel like that you are the most important guest. The property is a little slice of heaven. Very peaceful! Views are extradordinary!

This Six Senses property is excellent. The room, the staff and the location are among the top resorts my wife and I have ever stayed. I would certainly return to the Douro River Valley and will stay once again at this superior property.

We had an exceptional and memorable 2 days in one of the most beautiful places we ever visited. The location is outstandingly charming; a postcard picture. The resort decor, reception, room, view from the room, restaurant, pool, gardens, vineyards all around.... we couldn’t get enough of the beauty of everything around us. The service was excellent & the food very tasty. We had a cooking lesson and lunch with Chef Tiego; truly enjoyable and fun! It was great to see how he prepared the food; we learned a few things and tricks as well.
All great things to say! I have been spreading the good word about Six Senses and the remarkable experience we had! I sure hope to come back to Douro and also to visit Six Senses in other countries...

The location is wonderful and the property is very nice. The design seems vaguely southern California and did not feel squarely placed in the locale. The food was fine. The prices of food and wine and services were offputting. We paid 78 euros for a wine that retails on the street for 10 euros - that's bad. The service of the wine was comical. A 20-something eastern European young man served our 2012 vintage wine. He pulled the cork out, looked at it gravely, and said "The cork is good." - I would hope so, its a four-year-old wine. He then poured himself a taste, which he did in a very ceremonious manner, and then pronounced that "The tannins were still intact." Again, I would hope so given this is a 2012 vintage. He was obviously taught some type of wine theatre to impress customers. Staff were nice overall.

Health and wellness. Cuisine and wine. They deliver.

This was such a beautiful property, truly breathtaking! The service was beyond expectation. Even for someone who is not a wine fanatic, we had an amazing time and will be returning next year. We had left behind some items in a rush on the way out and we immediately received an email from the front desk asking where the items could be shipped to. The restaurant upstairs, is also a must try along with the organic cafe near the pool. The veggies are grown right in their garden! Delicious!

Located in the heart of Douro Valley, guests will be indulged with unique local products, delicious cuisine, nice large rooms and wonderful views! Highly recommended!

This was an exceptional and beautiful place to spend our time in the Duoro Valley and we plan to return with family and friends in a few years. The beauty of the setting, the service of staff, the food, the rooms and everything imaginable was top notch and exceeded expectations. We were celebrating my husband's 65th birthday and we both agreed it was the best place we could have ever had our celebration, including the wonderful dinner prepared in your dining room that evening!

We really enjoyed the hotel, but there was absolutely no allergy awareness amongst the staff and I was repeatedly served foods that contained allergens I had explicitly detailed to staff. This is unacceptable.

This review is only about the restaurant, as we didn't stay in the hotel.
Unfortunately, this was the absolute worst meal we've had so far, considering the exuberant prices. And we've dined in family style and Michelin stars in the area. We came for lunch and opted for a main dish (since there wasn't a lunch menu or any kind of tasting menu). I had chicken breast and my husband fish. We were expecting something great (seeing that the place is called 6 senses, AND each dish was priced around 30 euro), but both were quite bland, and especially the fish dish really dry. We were hungry so ate most of it but weren't at all impressed by the place. The waitress was quite lovely as she saw our disappointment and offered us the 2 glasses of wine, hence I'll give 2 stars instead of 1 - as in my opinion this is all show and no substance. Sorry guys, but you could do much better!

One of the most beautiful hotel in the world. They bring the concept "simple luxury" to its maximum expression

This hotel is a truly excellent luxury hotel with every facility you could want. Rooms and common parts are just gorgeous mixing stunning modern design in a traditional Quinta-style building. The location is amazing on a hillside with wonderful views of a bend in the Douro River. The spa and leisure facilities are the best we have see. Staff are tremendously helpful and nothing is too much trouble. So why not five stars? This hotel has to lose a star for poor value for money, especially with regard to the restaurant. The food is good and the wine selection excellent but the prices (and portion sizes) are not right. Main courses are in the €25 - €41 bracket and we had better cooking and better menu options in plenty of other places. At one dinner my main course was twice the size of my wife's. Poor portion control or sexism? The breakfasts are wonderful but so they should be at €20 pp. The excitable pricing continues to the spa - a 90 min shiatsu massage was quoted at €150. (Who wants a 90 min massage anyway?) it feels churlish to criticise what is, by any standards, an excellent, even exceptional hotel, but if they sort out the above points it would be perfect.
