Located next to star city so lots of food options and activities available. Staff was friendly. Room was spacious. Overall decent place for a stay.

Stayed only for one night. Even though I checked in very late, the welcome I received from Sophia and Jabrielle made my whole day after a stressful journey! Great customer service, very helpful, and friendly while maintaining high standard of professionalism. Thanks again to both of you guys!!

In the morning, I met Mo who is also very helpful and polite. It's a pity that the breakfast buffet let me down in terms of options, could have more variety.

Brilliant place, staff fantastic, reception open all the time and we got booked in in the middle of the night after our first hotel was a disaster. Breakfast is great, rooms lovely. So pleased to have found it.

Other than breakfast this hotel does not provide any facility for meals at the weekends. Only pizza & chips other days I was told. 5 minute walk to Star City shopping centre; limited variety of food outlets there as many of the units there have ceased trading.
Hotel management needs to learn about strategic planning. In my opinion, running short of basic bar supplies on the Saturday of a bank holiday weekend denotes incompetence. Using the excuse that supplies are sourced centrally because the hotel is one of a chain is nonsense!

Excellent stay. I expected budget accommodation and service because I paid a budget price but this clearly wasn't the case. Very welcoming staff and the room was very nice and spacious, on a par with some more expensive hotels I have stayed in. Very nice bathroom and the whole room was immaculate. Even the tops of shelves and mirrors had no dust (I had to check just because I was amazed at the value for money) :-)
I will definitely stay here again and will recommend.

Very handy for nearby Star City and excellent links to the motorway network. If you are exploring Birmingham then you might be better choosing a hotel that's a bit nearer the city centre, though it's only a 10 minute taxi ride or 30 minute bus journey, so not too bad, and is generally slightly cheaper than similar hotels in central Birmingham. The hotel itself is perfectly adequate, decent sized modern rooms, helpful staff - generally just as you'd expect from a Holiday Inn Express. Nothing more, nothing less.

The staff at this Holiday Inn Express are so polite and friendly, nothing is ever a bother for them... always happy to help you. The rooms are ultimately high standard in terms of cleanliness and facilities (big flat screen TV, free WiFi). The beds are really comfortable and come with hard and soft pillows. The only thing I would add is there is no food service on a weekend so you may have to nip out to Star City to get fed, but this is literally a 5 mins walk, here you will find McDonald's, Pizza Hut and other restaurants. All in all a very pleasant stay.

Me and my partner stayed here on Valentine's day. We were greeted by the loveliest lady named Shelly. As it was a last minute trip, she guided us to the nearest steakhouse, bar and even stayed behind on her shift to help us. She made our stay!! An absolute treasure to the hotel and I'll be staying there again purely based on her friendliness and good heart. An overall fantastic night. Thank you Shelly.

Nice clean hotel I was there on a first aid course so we had use of one of the function rooms. The parking was free via registration at the check in desk. The restaurant area was kept nicely and tea and coffee were free to attendees of the course we were on. Would use again. Staff very friendly.

Staff were friendly on arrival, but a basic plate of bland digestive biscuits gives you an idea of what to expect from your stay.

The rooms were a little dated, in room 203 it faces onto the dual carriageway and can be noisy (windows not good). I wanted to drown out the noise by having the air con turned on but it was broken (reported and told it would be fixed). Returned that evening and it was still broken (was informed next morning that it's a known issue). No idea why they did not offer room swap in first instance, rather than promise to fix something they knew was broken and couldn't be remedied.

Breakfast was basic. Sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs and beans. Little other choice if you want cold breakfasts.

For a cheap stay I could allow the pitfalls but the room was more expensive than other (better) providers.

Friendly and efficient staff, and a comfortable bed for the night - a little noisy but next to a dual carriageway can only be expected. Lost a star for the less than impressive breakfast - calling those sausages "Cumberland" is an affront to someone I'm sure. ;-)

Stayed for a business trip. Lovely and quiet. Room was nice and tidy, and breakfast was tasty.

Freindly and efficient staff, really nice buffet breakfast. We were able to take the dog, so the room was as one would expect, nicely equipped but a bit doggy!

Poor food. Burger day but thank God for the salad in the burger. Chips seemed to have been 're cooked. Breakfast... greasy oil tasting bacon. Horrible tasting sausage. Left everything.. room was ok but eat elsewhere

The entrance is nice and clean and friendly staff welcome you a soon as you walk in. The afternoon food could be improved as small things like no brioche buns being used even though it’s advertised.
Breakfast is what you expect as well it is free. My room is great to be honest good carpet bed and pillows a few scuffs on the walls but for the price I’m not gonna say it was a horrible place I really liked my room.

Hotel was ok..quite a comfortable stay. Staff were polite & accommodating enough. However, breakfast was somewhat of a let down.

For the price, everything was wholly acceptable. Staff were attentive without being intrusive, breakfast was fine with ample choice and everywhere was clean. Only grumble is that the mattress was oversize for the base which gave feeling of instability. Would happily go again.

The first turkish food we ate. It was amazing ! Service was good, people was nice and the food is number 1! I just can recommend to anybody !

Staff were welcoming. Room was satisfactory, had a good night sleep. Breakfast was fine. No complaints other than it was a bit fiddly getting in to the room with key. We would stay again.

Me and my partner stay here whenever there's a late football match on. The rooms are decent for the price. Spacious, and beds are comfy with clean sheets. You get what you need for one night or a weekend stay. Breakfast included in the price which is a bonus and food is okay.

In need of refurbishment. Dirty walls and carpets. Air conditioning suddenly starts moving some part makes noise and automatically shuts down. Some old smell in room, needs air freshners. I've just checked in and absolutely unhappy... will go and speak to the reception to see if they've anything better. I don't recommend this place. 😕

Nice place to stay , although a bit out of way depending on what you want , rooms are clean and tidy, staff seem friendly, breakfast is included here and is good too, plenty of parking also

Room was spacious enough but bed tired, sunken and creaky. Shower was great. Food is limited, 3 mains 2 sweets and breakfast not that great, sausages rubbery and powdered scrambled eggs by the taste

Decent enough rooms at a decent price

Stayed in a room overnight. The room was OK, shower didn't really work, it had no pressure, was leaking and the shower holder couldn't hold the shower head up. Also the hair dryer didn't work. Beds were comfortable to sleep in though. Breakfast was included, told it was served until 11, but I went down at 9, and it had pretty much ran out by 9:20. Breakfast was nice though, despite being petty basic.

Was ok. Outdated and had a strange smell of too much bleach. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lunch provided for meeting was below average sandwiches.

Wifi was terrible. Check in was slow because they didn't ŕealise i was an elite ihg member. Room was not very clean either.

The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from Star City and about 15 - 20 minutes from the city centre. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and clean. Breakfast was included and was good for the money we paid. Parking was also included.

I actually wanted to put 3.5 stars and I'll explain why.

I came in after a long and stressful trip from london (traffic)

The key didn't open my bedroom door, annoying but it does happen.

I went back to the desk, the lady was very helpful and lovely (27th December 5pm)

Had the key swiped and went back to my room, didn't work again 😏.

Anyway, eventually managed to changed rooms and was overall pretty happy (for the price it was a steal!)

Had a good rest and enjoyed the the large TV.

Breakfast was poor, the bacon was offensively fatty and burnt, bread was as cheap as it gets, and milk tasted as if it had a 5 year shelf life (fake)

But if you're looking for a good sleep and you're on a budget, I would recommend, putting aside my gripes, I enjoyed the stay.

I'll be back.

Good location for Birmingham city centre and star city. Room was very comfortable and good welcoming staff. Good service and good breakfast

Clean and nicely decorated room for the price. The dining area is average and the evening meal menu nothing to write home about but Ok considering the price of the stay.

The room was relatively large and comfortable but you couldn't leave the window open at night owing to the traffic noise. On first arrival I reported the badly cracked sink to reception. It was obviously and old crack but the receptionist didn't seem at all concerned about this. "Is it leaking?" was all she asked.

Really good decent sized rooms. Very nice shower. Only downside is breakfast. Decent hot selection available but no fried eggs etc like other hotels offer. Price is cheap and includes breakfast and free parking and free WiFi everywhere.

Clean nice food comfortable beds. Go there quite regularly.

Receptionist was nice and pleasant. Expeeience wasn't brilliant after that unfortunately. The bathroom stank of bad drains whenever the tap was run. The decor was bad. Ripped wallpaper, and crumbling grouting. The TV remote didn't work. Room only had 2 teabags and 2 sugars. Went to have a shower and the water just trickled out. There want even enough pressure to force it through all the holes, so I ended up washing under the trickle of water through half a shower head. Even worse was the food. I ordered fish and chips. Undercooked soggy chips (microwave job at best) and soggy bland fish. The peas didn't even taste like peas, and had a slight metallic taste to them. Breakfast wasn't any better either. I've stayed in almost all the Holiday Inn Expresses in the UK, and know what to expect breakfast wise. The sausages were overdone and hard, the scrambled egg was solid, like rubber. And the beans had a thick skin on them like they'd been lying there for hours. I was served a pint by a girl who looked like she'd rather be anywhere else than there. I've given it 3 out of 5. It only gets 3 because I usually really like the chain, and for the reception. Also, I would have complained, but I had a similar complaint (smelly drains) at the the London Dartford one, and it got me nowhere except for an email weeks later (cut and paste job) from an employee apologising and saying they strive to keep standards high and customers happy. Doesn't look like that message is getting through to the people on the ground. Disappointed. Would not stay again.

Overall a good stay.... could be nicer

Spacious rooms, toilet and a baby crib was big enough for my lad. The staffs are lovely, clean room and secure parking. Will definitely be visiting again.

Nice room very clean, breakfast included to the price. Staff were very nice and helpful.

Breakfast was good, but small TV was of poor quality and a lack of channels. Though the internet was very good. Shower was excellent, but I am a bath person and there was no bath. Also heating was very good and had air-conditioning but there was a smell in the room so we had to keep the windows open. You also have to give your key card to the reception to set after u go anywhere which was quite irritating. Another good point is that it is open 24 hours a day. Also put the do not disturb sign on door if you do not want to be disturbed by the cleaning lady, which she recommended! Lastly we had a very bad view of the car park below, nice to have a room with a view....but this will depend on what side of this building you are in.

Room was a good price, it was clean, large and had everything we needed. The free breakfast in the morning was good quality and nice. You know what you get with Holiday Inn's, and this is no exception, very good.
