Stayed here in 2011, walking distance to Wal Mart, beachfront is nice, watch out for the rocks in the ocean, they will cut your legs up and start to bleed. The dining is top notch. I did know a canadian that got bad sickness the day of departure from the night before , we encountered each other while dining. I asked the italian resto to rempve my name from a reservation, this cancelled it and further ruined a friendship. The horse ride from the beach was worth the money, make sure you have accident insurance and do not weigh too much, horses are not machines.

Absolutely stay here when visiting Puerto Vallarta.
It's an older hotel but it is extremely well run and clean with excellent staff, delicious food and essentially checks every box for a great vacation (unless you require polished marble...).
It's right on the beach, has pools, a swim up bar, tennis courts, amazing reservation dinners... You really can't do better than this place. We will absolutely be returning again next vacation

The staff are generally very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent and they offer lots of variety.
The rooms are clean and simple, which is really all it needs to be to sleep in.
Do watch your step though, there are odd height steps here and there which can be a nasty suprise to you toes (doctors and antibiotics are cheap though!).

Fantastic all inclusive hotel for a great price! Food is good, staff is friendly, drinks are tasty... Pool is big and there is also a smaller one, close to the tenniscourt. Great shows in the evening, and Fiesta was amazing!

Had a lovely special family holiday we will always remember. Great hotel and resort, even better staff. Special thanks to Kevin and Ivan (entertainment team), Jose and Pablo (pool bar) and Antonio (Buffet). However star of the show is Jorge, the pool side waiter, simply a hard worker, great attitude and always smiling. Yes and we did see you slip into the pool, jump straight out and immediately continue serving the guest while sopping wet, only to change into dry clothes, when there was a slight lull in demand.

A definite home away from home feeling. This was my first resort ever to visit in Mexico. We were placed in a room close to the pool. They had lots of activities throughout the day (thank you Kevin!) & all restaurants, bars and pool areas were nice and clean. The rooms could be updated but I very much enjoyed my stay here.

I really enjoyed my stay here. A very well maintained property. The staff was awesome and always went the extra mile. Food was tasty and drinks were quite good. Very good value overall. I will be back soon!

Workers were friendly and could understand your needs unlike other hotels, the food was absolutely delicious, pool was clean and the environment was so amazing. Get all inclusive and you could go to the swim up bar and get drinks for no extra cost. One of the cons: no hot tub.

Athough it is an older building, the Place is clean, safe and most importantly staff is amazing! Everyone from front desk to house keeping was friendly and helpful. If you stay here, please dine at the Mar y Tierra restaurant. You wont regret it!

This has been our second time at Canto Del Sol. We love it! The hotel is not new and shiney but has allot of character. It is spotlessly clean. We found the buffet food bar perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner but there are themed specialist restaurants for a special evening. Location, is perfect for visiting most of the local attractions such as the marina and the Malacon. Try the local busses they are very cheap, frequent and often a real bone shaker thanks to the cobbled streets
The best part of Canto del Sol is the staff, they cannot do enough for you. From the beach and pool staff, to security and the restaurant staff. Watch out for the hotel pool side dance which is undertaken by all staff including the managers.

this was booked thru Westjet, end of season, April 8-15\18. hotel only about half full so no line ups, no waiting for anything, and quiet. hotel is "quaint". could use some renovations soon as it is older but be careful not to lose the "charm". nor really a 4 star. more a 3.5 star. good value for dollar tho'. close to transportation.

Not my favourite. Buffet and restaurants had good variety and food was tasty. Beach was very small and not clean. Lots of rocks and pebbles in the sand - crowded as well with lots of vendors constantly asking you to buy their goods. Not much to do on the resort.
The room service was extremely slow with a very limited selection of food. Room was also small and uncomfortable.
The resort was centrally located close to shopping, restaurants and not far from the downtown boardwalk (melacon).

Lots of food, gingerbread houses, candy, desserts, decorations, and performances!

Very beautiful resort with amazingly friendly staff. Room quality is the only issue I had( plugged sink, bathroom door not locking, no fan in the washroom, not enough plugins to charge two phones...) The issues weren't major and the rooms aren't important in the grand scheme of things. Very pleased with our experience here.

We've been to Canto del Sol twice now. Our 2nd trip was every bit as good as the 1st, which was outstanding. The rooms are a bit dated but are kept very clean and comfortable. The cleaner made a cute bunny from a towel for us. The food is average but the service from the waiters was splendid. The pool and area are magnificent with activities every day. The bar outside by the pool has very attentive bartenders and waiting staff. A special shout out to Jorje for his always great service.

Beautiful all inclusive including alcohol. Staff was wonderful. Shout out to Eduardo. Our room was nice and clean. Housekeeping was great about coming back to clean if we wanted an afternoon siesta. Malecon is a 20 minute walk or 85 pesos= $4 US by taxi. Yes, they have a time share plan but they are not pushy. Loved the ceviche bar and breakfast by the ocean at Peces. Mexican coffee at surf and turf restaurant. Very good.

Clean rooms, good service, good food. Drinks aren't watered down. Only complaints are that the beds are hard and we don't like timeshare pitch to get your towel cards! Other than that very happy with our all-inclusive stay.

Nice hotel, good food, good shows but I never come back. There are not beaches only to see you can not go in. Coming from a far country I got a room to see a wall. Another guest from England said the same. What a bad room coming from England or Canada. Why not a room with view?? seeing a wall I think this hotel is losing guests Needs more strategic marketing at the reception.

The people of the hotel are friendly and happy and make your stay a pleaser. The staff are very good at what they do. The hotel is very clean. The food is very good. And would I go back. Yes. And would I recommend this place. Yes. And is in good location to all amenities. The staff make you want to come back.

Stayed there in 2008. Remembered great food, actually the best hotel food I ever had. Rooms are on average level and so is the lounge.

The staff here from the moment you enter treat you like family! They are awesome! The property is very well kept. Being beachfront was so cool to experience! If you've ever been somewhere and thought "where is my waiter/waitress, I need a drink!" That's not here.......these guys are on point and always have your drinks full!! Food was decent. Pooltime games and interactive staff was great. I would go again.

They call themselves 5 star but in reality they're a 3.5-4 at best.

Food is mostly average and service is hit and miss. There are some really great employees and some that are not great at all. They'll also try and sell you a club membership on arrival.

The snack bar closes early. The bars close at midnight. The pool closes at 8pm. If you're planning on doing anything into the night, you have to go elsewhere.

The "Shows" were amusing, but on the make-shift theatre on a tennis court, they fell a bit short. The home made costumes and props were cute, but the shows were certainly not much more than high-school quality.

Overall, my week there was relaxing and easy to handle.

It's a good value hotel... the staff is really friendly. The only thing it's kind of old and some of the facilities need some maintainers... the location is the best thing. You can walk to different places even to downtown a nice food 20 minutes walk to the boardwalk. Ir you're looking to be outside the resort a couple of days it is a great option.

It's our first time to an all-inclusive resort and we had a blast! The room itself is dated and could use a facelift but very clean. The whole place is crawling with staff either cleaning, attending to the plants, entertaining kids, or helping you with food or drink. And they are very friendly, always asking if need more food, or drink, but not too imposing. We really enjoyed their nightly entertainment especially the mariachi band. Central location.

Absolutely beautiful experience. The staff is amazing and will do whatever it takes to keep you smiling. The food was wonderful with lots of options every day. I cannot express how clean they keep everything. Service is very quick. You will feel like you're at home when you're a guest here. The location is incredible only being 10 minutes from basically everything in Puerto Vallarta. This was an amazing trip and I would absolutely recommend to anyone thinking of going to PV. I couldn't have asked for a better vacation.

The location and views are fantastic! New kids pool in a lovely setting for adults too. Waiters are quick and friendly. The all inclusive buffet is not great but it's not terrible either.

Everything is very nice. I wish they would provide, soda or water bottles in the fridge.

I went with a group of friends, ages 25-29. It was 8 of us. We had a blast. This place was awesome. Gill, Cynthia and Luis were the best. Everyone was so friendly. If you interested in going out and enjoying the night life find Luis. We went out to the club 3 times, did Ziplining, atv's and a boat cruise. What an amazing experience!!!!!

Location is great, food is amazing, staff are unbelievably accommodating and pleasant. The only complaint I have so far is the shower won't stay at a constant temperature. Some in my group complained the beds were too firm but the front desk will provide a mattress topper if you ask.

I liked the food...the rooms were nice and cold the hotel was beautiful,and it was right by the ocean where you can swim in a clear clean beach. The service was good the staff were awesome except for while we were at the buffet it was hotter than hell and they make. The poor staff wear long sleeve shirts and dress pants and it is not air conditioned ....I felt so sorry for the staff they work there butts off.my only other problem was they booked events that hotel guests couldn't attend and they were booked in a section where it restricted us from the beach and the patio rather than booking in a banquet room(they do have banquet rooms) and they did photo shoots and the asst manager told us we had to wait 5-10 minutes for our scheduled lunch which turned into an hour and a half which is a problem when you have plans and a schedule and worse off she then asked us to move in the pool side chairs we were waiting in so she could take pics there as well.

WIFI connections are sometimes difficult to acquire, Spent a week here with my sisters during spring break and enjoyed the central location and easy access to transportation.

Just returned after a great week. Took family of 18 ( 3 generations). Wonderful time. Great food. clean rooms, good staff, great weather. wonderful pool and beach. As you can gather it was a great vacation.. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a holiday where they can relax and just enjoy themselves.

All in all, a pretty nice hotel. No problems with cleanliness or bugs or anything. All inclusive means buffet food (leaves a lot to be desired) plus 2 restaurant dinners for a 5-night stay.

The only snag is they push RCI (a timeshare company) pretty hard. But don't expect them to be pushy, the thing is they push it with niceness. You get discounts if you agree to listen to a short presentation. They're nice and friendly, but they can be very persuasive. Just keep in mind that YOU'RE the boss. Don't agree to anything you don't want to, and don't let them manipulate you. Look up RCI and see what you'd be getting into.

Of course, I think all the hotels down there push timeshares, so it's to be expected. Just stay sharp.
