Myself and my family had a wonderful experience at the Coomodore this evening the 14 of August. Holly was our lovely waitress. She is excellent . The surroundings are perfect with a nice anbience and decor. The menu has a lovely balance of choice. All our food was delicious and well presented. Great value and highly recommended.

If you get a room on the harbour side the views are great. Take your camera. And don't be even thirty seconds late for breakfast. Because the answer from the kitchen will be 'tuff'.

I am giving this four stars because it’s good value for money, not because it is a four-star hotel. The location is brilliant, the bed was comfortable, the price was right, and the restaurant was good. Absolutely nothing about This hotel is a four-star hotel, but I think it’s a good exchange overall. I really loved my View, and watching the people go by.

I spent 5 days in the Commodore in June 2018 and thoroughly enjoyed my stay, the staff were amazing even going out of there way to ring me and ask if everything was OK when i was running late into the evening which was very much appreciated (i think Jill was her name) the room was perfect for my stay (355) very close to the roof terrace with wonderful views of Cobh ..shower was good room was spotless some people say the hotel is tired i think it has its own character and could find no fault with what i was given..The breakfast every morning is fantastic with ample choices to satisfy all ..and a lovely welcome from all the staff...I would look stay in the Commodore hotel any time i visit Cork/Cobh in the future and would have no hesitation in recommending it to my friends and family....thank you for a restful and happy stay..

Hotel was dated but staff and food great. They have a nightclub downstairs so if u want to sleep early take a room on 4th floor haha. But besides that great stay in hotel 3 nights.

Very happy stay at the commodore. Jill arranged our daily trips above and beyond the norm arranging everything down to the minutest details.
Food and service both excellent. Restaurant staff when, even under pressure were calm and always wore a smile.

Hotel has gotten a bit rundown since my last stay. Room was ok but noisy.
Breakfast was very poor.
Location is the only plus for this hotel I'm afraid.

Nice place, good breakfast and perfect location in town. The rooms are a bit antiquated but there is a nice view of the harbor. Not every room is handicap accessible so make sure you make your request when booking to avoid problems.

Very nice hotel near the water. Interior decor takes you back to what it must have been like more than a century ago when it was new. Excellent service and good food. A short walk away from the Titanic Exhibit.

We stopped at Cobh after a day trip to Fota wildlife park and we were looking for a place to get some dinner. After a short walk at the port and a search online we couldn't find much so we decided to have dinner at the Commodore hotel. I think it was the best decision we made for all the choices we believed we had. The food was amazing, we had the catch of the day which was fresh salmon. Staff was very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was really nice. We also had a great pint of Guinness! I can't say much about the rooms or the hotel.in general as we didn't spend the night there but I would definitely recommend the hotel restaurant!

Really great hotel next to the waterfront, a few good resturants, and some activities (such as a Titanic museum). Helpful receptionists, great breakfast, and rooms that allow smoking. Definitely a hotel worthy of such a high rating. 5/5

Fantastic atmosphere. Old world charm type hotel, with all the modern conveniences. Great staff who would go out of their way to help you. Excellent food. Great views of the Harbour and if you are a photographer, then you must make use of the Roof Beer Garden. Five Stars for a fantastic welcoming experience. 2 minute walk to train station, trains run every hour to Cork City and you can link up to Dublin trains from Cork again running every hour. Commodore Hotel has everything you need for a stay. Cobh also has a Cruise Liner Terminal the biggest and greatest and historic liners and cruise ships berth or have berthed here just a few yards from the Commodore Hotel. Its a must visit.

I'm only rating the restaurant as we did not stay here. Went for dinner with the family. The restaurant hss high chairs available which helps with the little ones. Great food and drink menu. A good selection of local Irish beer and really fresh sea food. Great service and really enjoyed the place. Good price too. Worth it to eat and drink here.

When we arrived our greeting wasn't exactly hospitable and we were send up to our room which actually wasn't ready and we were sent back, the second room smelt so badly of smoke and was dark and looked out onto a horrible roof . We asked to change rooms and had to pay 16euro more. This room was so much better with a sea view. Beds were really comfy and bathroom clean. The tv though! It was so tiny it couldn't be seen when lying in bed!&We went for bar food and it was surprisingly good even though we got Guinness instead of Heineken and lemon cheesecake instead of Bailey's cheesecake.!!!the staff were really lovely. Breakfast was nothing special, with a little bit more effort it could be so much better! we also had no hot water for showers in the morning and when we called reception we were told the plumber was coming soon!! We had a funny time at the Commodore and would visit again but somebody needs to inject some love into this historical hotel!

Our room had a double bed and three singles, plenty of space, clean and a beautiful view overlooking the bay.
We had no time for dinner but had a very good buffet breakfast on the next day.
The staff were efficient and friendly, will certainly come back again.

8

A great hotel for the price retaining its Victorian charm, centrally located in Cobh and full of characters.

When I stayed here there was a retirement party going on in the downstairs bar with a lot of singing and atmosphere in the afternoon.

Rooms were good, large and clean; nothing like a modern hotel but that's what makes staying at places like the Commodore all the more interesting - individuality and character.

Lovely old hotel but the years have taken their toll on the fabric of the building. I last stayed in The Commodore in 1992. Apart from new bathrooms not a lot has changed. Treat it as a step back in time and you will love it.

Walking through the corridors of this once majestic hotel conjured visions of Victorian ladies taking afternoon tea and sea Captains with bushy sideburns sipping black rum as they prepared to set sail to exotic destinations within the mighty British Empire. Bell boys would be running up and down the regal staircase with the valises of weary travellers. I could envisage waitresses dressed in the black and white frilly uniform of the day, curtsying to the landed gentry as they gargled Mr Hennesseys finest and barked at their servants to check the horse and carriage outside the main entrance overlooling the harbour view. Filthy rich Americans would be reminiscing about how their ancestors left this battered island without a penny to their magnificent Irish names. What wonderful times.

Well maybe! I'm not sure they were so great for the bell boys servants and waitresses - but staying at this hotel does make you think of what was.

Many years have passed through Cobh since then and have been swept out to sea. These years have also taken a little of the splendour of this hotel with them. The expression faded glory comes to mind but that would be a disservice to the diligent and helpful staff working here - friendly and welcoming. But you know - a little splendour still remains and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.

The room was excellent clean and very comfy - I adored the bowed floor - but you know just think of how many people walked over that floor and indeed who - European royalty maybe - I'm not fussy. I took a walk onto the roof garden and was taken with the enormous chimney stack with at least seventeen pots. Think of all those buckets of coal being carried to those rooms! Great views as well - particularly on a clear blue sky day.

The Commodore is pretty much a museum piece - but in a good way. A lot of the cornicing and original plaster work is still intact - the telephone booth doors date from beyond the Victorian era but are in working order. These are all great conversation pieces whilst relaxing in the well stocked bar with expensive blends of whiskey - which apparently only filthy rich Americans buy - crikey they're still here!!

The breakfast was delicious - with a great choice. Unfortunately the coach party that was staying there all decided to come down for breakfast at the same time. It was all hands on deck including the duty manager who began to have tiny beads of sweat trickle down his neck whilst clearing tables as another group of elderly folk made their way through the throng.

Off street parking is cool and free ( a returnable deposit is required ) further down the street - remember this hotel was not built with the car in mind. On street parking has to be paid for during the day - but the first hour is free. There is also a disabled space outside the entrance of the hotel.

Try this hotel as I get the feeling that it may not be here in a few years. It is beginning to creak and crumble but thats part of its charm. I can see some young whipper snapper developer claiming that it will cost a fortune to restore and will have to be replaced with one of those dreadful boring so called trendy structures that are on display nowadays in every town in Ireland. May I suggest that you grab a piece of this old world charm and well worn elegance while you still can.
