Strategically located with a great view of Melaka town from balconies of higher floors. Walking distances to nearby major shopping malls. Also a popular place for wedding and company functions. Close to several tourist attractions. Appropriate decorated to each major festivals and seasonal greetings.

Stayed here couple of times. A bit old but doable. Good location too!

Came here for the cooking class, not as a guest of the hotel. I loved this class, it was definitely the best one I have done! The explanations about the food and history were great. The food we made was delicious and we got to enjoy this with multiple other dishes at the end of the class. We even got dessert to take away as we were too full to have it there. I can't wait to go and try these recipes at home!

Nice hotel with good service. Location is convenience nearby to Pahlawan and Hatten mall. Kid will like the swimming pool and bathtubs. I like the free movie channel, there are a lot of choice. The breakfast is great, many choices. Will come back again. Recommended.

Strategic location with a feel of exclusivity compared to others nearby. Large reception hall with many staff attendance, a concierge at THE open space lounge. Has a chic cafe near entrance. Lifts are modern, spaces and very little waiting time. Security is good. The whole place just looks grand for its town, location and competition.

Hotel equatorial remains largely the same over the past 10 years if the only major difference being the addition of a new dining area at level 21. Everything is generally average (WiFi, bed, food etc) and signs of its old age can be seen (Walls inside and outside the hotel in need of a repainting, dirty carpets, worn-out furniture). While it is still affordable, there are better and newer places to look and stay at until Hotel Equatorial receives a much needed renovation.

Love the place. Center of the city. Rooms are really comfortable. Breakfast is good. Pool is good.

Although the facility a bit old, but maintenance very well. Condition still good. The great part is the service by their staff. You fell comfortable when staying here. Although many new hotel around this area now. But this hotel is worth the price. It is still a great choice to stay here.

Loved this hotel. It’s my go to hotel whenever I’m in Melaka. It’s so close to everything. The mall is directly in front of the hotel. Sadly the rooms is a little dated although the service makes up for it. Safe to say I always come back for the service.

Quite frequently stay at this hotel because of the great location and good service but it seems to be heading downhill judging by my visit there over the weekend. 1. Hotel seemed to be severely understaffed and there seemed to be only one guy doing the housekeeping throughout my two days stay there. 2. On the first day, housekeeping forgot to wash the two cups I used to make coffee so gave them a kind reminder but alas it remained like that even after another round of cleaning 24 hours later. 3. Paid additional for my kids to enjoy the breakfast buffet but there were barely any food left there by 9 am. 4. Getting a towel at the pool was another challenge. Ended up walking back to them room wet. I hope they buck up soon cos it's a perfectly located hotel. It could be they were understaffed due to to the holidays, I do hope so .

Overall good. Foods at Rest House Cafe are satisfactory. One thing I like is the K5 bistro cafe (open air).

Old, but still Gold. Pretty well maintained for her age, the rooms and fittings were funtional but not worn. The only remarks I have is that the function hall smelled of food most of the time, I guess the ventilation isn't quite up to speed. To make the trip memorable, on the, last day, we we're awoken by water dripping from the ceiling of the bathroom. A pipe burst on the floor above and there was a temporary waterfall feature. The pool is about 25m across, better than nothing for my daily laps.

After so many years, the hotel rooms, facility , gym room, lobby etc are still well maintained! Really impressive despite the shower h as in the shower room needs to replace. The toilet may need some refresh similarly to the bed. Overall is still clean and nice.. keep it up! Very assessable to amenities and restaurants. Walking distance to many food place and the shopping mall too! Great to stay here !

One of the older hotels in Malacca, Equatorial is at a strategic location. Close to historical sites and town area. But on weekends the traffic is bad. With the emergence of new boutique hotels, tourists are preferring other places to stay. This hotel needs to create something new to make it attractive again. The rooms are rather old. And the rates are not competitive.

For this particular trip, I had to book the Executive Suite as all our usual Equator Club Rooms were fully booked.

We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to the Governor Suite. It was too big for the two of us, though.

Though this Suite was impressive (20 years ago?), the decor is now outdated and some of the furniture were really old and shabby. Most items/things don’t work or are falling apart. The jacuzzi/tub in the bathroom had its faucet head dropped off/broke when we tried to fill up the tub! Not enough charging or power points. Not even one next to the vanity table for the hairdryer!

But the staff on the 21st floor (Executive/Club Lounge) are a fantastic lot! Courteous and professional! Especially Amin, thank you!

Location was good convinent to malls. Have stayed at this hotel for many years. Although the hotel is in need of a refresh, still like going there as staff are really friendly and helpful.

Located at a convenient location, most amenities and sites are within a walking distance. Service staff are professional and polite. Rooms are just right, plumbing could be improved.

Near shopping mall and restaurant. 10 minutes walk to Jonker. Great atmosphere, curteous staffs, good variety of food served during breakfast. Hotel maybe older than neighbouring hotels, but interior is well maintained.

The Equator Club room which I stayed was rundown. Hot water for bathtub was only warm even when left on to run for sometime. Called the maintenance and they asked to leave the water flowing for a while to get hot water to flow. They left the tap fully opened and water flowed for an hour before I called reception to check their return.

The hotel is located nearby Dataran Mall which is just across away. The hotel is quite old actually but the rooms are well maintain. The pool is very big which is awesome if u have kids like me. Overall i would give a 5 star rating and for the price it is well worth it

Is a cosy lovely place with all the family's friendly services. If you are driving an electric car there are two charging bay. Room are clean with all the best in a hotel room. Staff's are very friendly. Walk out is the old section of the city and near the sea.

Great view across the city of Melaka, as it is one of the higher built hotels in Melaka. The hotel food is good, with a variety of local cuisine spread across breakfast, lunch dinner.

However, the room's window is a little dirty on the outside. Besides that, it's all Good! Great Hotel

Corner club room was just perfect with two balconies and ok for 3 people. Bathroom rather old and slippery especially in bath area. Great housekeeping and excellent afternoon tea in their club lounge area. Breakfast gets too boring after a while. Friendly staff all over except for some foreign staff (trainees, I guess). Parking is convenient during weekdays but a real challenge over the weekends. This hotel is pretty close to almost everything in town, malls and eateries. Swimming pool and spa are a plus for them except the gym where some machines were out of order when we were there, overall, a plus plus for them

Service staff was friendly, food tasting was decent. Variety of dishes for breakfast could be improved. Room service was reasonably fast. However certain food quality tasted below average.

I really really really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. There was a bath tube and the air con was cold. The breakfast was also very nice with a huge variety. The gym is also very huge with a lot of equipments. The location is also very good. Shopping malls and tourist attractions that could be reach by foot. There is also a thai massage(must pay by your own but it is worth it ) .

We are invited to dinner of lighting ceremony..what a pleasant surprise. The room is very large, bright, super clean and has its own balcony. We will come again to next visit to malacca.

It's located in the town area, lots of malls around it but the place is very jammed. So expect lots of jam when trying to get there. Best is to travel by foot around the area. The hotel itself is very nice. Very clean and the staff are helpful. They provided us with drinks when checking in to the hotel. The rooms are clean and nice. They will clean the room if you want every morning and replace your towels for you. Breakfast provided at the hotel is nice and there are lots of varieties. Breakfast came with the room so Im not sure how much it costs.

Its premium room has an interesting viewing area, big enough for an adult sleeping. Friendly and courteous staffs, nice ambious and clean, convenience location to many places of interest within walking distance.

It's okay, not bad just lacks a few things that a family would appreciate, lift access from the underground parking lot.

Quiet and central hotel. We had a very big room on the 18th floor with a beautiful look of the city. During the week it was pretty dead. Service at check was very good but the room wasn't cleaned on one day. The pool is huge and the gym has plenty of machines as well. The bar has good options and the hotel restaurant is cheap when looking for a quick snack.

Location-wise one of the best in Melaka. The rooms and hallways is in serious need of refurbishment, though. It looks tired,on some floors there's a very strong smell of mildew. Having said that,this is my go-to choice for Melaka hotel,for the rates I get for frequently booking online directly with them.

A nice hotel in downtown Malacca. The rooms are dated, and need a refurbishment. I stayed here last in 2014, so they may have been upgraded since.

I liked the friendly and accommodating staff and the large room. Access to interesting places to visit and government offices was easy from here, although the road in front of the hotel can get quite busy and jammed.

A very good hotel situated at prime location. I have not stayed in the hotel, but had dinner on three four occasions. There is a big hall with a stage to conduct shows & seminars.

I have visited all the 4 stars & above hotel in Melaka. Although Equatorial is consider one of the oldest but their maintenance is commendable. Big rooms and most of all the friendliness & services is good. Holiday Inn is the next matchable to it but location of EQ best all.

Certainly has seen better times but it's well situated, and for the price we paid it was a very nice stay. Staff is great except for one Japanese concierge who was quite rude to my girlfriend when she was asking about the possibility of a late check-out.

Fantastic place. Location wise it's a short walk to the big shopping malls, and a 20 minute walk to Jonker street. Forget about the long walks to find an authentic Nyonya restaurant. There's a fantastic one in the hotel itself! Affordable food and comfortable with great service! The TV has preset movies to watch! Can stay entertained even when staying inside the room. Has a nicely equipped gym and a pool too! Breakfast has a fantastic variety as well. will definitely stay again

Very nice. Specially the live singing in the bar. The view from the balcony is amazing as well. The rooms are cozy and comfortable. However, the card for door locks need some efforts to open.

Facilities are great which ranges from restaurants and gift shops to swimming pool, jacuzzi and gym. The service is also excellent with the staff smiling at us whenever they see us and the lifeguard at the swimming pool knows how to communicate in english well and is always willing to give us directions to places which is not even related to swimming pool.
The hotal is also near the biggest shopping malls and attractions. Melacca two biggest shopping malss are just beside it and I spent 3 days to finish shopping. The hotel is also a stone's throw away from the sea and the hotel rooms also have a small indoor balcony which gives you the view of the open sea. The restaurants inside the hotel are also affordable and great, especially the peranakan restaurant which often offers 20% discount and the food is definitely authentic and the service is excellent too. Korean restaurant is also another excellent hotal restaurant that Ive tasted which offers discount for hotel stayers. Most importantly, there is an international breakfast buffet which is free for all hotel stayers. The food are delicious and the atmosphere is also great. Food ranges from pancakes to the famous chicken rice balls. Futhermore, the hotel separates those snokers and non-smokers which is great for non-smokers like me to have fresh air.
However, the only bad point is that the road outside the hotal which leads to the shopping malls and attractions do not have a proper traffic lights so you will have to dash and jaywalk across. Other than these, this hotel is definitely worth staying over which the cheap price, excellent service and excellent facilities.

Equatorial has excellent facilities complete with gymn, sauna, swimming pool and even an indoor jacuzzi. If you want to just spend a whole day in a nice relaxing hotel, this is the place to be.

They have the best Japanese restaurant in Melaka. Their buffet at the Kampachi is not to be missed (only on weekends) It's wise to go early as it can be quite packed especially on long weekends.
