This is a nice resort with an all inclusive option for food, drinks, entertainment, and facilities use. Marvelous pool and a large brown sand beach. Service is generally excellent. Food is excellent.

Food is delicious! I loved the juice bar! Some of the food is repetitive. Beautiful resort with very nice pools. Dated rooms but very clean. Swim suits never dry in the room due to humidity so bring extra ones.
Volcanic sand on beach.. Not really for swimming. Excellent staff, very friendly and do everything to make your stay a happy one.

Beautiful place, we stayed in the nicest building and had a great room. The staff is awesome. Great service they remember your names. Enjoyed our stay, the pools were nice although crowded on the weekend. The food was AWFUL. I lived on fruit, even the beans and rice was bad. Loads of food all inclusive but the only restaurant I liked was the seafood and it was so so nothing great. And the entertainment was a Latin video in Spanish are you kidding me!

We had a really nice time here. Fair warning for Americans, this is a really popular spot for Costa Ricans to vacation or come for the weekends so you won’t find a ton of other Americans. For us this was actually very nice as I got a chance to practice my Spanish and just relax for a few days. The beach is not very nice but still provides great views for walking. The drinks are extremely weak but who cares since they’re already paid for?

Make dinner reservations at least a day ahead if you want to eat at the restaurant but we found that eating at the buffet every night fit us better.

Overall I highly recommend this place for a short getaway. There’s just too much food to stay for much longer. My stomach was ready for a break after three full days!

The staff at this hotel is amazing. They are very educated and nice. The place is also very nice, the food is very good and there is a wide variety of what you can have. Plus, at the restaurants, they get you a table (unlike other all-inclusive hotels where you have to rush to get a table). The beach is not the prettiest but you are relatively close to Manuel Antonio and Jacó.

Very nice Hotel. Staff is gorgeous. Only be aware of booking a room in the premium part of the hotel since the others are very dark and not appealing. Everything is clean food ok for an "all u can eat location". I would recommend it.

My wife and I went to this hotel for a 10th anniversary trip. We were treated amazingly for the experience. The staff were kind, helpful, and always great at their job. A special thanks to Karen and Richard in the premium area pool, as they were our bartenders for the majority of the time, and did an awesome job. We loved every minute and will be back in a few years.

The service here is bare minimum..they say fridge in room gets filled every 3 days with 2 beer..1 coke , 1 Sprite, 2 water.. we been here 6 days and we finally got everything but the beer..we did upgrade to premium at check in which cost us an extra 500$ us.more so one would think we shouldn't have to beg for this stuff ..the policy of the place sucks for being a Hilton hotel..won't be staying here again.

It's just ok. I've stayed a nicer places but never stayed in a worse place. The staff is there and that's all I can say about that. The food is slightly worse that what you should expect from an all inclusive. The heated pool is awfully warm for 90 degree weather. The rooms are cozy but they never really get cool. We were told that this is a place where the locals go for vacation. Take that how you want but the town it's in isn't very welcoming.

The property is beautiful, huge, and clean. People were friendly and staff was helpful. We had a wonderful time relaxing and the on-site travel agency was very accommodating in terms of helping us see what we wanted while in Costa Rica. My husband and I definitely want to return.

We got a great deal on the place- with one night being free. Even without that, it was an incredible deal. It's not a 5-star resort, but it's a nice enough one. There are lots of activities and great nightly shows, and very friendly staff. My only complaint is that my room was warm... but others did not think so about theirs.

Have to give it 5 star just because we had a great time there. Great view and decent service. The hotel itself is clean and in a great location. Bar staff are great and look after you well. Seafood restaurant is lacking the good stuff Lobster.....lol you can get it but at an extra cost which is ridiculous considering what you pay to go there. Only real complaint I have is they charge you 20 usd for any towels that go missing, and that's only because they know they will go missing.... it's the only thing that ruined our relaxation....I'm a points member at Hilton and use them a lot love the brand..... but they give day passes at this resort to people who aren't staying there and it seems it's hard to spend much time in the pool without losing towels off your seat. It was a real pain having to jump in and out every 5 minutes so you don't have 100 dollars in towel fees by the end of your stay. Destroys your relaxation. The beach is not best for swimming but is absolutely beautiful to stare at. Sunsets cant be beat and the sunset bar on the pier is just the perfect setting to end the day. The kids absolutely loved the place and were treated like kings.

Great location, very good service. One of the few "all in" resorts in the Hilton portfolio. Plenty of tasty local dishes, fresh fruits and drinks. Animation and entertainment offered as well.
Highly recommended.

Very disappointed. Room was SO basic, no mini bar for snacks or even some bottled water...if I wanted water I had to go to the bar and received a small glass, if I wanted a bottle of water I had to buy it, Rooms desperately need updating.. I compared this resort to the one we stayed at on the Mayan Riviera ...THAT was an all-inclusive this resort needs to take some tips from. All entertainment was in Spanish....since there seemed to be a lot of locals there I guess that was to be expected, but English speaking guests were totally left out. Bar staff were not very friendly either. Most staff spoke little or no English, unusual for a tourist destination. I wouldn’t recommend this “all inclusive” unless you speak at least some Spanish.

Nice hotel that is full of activities. Simple and comfortable rooms. Although the all-inclusive package encompasses drinks, they’re pretty weak and sugary. The whole strict rules on towels and bracelets, I understand why, but is rather annoying.
Pools are nice and are kid-friendly, however. The fact that the pool closes at certain times is unfortunate. I come all this way to enjoy an “all-inclusive” hotel and they have a pool schedule?
Food was good especially the breakfast. Omelettes made to order were really good.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay, just not the best all-inclusive hotel I’ve been too. I would come back in the future.

This resort lacks the nurture and care the Hilton brand is known for. Generally speaking for the price, this was an "okay" experience. The food was what you expect at an all inclusive (decent). Be sure to make a reservation at the two resort restaurants, they were good. Most of the staff don't speak English and most activities are conducted in Spanish.

Small, beautiful resort. Love the black (volcanic), sandy beach. The buffet isn't always my favorite, but I loved my food at the Macarela (tuna with sesame) and the Latino restaurant (salmon) on the property. I love all the fresh pineapple!!! The staff is friendly, and you see a nice variety of guests from young families to elderly. They have a tour office where you can book excursions to many fun and interesting places. It's a bit pricy, but in line with what we have seen elsewhere.

This resort is geared more toward families, however my girlfriend and I had a fantastic stay! The buffet-style meals are surprisingly delicious, often incorporating local dishes with lots of seafood. The beach is beautiful and maintained well, and the staff is almost entirely bilingual and very friendly.

All-inclusive. Very good buffet. Good options at snack bar. Love the Heliconias spa. The place was full but does not feel crowded. Disliked the not so well prepared cocktails; but overall very nice place to share a beach vacation with family near San José.

When you stay three nights you get to dine in a fantastic specialty restaurant. We loved our four coarse meals! We ate at both. They were exquisite! We also enjoyed the activities. The respect had great activities going on all day. We made palm oragami grasshoppers one day.

We chose the Double Tree Resort in Puntarenas based on the availability of getting a rental car from Adobe Car Rental. Our cruise ship docked at Puerto Caldera. This was the closest place to acquire a car rental. Convenient and professional service.

Beautiful venue. Wonderful food experiences. One night our air conditioning went out, told front desk and by the time we came back from our visit to the rain forest it was fixed. The good:C. R. is beautiful. Very nice grounds, food is OK staff helpful. The bad:Rooms are a throw back from 1980, a bit of mold around the bath mirror, tile floor responded to inside and outside temperature which made floors damp. They were painting beams with a laquer paint so the smell was less than plesant. Lots of people, not a place for a quite getaway. They took inventory on a Thursday the store was closed my wife needed cold medicine. She could not get and ruined our dinner due to sneezing. It is all inclusive so I get the quality but the rooms really need upgrades.

Although this was a family hotel I was not disappointed. Great service to start from check-in until check-out. The accommodations were lovely and the spa to die for. I loved the spa staff and how excellent they were in their services, I came back twice during my stay because of it. The hotel offers an array of activities to do daily, there’s food and drinks available at all times, and tours and transportation offices if needed. I couldn’t recommend this place more.

6

Nice pool area with wet bar and snacks. The buffet area was also nice but the food was plain. Travel staff were friendly and refunded our money after poor weather made our tour too dangerous. The special reservation-only restaurant was mediocre and the food was horrible. We ate there two nights and both options I chose were dry and tough (beef and chicken). The beach was ugly and rocky. The ocean was brown due to the river flowing into it. Construction noises were distracting in the pool area. Pathways are slippery and dangerous leading to the rooms. Toilet wasn't working when we first arrived. TV guide advertises about 6 English channels and we found one. The alcoholic beverages were cheap. I even spit out pieces of plastic that were somehow mixed in with my pina colada. Would not recommend this place.

My husband and I honeymooned here! We had a great time. Even the transportation to & from the airport was lovely (Arenas Travel located inside the hotel). We didn't even tell anyone we were honeymooning and the next day we come back to find towels in the shape of a heart on the bed! Past reviewers have said that the rooms needed some TLC, but we didn't experience that at all. Our suite was perfect. It was spacious, clean, and we were first floor (close to the beach & pool). It was always quiet at night and we both slept great. We LOVED breakfasts, lunches were ok, and dinner at the restaurants was always lovely. Bar service was also great. My husband and I were a little nervous about weather considering it is June and the rainy season. However, it was always sunny and warm for most of the day. Staff is very polite and kind. We would come here again!

The hotel is not in an acceptable condition for a Hilton property. The service is great, but that is about it. Our room was in need of major repairs. The beach was not well maintained, so very few visitors. I stay at about 100 hotels from Hilton a year and have diamond status, so they tried to make things right.

Very friendly and attentive staff. The food in the daily themed buffet was very, very good and the specialty restaurants were exceptional. The views are amazing, the rooms were comfortable and very clean. Air conditioning was nice and definitely cool enough. Fresh fruit and juices, poolside snackbar, and swim up bars, all with quick and responsive staff. While the staff was great, Jessica in Customer Service was amazing. I've in this hotel so many times since I was 6 years old. The place is pretty, they try to keep it updated. It is really close from San Jose/Airport. The food is not great but it has improved lately. I think the price for day pass is accurate to what this hotel offers. The food is great and you can enjoy the whole day by the pool. I would not recomend to go to the beach because it is dirty and if you stay at the hotel you can drink and eat everything you want to. I liked it.

This resort is severely outdated and not worth its high price tag. I recently stayed 4 days at this resort in August 2016 and booked two higher end suites - both rooms suffered from mold, water damage, water leaks, faulty A/Cs and water pressure that made showering a pain in the butt.
The staff is the only thing about this resort that made it bearable.

The beachfront is only that - a beachfront. The water quality is terrible and the beach is dirty, so you can only use the pools the resort offers. The pools are fine but you pay a premium price for the beach and the beach can't be used.

Food quality is fine, just not enough sitting area which makes meal times annoying when you have to wait 15-20 minutes to sit down.

I highly urge people to take their money and spend it at a different resort: this DoubleTree was great in the 90s, now it's just a sore thumb by the beach.

We had an amazing week! The most friendly of staff and great food. But most of all we were lucky to have met Carlos from Reyes Tours. We got to know him well and look forward to our next visit there and to use him for even more tours.

Hotel and surroundings are starting to look tired.
The service is certainly not to "Hilton standards".
The staff are most generally pleasant but not too efficient.
This is an all inclusive resort - the food I found good.
However, I would not recommend it to Europeans or North Americans and certainly would not stay there again.

ur suite was perfect with a kitchen. The beds were so comfortable I slept like a baby,The room was Clean, the kitchen was fully stocked. The food for an all inclusive was UNBLELIEVABLE.I have never seen so many wonderful food choices, and all of it,amazing.I dont quite understand how anyone can say otherwise to be honest.I have stayed in many all inclusives and the food here was top notch.Another thing I want to comment on is the evening entertainment. The entertainments team put on some of the best nightly shows I have ever seen in my life.Brilliant.We laughed from start to finish, yes it is in espanol but that just adds to the fun.Kudos to the hotel for bringing in the best team together. The hotel itself is right on the beach in a wonderful location.Huge pool, food stations everywhere so you can eat all day.Awesome pizza and nachos at the pool station, swim up pool bar.We had an awesome stay for great value for money.(Just back from second visit and second all above again!)

This resort is just okay. It's your typical "all-inclusive" resort sheltered from the outside world. I stopped here for one night after staying in open air rooms all week on the peninsula. I don't need many creature comforts but if you're going to put Hilton Resort in the name it should meet some standards. Internet costs extra, pool towels are handed out one-at-a-time with a voucher from the front desk like you're a child and you can't find a bottled water on-site unless you get to the gift store before they close, which apparently happens early. I was told if i wanted bottled water to drive off site to a super market. To be a Hilton Resort they are missing some key points.
