Room and hotel are very clean. Staff very friendly. They have an Indoor pool. Grill and bar restaurant. They provide free Continental breakfast with nice things to choose. It's 25 minutes from Virginia beach 10 minutes from the military Norfolk Naval Base.

Let me start with saying that if it wasn't for the excellent service received here, I would have given this a lower rating. We got in late, and our TV didn't work. I called the front desk (for $200 for the evening, I'd like a working TV) and they sent up maintenance, who was extremely nice and courteous despite the time. He tried everything he could and determined that the TV needed to be replaced and left to get one. After 30 minutes, I called the front desk to get an update and was told it was going to be at least another 30 minutes. Being 11:30 PM already, I told them we'd deal with no TV at that point. When I told the staff at checkout what had happened, they did make up for it and they were extremely kind the entire time. Staff is 5 stars, but I kinda wish I'd stayed somewhere cheaper and further away from campus for what I got. Room was a little rough around the edges (lots of scuffs on furniture), but I kinda expect that to some extent. Also no hair dryer in our room if that's something you're looking for (not an issue for my stay, but worth mentioning). Breakfast was good and I'm always a fan of a complentary hot breakfast. Overall, I will probably give it another chance. I'm assuming my stay was an abnormality based on other reviews. Again, I can't stress enough how excellent the staff is.

We had a great stay from beginning to end. We were able to check in alittle earlier and all the staff was great. We were greeted by the front desk with a smile and even the housekeepers were very friendly. Then when we went to breakfast, the staff engaged in friendly conversations and smiled the whole time. The rooms were very clean and smelled so good. I will definitely come back again. Thank you for making our stay great.

We have stayed here multiple times - last week stayed three nights. Everyone is always so nice and goes above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The restaurant is great - always hot fresh food and a polite and friendly staff!! I highly recommended this hotel!

5 stars for the staff and location, 3 stars for the rooms. It is right in the middle of ODU so that might something to do with the rooms being a bit beat up and rooms are dark. You’ll need all the lights on anytime your in the room. Everyone there is super friendly and it’s easy to get everywhere in Norfolk from this spot.

Everyone here was kind and went out of their way for our comfort. Great location. Room was great. Wonderful hospitality. From front desk folks (they had lots of lollipops!) to housekeeping to meal crew and maintenance people. They gave us great leads on places to eat, things to do, even suggestion on time to arrive at either Virginia Beach for a day of sun and sand or to get to Harbor Park to catch an MiBL baseball game featuring the AAA Norfolk Tides! Even got veggie snack in the lobby during one day of our stay. Family friendly hotel. Minor drawback is parking is in garage that is shared with Old Dominion University staff across small driveway from hotel front doors. At least during summer time, it was not an issue. Will strongly consider returning in the future!

Surprisingly Lovely Hotel for being so close to campus. Parking is in the ramp behind the building you will pay at least $8 for the privilege.

if you're lucky and you're there early you'll get a spot in the Gated area on the first floor if not you'll be on the fifth floor of the ramp.

Is extremely close to everything on campus and if you are a ODU alum or parent ask for a discount.

Springhill is in a great location, very close to the college and therefore restaurants and nightlife. It has a great free breakfast and a restaurant/bar in the hotel. I've stayed here many times and never had any complaints!

This hotel is lovely. It is modern and comfortable. The staff is helpful, and guests can park in the garage for a small fee. There are a lot of restaurants around because this is located on the ODU campus. It has a pool, whirlpool, fitness center, and small sports bar inside.

I must take a minute to sing the praises of everyone at the SpringHill Suites ODU! We had a large group coming into town from all over the East Coast, we wanted to find a nice hotel close to the Naval Base for a ceremony, and we wanted to host a party in the Monarch Recovery Sports Bar for all of our guests that evening after the ceremony. There wasn’t a single person we worked with who didn’t go above and beyond to make sure everything was just right for our weekend. It was truly a pleasure working with hotel staff, management and restaurant management and staff. The rooms were great, the hotel was clean, the breakfast was yummy and the staff was always polite. We felt like family the whole time we were there. We will definitely be back. And we will definitely enjoy the sports bar again!

This SpringHill Suites by Marriott is a family-friendly hotel in the Norfolk area locate just across the street from Old Dominion University and Ted Constant Convention Center; plus it’s not too far from the zoo. There are three reasons why booking a stay at this hotel is worth the money.

#1: The staff is amazingly friendly and very accommodating. Need more blankets? More towels? A late check-out? They will help you get what you need to make your stay a good one. They will smile and engage you in polite light conversation that does not seem contrived. I especially appreciated that they also chatted with my kids as we shared an elevator or while getting breakfast in the lobby.

#2: The food gets two forks up. The complimentary breakfast has hot and cold options available, i.e. waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, oatmeal, pastries, breads, fruit, cereal, juice, milk, tea, water, and coffee. There is a mega bowl of lollipop at the check-in counter and in the evenings there is a table of freshly baked cookies and mini-bottles of water. On site is the Monarch Recovery Sports Grill. The food there is pretty good and the price is on the higher end of reasonable, but still reasonable. I recommend the BBQ Nachos. It could be a meal on it’s own. Plus the staff are also really amiable. The bartender even fixed me her personal favorite drink when I was feeling a bit indecisive.

#3: The accommodations are very nice. The room where we stayed has two double beds, a pullout couch, and a desk. The kitchen area had a mini-fridge, sink, and microwave. The room was really clean. (I went through it quite thoroughly looking for dirt and dust. I even used a black light to look for stains.) There is a small exercise room with treadmills, ellipticals, and free weights. There is also a small pool with a hot tub. For the business traveller there are two small conference rooms.

Things to include in your consideration: The pool was a little heavy on the chlorine. So while there is absolutely no chance of catching something funky from the pool; there is a slight risk of skin irritation. Guest park for free in the parking deck adjacent to the hotel, but if you have someone visit you, he/she will have to pay to park. The parking deck is the only practical parking option although there are two parking spots at the hotel for persons with disabilities.The current rate as of this review is $8 per day.

Overall the stay at SpringHill Suites by Marriott was a positive experience. Springhill Suites has a very friendly staff, good food, and nice accommodations. When we are in Norfolk, this will be the hotel we stay at which we stay.

The TV in the room had strange settings that caused significant overscan and could not be adjusted. The breakfast was subpar. I would have liked a waffle maker. Otherwise the room and hotel were great.

Pros: Friendly Staff, Free breakfast, proximity to ODU. It is literally across the street and adjacent to the convocation center. Free WiFi.

Cons: Noise from the traffic from Hampton BLVD. Ask for a room on a higher level away from the busy street.

They should consider building a sound wall. Maybe it can display local art by ODU student's or some sort of mirral.

Monarch Sports grill has an amazing wing and beer deal on Mondays that you have to try.

Staff was friendly but gave us the wrong room, It was quickly corrected. The room was somewhere to sleep, nothing special and not the cleanest. Toilet was clogged upon arrival and we were given a plunger. I would stay here again if I were going to a concert bc of the close walking distance.

The location couldn't have been better. Just a short walk down the street to ODU where I was attending a conference. The room was amazing! It was spacious and clean. We had a living room area, microwave, mini fridge, desk, two closets... The bed was so comfortable. The moment I got in, all of my aches and pains melted away. Shower=heaven. The staff were courteous and helpful. I definitely plan on staying here again!

The the hotel is ideally located close to the ODU campus, shopping, restaurants, and a 15 minute drive to the Norfolk Waterside District. The room was spacious enough for a family of four. Our kids loved the complimentary breakfast, which had as good a variety as one could expect for free.

It was a really nice hotel. The lobby was quite large and had very spacious dining. The food wasn't too terrible but could've been a little better.

The beds were comfortable, and the room was very conveniently situated. I was the most impressed with the staff, though. I went downstairs with my niece and nephew for breakfast and the staff kept offering to help me with various things. They even helped me to get back upstairs with all the food.

Another great Marriott property. Just across the street from ODU, in the heart of the University community with many shops and restaurants to choose from. Friendly staff, clean rooms and facility. Good free parking steps from the hotel.

Stayed in the parlor. The suite is nice with a pull out couch. Nice clean room and full size refrigerator and microwave. It is clean and the breakfast was good. The only drawback was low WiFi signal in that room. However, wired access is available in it.

The front desk concierge help was out of this world. She was so polite and very resourceful. She was the one with the purple hair.

I was there for a business presentation, not overnight. The front desk agent was very helpful about the free parking. On my breaks I got coffee in their sports bar restaurant. The staff was very courteous and quick to get me served in time to make it back to the meeting. The location near Ghent, ODU and the base was convenient and a nice area.

They provide the basics: decent bed, free WiFi, and hot breakfast. In addition, the room is fairly spacious with a couch, small refrigerator, microwave, and sink. The hot breakfast isn't the best I've had, but it's fairly typical. Beds are pretty firm, which can be good or bad depending on your preference.

I stayed here a couple years ago and this hotel was very nice. Unfortunately I cannot say the same this time.

Not only was the pool area in need of some serious maintenance, the room was lacking as well.

There were brown spots and peeling wall in the whirlpool and regular pool which looked very unclean and gross. My mother said the whirlpool made her skin sting. While I did not have the same reaction, that statement alone made me get out the pool area.

The room's pillows smelled like they had been left in the washer too long and stunk. The iron in the closet was damaged and a screw came off. The tv was very poor quality and their movie purchases need an update. A movie rental for $17.99. Are you kidding me?

On the bright side, the staff was very kind and accommodating.

Food was very good. Wait staff was attentive and never let a cup stay empty. The workers were great and we enjoyed our meal.

We were visiting family and our extended family of 12 stayed at this hotel for the weekend. We checked in online and when we got to hotel check-in was seamless.
Parking is in a covered garage just across a narrow street from the hotel. The lobby is very pretty with plenty of seating. The suites are beautiful and very well maintained.
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly.
The breakfast was great with lots of healthy choices and delicious pound cake.
The kitchen staff was so friendly and welcoming.
We were very happy we stayed here and will certainly stay again.

The hotel is very well kept considering its age. The employees are VERY friendly. Breakfast was your typical fare. Bed was very comfortable (firm).

Fantastic breakfast attendent, Danielle is very accomodating and pleasant. Dispite my early arrival she did everything possible to make sure i had everything i needed even before the breakfast officially started. She works hard but always seems to make time for a smile and warm greeting regardless what time it is.

The rooms are very nice and clean, but the customer service leaves something to be desired. The day we arrived we had lighting issues that had to be fixed by maintenance. No big deal. However, later that night as we were falling asleep someone came into our room. It turns out that the front desk checked someone else into our room on accident. When we told them what happened, they offered a lackluster apology and not much else. I feel like having a stranger come into your room in the middle of the night warrants more attention.

Room was nice and clean. It was large and had a separate area with a couch and desk. My only real complaint would be the shape of the room leaving the TV in an odd location. I didn't watch much but the local stations didn't show up well. I enjoyed myself stay and I'll gladly stay there again.

I had a suite on the 5th floor. It had 2 double beds and a pull out couch and a microwave and fridge. I enjoyed my stay. It was very nice.

I work with arts organizations to book artists, and they were very prompt and attentive with an emergency hotel situation we were having. Able to get our artist in with little to no notice and early check in. Their sales staff is great!

This place is amazing! Never had a bad meal here and the bartenders are great at what they do.

Parking is directly across from the hotel in a garage. The room we are in is very clean the beds are comfortable. The location is great for anyone going to the Navy Base, or ODU. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. I forgot my razor and needed one to shave. The staff brought one up to my room within 15 minutes.

Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding!! Super attentive staff. Well-appointed rooms. Great value with breakfast bar. Adjacent restaurant is good in a pinch. I will stay here again without question. Highly recommended.

Stayed for a work trip and was surprised at the changes that they made to the lobby since my last visit. It was updated very nicely, and had great appeal. The room was spacious and had everything you could want; wet bar, cabinets, fridge. Had a hardwire network hookup which is important for me for my work computer. Only downside was the room wasn't as sound dampening as I would've hoped. The highway adjacent to the hotel could be heard very easily through the walls.
