We had a wonderful stay here last month. We used a deal which got us a night stay for 2, spa treatment, dinner and breakfast all for a very reasonable price! The spa is lovely and offers all kinds of treatments but if you just want to use the facilities then there are two steam rooms alongside pool and gym. The location is perfect and leaves you in walking distance of everything. The only downfall is that it could use a little love with the interior decorating (carpet especially), but considering the golden feel throughout I can hardly complain! If you go then make sure you try the restaurant! Beautifully cooked food.

We enjoyed one night stay and overall it was fine. The bedroom bed was massive and very comfortable for a king size room. The window did not shut properly and a little draft, but with heating on, did not bother us.

Would say hotel is a shade tired and £7 to park the car a day is expensive.

The food was biggest disappointment. £26 for steak and £3 or £4 for small pot of sauce was way over priced. Had so much better at lower prices.

Biggest disappointment was cold to Luke warm breakfast. Poor bacon, etc.. Coffee and Tea from a flask. Toaster needs to be turned up, 3 times around and about done, good chat with other residents whilst waiting.

Clean hotel, it's ok, but want return.

Reasonable rooms for the price. Very quiet, good facilities. Our evening meal was excellent but the breakfast wasn't the best, food quality being the main concern. Service was a bit slow in the bar, with the bartender disappearing for long periods of time so we couldn't order more drinks.

Absolutely amazing hotel. Right in the centre of Stratford 5 min walk from the town centre. Comfortable rooms everything you need and great services available. Has leisure access included in stay which is great if you don't want to miss a workout.

Booked a spa break here mainly for the treatment included in the package but spa were unable to accommodate despite calling well in advance. Would be good if Macdonald could upsate their website to warn of no/limited treatment slots at time of booking. Was refunded for the treatments but not until check out. Had to pay an additional £7 to park for a two night stay. Issues on checking in - booking had been duplicated causing confusion. Room was quite dirty and decor/furnishings were tired and damaged. Some staff were nice and helpful but others were quite blunt. Food at breakfast and dinner was not the warmest although tasted good. The scones at afternoon tea were really nice! Great location and beautiful area of the country.

Stayed one night and it was great. Impressive old manor house. Our room was in the more modern annexe which was fine as it was purpose built. Massive bed. Everything worked. Breakfast was good for a busy buffet style offer. Staff were attentive. Free swim and steam room! For the price, it was better than most. Excellent location, being 5 minutes walk from the town centre. Can't comment on the restaurant as we ate out. Would definitely visit again.

Lovely, attentive staff for a beautiful boutique hotel. The food is fantastic - the chef really knows what he is doing! A perfect spot for a weekend get away and some sight seeing and also perfect for a business stop as it is within easy reach of the centre of town and all the other hotels.

Great hotel with swimming pool which my daughter loved. Had to wait to get checked in even though we arrived after check in time and when was waiting in reception seemed that we was ignored, it was only when my wife asked when room would be ready they said it was even though we was opposite them and they said nothing. Great hotel, great breakfast, large rooms just reception staff to be more welcoming or maybe we just arrived at a bad time.

Cute inn. Has an older section where it's a bit more narrow/tight, but also a newer section with standard rooms. The pool and sauna are very nice though and the location is ideal.

My best friend gave us as a wedding gift Spa break in this hotel. I don't usually go for traditional old fashion hotels, prefer new builds with simple modern furniture, but to my surprise, hotel was very nice, I like it's traditional futures and style. Spa was all what I needed for nice relaxing massage and manicure done by friendly manicurist. Only downside was breakfast. I was waiting for my tea and toast and in the end left without them. I can forgive them as it was busy Sunday morning. We liked the town and want to return...maybe we will return also to the hotel ...

Booked for a wedding. Excellent customer service and catering. A converted Manor House, so an interesting mix of older and newer styles. On site spa and swimming pool is good and relatively competitive with a wide range of services and treatments. Extensive parking available, and a short walk away from the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon across either the road or foot bridge.

I wasn't staying here this time just visiting my family who were. At 11am the till still wasn't setup yet so only allowing room charge orders. I asked if I could leave the exact cash amount and then the team member runs it through the till later but she didn't know how much a flat white should be. I left £3.75 and told her this should cover it.
Always seems to be an issue here with food and beverage. Come on guys set all the tills up first thing or have an alternative to take me to. Was going to order lunch too for the 8 of us but didn't bother due to this.

7

Fantastic hotel in a great spot. Very scenic and easy to get into town (5 mins walk).
Could do with a member of staff permanently on the bar as there were times when people had waited 15 minutes at the bar and they were the only one waiting due to the member of staff having to leave the bar unattended to look after another responsibility.
Apart from that small gripe though the hotel is top notch and the conferencing facilities are excellent.

8

Beautiful location, stunning building and excellent location for easy access to the town. The RSC is not only a short walk away but a pleasant one.
The staff at the hotel are brilliantly helpful, friendly and approachable.
Facilities are amazing and if you are doing a bed and breakfast stay then for just £5 you can have your breakfast preordered and delivered to your room.
Beds are delightfully comfy, shower was easy to use and clean and powerful.
A truly exceptional venue.

Had a very pleasant stay here for two nights. Staff were all friendly. Breakfasts were good and dinner good too. Had an early pre theatre dinner there and then went back for our dessert afterwards. Rooms were basic but ok (clean enough for me). Had basic complimentary tea/coffee stuff. Swam in the pool which was nice.

Lovely Elizabethan Building in an excellent location. Staff needs more training. Reception staff were either excellent or rude. Breakfast waiting staff were very forgetful. We had to ask for coffee three times before it finally arrived. No fridge in our room so we asked for ice but it never arrived. Our suite was lovely but we were rudely awoken by loud crashes and voices from the kitchens beneath our room at around 7am when the breakfast service kicked off. Could have been perfect. Should have been excellent. It was just ok...

8

Lovely building, the treatments were amazing. The gardens would be lovely in the summer and is a stones throw from the town.
Downside was the pool heating was broken, members said it had been like it for a while. A but annoying is you are on a day spa.
Didn't like walking through the hotel to get to afternoon tea in our robes, it feels quite odd paying by large business meetings and other fully dressed guests wearing a dressing gown. Having said that, the food was amazing and as a non gluten eater I was really impressed with the offer, amazing cakes!

Some of the best staff I've experienced at a hotel. Ideal location within walking distance to the town centre. Lovely grounds. Only downside was the interior and room was quite dated, but it didn't take away from the stay.

Went for a Spa day with my partner. Changing room lockers can be confusing. The floors didn't seem massively hygienic and was grateful of having slippers to wear. The staff were very friendly and attentive and couldn't do more to help!

The facilities could be updated to include a Hot Tub/Jacuzzi.

Would visit again as the treatments were very good!

Afternoon tea was also of a good standard.

Would visit again.

We attended for a wedding and although the start was a little chaotic with a limited amount of parking the wedding was great and the room we stayed in was really nice. The food the wedding and the breakfast was good. The breakfast was buffet style but extras could be ordered.

Afternoon tea= wonderful.
Service = amazing.

The gentleman who served us our afternoon tea was just lovely! There was absolutely no snobbery, first class service, and he put us at complete ease and treated us so well. Thank you!

5

We have stayed here for multiple Christmas times, but this was the first time I've had a disappointment during my stay. We've had mix-ups with prepayment, bar bills, and while the team try their best to keep on top of everything, it's clear that processes and service has slipped. Our hotel room is constantly filled with the music from reception, and while our room is beautiful on the face of it, with wonderful wooden beams and antique styling, it isn't very practical. The bed is smaller than I'm acoustomed to in a hotel suite, and with only the bedside lights usable by lights witch, it's a fairly dindgy atmosphere. The bathroom is basic and usable, but the lock is broken. Ive given three stars because the staff have been nothing but helpful where they can, but it's clear that this hotel is beginning to degrade and needs a new injection of money.

I stayed for one night following a Christmas party which my employers had organised. The hotel is in a good location for the town with clean and decent sized rooms. Rooms can be in the modern wings which detract a little from the nicer older part of the building. Staff are pleasant and friendly. Breakfast is buffet style with the usual choices which was nice enough but nothing special. The only issue I had was the cost of a Gin & Tonic ...£13.40!! This is as expensive any of the luxury grand hotel bars in London.....and those come with table service and high end nibbles! So overall nice enough if you avoid the bar but wouldn’t stay again.

we used the conference facilities during the day which worked well and the hotel for the evening. The room were of a decent size and the bed was very comfy. Some squeaky boards all along the corridor could do with some attention but the hotel was well kept and with diligent staff

Attended a conference in this hotel and it looked very nice. There was a spa attached to the hotel but I didn't get to give that a go The hotel did lunch and it was very nice. They had a few options which included slightly spiced chicken and steamed rice so for a fussy eater like myself. It is also a short walk (through the the centre of town) to the train station

Stayed at the hotel every year since our honeymoon in 2006. Cannot fault the service , the staff are very friendly and helpful. 7

Great location hotel with spacious rooms. Showers were decent and beds were comfortable. I would say however that for the price of the rooms the attention to detail was missing. A/C was slightly off too. Beware this hotel is a maze! (Makes it more fun getting back to your room)

We booked this by phone without looking at reviews and were horrified to read all of the terrible reviews... Happily our experience has been the complete opposite. Our room was in the new block but we enjoyed the gorgeous grounds, historic main building and friendly staff. Our room was comfy, white bedding immaculate and all the facilities were well presented... Breakfast was plentiful with choice of hot or continental. Staff prompt, chatty and helpful. The carpets in our bedroom block are a little faded but that's a teeny tiny niggle. Everywhere was hoovered and clean. Can't compliment the grounds and abundant hanging baskets enough. A real relief to have a brilliant stay and just a 5 minute stroll to the theatre, shops and restaurants. The bar is a little pricey... but most hotels are aren't they... But it's beautiful! Our room didn't have any of the issues others seem to have experienced so I can only speak based on our visit. A charming hotel. Didn't visit gym, pool or spa as a brief weekend stay.

Nice and clean rooms, 5 minutes walk to the town centre, but the WiFi did not work on any of my devices. EDIT: The clothes iron did not work well, and appeared to be/ sounded like sparking on the inside on the iron. It seemed very dangerous and scary.

Stayed for two nights. Executive room very nice comfy bed slept well. Breakfast in our room for five pound tray charge. good choice of breakfasts very courteous staff . Only down side was the expense of the drinks. 20 pounds for a jd and coke and a 175 ml of red wine was ridiculous!

Pros: Rooms were very nice, spa treatment rooms very nice, food excellent although the 'surcharge' on many of the foods (we had a 'free' 3 course meal in our package) was a little irritating. Grounds are lovely too. Only a 5 minute walk into Stratford centre. Cons: only really the other 'spa facilities', neglected and grubby, the pool is tiny, enough for around 5-6 swimmers, steam room smells of mould, sauna is fine. Don't plan to spend an entire spa afternoon here unless you're going to be doing multiple treatments and nothing else.

5

Great location near the town centre. Friendly staff. Room service breakfast was fine. Looks very posh from the outside but the room I stayed in was fairly small and a bit shabby (flaking grout in the bathroom, wobbly lights, battered paintwork and a carpet that looked older than me). Okay, but I was expecting it to be a bit nicer.

Nice looking old hotel. Not the best place we've stayed. Breakfast service wasn't the best, we were forgotten about and to catch a satff member to place our order and then when our food did finally arrive it was wrong and my daughters food wasn't made. Overall not that impressed and won't stay here again.

Wouldn't go back to this hotel. It is on a roundabout opposite a petrol station. Not what we expected from photos on internet. Had to change rooms as first one cramped and had paint peeling off window frames. Most of staff good. Sunday morning breakfast was ridiculous. Queues out of restaurant and down hall. Buffet style breakfast which was tepid and inedible. A shame as the Saturday morning had been lovely. Over all hallways and public areas are very tired looking.

Just off main road but not too much traffic noise. Older building so the rooms are not particularly up to date, although well appointed, so can be creaky and chilly in the colder months. Good service from the staff, breakfast is reasonable.

I expected our room to be well aged, but not for the bathroom to be grubby with cracked tiles and the wing chairs to have holes in the arms. For £360 for the evening, I tend to expect a higher standard of accommodation than this. The room was much smaller than I had anticipated from the pictures, and the bedside lamps didn't work. Breakfast was well done and the rest of the hotel was to a good standard, but sadly our room was not.

Make sure you get a room in the old building which has oak beamed rooms and four-poster beds. There is no point in staying in the the annexe/new wing as the rooms are small, soul-less and expensive for what you get.
