We stayed in a 1 bedroom condo. The decor is original but everything functions. We had an amazing view of the mountains. The staff were great. We will be back.

Helpful people. This place is not new but it is well maintained. There are lot of updates. Multi unit structures are concrete build. Good place for families. Bus to downtown Banff stops in front of the complex. It is somehow affordable compared to other places nearby.

I love this hotel, feel homey. Swimming pool and slide are awesome. Outdoor heated pool is also nice. The gym is decent. For kids, there are big 4-storey playhouse located in basement (you can access from the basement car park). You can also lit the fireplace with supplied wood (although it is not easy to lit them). I would surely come back here.

I enjoyed my stay at the Douglas. It's about a 5 minute drive away from Banff Ave so it's nice and quiet. They provide complimentary bus pass so you don't have to drive your vehicle downtown. Rooms are nice and cozy.

We had a great room. A bit outdated but location was amazing. The chalet with loft was very clean and comfortable. Leave your car at the Resort and use the bus pass. Takes you everywhere you want to go without the hassle of finding parking!

Loved this place. Felt very cozy and homelike. Rooms come with a kitchen and a variety of crockery, cutlery, pots, pans etc so visitors don't have to depend on restaurant timings and saves the cost of dining out.
Spotted some elks within the vicinity which was nice.

Chalets are small but cozy. Possible to sleep six people but gets very cramped. Resort itself is very nice with a swimming pool, hot tub, and small gym. Good for a mountain vacation.

Great swimming pool and slides!
Cool climbing gym!
Comfy beds and good sized hotel rooms.
Also good sized cottages!
Kitchens are an okay size.
I would definitely go there again

Had a pet friendly suite. It was considerably more run down than the photos on their website. I expected nicer. The customer service, waterslides and general layout of the suite were great though.

Stayed in a 2 bed loft room with a mountain view. I was very impressed by the amount of amenities and items provided in the room. The stove and dishwasher were very new. They provided all dishes, utensils, soap- everything you would need to cook. The outdoor hot tub was great, and the pool guy was a cool guy.

Our whole family loves it. Rooms are dated but functional. Each has its own wood burning fireplace, they provide the wood.

The complex is a bizarre maze of buildings and hallways connected through various renovations and additions over the years. Well signed, so we were never lost, but a little odd cutting through the parking lot so many time to get to the other amenities.

Young children love the amenities - huge two or three story indoor playground, water slides and outdoor hot tubs. The kids pool inside is too cold for our 18 month old to spend much time at. Though our kids get cold easy, so two of them wear shorty wet suits to all standard temperature pools.

Went here for a girls weekend get away. It was nice, but could have used some TLC. The sofa bed looked quite old and there was a lot of scratches on the walls and coffee tables, the room itself was also showing its age. I think this would be a great place for people with kids, as they had an amazing waterpark (did not visit but walked past) and the outdoor hot tub was very nice. There was also an indoor hot tub and pool. The staff were quite friendly and professional, but one complaint I did have was at 9am one morning we could hear someone in the halls (who we assumed were housekeeping staff) playing a radio loud enough to wake us up.

Loved the wood burning fireplace in the room. Would certainly go back.

First waterslide experience for our girls and they had a blast! Our loft room was cozy and met our family's needs comfortably. The indoor play structure is as good (if not better than) paid-for indoor playhouses (Shakers or JoSo, etc). Still a great place for kids!

It's a great place for families. It's not fancy at all. We stayed here for a girls weekend. It ended up being good because we could make as much noise as we wanted inside because we were in our own detached chalet. The single beds are a little small & not a tonne of room but we made it work. It could probably use a little updating & the maids should maybe dust the cobwebs in the corner. But it has lots of stuff in the kitchen & even has a dishwasher. We did have fun though!!

Was in town for a hockey tournament. First night of the stay the furnace did not work so it was cold. Had to have maintenance come in and fix the furnace the next day. Would of been nice to get a little bit of a discount at checkout. Other than that it was good

Booked a 6-person room for the weekend min January. Decent price for average local accommodations. Just don't expect luxury. Quick cab ride to access the restaurants and sights in town, which is great.

We had a Christmas party ( overnight ) here. Mediocre customer service. Furniture, flooring, and washrooms need replacement/renovations. I gave management over a month to respond to my concerns for our months. No response of any kind. The "do not care" attitude is hard to understand.
This place has charged from where you loved to go to where you avoid to go.

The Douglas Fir Resort has excellent amenities for family's, with quick-service when we needed something in our room. The large family Suite was perfect for our extended family to all stay together.Tje heated underground parking was also nice in the winter.

Area and location are beautiful. Be wary of the staff, they have our team a difficult time when trying to apply a group rate. Free firewood for the fireplace in your suite. Be careful, it's super easy to set off your fire alarm in your room if you smoke the wood too much.

Stayed in chalet 4 times over the last 15 years... Always off season. Wonderful every time. Great for families or groups of friends- came as three couples last time. Wood burning fireplace and pool/waterslide/indoor and outdoor hot tubs were the highlights. Waterslide pool was little chilly. Thanks!

I only used the laundry facilities and store (I was camping at nearby camp site). When I called, at the suggestion of the city information center, I learned that the laundry is operated by a separate vendor, but the Douglas employee was able to provide all the info I needed. They like you to start your wash 90 minutes prior to closing time, which is overkill unless there are no machines available, but no one was in the facility enforcing that on my visit. Equipment was all clean, working and in good order. There are about 5 or 6 washers and an equal number - or more - of dryers. Prices are better than at the in-town laundromat, though they don't offer the full services offered in town (wherein they'll wash, dry and fold for you, but at a very dear price!) There's a large folding table and you can get coins and detergent at the store next door.

We only stayed late one night as an emergency room while travelling. Rooms seem clean, relatively quiet, and family friendly. We plan to return this fall with our children and my parents for a family holiday, as the room's full kitchen should allow us a camping like independence, while being weather proof.

The facilities are fantastic for families but the staff lack hospitality. My favorite example was being denied breakfast. If you want breakfast you need to specifically ask for the breakfast package when booking and ensure that you do so 2 days prior. We extended our stay, payed the rate that includes breakfast but we did not specifically ask for the breakfast package when booking + we missed the 2 day window = no breakfast for us. I spoke to the Manager Perry, seems he is the driving force of the cultural ban on hospitality.

Douglas Fir Resort is an ideal place to take a young family to in Banff. We have a 5 year old and a 2 year old and normally any excursion outside of our house is filled with dread. Douglas Fir has all the amenities you need. (Grocery store AND liquor store on site). The staff was friendly and check in and check out was painless. Would definitely recommend again.

Lovely place to stay. Very close to town center, but isolated enough that you don't get the crazies at night. We had two chalets for a bachelorette. Appreciated the fact that there were waterslides because deep down we are all children.

They just upgraded their WiFi, it's actually usable! Bathrooms are well lit and the rooms are a decent size. Great amenities for children with water sides, pools, and a giant play structure. Nestled in Banff with lovely mountain views surrounding you. Only real negative is the bad mattress and dated kitchen and furniture. I think

We had a great view from our chalet balcony. The space was clean and comfortable. The ice machine is somewhat inconvenient from the chalets but of course you can just bring your own ice and throw it in the fridge freezer. Enjoyed our stay!

Our weekend stay at Douglas Fir Resort was great. The amenities were perfect for families, including the full kitchen, water park and indoor playpark and there is even a grocery store at the resort. We stayed in a studio room and there was plenty of space for the kids to run around in, unlike other Banff hotels we stayed at. Would definitely recommend for families.

Location is a bit outside downtown Banff, but complimentary bus transport is available. Our room was a suite with a full kitchenette (with dishwasher, but no detergent...?) and was very spacious. Fireplace with wood provided was a nice touch. Room was quite warm, but did have a small a/c unit inside (possibly not big enough for the room: our kids, sleeping at the side farthest from the unit, complained they were too hot all night). On-site grocery store is convenient for anything you forgot to bring along.

Easy access to town of Banff and surrounding attractions, comfortable and clean accommodation with great amenities for kids. The breakfast kit is well worth it. Thank you!

We had been going here with the kids for years. It is a lot of fun for the young ones. But, over time they have done nothing to make the rooms nicer. It is the exact same old dirty upholstery on the dining area seating as it was 10 yrs ago, there has been no upgrading whatsoever. Considering the cost of staying you'd think they would re invest the money into the rooms. We had started staying across the road but unfortunately, we were too late when booking. Like i say ,if you have small children this is the place to come with the water-slides and weirdly shaped hot tub. As for us after many, many, years of Douglas Fir we will be staying elsewhere in the future.

We absolutely loved the room! It was nice to have a kitchenette, but the best part by far was the in-room fireplace.
The staff were friendly and helpful in guiding us around the resort as well as the town.
The pools and waterslides are also a nice touch. There's a small store attaches stocking anything you have forgotten at home. And bring quarters for the lockers!
Overall, I recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Banff.

Lots of accommodations for family including an amazing play area, waterslides and outdoor play area, different room layouts including with kitchenette, very well-appointed store (priced as you might expect). Didn't check if the barbecues are operational. Great if you're trapped on a rainy day... except that many of the rooms are a (quick) outdoor walk from facilities. Staff was quick and helpful with requests. Quick access to town, but would take quite a while on foot (but doable).

This place is charming and rustic. Right from the start hand carved wooden sculptures of Park Wildlife greet you upon entering the parking lot. My room had 3 queen sized beds, 2 upstairs and 1 downstairs. Our also came with a fireplace and nice balcony backing onto the national park. It also has a great water slide that my kids enjoyed. I would give this a 3 star review for the accommodations, but the views and seclusion are worth another star.

Good value for money.
We stayed in a family chalet which had everything we needed. 3 Queen beds (comfy not old) and a small living area. The kitchenette was tiny but had everything; full size fridge freezer, cooker, m/wave, coffee machine, dishwasher and was supplied and topped up with dish soap, coffee, tea, kitchen paper towels and dishwasher tablets.
Good size bathroom with great shower and, again, supplied and topped up with quality products including tissues and mouthwash.
Great views of the Rockies from our balcony.
There was a large BBQ area, dedicated parking space and excellent amenities; an indoor play centre, pool, hot tub, waterpark and outdoor hot tub.
Free WiFi across the whole resort (although painfully slow at times).
The shop onsite is very well equipped and no more expensive than Banff itself. There is also a liquor store; I didn't go in but it looked well stocked from the outside. The coin operated laundrette looked like it had plenty of machines too.
Everywhere was very clean and well kept. We left some pans in soak (after cooking our complimentary bacon & egg breakfast) and, when we returned from a long day out with a scrubber to clean them, we discovered the cleaner had emptied the dishwasher, reloaded it, scrubbed and added the pans then put the dishwasher on again so we had clean pans when we got home. What an awesome surprise.
Another great touch was free day roaming bus passes if you asked for them in the lobby. These enabled us to hop on and off all 3 bus routes and got us everywhere in Banff from right outside the resort entrance. Most of the bus stops have route maps and tell you how long the wait is for the next 2 buses so you don't even have to wait around long.
All in all the Douglas Fir was great value for money.

a great spot to take the kids. Lots for them to do. However, we were very disappointed in the quality of beds. The pull out couch was extremely uncomfortable. The kids didn't sleep because they could feel the springs. Therefore us adults didn't sleep either. We've been going back for years but it doesn't seem they are up keeping the rooms. Also, the playroom had screws hanging where kids play.

We have been going there for 10 years now, the kids absolutely love it. Problem is, over the years the facility is becoming worn down and it's not being repaired. We just stayed there and our cabin was in a state of disrepair - exposed drywall with mould growing on it, filthy toilets that they never cleaned even after I specifically asked them to, damaged furniture, stained and worn out carpets and bench seating at dinette (bench seating had separated from the wall and was unstable), exceptionally poor wifi, and the list goes on. Will we stay there again? Yes, because the kids love the Playzone (also needs extensive repairs) and the water slides. I feel the reason why administration doesn't seem to care about the state of DFR is because they know parents will stay there b/c their kids love it, in spite of it's poor condition. Very disappointing.
