Green Key Eco-Rating Program 3

With more than 1,200 hotels certified in Canada since its inception in the 1990s, the Green Key Eco-Rating Program awards hotels an environmental rating of one to five Green Keys. Green Key members are then given guidance on how to "unlock" opportunities to reduce operating costs and environmental impacts - and in turn earn more keys.

The Green Key audit looks at nine major areas of sustainable hotel operations:
• Energy conservation
• Water conservation
• Solid waste management

This was a great hotel to stay at. The location was awesome and had very convenient access to the mall. I found the theme rooms to be interesting and a great treat for kids. That is why I plan to come back to this hotel one day with my kids. I would give it a higher rating but I found the service here to be very slow. The staff didn't seem to be in a hurry to provide services. I know they are busy with other stuff but they could work on their speed. I had been travelling for 20 hours before I arrived and was met with a huge lineup which was not a good first impression. I saw other guests complaining about this too and there was one guy that waited for half an hour.

We booked the Roman themed room, I absolutely loved it. The jacuzzi was gigantic, but not overly comfortable. We used lush bubble bombs in it, was so much fun. The staff at the front desk were very friendly but some had different info. For example, we had 2 complimentary breakfasts, and I asked front desk if room service breakfast counts, she said yes. Upon check out the gentleman said that it was only for the sit down breakfast, but I told him another lady said room service cou ted. He ended up comping our breakfast without issue. All in all, I enjoyed myself.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Definite kudos to the front desk and cleaning staff. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. However showers had incredibly poor water flow. Amenities were also lacking compared to other hotels, including lack of pool and hot tub, fitness centre was a far walk from hotel (but it was a full fitness centre) and WiFi is unfortunately shared with the rest of the mall, so expect slow connection when mall is busy.

Fabulous. Rooms are nice, staff are incredible. Parking kind of needs improvement, the front door doesn't allow much for unloading as there is really only room to drop people off. But the amenities are worth it. Staying for a few more days, but so far 5++++ stars! Like the infusion water in the lobby too!

The themed rooms were neat but still a lot of stuff crammed in a small room. Was pricey but it was nice being attached to the mall. I would have gone 5 stars but for what we paid for the room it was what I considered dirty. The sheets had sand in them, the pickup turk in the room under the seats(the extra bed was in the cab of the truck) was dirty. Or youngest son got his fingers stuck in the door handle. All in all it was a fun time.

Stayed and attended a work event at this hotel. Pillows and bed were quite comfortable in the rooms. And are designed quite nice. We didn't have a theme room but had a regular room and was quite impressed. We were going to come to this hotel when attending a concert in Edmonton and wanted to stay in a theme room. Themed rooms are quite expensive for the night when staying so I would suggest watching for deals. And we would have had to book way in advance and it fills up quickly. Other than that, quite good for a regular room.

Loved the room I booked for a guys weekend. Was able to get a family room with a hot tub, and also have delivery service. Some of the rooms seem a tad outdated and need a refresh, but staff is professional and provide high quality service. Definitely one of my go-to hotels for a weekend getaway.

Absolutely amazing place to stay for any period of time. They have a wonderful assortment of themed rooms which enriches the stay. Each theme is designed to make a person really feel as though they lived in that time period/place (except with an extraordinarily comfortable king/queen sized bed).

Fantasyland Hotel is set inside the West Edmonton Mall. A great place for a short stop while we explored the mall for a few hours before heading off the next day. The convenience of being in the mall itself far outweighed the cost of the accommodation. No extra trips in and out of the car we simply looked around until everything closed and then retired. The room was large and spacious. The bathroom clean and the staff polites and efficient on check in and check out.

Always have a great time here. Stayed in new luxury space theme room kids had a blast they loved the double bed sized space pod bunk beds!!! Room service was great, package included a feast platter both nights at L2 which was great. Good deal since we decided to do a Sunday & Monday night stay. Everyone very nice, rooms very clean.

The themed Truck room was splendid. It kept our boys busy in the cab. Our youngest just couldn’t get away from the steering wheel. He loved it when he found out the truck seat (futon)became a bed. He fell asleep with one hand on the wheel! 😊. Great place to have experiences with your kids that they will always remember.

Stayed at the Roman Theme Room. The room was great and was set-up with roses, a birthday card, and chocolates for my girlfriend's birthday. We also got sparkling wine and a set of "lotions" with our package as part of a spring promotion. Aside from a slightly "off" smell in the washroom, everything was awesome and I would definitely stay there again.

This place is stunning. It is absolutely beautiful especially if you are planning to take it differently, this hotel really amazed me. The themed room are perfect for everyone, children would love the themed rooms. The only complaint I have is that the room wall is kinda thin so you might hear your neighbours talking.

Convinent location to attend all the activities the mall has to offer. We stayed in the truck room and was surprised by all the fun features, such as the tail lights that work, bar lights and a gas pump light. Jacuzzi tub was nice and filled fast, rooms were moderately soundproofed. Overall, we would stay here again.

Stayed over for our anniversary celebration. Modern Polynesian room was great, quiet and spacious. Airjet tub was also much nicer than a standard jetted tub. Upon booking we received two nights dinners at the adjacent L2 Grill. Food and service were great as well.

We requested an early check in which we understood might not be possible. When we did check in 2 hrs past regular check in they said our room wasn't ready and they would call us when it was, they never did. We had to cancel our dinner reservations as we were planning to get ready in our room. However the room was nice and the manager that eventually checked us in (Chelsey?) Was very helpful which saved my wife's birthday and our first time out together in 4 years.

Non existent customer service. I've made multiple attempts to confirm a flower delivery to a room and haven't been in contact with anybody useful. FRONT DESK RINGS ENDLESSLY, reservations transfers me to front desk, front desk supervisor transfers me to front desk in a haste of avoiding my question let alone answering it. The hotel appears wonderful but I would second guess booking based on the lack of service... funny thing is they answer the phone "Fantasy Land Hotel Reservations, how can I make your stay more fun?"

My kids really enjoyed the truck room. Front desk was really pleasant to deal with as well. My toddler was very tired after our busy day, so I checked to see if we could check in early if our room was ready, and thankfully we were able to. The price is very high in my opinion. If it was cheaper we would stay more often. We stayed at a nearby place the night before to save a bit. Otherwise the room itself was good.

Great experience at Fantasyland Hotel a usual. Though the standard rooms are becoming dated they are well maintained and always clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. Of course the overall reason for the stay - proximity to the mall - is unbeatable. Great for a mid-winter family getaway.

A very nice hotel. Rooms are nice, clean. The new Polynesian was rennovated and very nice. Staff were all friendly. Only negative was elevators took forever to wait for, and the beds weren't incredible, but also weren't that bad. Overall a nice place to stay.

Stayed in Arabian room first night. One of the older rooms but nice! Shower handle needed some update/repair but otherwise generally well kept and luxury. Second night we stayed in the Roman room. It had a circular bed and large tub. This room has been updated and is very luxurious and detailed. The passes you can get to go with the mall attractions is worth taking advantage of as well.

I have been here twice with my family. The first time I stayed in the galaxy room and it was awesome, the theme was great. The second time I stayed in the western room and one again the room was decorated wonderfully. however when we went the second time the cots were very terrible and lumpy so my parents did not have a good sleep. When we told the front desk they basically told us that we were getting a good deal and that we shouldn't worry about it. TERRIBLE COSTUMER SERVICE.

The Roman room...is gorgeous and thank u to the woman who took the time to go over every room details with me on the phone when preparing this trip...we did not expect every detail of gold in the room including our garbage can and the details in our bathroom and hot tub....I rate this 5 stars because of the room and how quiet , clean it is here....you could just stay in the room and feel u are in a magical kingdom and u are the king and queen...and what great sleep we had so much privacy..the maids didn't bother us until we called to come clean up our room..and they were professional and friendly...we were so happy about that... u don't even have to go into the mall u just want to stay here and watch yourself lying in bed from the mirror ceiling.i couldn't believe the wall paper was gold with pieces of glitter in every millimeter....24 hour gym, mini casino, indoor ice skating rink, huge waterworld park, great selection of stores for shopping, good selection of bars and restaurants, movies, comedy and dinner show, amusement park and so much more..I love the decor and the creative layout in the mall ...u don't have to go anywhere in Edmonton this place is full of fun!!. This is the place u want to be..3 to 4 days to stay here is my recommendation ..a place for fun, romance or a family experience...I recommend u come here at least once in your life if you are visiting the west of Canada..but u have to stay in one of these special rooms..that is the experience u really want to have.

Had a bad experience on our last stay, arrived at the hotel before check-in time and figured our room would not be ready yet and it wasn't so no big deal; left our bags with the bell desk and was told we would receive a text message when our room was ready but if we didn't receive a text before 4pm to just come back and pick up our room key. By about 5pm we never received a text so we returned to pick up our keys, we were met with a very large very slow moving line. Not wanting to standing in line if our room was still not ready we figured we'd call and ask, got bounced to 3 different people before we were told "sorry I'm busy helping someone else right now and we'll call you back *click*" No one ever did call back so we waited in line for 45 minutes to be told our room was not ready (about 2 hours after check-in time)

We expressed our displeasure and let the front counter person know we would like to speak to a manager or would like our money back so we can go to another hotel; well now our room was "ready". So finished checking in to go to the room and find it was sill being cleaned... O well dropped our bags in the room and left.

The room itself? Old and outdated like most reviews say. One of the lights above the tub flickered rapidly so it stayed off which made the room dark. The thermostat in the room did not work properly as it was set to about 22 but in the mornings the room would be about 15. The bed was pretty hard, which yes beds can't accommodate everyone but to me it was uncomfortable. The TV in the room would at random change back to the movie preview channel when on a different channel.

The valet and room service were a positive of the trip, however when we were leaving I called down to get my truck brought around the I had to let the phone ring for over a minute before someone answered the phone; and this is after 3 other attempts of calling down but giving up after 10 or so rings each time.

All in all the hotel clearly suffers from a lack of staff and lack of proper management "well sir we do have 300 rooms to clean" is not an excuse 2 hours after check-in time; for 1 I have been in hotels with over a thousand rooms and were ready for check in; 2 your the ones that set the 4pm deadline; 3 had someone told us on the phone the room was not ready I would not have waited in the line for 45 minutes then yes been demanding when I finally reached the front; 4 you knew how many rooms you had booked and therefor how much staff would be needed.

If you really want to stay in mall then this is your only choice but otherwise there are MANY hotels very close the mall that will compete for your business and offer proper customer service.

Stayed in the space themed room was really cool, our son loved it. No windows but I guess that goes with the theme. Sweet setup with a spa and a double bed bunk bed and queen for the adults. Cool light themes and nice and warm. Had a problem with the shower and maintenance came and fixed the problem with in an our. Service was pleasant

Stayed in the luxury Roman Themed room. Room decor was very nice and spacious. Room thermostat was not working properly. Had trouble adjusting to desired temperature. Limited channels on TV. Only one trash can in the room besides the bathroom. With a room that size should have another trashcan. Found a hair in one of the towels. Bed sheets were worn and can see pilling. But the hot tub worked well and was very comfortable. Overall, for the price paid, expected much higher quality.

I've only stayed in the hotels twice, once for a birthday and the second time for my anniversary in the Hollywood suite, it was amazing! I don't remember much the first time but when I stayed in the hollywood suite they were very accommodating and gave us the room we asked for, had a goodies bag upon entrance, our rooms were always clean when we got back to them. I really have nothing to complain about, it's a bonus because you can rent movies on tv that are still in theater or just came out!

Enjoyed the room and the stay. Loved getting water park passes included in room charge. Would have been a 5 star review except for the elevator not working for the duration of the visit. Very annoying having to wait long periods of time or use the stairs to go up and down from room.

Theme rooms are interesting to go to. The options are pretty cool. It is pricey imo but for a special occasion or something like a mini stay vacay with your kids - it is cool. We never took our kids but I think they would have loved it....when they were under 10. I saw an ad for a new princess room and thought "what a great girls b-day party option". It looks pretty nice. Being at the mall and having access to all the activities, venues and stores there is great as well.

I initially booked a standard room but was offered to upgrade for a fee. Definitely worth it as the newly renovated Roman room was awesome with the nicer bathroom, spacious, interesting circle bed (with overhead mirror 😉), and large jacuzzi in the middle of the room. The staff were friendly and the salmon eggs benny was good without breaking the bank. I would recommend to stay here if you gwt a chance. Book a standard room and test your luck with the upgrade as it ended up being a lot more affordable this way.

We couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the booking agent, to the front desk and the concierge that treated us superbly. The room was spacious and the bedding luxurious, better than our own.
I highly recommend booking directly. We mightve saved a bit of money initially, but they comped us extra passes to the water park. These passes were worth the cost of one nights stay. Plus the lounge in the lobby is so convenient for some 'couple time'.

The entire experience was a lovely family vacation. I read some earlier reviews about the "dated" rooms. We stayed at the new Polynesian themed room that had bunk beds. Nothing felt dated on the entire floor. The rooms felt modern and high end. There where nice touches, like the crib being in the room because we had a young one with us and the free bottled water felt really great. The housekeeping staff was very friendly. The front desk was professional, accommodating and happy. The lemon and orange water that is complementary in the lobby was inviting and much needed after a long drive. The new renovations are looking fantastic. I recomend stopping on all the floors in the hotel to see the cool themes. (Although this might be the reason for wait times for the elevator. ) Paying for the water park package and taking advantage of some of the fun stuff like golf, theater, galaxy land, is worth it. It really adds to the experience. Everyone in our family had a great time. Lots of fantastic memories for all of us. No complaints.

My experience with the hotel a few weeks ago was more of a business experience but is still worthy of a 5 star review!! We went to do an on site set up of wedding flowers from Best Buds Flower Co which is my company.
When we arrived the helpful Attendants at the front came out and helped us find the correct path to haul in buckets of fresh flowers. They called catering and the nicest gentelman came down with a cart proceeded to load the cart with us and take it in the service elevator. We had to take flowers to the bride in her room and by the time we arrived upstairs the cart was in the correct area and we had access to water to make the centrepieces on site....then a lady cakebehind us and offered to vacuum up where we made a small mess on the floor. By far the easiest Edmonton venue I have been to for a set up! The room looked amazing and I was very impressed!! Kimberly of Best Buds Flower Co

We stayed in the executive king suite which was $278 a night. The bathroom was very small and the room was nice and the Jacuzzi was awesome but overall I would say the price didn't match the room, under $200 would make more sense. Upon check-in we realized that valet was not added as we requested. The lady that was handling our check-in wasn't very friendly and I think its because I asked her to speak up as there was a lot of noise with the other people checking in and I couldn't hear her. After I said I couldn't hear her she was very short with us. There really isn't much for TV channels and to rent a movie you're looking at around $18 so I suggest bringing a laptop and an HDMI cable with your own programming. The phone in our room did not work so we had to call for room service from a cell phone. The nachos we got from room service weren't the best, the cheese wasn't even melted, I am sure they have other things on the menu that are better though. I have to say the L2 grill they have was fantastic! we went there for dinner and breakfast and the food and service was outstanding. Also make sure you do a good check on your room before you leave because we left a phone cable in our room and I called two hours after we left and house-keeping said they would call back but did not and so I followed up the next day and they said nothing was found....very sketchy. Overall I would say their prices are too high at least for the room we got and I don't feel like the staff was very honest about the item we left so that has left a bad taste in my mouth, however they do have good deals if you get their add-on packages so I would stay here again but not very often.

The front desk agent we had was not very friendly, he was quick and knowledgable but he didn't really smile and gave off an aggravated vibe during our check in process. The room was lovely, we came during the sale they had which was rooms for $150 a night, we were unable to get a theme room but we had a jacuzzi tub in the room which was a lot of fun. The room was clean, large and fresh. I was surprised they only had a regular coffee maker and not a kurig, there was not even a kettle in the room. There was no fitness center and the front desk only offered 1 pass to the mall waterpark, there were 3 of us. If I had paid full price for the room I would not have been satisfied with the extra amenities. I did not take advantage of room service but it was nice to see it is available until 2am. Overall an enjoyable stay.

Great service, amazing rooms and awesome location, it's attached to west Edmonton mall so it's very convenient, great for family-WARNING if by chance they tell you that there is a private event happening called "Sound wave" at the water park here is what they arnt telling you!!! It's a RAVE!!!!!!!!
#1 scantily clad young adults all
Over the mall the evening of event
#2 a lot of the people attending this event will be returning anywhere from 1am -6am hammered out
Of their minds loud as all get out. The hotel made me sign a thing when I checked in saying I understood that 11pm was quiet time and that I could be evicted of loud. What I didn't realize is that is the staffs way of telling me it's going to loud as hell all dang night. I complained at 1am,2am, the yelling hooting and hollering continued all night!!!! My wife and I were up almost all night

So in short if sound wave is going on, DONT STAY HERE. Any other time it's a great place to stay as a family

Perfect location for a conference. I was able to get to my sessions easily and if necessary was able to go to my room in during breaks. This made it so I didn't need to carry as much around with me to the sessions. Being in the mall made going out for dinner very convenient. Being able to wander the mall was entertainment in itself. Although the rooms show their age, they were clean and tidy.

Lovely staff, excellent rooms. Loved the themed room with jacuzzi. Perfect location to enjoy the entire Edmonton Mall experience. Staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly. Stayed here for work. Staff were fab, the hotel was clean and so accessible for shopping, but the room was really noisy, I could hear the rooms next to me really, really clear, I thought first they were standing outside my room door. I laughed with a colleague on the first day, who had brought her own pillow, and realised after the 1st night how clever she was. Being honest, we had booked a family stay but I'm cancelling it as for me, when paying that kind of money to stay with a family of 6, I want to enjoy it and not come home tired from lack of sleep like I did after our conference.

On two occasions I visited my wife for the day while she was here for work training. The two rooms were comfortable and clean. But the view on the fourth floor was straight into a concrete wall. I've stayed here over 10 times over the years. I like the different theme rooms but the hotel has no pool. The last 3 times I didn't get passes to the water park which was a real let down since you're sometimes paying over $500.00 for a room. Huge FAIL! Rooms are clean and the in room hot tubs are a sweet addition. Lost 1 Star because I didn't get water park passes. Maybe next time....

Stayed 2 nights in Nov 2016, in Superior Room (not theme room). Superior Room was very spacious with 2 queen beds, plus bunk beds. Can't beat the location for WEM access. Hotel is reasonably well-maintained given its age. Staff are pleasant. Prices are somewhat high at times, better deals can be found with 3rd party booking sites (try entering dates into Google Maps). Would stay again.

We enjoyed our stay. The kids love the igloo room. Our room was ice cold on arrival, but warmed up once the heat was turned on. The jacuzzi didn't work, but they gave us more passes for attractions we couldn't use because they couldn't change our theme room. Still we had a lot of fun.

Really enjoyed our stay here. It was so convenient to be connected to the mall.

It was our first family vacation with our 9 month baby. We opted for a regular room and not a themed room. Our room was nice, clean and comfy, the view wasn't bad, but really, we weren't there for the view.

It was nice to go shopping, then head back to our room to unload and rest.

Service at the front counter was very nice and friendly, and were able to provide me with all the info I needed.

The people are extremely cooperative. The handicapped room is great if you are mobile, can walk or stand to get onto the toilet. For wheelchairs.... not so great. The room was awesome. Chris, and Pam went above and beyond to help us find a room that would work for my needs. The maintenance man modified the washroom door in another room to make my stay need even that much better. Concierge was awesome. Now if They could attend to do very few issues to make it actually WHEELCHAIR accessible I would give it a high 5. Package deals are above and beyond our expectations. Roomservice for breakfast yummy.

The fantasy land hotel had great amenities. They provided a clean, unique, and comfortable sleeping experience. We were also very impressed with the fact that free passed to the Waterpark or theme park were provided. Being in the mall, it made it a wonderful experience, allowing us to shop and enjoy the nightlife safely.

The theme rooms are really cool. Not cheap, but great for special occasions. The staff were great and online checkout works well.

We stayed at the at Fantasyland Hotel in the Roman themed room, and i absolutely loved it! It made me feel like i was in a gladiator movie. We were in the luxury rooms. The room was clean although it was a little unclean in the bathroom(there was some hairs on the ground) Their jacuzzi was huge, the downside was that it took alot of water to fill. Bit i still enjoyed it. We saw that the hotel provided other themes some of which looked like a 5 year olds room (like the truck themed rooms) im glad we went with the Rome themed room. Was so much fun.

The room was nice, everything was clean and presentable. The jacuzzi was very nice and spacious. We were gifted the room as a wedding present so we were excited. Unfortunately they didn't explain what was all in the package and we missed our $30+ breakfast. They also called our room at 11 pm to ask us if our room included a free Champaign and if we still wanted it. The bathroom didn't have a fan and the hair drier did not work.
